No Mondays With Myrt, no problem. Last day of the month - no problem. Padres blow another game in the 9th - typical. Drat. It was a blogging day...
* Dropped Linda off, home to read, note that Amanuensis Monday - Will of George Martin (1618-1686) of Amesbury, Mass. posted, and wrote Announcing the Virtual Genealogical Society and set it for later. Picked Linda up and we went to Costco for stuff, including printer ink. Home by 10:20 a.m.
* Added to the Best Of post, then wrote New MyHeritage Feature: Family Tree Pedigree View. Took my nap.
* Had lunch, then online to read and answer email, and wrote Monday Genea-Pourri - 30 April 2018 and set it for later. Worked in RootsMagic matching profiles in Family Tree for awhile.
* Checked Twitter and Facebook. We had dinner at 4:30 and I was back online at 5:15 after watering the front plants. Wrote the Tuesday post and added to the Best Of post.
* Went in at 7:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and finished my Deaver novel. Checked email and blogs and Facebook on the phone. Padres lost to Giants 6-5 after leading 5-3 to start the inning. Drat. Now 10-20.
* Online at 10:30 to read, and write this post. Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.
Here are the numbers from my RootsMagic database as of 30 April (with increases in the numbers from 31 March in parentheses):

We went to the Padres game on Saturday night so I didn't journal.
1) Saturday, 28 April 2018
* Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up and home by 9:15. Gathered the laptop and flash and off to the SD FSL for the RootsMagic user group meeting.
* We had 9, including one of my OASIS students, at the meeting,m with lots of good questions, and two hours flew by. Took the long way home, drive by the old house and school and looked for Victorian houses like mine used to be without success.
* Home by 1:15 p.m. to eat lunch, then took my nap.
* Online at 2:30 p.m. to note that Surname Saturday -- PERKINS (England to colonial New England) and Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - The Weather On the Day You Were Born posted. Added to the Best Of post.
* Wrote the FS and Ancestry posts and set for later.
* We left at 3:45 p.m. for In 'n' Out for dinner, then the trolley to Petco Park for the Padres game. got a freebie - a hoodie long-sleeve shirt. Pads won 12-2 over Mets in a fun game for fans. Home by 9:30 p.m.
* Read email and blogs, and Facebook, but didn't journal. Genealogy this day was 3.5 hours.
2) Sunday, 29 April 2018:

* We left for church at 9:45 a.m., and home by 11:30 a.m.
* Read, started the new Best Of post, and decided on a probate record for Amanuensis Monday. Got most of it transcribed before the game came on.
* Went in at 1 p.m. to eat lunch, then watched the Padres game, read the paper, dozed in the recliner for an hour, and fumed as the Mets beat Pads 14-2 in a complete reversal of the night before. Pitching sucks sometimes. Pads now 10-19 on the season, and off to SF they go.
* Online at 4:30 p.m. to read, and write the Amanuensis post. Noted that Best of the Genea-Blogs - 22 to 28 April 2018 posted.

My Genealogy Wednesday - 25 April 2018
Three days in a row. It helps that the Padres played a day game at Colorado today.
* Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up and we went to the grocery store.
* Home by 10 a.m., and noted that The Grandgirls Visit Chula Vista in 2014 -- Post 513 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted. Added to the Best Of post, and rested my eyes.
* Had lunch in a hurry, grabbed my stuff, and off to the CVGS program meeting. Got there at 11:40 a.m., and the program started at 12 noon. Carole Sobke's talk on her button collection tied to family history.
* Home by 2 p.m. to watch the end of the Padres game - we lost 5-2 to Rockies, so now 9-17 on the season. Drat. Did get a short nap and read the paper too.
* Online at 3:15 p.m. to read, write Are There Search Problems on Ancestry.com? and check Twitter and Facebook. Did some profile matching of my tree to FamilySearch Family Tree.
* Went in at 5:30 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV, put out the trash and wash dishes.
* Online at 6:30 p.m. to write the Treasure Chest post, then worked in Ancestry Hints for my big tree for 80 minutes, resolving about 300 Hints. Still over 61,000 to go. An unending task.
* Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post. Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

My Genealogy Tuesday - 24 April 2018
Well, time sure marches on, relentlessly! It seems like I don't make a lot of progress, but things do get done.
* Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read emails and blogs, picked her up and we were home by 9:15 a.m.
* Added to the Best Of post, and noted that Treasure Chest Tuesday - 1944 Voter Registration List for Lee and Edna Leland in San Francisco posted.
* Worked for almost two hours on the Descendancy presentation. Tried to take a nap. Gave up at 12:15 and had lunch.
* Online to read, then wrote Explore the OurFamTree.org/Records/ Website and started on the News Bytes post. Got it almost done before I had to leave.
* Had a 2:20 p.m. appointment with the dermatologist - it's been two years. he found spots on my head, arms and chest that needed to be nitrogen zapped. I'll have spots for awhile.
* Home by 3 p.m. to read, and finished up the Genealogy News Bytes - 24 April 2018 post. Checked Twitter and Facebook.
* Went looking for the Civil War Pension file on Fold3 - could find the index cards but not the pension file. Drat. I may have to order it. Had a problem with Fold3 signin. Searched for several of the English folks in my project but can't find them.
* Went in at 5:15 p.m. to eat dinner, watched TV news, did the dishes, watered the front plants, and waited for the weather in Denver to clear. Padres game started at 6:25 and quickly became a blowout - ended up 8-0 Rockies, so Pads are now 9-16 on the season.
* Came in at 8 p.m. and looked for the Pension file again without success on Fold3. Wrote the Wordless Wednesday post, and then this post. Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

My Genealogy Monday - 23 April 2018
I missed journaling yesterday - I was busy trying to find an 1861 naturalization record for my project. Found an index, but no record on FamilySearch. I hate it when that happens.
* Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up and home by 9 a.m.
* Got into Mondays With Myrt just after the start, and contributed a bit about Ancestry problems, WikiTree, FamilySearch Family Tree and DNA tools.
* Added to the Best Of post, and noted that Amanuensis Monday - Will of Ebenezer Phillips (1695-1746) of Southborough, Mass. posted. Took my nap.
* Online at 12:45 p.m. to eat lunch, then wrote CVGS Program on Wednesday, 4/25 Is Carole Sobke Presentation and Monday Genea-Pourri - 23 April 2018 and set it for later.
* Checked Twitter and Facebook and got bogged down in politics. Drat - wasted an hour or more.
* Went in at 5:15 p.m. to serve dinner, we ate, watched TV news, and then watched the Padres game. I read the paper, the new Family Tree Magazine, and my Deaver book. Padres won 13-5 over Rockies so now 9-15 on the season.
* Online at 9:15 p.m. to read, answer email, add to the Best Of post, and wrote the Treasure Chest post (almost forgot!). Genealogy today was 6.5 hours.

My Genealogy Saturday - 21 April 2018
This was a decent genealogy day, but the Padres lost again.
* Dropped Linda at the Y, and headed off to Marie Callenders to lead the men's Bible Study - we are in Exodus 24-25 for those that wonder. Picked Linda up at 9:45 and we went to the grocery store. Home by 10:30 a.m.
* Added to the Best Of post, noted that Surname Saturday - BROOKMAN (England to colonial New England) posted, and wrote the SNGF post. Took my nap.
* Had lunch, then online and noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Lifespans of Your Third Great-Grandparents posted.
* Wrote the Ancestry and FamilySearch update posts. TreeShared my big tree and the project tree. Then worked on census records for the project ancestors. I have to get rid of the Ancestry sources because they are crappy, and substitute freeform RM sources. Lots more to do.
* Started the deep dive on one of the mystery persons - trying to find non-Hint records that might help define their lives. Worked in Ancestry and FamilySearch. Noted that Added or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 15 to 21 April 2018 posted.
* Went in at 5:15 p.m. to finish cooking dinner, we ate, and watched the Padres game. Read the paper, and started my new Jeffrey Deaver book. Pads lost 6-2 to Dbacks, so now 8-14 on the season, but 6-6 since the opening three series. But 1-4 in the last 5.
* Online at 8:15 p.m. to continue working on the mystery person - found a naturalization record in the index, but couldn't find the actual record in the county court records online or in the Catalog. Wrote the research note for it. Frustrating.
* Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post. Genealogy today was 6.5 hours.

My Genealogy Friday - 20 April 2018
I didn't do a lot of research work today - just the usual blogging, eating, napping, reading and Padres game. No progress on the CVGS project, no data mining, no work on the presentations. Drat.
* Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, picked her up at 9 and went to Dollar Tree. Home by 9:40 a.m. Got the laundry done.
* Noted that 52 Ancestors - Week 223: #314 Joseph Richards (1703-1748) of Lynn and Southborough, Massachusetts posted, added to the Best Of post, and took a nap.
* Had lunch, and wrote New Records Available To Search This Findmypast Friday, 20 April 2018. Researched and wrote Genealogy News Bytes -- 20 April 2018 and set it for later.
* Left at 1:30 to exercise the Lincoln and go to the library for another book. I read two since Friday last while watching baseball. Home by 2:30 p.m.
* Followed a rabbit hole to a line to the English Kings before William, and added a line to Alfred the Great, my 33rd great-grandfather. Checked Facebook and Twitter, and wrote the Surname Saturday post.
* Answered email and added to the Best Of post. Went in at 5:15 to finish dinner because Linda dropped a bowl on her right big toe - hurts, bruised, may be broken (?). We ate and I was back on the computer by 5:45 p.m. Got the Bible Study for Saturday printed out.
* Went in at 6:40 p.m. to watch the Padres game at Arizona. Tyson Ross took a no-hitter into the 8th inning and they gave a hit on a misplayed ball in center field that tied the game 1-1. Ross came out, and Hand finished up. The Pads scored three in the 9th to win it 4-1, so now 8-13 on the season.

My Genealogy Thursday - 19 April 2018
I missed only four days...it's the Padres fault. We went to the game on Tuesday night and got home by midnight. Damn Dodgers beat us three straight. So we're now 7-13 and in last place again. No Padres game tonight.
Sunday through Wednesday I kept up on blogging, Twitter and Facebook, but didn't do much research or resolved Ancestry Hints. I did have several hours working on the new presentation.
Today was a busy genealogy day:
* Dropped Linda off, home to read email and blogs, picked her up and was home by 9 a.m. Gathered up my laptop stuff and left at 9:15 for my OASIS class. It rained a bit on the way. Had my two hour class, and home by 12:30, eating Wheat Thins all the way home.
* Read email and blogs, noted that 1726 Marriage Record of Joseph Richards and Mary Bowden in Lynn, Mass. - Post 408 for Treasure Chest Thursday posted. Went in and dozed for an hour in the recliner.
* Online at 2 p.m. to read, then worked on the Seavers in the News -- 1946 Wedding of Wallace Seaver and Madeline South post. Checked Twitter and Facebook. Looked at what I had for the 52 Ancestors biography for Friday. Searched for land records and wrote abstracts of four of them.
* Went in at 5:15 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV news, and read the paper.
* Online at 7 p.m. to read, then worked on the 52 Ancestors profile. Wrote it for Friday, but it took awhile sorting out the land data, finding one more, and moving stuff around.
* Added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post. Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.
Sunday through Wednesday I kept up on blogging, Twitter and Facebook, but didn't do much research or resolved Ancestry Hints. I did have several hours working on the new presentation.

My Genealogy Saturday - 14 April 2018
All the best laid plans ... I missed journaling on Thursday and Friday and can't recall what I did besides blog, and get a haircut. Oh well. Today:
* Dropped Linda off at 7:30, home to read email and blogs, and picked her up at 9 a.m. Home by 9:15.
* Noted that Surname Saturday -- GOLDSTONE (England to colonial Massachusetts) posted, then added to the Best Of post.
* Worked about three hours on the first new presentation in a year. Got a lot of the text in now need images to liven it up.
* Noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- My Visited States/Provinces Map posted. Wrote the FamilySearch and Ancestry posts.
* Downloaded the latest Family Tree Builder, and tried to upload a GEDCOM of the current database. Couldn't do it through FTB, but got it up on MyHeritage. Now I need to download it to FTB.
* Worked on the WDYTYA project for an hour, then went in at 5:15 to eat dinner. We watched the Padres game - Pads won 5-4 over Giants so now 6-10 on the season.
* Online at 8:45 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook, and then worked on the WDYTYA project. FamilySearch Hints has German birth, marriage and death records. Cool.
* Wrote this post - genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

I Will Try Harder...
I knew I hadn't posted for awhile, but March 31? It is so easy to let it slide. After, what, 10 years of nearly daily posts except on vacation, that is the longest break I've had.
Over the 10 days, life has gone on. Linda goes to the Y, we go shopping, the Padres play almost every day, and I read blogs and write blogs on my regular schedule. What has fallen by the wayside is working on the Ancestry Hints. I've been working on the WDYTYA project almost every day. Last night, it was looking for obituaries and death notices.
So, today I dropped Linda at the Y, came home to read email and blogs, wrote Tombstone Tuesday - Jonathan White (1803-1850) in White-Chace Lot in Glocester, Rhode Island because I forgot to write it last night, picked Linda up at 9:30 and we shopped at Costco, and I picked up my new eye glasses. Much better distant vision field, and more magnification - I think I'll be able to read the box scores in the paper now. We had lunch at Costco - I had pizza for the first time in awhile.
We got home at 11:15 a.m., and I wrote Do I Still Need a Desktop Genealogy Software Program?, took a short nap, wrote Genealogy News Bytes - 10 April 2018, checked Twitter and Facebook, and wrote the Wordless post.
I went in for dinner at 5:15 p.m., and we watched the Padres game against the Rockies. Pads won 5-2, so now 4-8 on the season (we started 1-6 and 2-8). Then on to the computer to answer email, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook, and write this post.
Is anyone still reading this blog?
