My Non-Genealogy Sunday - 31 May 2015

I got absolutely no genealogy work done today other than reading.  On the other hand, I got a new device and Linda did too.

*  Read email and blogs and finished up the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 24 to 30 May 2015 post.

*  We went off to church at 9:30 a.m., went to the store for groceries on the way home, had lunch, and I answered email for awhile.

*  We left at 2 p.m. for the Verizon store, got Linda a new iPhone 5C and I got a Samsung Eclipse tablet.  Went to In 'n' Out for dinner at 4 p.m. and Coldstone for dessert, and were home by 5:30 p.m.  Plugged the new devices in to charge.

*  Noted that the Added or Updated Databases at Ancestry.com - Week of May 24 to 30, 2015 post published, and read blogs and email.

*  Went in at 6 p.m. to watch the Padres game.  Read the paper, watered the front yard, then added apps to the new tablet and contacts to Linda's new phone.  Padres won 7-1 over Pirates, so now 25-27 on the year.

*  Online at 9:45 p.m. to read, and write this post.  Genealogy today was 2.5 hours.

My Genealogy Saturday - 30 May 2015

This was a "blogging fool" day, since there was no genealogy society meeting to attend.  I even did some research.

*  didn't read email and blogs, but noted that Surname Saturday - MORSE (England to colonial New England) posted.

*  We left at 8:15 a.m. for the DMV to get a replacement license for Linda.  Done by 8:50 and home by 9 a.m.

*  Read email and blogs, added to the NGS and Best Of posts, and worked on a Sunday post.  Wrote three blog posts on the Chula Vista Genealogy Cafe blog.  Had lunch, noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Your Ancestors Occupations posted, then took a 45 minute nap.

*  Online at 2:30 p.m. to read, write two more blog posts for next weekend, transcribed another White deed and wrote two Amanuensis Monday posts.  Worked a bit in Ancestry adding content and sources for random names in the database.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV, eat dinner.  Back online at 6 p.,m. to answer email, look at Connie's problem, and added to the Best Of post.

*  Went in at 7:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and my book, and then used the laptop to do the nightly readings, checked Facebook.  Pads lost 5-2 to the Pirates, so 23-27 on the season, going nowhere fast.

*  Online at 10 p.m. to read, then write this post.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

My Semi-Genealogy Thursday and Friday - 28-29 May 2015

What an interesting, and crappy, two days.

1)  Thursday, 28 May:

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 264: 1830 Petition for Removal of Jane Morley from Little Bolton to Blackburn in Lancashire and then My Saturday (6/6/15) Classes at SCGS Genealogy Jamboree and set it for later.

*  Answered email, updated the NGS and Best of posts, wrote another Treasure Chest post, and worked on the 52 Ancestor biographic data for Friday.

*  Researched and wrote Legacy Family Tree Version 8 is Updated - Research Guidance Feature.  Checked Facebook.  Took a nap.

*  Read, and worked some more on the biographical data.

*  We left for the Padres game at 4:50 p.m. on the trolley.  Linda left her purse on the trolley and changed the whole dynamic.  Trolley cop called ahead and they didn't find it.  We ate at Tin Fish, but Joe wasn't playing.

*  In Petco Park by 6:15 p.m. and watched game.  Pirates started 7-0, we got it to 7-4, then were behind 11-5.  We left after 7 innings, got home by 10:30 p.m.  I worked until 12:30 cancelling credit cards, changing passwords, suspending the phone number.  Genealogy today was 6 hours.

2)  Friday, 29 May:

*  Read email and blogs, wrote 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 74: #89 Sibel (Kirby) White (1764-1848).

*  We left at 9:15 for the bank to get new credit cards.  Called lost and found and they had nothing.  Made appointment for DMV for Saturday morning.

*  Back home by 10:30 a.m., wrote Photo Dating Women's Bathing Suits and set it for later.  Worked on the biography for next week and wrote the post.

*  Wrote the Surname Saturday post, added to the NGS and Best Of posts, and answered email.  Took an hour nap.  We left at 4 to pick up something at church.

*  Home at 4:30 p.m. to read, check Facebook, and came in at 5;15 p.m. to watch TV and eat dinner and water the front yard.

*  Watched the Padres game, now 2-2 in the 9th.  Read paper, read book, and read online and wrote this post.  Genealogy this day was 7.0 hours.

My Genealogy Wednesday - 27 May 2015

Four more days in May, where does the time go?  It seems like I don't get much done day by day, but when I look back I've made some progress almost every day.

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote The Isaac Seaver Family Gravestone -- Post 361 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and My Friday Classes at SCGS Genealogy Jamboree and set it for later in the morning.

*  Planned out the next post, researched a bit, captured some images, and will be ready when I get home from the CVGS meeting.

*  Left at 11 a.m. for McDonalds for lunch, then to Bonita Library, where we had to wait for the pre-school session to be over.  Finally in at 11:50.  Helped setup chairs, then worked with Gary to get the electronics hooked up.  The projector was not on the ceiling...the library brought another one in and we set it up without a problem.  CVGS meeting took a while.  There were about 45 in attendance.

*  I started my Probate talk at 12:55 p.m. and finished just after 2 p.m.  Talked to several colleagues afterwards - Sam found an ancestor's probate record in Tennessee by following my suggestions.

*  Home just before 3 p.m., and took a 40 minute nap.  Online to read, then wrote Finding Humphrey White's House in Glocester, R.I.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. and Linda wanted to go out to eat.  We went to Lolita's and then to the store for groceries.  Home at 6:45 p.m.  Stated reading blogs but got only 25% done.

*  Went in and watched the Padres game, read the paper, and read my book.  Got the laptop out and read the blogs.  Padres won 5-4 over Angels, so now 23-25.  Pitching has gotten better, and now some clutch hits.

*  Online at 10:10 p.m. to read, then write this post, check Facebook, and I'm done.  Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Tuesday - 26 May 2015

This was another stay-at-home day, and all genealogy except for the library trip, the nap and the Padres game.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Tuesday's Tip: Watch the FREE SCGS Genealogy Jamboree Live-Streamed Sessions.  Answered email, and tried out some of the new FamilySearch Apps.  Meh.

*  Worked a bit on descendants of Humphrey White - added two generations for Jonathan's siblings using FamilySearch Family Tree.  Worked some in WikiTree too after an email query.

*  Found picture of Humphrey White house in Glocester on Geni and then found it on the 1870 Glocester map as "G.N. White" - that's a grandson.  Blog fodder!  Wrote Do You Ever Wonder Who Else Might Be Researching Your Ancestor?

*  Went off to the library to return library books and get two more.  Home by 2 p.m. to read email and blogs, read the new Internet Genealogy magazine, then took an hour nap.

*  Online at 3:30 p.m. to add to the Best Of post, then checked Facebook and Google+, and found lots of the White Find A Grave memorials so added content and sources for them.

*  Went in at 5:20 p.m. to watch TV and eat dinner, watered the front yard, and started the wash.

*  Online at 6 p.m. to read, then work some more on the White gravestones and sources.

*  Went in at 7 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, read the new book, get the presentation on the laptop, hang up clothes, wash dishes, and read everything.  Padres won in 10 innings, 4-0.

*  Online at 10:40 p.m. to write this post.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Monday - 25 May 2015

This was a pretty full genealogy day up until dinner time and the Padres game.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Amanuensis Monday - Post 269: 1794 Deed of Jonathan White to Humphrey White in Bristol County, Mass. posted.

*  Joined the Mondays With Myrt crowd and we had a nice discussion.  I got to share my Lancashire court record and my Humphrey White deeds.

*  After Mondays With Myrt, answered emails and did some searching using the tips offered by the UK folks.  didn't find much.  Looks like a visit to Lancashire is needed!

*  Noted that New or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - May 17 to 23, 2015 posted.  Added to the Best Of and NGS posts.  Had lunch.  Checked Facebook.

*  Researched and wrote Jane and Rachel Morley in the Lancashire Quarterly Sessions Reports on Ancestry.com.  Took a 30 minute nap.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. for dinner, and watch TV.  Padres game started at 6:10, so read the paper and then my book.  Pads lost 4-3 in the 9th to the Angels.  Gave them two runs...drat.  Now 21-25 and going nowhere fast.

*  Online at 9:30 p.m. to read, tried to work in Ancestry but computer slowed down, so stoppeed to write this post.  Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

*  Email from Jean about the Ranslow Smith house.  She looked in Jefferson county records and thinks it was not the one I think it was.  I tend to agree with her.  Oh well.  Received the Old Houses article from her.  Did a lot of looking at Google Maps - too bad they don't have Street View on that road.

*  Game started back up at 9:10 and Padres jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings.  I read my book, washed dishes, and came to the computer twice to read, add to the NGS post, and now to write this post.  It's 11:10 in the 7th inning now, and I think I'll go to bed.

*  Genealogy today was 10.5 hours.

This was a pretty full genealogy day until the evening, when the Padres lost again.  Drat.  Ruined the day for me.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Tuesday's Tip - A Digital Newspaper Archive Database and then updated my Pennsylvania presentation and practiced it.

*  Added to the Best Of post, and worked in MyHeritage for a bit, then wrote Mining the NewspaperARCHIVE Collection on MyHeritage Record Matches.  Worked more in MyHeritage confirming or ignoring matches.

*  Checked Facebook, answered email, and played with two of the timeline programs I found.

*  Wrote New Ancestry.com Database -- Oregon Motor Vehicle Registrations, 1911-1946.  Took a 30 minute nap.  Answered more email.

*  Went in to watch TV, eat dinner and water the front yard.

*  Online at 6 p.m. again to read, copy stuff to Dropbox, then worked with Ancestry Hints to add content to the database.  Ignored 170 Hints.

*  Went in at 7:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game.  Read the paper, finished my book, and got the laptop out to set up for Wednesday CVGS Research Group.  Read blogs, Facebook, and added some photos to Pinterest.  Padres lost 11-4 to Mariners and it wasn't that close.  Now 17-17.  Can't hit consistently, can't pitch consistently.

*  Online at 10:30 p.m. to read, then wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.5 hours.

My Genealogy Days - 10-11 May 2015

Sunday was not much of a genealogy day, but Monday was all day with no Padres game.

*  Watched the Padres game at 1:10 p.m., took a short nap, read the paper.  Pads lost 2-1 to D-backs.  Crap, we need to win these.  Now 17-16.

*  Online at 4 p.m. to read, then wrote Added or Updated Databases at Ancestry.com - Week of May 3 to 9, 2015.  Took a short nap.

*  Went in at 5:30 pm. to watch TV, eat dinner and do the dishes.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, edit and send out the CVGS Newsletter, start the Best Of post, wrote a post for Monday, transcribed a will for Monday, checked Facebook, and worked a bit in the database.

My Semi-Genealogy Saturday - 9 May 2015

This was my daughter's birthday, so we sang to her twice, once to her voicemail and then to her real self.  I hope she appreciated it.

*  Read email and blogs, and noted that Surname Saturday - WOODCOCK (England to colonial Massachusetts) posted.

*  Left at 9 a.m. for Lake Murray and the SDGS meeting with Nancy Loe.  Enjoyed her two talks.

*  Home by 12:30 p.m. to eat lunch, note that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Your Favorite Photo of Your Mother posted, and took a nap.

*  We left at 3 p.m. for Carlsbad to meet Tami and her family for dinner to celebrate Mother's Day.  The girls were fun and Charlie is cuter by the minute.  Took some pictures.

*  Home by 6:30 p.m. to watch the Padres game.  Padres were up 4-2 in the 9th, but blew the lead and won 6-4 in 12 innings.  Now 17-15.

*  Online at 9:15 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and work on the CVGS newsletter.  Need to complete one page.

*  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 5.5 hours.

My Geneaholic Friday - 8 May 2015

Good news - got a haircut, got Mother's Day taken care of, and the Padres won.  No genealogy research progress, though!

*  Read email and blogs, wrote 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 71: #86 John Hill (1765-1825), and then wrote Merge Problems with RootsMagic 7 Interfacing With FamilySearch Family Tree and set it for later.

*  Went off at 11 a.m. for the library, the haircut, the bank, and Costco for 2 dozen roses and a Polish dog.  Then the card shop.  Mother's Day is covered!

*  Home by 12:30 p.m. to read, then worked on the Ancestry presentation adding the search using Hints in a specific database - almost forgot about that!

*  Answered email, added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook.  Went in at 2:50 p.m. for a nap and up at 3:20 refreshed.

*  Wrote the two Saturday posts.  Answered more email.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV, and online at 5:50 p.m. to read, then wrote Genealogy and Ancestry on Twitter - You Can't Make Some of This Up!

*  Back to the TV to watch the Padres game, read the paper, read my book and wash dishes.  Read email and Facebook on the phone too.  Padres won 6-5 over D-backs.  Now 16-15 and still in 2nd place.

*  Online at 10:10 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook and write this post.  Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Thursday - 7 May 2015

This was another stay-at-home genealogy day until the evening...I got very little research done due to other projects.

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 261: 1827 Bounty Land Warrant Claim of Martin Carringer and MyHeritage Releases Redesigned Mobile App for Family History and set it for later.

*  Answered several emails and added to the Best Of post.  Looked for persons on Maggie's list without success.

*  Watched Russ's Information Overload presentation on YouTube, then wrote Dealing with Information Overload - Russ Worthington's Presentation to highlight it and the spreadsheet.  Made a table with the FamilySearch Record Selection table for the CVGS Newsletter.

*  Checked out the Wiltshire OPC but they don't have much for Hilperton.  Worked a bit on John Hill for 52 Ancestors.

*  Took a short nap, felt better afterwards!  Worked on the Kemp DNA email and checked matches.  Worked on the CVGS Newsletter a bit and got it about 70% completed.

*  Went in fat 5:45 p.m. for dinner, watched TV, and online again at 6:30 p.m. to read and work on the CVGS Newsletter some more.

*  Went in at 7 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, then NGS Magazine, and wash dishes.  Pads lost 11-0 to D-backs.  Terrible game, worst of the year.  Now 15-15.

*  Online at 9 p.m. to read, then worked some at random in the database, but didn't add anything significant.

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook and done.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

Well, this was a busy and somewhat interesting genealogy day.  I didn't get any research done but tomorrow looks good for that.

*  Home by 2:45 p.m. to watch the last 4 innings of the Padres game, we won 9-1 over Giants, so now 15-14 and in 2nd place in the West.  Read the paper and took a nap too.

*  Joined Russ's HOA at 6:45 p.m. and we went live at about 7:20 to discuss the RootsMagic Web Hints for MyHeritage record matches.  I couldn't show my RootsMagic menus for some reason.  Drat.  Russ did the moves as I narrated.  It ended at about 7:50 but we stayed on talking about FTM until 8:15 p.m.

*  Got started on the CVGS newsletter, added two articles, so maybe 20% done.  Need more content.

*  Checked Facebook, read blogs, added to the Best Of post, and I'm done.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Tuesday - 5 May 2015

This was another genealogy day until the Padres game in the evening, and then more disappointment.

*  Read email and blogs, then researched and wrote Tombstone Tuesday - Anna (Row) Auble (1787?-1860?).

*  Took a look at the FamilySearch Place Finder, and almost blogged about it.  The results for New England seem inconsistent.  Managed to get some gunk out of my right ear - still more to clear.  Got some hearing back.

*  Answered email, added to the Best Of post, and made the Princess Charlotte chart in RootsMagic.  Checked WikiTree to see if they agreed.  Nope, there was a different connection to me there, one I don't have in my database.  Oh well, the one I have is a closer relationship.

*  Got Ronny's file into Google Drive and asked him to see if the sharing works. Checked Facebook too.

*  Wrote Yes, Grandchild, We are Related to Princess Charlotte!  That was fun.  Felt so good, I went in and took a 30 minute nap.

*  Looked through my AncestryDNA matches again - had one new Hint.  Cheryl says there's a new Kemp cousin for me.  Didn't see him.

*  Wrote two posts on the CV Genealogy Cafe blog.  Read email and blogs, then looked for Sturla data but didn't find much new.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch TV news, read the paper and eat dinner.  Online at 6:15 p.m. to read, then worked randomly in the database adding content and sources, mainly from Find A Grave.

*  Went in at 7:15 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper and read my book.  Pads lost 6-0 to the Giants so now 14-14 and in 3rd place again.  Drat.  Finished the book.

*  Online at 9:45 p.m. to read, check Facebook, and write this post.  Genealogy today was 9.5 hours.

*  Went to lunch with Robisons and Castros, and then back for Shirley's talk.  I came home because I was exhausted and not feeling well.  Tried to nap but had reflux issues.  Noted that Surname Saturday -- CLARK (England to colonial Massachusetts) and Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Guessing Ages in Photographs posted.
