My Non-Geneaholic Tuesday - 31 March 2015

This was a frustrating and fun day...

*  Read email and blogs, and noted that Tuesday's Tip - Find FREE Genealogy Education Resources posted.

*  Received Isabella's email with photos, and put it into a word doc and sent it off to Lori and Lucas.

*  We left at 10:15 a.m. for Linda's eye doctor appointment.  She was supposed to have a laser iridotomy but the doc said her eye moved too much and she aborted it.  Linda thinks she blinked.  So maybe next week?  We stopped at In n Out for lunch then home.  Home by 1 p.m.

*  I read, added to the Best Of post, and wrote Using Genealogical Societies to Help Kids Learn About Other Cultures.  Wrote two CVGS posts too.

*  Worked in the FamilySearch Family Tree matching ancestors and family members.  Discovered a large group that I have not done yet.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV and read the paper.  Left at 5:45 p.m. without Linda for Maggie's 100th birthday party at the Masonic Lodge.  We all had a great time - some speeches, some dancing (not me!), some food, and birthday cake.  It was fun to see Maggie's family make some family history tonight.

*  Home by 9 p.m. to read, write this post, and check Facebook.  Genealogy today was 6.5 hours.

Here are the numbers from my RootsMagic database as of 31 March (with increases in the numbers from 28 February in parentheses):

My Geneaholic Monday - 30 March 2015

This was a pretty full genealogy day.  I finished my OASIS class today too.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Amanuensis Monday - Post 261: 1875 Probate Record of Frederick Sovereen of Windham, Ontario posted.  Got on the panel for Mondays With Myrt but could not be heard.  Drat, wonder what happened?

*  Left at 9:30 a.m. for the OASIS class, had only 6 today, done at 12:30 and home by 1 p.m. for lunch.  Called by Roxanne about 3 p.m. saying the OASIS laptop was missing...oh boy.

*  Noted that New or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - March 23 to 29, 2015 posted.  Researched and wrote FamilySearch is Adding IGI Extracted Source Data to Family Tree Profiles.

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook and Google+ and answered email.

*  Went in for dinner at 5:15 p.m., read the paper and watched TV, then did dishes.

*  Online at 6:45 p.m. to read, write a post  Tuesday, and work in FamilySearch Family Tree on some of the problems - very slow and frustrating to deal with.  Finally worked in 1920 Census records adding sources and content - 1920 down to 841, sources up to 61,436.

*  Read, wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.5 hours.

My Semi-Genealogy Sunday - 29 March 2015

Two more days until we're one quarter through 2015.  Where does the time go?  The days just fly by.  It seems like the faster I go the behinder I get.

*  Read email and blogs, and finished up the Best Of post.

*  Online for a bit at 2 p.m. to note that Best of the Genea-Blogs -- 22 to 28 March 2015 posted.  Wrote two posts for later.

My Geneaholic Saturday - 28 March 2015

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Surname Saturday -- ALLEN (England to colonial Massachusetts) posted.

*  Worked in Pinterest - added two new boards and pinned a bunch to them.  Still a lot more to do.

*  After lunch, noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Newspaper Headline on Your Father's Birthday posted.  Worked on the income taxes, finalized, emailed off, and checks written to IRS and FTB.  A big ouch this year.  Wrote an email to the financial advisor...

*  Checked Facebook, then added three more boards to Pinterest and added Pins.  Even looked at Instagram...have an account, but no photos yet.

*  Went in at 4:30 p.m. to watch basketball, eat dinner, read the paper, and wash dishes.  Watched more basketball.

*  Answered Joy's email, and others too.  Worked in Ancestry to add content and sources to the database, found some rich Find A Grave veins also.  Worked on the unknown females in the database too.

*  Worked on Charlie Seaver's hypothesis, didn't find much.

My Geneaholic Thursday - 26 March 2015

I stayed home and did little else today, and feel like I wasted a lot of time.  Didn't work on the presentations.  Drat!  It was warm, around 85 F.

*  Read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 255: 1798 Direct Tax Assessment for Zachariah Hildreth (1754-1820) in Townsend, Mass.

*  Answered email, especially Charlie's about John Seaver's 1778 parentage.  Lots of hypotheses, no records.

*  Checked out Wunderlist, and couldn't figure out how to use it.  Pffft.  Listed to-do items in Evernote.  That works better.

*  Explored AncestryDNA matches related to Charlie - didn't find his matches on my list.  Checked out some of my surnames too.

*  Had a contact on MyHeritage about the Kinnekau couple - found more records that say it's Kennehan.  Edited to the latter.

*  Looked for more Zachariah Hildreth data.  Edited his profile a bit.

*  Wrote Example Source Citations for the New York City Birth, Marriage and Death Indexes on FamilySearch because I had nothing better to write about.

*  Watched Pat's HOA with Angie on FTDNA.  Checked out my FTDNA matches again.  nothing much new there.

*  Checked Facebook, found old "Other" messages, answered one about a Seaver.  There are several more.  Just added the last week or two, but they go back to 2010, from users who are not friends, but asked a question about genealogy.

*  Went in at 5:45 p.m. to watch TV, eat dinner, read the paper, and wash dishes.  Watched NCAA tourney games.

*  Online at 7:15 p.m. to work on the 52 Ancestors post on Zachariah Hildreth.  Got it done.  Worked through the NYC births for Seaver, adding content and sources.  Sources up to 61,223.

My Genealogy Wednesday - 25 March 2015

This was not a "big" genealogy day - Linda had an eye doc appointment this morning.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Oo-Hoo, Linda and Edna -- Post 352 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted.

*  We left at 8:15 a.m. for the eye appointment in La Mesa.  The ophthalmologist ruled out myasthenia gravis, which is good, I think.  We stopped at In n Out for lunch, and got home and I ran off o the library.

*  CVGS meeting had Jamie Mayhew as the speaker on Land Records.  Excellent talk.

My Geneaholic Tuesday - 24 March 2015

This was almost an all-genealogy day, except for the lawn trimming problem after dinner.  My eyes are still bothering me, with headaches.

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote Tuesday's Tip: FamilySearch Has Added New York City Records.

*  Worked on the Pennsylvania presentation, got the land records pretty well done, only probate records to go.

*  Answered email, and wrote Dear Randy: How Do I Add a FamilySearch Source to my Ancestry Member Tree?

*  Rested my eyes for almost an hour, then worked on email and added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and then was on the AncestryDNA briefing for an hour.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to read the paper, watch TV, eat dinner, and then tried to cut the lawn.  The damn edger string wouldn't stay in the housing, so I didn't get very far.  Wasted lots of string, and got really frustrated.  Quit and had a Dove bar.

*  Online at 7:30 p.m. to write two blog posts for Wednesday, then worked in Ancestry a bit adding content and sources.  Even solved a McKnew spouse problem - I knew last name from children's birth records, but not first names.  Got them all from the husband's obituary, then found her records easily.

*  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.5 hours.

My Genealogy Monday - 23 March 2015

*  Went in at 4:45 p.m. to watch TV, read the paper, doze a bit more, talked to Lori, Linda came home at 5:45 and we had a light dinner.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, and then worked on the 1930 Census Hints - adding sources and content; did 32 more, only 17 left.  Answered email, added to the Best Of post and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

My non-Genealogy Weekend - 21 and 22 March 2015

This was not much of a genealogy weekend, but it was a great family history weekend.  Saturday was our anniversary, and we knew Tami was bringing the kids down, so I forwent going to CGSSD.

1)  Saturday, 21 March 2015

*  Read email and blogs, went off at 7:45 a.m. for Marie Callenders for breakfast with the men's group.

*  Home by 10 a.m. to read, then note that Surname Saturday - BULLEN (England to colonial Massachusetts) posted.

*  Tami and the kids came soon after, and Charlie and I communed, Lauren and I whispered and hugged, and Audrey just had to have a piggyback ride and some giggles.  We went off at 11 a.m. for lunch at Lolita's, and home by 12:15.

*  Linda took the girls swimming at the Y, Tami and Charlie went shopping, and I read, and noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Which Source Have You Used the Most? posted.  Went in and watched basketball, read the paper and took two naps.

*  Everyone home by 3:15 p.m., and we played and snuggled, and left at 4:30 p.m. for dinner at Miguels.  The kids were good, and we had Cold Stone for dessert.  I had to finish Audrey's of course.
 *  They went home, and we got home after 6:30 p.m., and watched some more basketball.  I did get some research time in Ancestry adding content and sources.  Was too tired to journal.  Genealogy on Saturday was about 4.0 hours.

*  Read email and blogs, and finished up the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 15 to 21 March 2015 post.

This was not an all genealogy day due to family events.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 64: #71 Hannah (Horton) Dill (1761-ca 1797) posted.  Wrote Suzanne Winsor Freeman Memorial Scholarship Grant Applications are Invited and set it for later.

*  Went off to the card shop and then Costco for lunch and two dozen roses for Angel Linda for our anniversary.  She loved them!

*  Home by noon to read, add to the Best Of post, answer email, and write the Surname Saturday post.

*  Decided to do a little research on my #72 guy for next week.  I found that I did not have military records for him, so I went through Ancestry, Fold3, FamilySearch and other resources looking for information.  Then I checked Middlesex County Deed Indexes for him...and noted all of the deeds.  Those will take some time to sort out!  I'm afraid this is going to happen for many of the upcoming 52 Ancestors guys.  Forgot to write a blog post - oh well.

*  We left at 4:30 p.m. for Godfathers for our anniversary dinner.  Mine was fine, Angel had a reaction.  I took some pictures.

My Genealogy Thursday - 12 March 2015

*  Read email and then wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 253: 1917 Thomas Richmond Death Record.

*  Had to empty the cabinets under the bathroom sink and the kitchen sink.

*  Read blogs, added to the Best Of post, and answered email.

*  Plumber came at 12 noon, and cleaned out both drain pipes and now we have better drainage in the kitchen and bathroom sinks.  Stuff happens.  I put the stuff back under the kitchen sink with Linda's help and suggestions.

*  Online to read at 2 p.m., then researched and wrote Trying to Keep the FamilySearch Family Tree Profiles Updated.  Added more notes to Family Tree with RootsMagic for quite a few ancestors in generations 2-5 back.

*  Checked Facebook and Google+, answered email, read blogs, and worked more in RootsMagic adding notes to Family Tree.

*  Left at 1:15 p.m. for the Benjamin library in allied Gardens to do my Genealogy - Be An Ancestry Detective talk.  They told me it would be 20, ended up being about 35, filled the room and ran out of handouts.  Had great discussion with the librarian afterwards.
