My Genealogy Day - 30 April 2016

This was a good genealogy day although I got nothing done on my family tree.

*  Read email and blogs, then noted that Surname Saturday -- MOTT (England to colonial New England) posted and wrote Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Lifespans of Your 2nd Great Grandparents and set it for later.

*  Watched the Mike Mansfield webinar on MyHeritage book matching, and worked in the book matches for awhile.

*  We ate lunch, then left at 12:15 for the Chula Vista library for the Mark Olsen program for CVGS.  The program was excellent, and everybody learned something I think.  We were home by 3:30 p.m.

*  Read, added to the Best Of post, and checked Ancestry for Hints, and then MyHeritage looking at some record matches.  Got sleepy.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV, took a nap in the recliner, we ate dinner, then watched the Padres game.  Padres won 5-2 over dodgers for second straight win - now 9-15.  Read my book, and checked email, blogs and Facebook on the tablet.

*  Online at 9:20 p.m. to read, then wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

My Genealogy Friday - 29 April 2016

This was a good genealogy day - writing, researching and visiting with genea-friends.  Slept poorly last night, so had a long nap.

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote 52 Ancestors - Week 122: #145 Elizabeth (Prescott) Hildreth (1734-1812), and New Records Available To Search This Findmypast Friday - 29 April 2016 and set it for later.

*  Wrote Making Progress on My Auble Cousins - Post 3: Identifying Elizabeth Auble's Heirs and set it for later also.  Took my nap - 90 minutes.  Snacked afterwards.

*  Online at 1:30 p.m. to read, then researched one of the Auble lines and added content and sources to the database.  Added to the Best Of post and checked Facebook.  Wrote the Surname Saturday post.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to read the paper and watch TV, then left at 6 p.m. for the restaurant and met Mark.  Had a great time over dinner and dessert discussing folks and things.  Home by 9:30 p.m.

*  Watched the last two innings of the Padres game - we beat Dodgers 5-1, so now 8-15.

*  Online at 10:10 p.m. to read email and blogs, then wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

Treasure Chest Thursday - 28 April 2016

Happy 8th birthday to my precious Audrey.  What a kid!  Stayed home and searched all day pretty much.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 311: 1734 Birth Record of Elizabeth Prescott in Westford, Mass.

*  Decided to transcribe Elizabeth Auble's will so I can get on with the heirs, and wrote Making Progress on My Auble Cousins - Post 2: Transcription of Elizabeth Auble's Will.

*  Worked in Ancestry most of the rest of the afternoon tracking down records for Nathan's line and Hampton's line.  Added content and sources to the database.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch the NFL Draft, read the paper, watched TV and ate dinner.  Watered the front plants.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and did a bit more searching.  Resolved 145 Ancestry Hints also.  Sources now at 71,841.  Got the 52 Ancestors work done and ready for thep ost tomorrow.   No Padres game tonight!  Called Cox about Linda's TV - finally got it working after 40 minutes.

*  Checked Facebook, answered email and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

My Genealogy Tuesday - 26 April 2016

This was another stay-at-home genealogy day and I had some fun finding more Auble records.  Cut the back yard also, and am sore from the effort.  Watched the Padres lose again.

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Treasure Chest Tuesday - 1852 Will of Ichabod Kirby (1782-1857) of Westport, Mass.

*  Worked on the Sophia (Auble) (Foster) Hulse problem and got it all sorted out.  Absolutely unique information - no one else has done it.  Added stuff to FamilySearch Family Tree.

*  After lunch, practiced my 10 Free websites talk - took an hour.  Good.  Wrote FamilySearch Research Wiki Makeover.

*  Added more Auble data to the database, checked Facebook.  Went out at 3 p.m. to mow the back yard - the grass and weeds were high...spent 90 minutes doing this and it was tiring.  I'm in terrible shape.  Came in hot and sore, but got it done.  Did not take a nap again today.

*  Watched TV news, ate dinner, then came in at 6 p.m. to write One More Contribution to SNGF Childhood Memories.  Read email, added to the Best Of post, and checked Facebook.

*  Went in at 7:15 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and read my book.  Got the presentation on the laptop and the flash drive.  Read email, Facebook and blogs.  Padres lost to Giants 1-0, so now 7-14 on the season.

My Genealogy Monday - 25 April 2016

It seems like today was several days ago - that's what I get for staying up later than usual.

*  Read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and then joined Mondays With Myrt.  We discussed many topics, including the AncestryDNA change coming, Diane's RI probate list and my work in using it, and my finding that Martha Kirby's will is missing.  Noted that Amanuensis Monday - Post 317: 1792 Will of Benjamin Sowle (1719-1803) of Westport, Mass. and Added or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 17 to 23 April 2016 posted.

*  Read, then worked on adding some of Elizabeth Auble's siblings to the database.  Had a great time finding records for only one of the siblings, added four more generations.  Still have work to do there.  Did not take a nap for the first time in weeks.  On the hunt!  Eventually wrote Making Progress on My Auble cousins - Post 1: Finding Elizabeth's Will.

*  Worked some more in the records looking for data on a second sibling of Elizabeth's.  Found her probate record, but it wasn't helpful.  Checked Elizabeth and other folks on GenealogyBank and Findmypast also.  Still need to work in FamilySearch and MyHeritage, and FSFT.  Checked Facebook, and answered email.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch TV and eat dinner, then online at 6:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and answer email.

*  Went in at 7:15 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, read my book, check email and Facebook and Feedly on the tablet.  Padres lost 5-4 to the Giants so now 7-13.

*  Online to read, then wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

My Semi-Genealogy Weekend - 23 and 24 April 2016

It was the weekend and I didn't spend it all on genealogy - hey, I have a life, you know.  I think...

1)  Saturday, 23 April 2016:

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Surname Saturday - HATHAWAY (England to colonial New England) posted, and took off at 9 a.m. for the Scripps Ranch library, about 23 miles north.

*  got there at 9:30 a.m., got set up, found I left my handouts at home, so emailed the PDF to thel ibrary and they printed them up.  Good manager!  Gave my Genealogy, Be an Ancestry Detective talk to about 35 folks, and they asked a lot of questions afterwards.  Left at noon and home by 12:30 p.m.  Had lunch.

*  Online for awhile, took a nap, noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Share Your Childhood Memories posted.  Checked Facebook.  Added to the Best Of post.

*  We left at 4 p.m. for the Padres game.  Stopped at Pollo Loco for Linda's meal, then the trolley and were there by 5:15 p.m.  Had to walk over to get the drinks, then go to Park at the Park to get Linda a different shirt size, and then stood in line twice to get my Big Dog and then ice cream. . Missed two of the first four innings.  Padres lost 11-2, but we were ahead 2-1 in the 6th to the Cards.  Bullpen fail.  Drat - now 7-11.  We are 1-3 while in attendance.

*  Home by 9:30 p.m. to read, found the Elizabeth Auble will on Ancestry and noted that I don't have everything I need to make sense of that family.  This may be fun!

*  Genealogy on Saturday was 5.0 hours.

2)  Sunday, 24 April 2016:

*  Read email on my phone while watching TV, then off to church at 9:30 a.m. and home by 11:30 a.m.

*  Wrote the Ancestry and FS posts, then downloaded Elizabeth's probate papers from Ancestry, and started investigating the leads from it.  Pretty spotty information available for the folks mentioned.

*  Went in at 1:40 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, dozed for about an hour.  Padres were ahead 5-3 in the 6th, but Cards won 8-5 as the bullpen failed again.  Ate dinner, and watered the front plants.  Now 7-12 on the season.

*  Online at 6 p.m. to read, note that Best of the Genea-Blogs - 17 to 23 April 2016 and Added or Updated Databases at Ancestry.com - Week of 17 to 23 April 2016 posted.  Wrote "The 10 Best FREE Genealogy Websites" Talk on Wednesday, 27 April at CVGS and set it for later.

*  Transcribed the Benjamin Sowle will and wrote the Amanuensis Monday post for Monday, then worked some more on the leads from Elizabeth's will.

*  Went in at 9 p.m. to watch WDYTYA?  An interesting but sad story - the records were interesting.  Nice to see a homestead record too.

*  Online at 10 p.m. to read, then wrote this post.  Genealogy today was only 5.5 hours.

My Genealogy Friday - 22 April 2016

Earth Day again - what a farce.  See Scaring us for 45 years... guess you know where I stand.  Did genealogy most of the day, but made no real progress.

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote 52 Ancestors - Week 121: #144 Zachariah Hildreth (1728-1784), and then New Records Available To Search This Findmypast Friday, 22 April 2016 and set it for later.

*  Checked Fold3, answered email, and wrote Genealogy Blog Party - Time Travel to an Ancestor and set it for later.  Took my nap.

*  Online at 2 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and watch Geoff's DNA webinar.  Checked Facebook, then wrote the Surname Saturday post.

*  Went in to watch TV and eat dinner at 5:30 p.m. and online again at 6:15 p.m. to read and write the SNGF post.  Talked to Lori on the phone.  Searched GenBank for 2016 obituaries for Seaver folks.  16 so far.  Added several to the database.

*  Went in at 7:40 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and make sure the presentation was on the laptop.  It wasn't.  Found a flash drive and transferred it.  Ready to go.  Padres beat the Cards 4-1 in the best game of the year to date.  Now 7-10.

*  Online to read, and write this post.  Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

This was a pretty busy genealogy day, I didn't finish any tasks, but I did make some progress.

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 310: List of Children of Zachariah and Elizabeth (Prescott) Hildreth.  Worked on the Hildreth deeds - got 6 abstracted.

*  Left at 11 a.m. to get a haircut - Dave wasn't there again but a studded young lady (I think) snipped my curls away.

*  Home by noon, to write AncestryDNA Changes Are Coming and have lunch, then added to the Best Of post and had my nap.

*  Online at 2:30 p.m. to read,  Worked more on the Hildreth deeds, then found some more and didn't abstract those, but I need to.  Checked Facebook, and wrote Dear Randy: How Do You Source Find A Grave Memorials?

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch TV, eat dinner, water the front plants, then watched the Padres game, read the paper, washed dishes, and checked email, blogs and Facebook.  Padres lost to Pirates 11-1, so now 6-10 on the season.

My Genealogy Wednesday - 6 April 2016

Seven days since my last post.  I've been busy.  We went to Las Vegas on 31 March until 3 April, and we've been to the Padres games on Monday and Tuesday nights this week.  I have done very little genealogy work the past week.

*  Today, read email and blogs, then wrote Bondi Beach and Sydney Aquarium -- Post 407 of (Not So) Wordless WednesdaySDGS Program on Saturday, 9 April Features John Finch, and American Ancestors by NEHGS Announces an Unprecedented, Historic Event for Genealogists: A BILLION Records FREE! and set the last two for later in the day.  Answered email, and printed off the CVGS reports.

*  Left at 11 a.m.  for McDonalds for lunch, the bank, then the library for John's group and the CVGS Bored meeting.  Home by 2:45 p.m. and took my nap.

*  Online at 3:30 p.m. to add to the Best Of post, answer email, and then worked on the CVGS newsletter a bit - maybe 25% done.

*  Went in at 5:20 p.m. to watch TV news, eat dinner, and then the Padres game at 6:10.  Padres lost 7-0 completing a 3 game sweep by the Dodgers, setting a major league record for futility of 27 innings without scoring at the start of the season.  Crap!

*  Spent the last hour of the game watching my tablet update the operating system and all 146 apps.  Checked Facebook.  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.
