Well, it was exciting to me, at least!
* Read email and blogs, made Surname Saturday - WATHEN/WORTHEN (England > Massachusetts) post, and wrote Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Do Some Random Research.
* Decided I'd better get my column finished up before the editor complains that I'm late. Now I need to edit it a bit.
* Worked in the database for awhile, adding content and sources, and deleting extraneous families for whom I have no information and can find no useful or consistent information. good riddance!. Did a little weeding in the front yard too.
* We went to Lolita's for dinner, then home to watch the Padres lose 2-1 to the Giants (best game of the year, though! Darn errors and bad luck. Bass had a perfecto through 5.2 innings).
* Online at 8:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, get it ready for posting, wrote an Amanuensis Monday post, and worked in Find-a-Grave for awhile. Got through 640 in Seaver.
* Wrote this post.

Database progress: Persons - 41,267, Events = 111,686, Places = 5314, Citations = 28,252.
Genealogy and family research are an obsession for me. Yea, verily, I am a Geneaholic!

My exciting genealogy day - 27 April 2012
Less than two weeks until we leave on our vacation to Europe. I have so much to do, and didn't get much of it done today. Again. At least the Padres won again.
* Read email and blogs, then wrote Follow-Up Friday - Helpful and Interesting Reader Comments.
* Captured screens and wrote up Using RootsMagic 5 to Add to the FamilySearch Family Tree.
* Left at 11 a.m. for the doctor's office. Home by 12:30 to eat lunch and read, then had to go ut again to the gas station, church and the bank because I forgot to do it earlier. Drat.
* Wrote the Surname Saturday post, and found some resources on AA that I didn't have, so downloaded 35 pages of NEHGR articles. Added the vital info to the database, but need the notes too. Will have to do that later!
* Went in at 5:30 p.m. to eat dinner. Back online by 6 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and write CVGS Program Summary - Dr. Steven Baird and another post.
* Went in at 7 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and then finished the Connelly novel. forgot about WDYTYA...drat. Pads won 5-3 over the Giants (now 7-14, won 4 of 6).
* Online at 10:15 to read, then write this post.

My exciting genealogy day - 26 April 2012
It was a busy genealogy day, and then my Padres won tonight.
* Online early to read, then noted that Treasure Chest Thursday - Zachariah and Hannah Hildreth Death Records posted. Wrote Ancestry/Archives Comment Compendium.
* Packed up the laptop and left at 9:10 a.m. for Norman Park Center for the CVGS program to beginners. It started at 10 a.m., featured Susi, Randy, John and Janice, and was well received. I gave my 40 minute version of Genealogy - Be An Ancestry Detective.
* Stopped at McDonalds for lunch and was home by 1 p.m. Read everything, noted that the Ancestry.com TOS flap was fixed as I hoped it would be, and wrote Adding "Cause of Death" Fact to RootsMagic 5.
* Worked in the database for several hours, adding Cause of Death information, and BMD information for people without birth dates, mainly using the Mass VRs on American Ancestors and Ancestry census records to obtain data.
* Worked for 30 minutes on the back door screen installation, had dinner, and back online at 6 p.m. to read, check Facebook, and do some more database work.
* Went in at 7 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper and then my Michael Connelly book. Padres won 2-1 over Washington (6-14 on the season).
* Back online at 10 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and write this post.

Another exciting genealogy day - 25 April 2012
This was a very busy genealogy day - I even got some database work done in the evening.
* Read email and blogs, noted that (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Post 202: The Baseball Guys posted and wrote Dear Randy - Can You Describe Your Genealogy Workflow?
* Printed off 30 copies of my handout, got the laptop and CVGS bag together, and off at 10:15 to my PEO talk on "Genealogy - Be An Ancestor Detective" in Old Town.
* Got there early, got the laptop up and hooked up, and started at 11:10 a.m. Finished at 11:45, answered questions , disconnected, and off at 12 noon for the CVGS meeting.
* Got to the CV library at 12:25 p.m., and enjoyed the meeting and the speaker. Stuck around for awhile to meet with colleagues on Thursday talk.
* home by 2:45 p.m. to read, then connected to Ancestry phone call on Archives acquisition. That was over at 4 p.m., so I wrote it up in Comments on Archives.com Acquisition by Ancestry.com.
* Went in to watch the Padres game, read the paper, take a nap, and eat dinner (we lost to Nats 7-2, now 5-14).
* Back online at 6 p.m. for the Judy Russell webinar. Two hours non-stop of excellent legal advice about copyright. Judy answered questions for 45 minutes.
* Read everything, wrote the Treasure Chest Thursday post and screwed up - it posted tonight instead of Thursday...oh well. Worked in the database creating a "Cause of Death" Fact and added some to the database, plus added more census and occupation facts to the database with sources.
* Added to the Best Of post, wrote this post and i'm done. Now I realize I didn't index today. Oh well!

My genealogy day - 24 April 2012
I felt crappy all day long, headache, queasy tummy, slight fever, eyes aching. Hope I'm not coming down with something. I have presentations to do the next two days. Stayed home today again.
* Read email and blogs, then wrote Tuesday's Tip - Pennsylvania Collections on FamilySearch and then Lesson Learned: Don't Trust Online Family Trees.
* Wrote three posts for the week we're gone and one for Wednesday also. Copied files from flash drive to laptop today.
* Answered some emails, and had a phone call with a potential new member.
* Wrote Don't Forget to Register for SCGS Genealogy Jamboree.
* Worked in the database for several hours - adding content and sources while deleting loose persons. Database tonight is People = 41,266, Events = 111,515, and Sources = 28,061.
* Went in at 5:30 p.m. to eat dinner, back online to answer email, do some FamilySearch Indexing (one totally blank page, and a page with only 15 lines of data on it).
* Back to the recliner at 7 p.m. for the Padres game. We lost to Nationals 3-1 in a good game. Drat (5-13 now).
* Added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.

My genealogy day - 23 April 2012
It was an all-genealogy day, but I didn't do what I expected to do. Oh well, had some fun.
* Read email and blogs, then wrote Amanuensis Monday - Probate Records of Samuel Tefft (1644-1725) of South Kingstown, R.I.
* Watched the episode I missed of Finding Your Roots, then wrote Whose Charts are shown on PBS "Finding Your Roots" Series?
* Read Paul Larsen's new eBook, and wrote eBook Review - My Family History Toolbox, by Paul Larsen.
* Worked in the database, adding content and sources - got into the Ann listings. Finding that I can get birth/marriage/death info for about 80% of the ones that are completely blank between AMTs, census records, and vital records.
* Went in for dinner at 5;30 p.m., read the paper, and watched TV.
* Back online at 7 p.m. to transfer data to the flash drive to transfer to the laptop. Read everything and added to the Best Of post. Made airplane seat reservations tonight.
* Sent some email, did a FamilySearch Indexing batch, checked Facebook, did about 40 entries for Seaver from Find-a-Grave (up to about 660 now), and wrote this post.

My genealogy day - 20 April 2012
19 days until we go on our cruise. I need to start writing posts for those two weeks. Also need to work on the two cruise talks.
* Read email and blogs, then wrote Follow-Up Friday - This Week's Reader Comments and Questions.
* Worked on Barry's research problem for an hour looking for Donna's dad... wrote an email back about it. Decided I could blog about it too, so wrote Dear Randy - Help Me Find Donna's Father's Name.
* Went off at 1:45 p.m. to get a haircut, and home by 2:30 p.m. Worked in the database for awhile, then wrote the Surname Saturday post.
* Went in at 5:430 to eat dinner, and back online to research Hannah Smith. Some trees say her parents were Richard Smith and Hannah Cheney. I don't have enough info to make that conclusion. No recent works on richard smith of Newbury MA to help em.
* Went in at 7 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and read my book. The Pads lost 4-1 to the Phillies (now 3-13).
* Back to work at 10 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook and write this post. No Indexing tonight.
* The database-- People = 41261, Events = 111144, Sources = 27801. I deleted more no-info persons today, mainly from the Remley tree stump. Have worked my way down to Anderson on the Person list.

My genealogy days - 21 and 22 April 2012
1) Saturday, 21 April 2012
* Read email and blogs, then off to breakfast at Jimmy's for the men's Bible study. Studied Mormonism. Good breakfast - I love bacon and eggs, with an English muffin.
* Home by 9:30 a.m. to post Surname Saturday - HEALEY (England > Massachusetts > New Hampshire).
* Wrote Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Do a Wordle Cloud and set it for later. blogger's scheduling still not working.
* Worked in the database for awhile, finding census and VR records for persons in my database. Down to the Ann collection...this may take awhile. Also added lots of occupation and census facts for Seaver family members.
* Did a batch of Indexing, and checked the last two batches. Messed up all of the freaking line numbers ... did 1 to 40, they were 41 to 80. The only mistakes on that batch - got 92% to bring my average down to 97%.
* Worked some more in the database.
* We left at 3:30 p.m. for the Padres game. Got a new Padres hat. Had Filippi's pizza at Petco for dinner. Pads beat the Phils 5-1 in a good game (now 4-12, still in last place).
* Home by 9 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook, and decided not to journal tonight.
Genealogy today was 6.0 hours.

* Made our hotel reservations for Jamboree - just need the train tickets now. Still need to buy airline seat reservations. Worked in the database for awhile.

My genealogy day - 19 April 2012
It was a stay at home genealogy day, and then a night out!
* Read email and blogs, wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - 1950 San Diego Plat Map. Then wrote Patriot's Day: My Revolutionary War Soldiers.
* Worked a bit on my FORUM column, but nowhere near done. Did some research on smart phones, tablets and readers. Updated apps on the Samsung and the iPhone. Went out and weeded the walkway a bit.
* Had fun finding Ted in the census, and wrote up Ted Williams in the 1940 U.S. Census. Did a batch of FamilySearch Indexing - still in Glendale, Los Angeles County, CA.
* Worked in the database for several hours (hmmm, need to work on my column, and get the two talks for May ready, and work on my two new talks for July) adding content and sources. Now through the "Al" people. "Am" people up next. At this rate, the database will be in good shape by about 2015.
* Went in at 5:15 p.m. to read the paper, and we left at 5:30 for dinner in Coronado and then to Lamb's Players Theater for "Brownie Points." A chick play, but funny and interesting. Short too, which was good.
* Home by 9:30 to watch the 9th inning of the Padres/Phillies game. We lost 2-0 (now 3-11).
* Online to add to the Best Of post, check Facebook and write this post.

My genealogy day - 18 April 2012
Not a very exciting day genealogy-wise or Padres wise...lost again.
* Read email and blogs, wrote (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Post 201: Christmas 1967 and then CGSSD Meeting on Saturday, 21 April on Computer Security.
* Edited the two talks for next week.
* Wrote Results from Ancestry.com Autosomal DNA Test - Post 2 and set it for later. The Blogger scheduler isn't working now... hope it gets fixed soon!
* Packed up and went off at 11 a.m. to McDonalds for lunch, the bank and the library for the CVGS Computer Group. That could have gone better - too many computers not working, and too slow on the Internet. Got lost in Chronicling America - couldn't find the newspaper search field. Drat. Found several people in the census for others.
* Home by 2 p.m. to read, then wrote I Found a Bride of Frankenstein in the 1940 U.S. Census and set it for later. Worked in the database for awhile, finding dates/places in American Ancestors and Ancestry census records.
* Went out at 4:15 p.m. to mow the front lawn. In by 5 p.m. to read the paper, then watch the Padres, eat dinner, put out the trash, and wash the dishes. Read a bit of my new Ireland Research book. Padres lost 8-4 to Rockies (now 3-10).
* Online at 8:30 p.m. to read, did a batch of FamilySearch Indexing, added to the Best Of post, checked in on Facebook, and wrote this post.

My genealogy day - 17 April 2012
Tax return day ... I avoided the rush and sent ours in last week. Wrote big checks too...drat!
* Read email and blogs, then went off to the Derma Doc for my semi-annual inspection. She burned some head and arm spots. Stopped at the pharmacy.
* Home by 9:30 a.m., noted that the Tuesday's Tip - SamPubCo has Probate Indexes and more post did not publish when I set it - I don't know why! Posted it.
* Answered some email, then wrote 1940 U.S. Census Source Citation in RootsMagic 5 - Census Image Source Template.
* I meant to work on the upcoming presentations and my column...but doing online research sounded like more fun. Added data from Find-a-Grave links in a blog comment, and added Seaver data for family from email correspondent.
* Decided to do a FamilySearch Indexing batch since I forgot to do it last night. That went OK. Checked my arbitrated results and got POed that I had errors and wrote FamilySearch Indexing Challenges - Post 2. I think Celia has the right attitude - you really can't do better than 98% over long term.
* Back to online research and adding database content and sources. Did quite a bit today, but have thousands more people to "fix."
* Went in at 5:30 p.m. to eat dinner, then watched the Padres lose to Colorado 5-3 (so now 3-9).
* Online at 8:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook, get into the airline site to deal with passports, seat selection and food choices. Wrote this post.

My genealogy day - 14 April 2012
It was a typical second Saturday of the month - SDGS, SNGF, Padres, etc.
* Read email and blogs, wrote SNGF post, noted that Surname Saturday - BARBER (England > Rhode Island) posted before packing up and leaving at 9 a.m. for the SDGS meeting.
* Got there by 9:30 a.m., kibitzed with friends, then we watched the McCullough video (at NGS 2010 in SLC) and heard Joan Lowrey talk about passenger lists and the errors that can occur.
* Went to lunch with Pam, Gene, Chris, Phyllis and Jackie. Good to see Gene and Pam again.
* Home at 2:30 p.m. to read, noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Latin Genealogy Sayings posted.
* Answered some email, then worked in the database to add content and sources for Seaver spouses in Mass. using American Ancestors. Current people/events/citations is 41293/110807/27722.
* Went in at 5:30 for dinner, then back for a bit, and then in to watch the Padres lose again to the Dodgers 6-1. Read the paper and my book.
* Online again at 8:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, index a batch from Los Angeles County, whine about arbitration on Facebook, and write this post.

My genealogy days - 12 and 13 April 2012
Two days of stay-at-home writing, researching and watching Padres games. The first two items were good, the latter not so much.
1) Thursday, 12 April:
* Read email and blogs, wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - the Seaver 1940 Census Page and then researched and wrote Finding 1940 Census Images on FamilySearch.org.
* Finally got around to balancing the checkbook, then answered some email.
* Wrote 1940 U.S. Census Source Citation with Legacy Family Tree 7.5, then wrote Moe Howard (A Stooge) in the 1940 US Census and set it for later.
.
* Decided to do something useful, so worked in the database, adding content and sources mostly for 19th century people in Massachusetts using census and vital records.
* Had dinner, came back to the computer and read, checked in on Facebook, and answered some email.
* Went in at 7 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper and my book. It ended badly, 3-1 to Arizona.
* Briefly online to read, add to the Best Of post, and went off to bed without journaling.
Genealogy this day was 9.5 hours.
2) Friday, 13 April:
* Read email and blogs, wrote Follow-Up Friday - 1940 Census and More and Some Interesting 1940 U.S. Census Entries and set it for later.
* Synced my FTM 2012 database with the Ancestry tree, then worked in the tablet using ancestry. Interesting I didn't see shaky leaves. I was able to search Ancestry using the browser and add data to my tree on the tablet. This needs more work.
* Wrote Creating a 1940 U.S. Census Source Citation in Family Tree Maker 2012 after lunch and then collected and reviewed the SD maps on the City Planning site, and wrote San Diego Historical Maps and set it for later.
* Wrote two posts for the weekend, and added content to the database for three of my Rhode Island families.
* Went in for dinner at 5:30, and back to listen to Geneabloggers Radio at 6 p.m. Good show with lots of call-ins about the 1940 census successes. Listened to Outloud for a while too.
* Went in at 7:45 p.m. to watch the Padres/Dodgers game. We lost 9-8 with a bases loaded walk in the 9th inning. Pads are now 2-6 on the season.
* Online to add to the Best Of post, check Facebook and write this post.
Genealogy this day was 10.0 hours.

My genealogy day - 11 April 2012
We're finally getting serious about the cruise - we depart in four weeks!
* Read email and blogs, wrote (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Post 200: Smith, Carringer and Dyar Families at the Beach.
* Wrote SDGS Meeting on Saturday, 14 April - Joan Lowrey and David McCullough and Using the MyHeritage Mobile App and set them for later in the day. Looked through two EDs in Putnam CT for the Richmond families - no luck!
* Gathered my stuff, went to McDonalds for lunch, then to the post office, and then the library for the Research Group.
* We had 13 for the Research Group, and went through the 1940 US Census projects one by one.
* Home by 2:15 p.m. to read, then added content and sources to the database.
* Went in at 3:50 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper then my book, eat dinner, and put out the trash. Pads won 2-1.
* Online at 7 p.m. to read, print off some cruise papers for Linda, then did a 1940 Census indexing batch (asked on G+ and Facebook how to handle long dashes in 1935 residence fields...assume they're ditto marks!). Worked then in Find-a-Grave looking for Seavers. Almost got through the 601-640 page.
* Added to the best of post, checked the database (41,292 people, 110,726 events, 27,682 citations), and wrote this post.

My genealogy day - 10 April 2012
I got several tasks completed today...and my Padres lost again.
* Read email and blogs, wrote Tuesday's Tip - Find New York Records on FamilySearch.
* Wrote my Graveyard Rabbit article and sent it to Robin. Done!
* Accuracy in FamilySearch Indexing - My Results To Date posted and received many comments.
* Double checked the income tax file, finished it, e-filed it, printed off the forms, and wrote checks to pay it off. Done!
* Answered some emails. Researched and wrote Feeding my Family Tree - Massachusetts Folks and continued working in the database, adding content and sources for several more families.
* Went in for dinner at 5:15 p.m. and watched TV afterwards until 6 p.m.
* Online at 6 p.m. to check Facebook, then did an Indexing batch from Humboldt County CA. Looks like the indexing is progressing alphabetically by county. Added to the Best Of post.
* Went in at 7 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, read my book, play Angry birds and check email and blogs on the iPhone. Pads lost 4-2 to Zonies in 11 innings. Drat.
* Online at 10:40 p.m. to read, and write this post.

My genealogy day - 9 April 2012
We leave for Oslo in exactly one month! I'm down to one item on my to-do list - get airline seats! No Padres game tonight, so I can have a genealogy night!
* Read email and blogs, researched and wrote Amanuensis Monday - Probate Records of Thomas Greenman (1669-1728) of Kingstown, Rhode Island.
* Finished up the CVGS newsletter. Printed it out, did the labels, and am ready to take it to the UPS Store this afternoon.
* Noted that 1940 U.S. Census Lessons Learned - Read the Whole ED posted. Worked on Before Doing FamilySearch Indexing, RTFM and set it fior early afternoon.
* Finally got around to reserving a room in Oslo for two nights. A choice of two hotels, neither wonderful price or amenity wise. Chose the one with two twin beds as opposed to one double bed! It's several kilometers from downtown Oslo. Maybe we'll take a tour on our free day.
* Left at 1:30 p.m. to go to the UPS Store to publish the CVGS Newsletter. Sent off 26 in the mail, have 14 for Board to use for publicity and membership. Stopped by the church office to sign a form.
* Home by 2:30 p.m. to work in the database, using American Ancestors VR databases and Ancestry census records to find BMDs for people in my database. This is fun work, and I get to add content and sources (110,651 events, 27,625 citations). Only another 20 years or so and I'll have it done!
* Sent CVGS Newsletter off to the CVGS members. Posted Titanic Memorial Infographic from Geni.com.
* Went in at 6 p.m. for dinner, then watched TV and read the paper for awhile.
* Back online at 7 p.m. to read, then wrote post for Tuesday on Indexing and arbitration. Did a batch of 1940 census for Glenn county CA tonight, being extra careful to double check my work.
* Checked in on Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.

My genealogy weekend - 6-8 April 2012
It was a very busy weekend, and I got very little accomplished because of Tami's family visit and the Saturday talk in Huntington Beach.
1) Friday, 6 April 2012:
* Read email and blogs, wrote Ancestry.com Using Steve Morse 1940 Census ED Finder and then Follow-Up Friday - Reader's Comments Answered and set it for later in the morning.
* Double-checked everything for Saturday - got the laptop case packed.
* Researched and wrote the SNGF post and forgot to set it for Saturday, so it was live online for an hour on Friday. Texicanwife posted hers in response - a day early! Copied it, then edited it, and then deleted it from the post queue.
* Worked a bit in the database, and added content and sources for several families. Wrote Celebrity 1940 US Census Records Collection.
* We left at 4:30 p.m. for the Padres game. Lost to Dodgers 6-0 in a terrible game. We left after 7 innings, so home by 10 p.m. and I read but not much else.
Genealogy this day was 7.5 hours
2) Saturday, 7 April 2012
* Read email and blogs, noted that blog posts were ready to go.
* We left at 8:30 a.m. for the 105 mile trip to Huntington Beach - all freeway except for the last three miles. Everything went well until we hit San Clemente, then we did 3 miles in 30 minutes because the friggin' highway folks were closing off one lane!
* We got to the HB Library at 10:45 a.m., just in time for the 11 a.m. start of the program. I gave my GPS/RES talk, then we had a lunch break (turkey sandwich and chips), and I did the My Favorite Ancestor talk. Done by 1:30 p.m., but we didn't leave the building until 2 p.m.
* Decided to come home on the beach route - probably a mistake. Finally got to CV at 4:30 so went to Black Angus for dinner.
* Home by 6 p.m. to wait for Tami's family. Noted that Surname Saturday - GREENMAN (England > Rhode Island) and Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - A Genealogy Easter Egg Hunt posted.
They came by 6:30 .m. and I played with the girls, while we watched the Padres game (lost again, 6-5 in 11 innings) on TV.
* Read email and blogs after 9 p.m., finished up the Best Of post, wrote Census-whacking on Easter-oriented Names and set it for early morning, but that was it.
Genealogy this day was all of 4.5 hours.
3) Sunday, 8 April 2012
* Up early but had to entertain the girls for awhile - the iPhone is great for that! Tami and James got up fairly early, the girls had their egg hunt in the living room, and we had a pancake breakfast. Then Tami and I hid eggs in the front yard for the girls. Got some video of that.
* We went off to church at 9:30 a.m., and home by 11:30. Tami and her family left for the SD Zoo Safari Park and then home. I noted that Best of the Genea-Blogs - 1 to 7 April 2012 posted, then went in to read the paper, watch the Padres game (we won, 8-4, now 1-3), and dozed for awhile.
* Online at 4 p.m. to read, then finished up the CVGS Newsletter and it's ready to publish on Monday. Watched some of two Legacy webinars and downloaded the syllabus for the cruise (We're only a five weeks away now!). Went in for dinner at 5:30 p.m., and back online by 6 p.m.
* Worked in the database using Ancestry census records and American Ancestors vital records to find Mass. BMDs and added events/sources (110596/27613).
* Reviewed my FamilySearch Indexing errors (95% on last 1940 batch...drat). Did another batch for California (Fresno County) with Japanese, Chinese and Yugoslavian people on it.
* Read blogs, searched the 1940 census again for Severt Leland and found him, so wrote a post for Monday about it with Lessons Learned. Wrote this post.
Genealogy today was 6.0 hours.

My genealogy day - 5 April 2012
The baseball season has begun, which means that my genealogy time will be reduced significantly almost every day. There are choices in life...and that was one reason to buy a smart phone and a tablet - to help me watch the ball games on TV while reading email, blogs, Google Plus, Facebook, Twitter, news, sports, etc. Maybe I'll even do some FamilySearch Indexing and Ancestry shaky leaf attaching too! There was method in my madness, see?
* Read email and blogs, then wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Carringer 1940 US Census Page.
* Did one more edit on the presentations for Saturday, added more comments, corrected some, separated several slides into two. Transferred them to the flash drive and to Dropbox, and got them into the laptop also. All set!
* Noted that I'm Presenting at Orange County Genealogical Society on Saturday, 7 April posted, and then wrote Genealogy Days in Chula Vista - April 2012 and CVGS Seminar Review - "British Isles to America and Migrating West."
* Had lunch, read blogs, Facebook and Twitter, and posted Interesting Tweets for "1940 census" Today.
* We left at 2 p.m. for the trolley station and were in our seats at Petco Park by 3 p.m. Pre-game started at 3:30 with introductions, and the game at 4. We lost to Dodgers 5-3. The smart phone cell service was poor, as was the free wi-fi, so pictures didn't get posted to Facebook.
* Home by 8 p,.m. to read, answer email, then worked on the CVGS Newsletter. got it 90% complete with final editing needed.
* Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, charging the smart phone, and wrote this post.
* No online research, no database work, no Indexing, no census, not much progress made today (except for the presentation!).

My genealogy day - 4 April 2012
It was an all genealogy day, but I feel like I made little progress in anything.
* Read email and blogs, then wrote (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Post 199: Dad's Favorite Females and 1940 Census Scorekeepers. Found the Wood family in Salem NH in the 1940 census - had to search two EDs. Still no sign of my grandmother!
* Answered some emails, then should have worked on my taxes but I didn't. Drat. Packed up at 11 a.m. and went of to McDonalds for lunch, then to the CV Library for the CVGS Board meeting.
* CVGS seminar was pretty successful, but some glitches to be fixed next time. I need to start on the CVGS Newsletter tonight...
* Home by 3 p.m. to read, then wrote Recent Genealogy Webinars Available Online and 1940 U.S. Census Release Infographic. Added Lincoln data to the database.
* Went in for dinner at 5:15 p.m., and took out the trash and filled the bird feeder.
* Online again at 5:45 p.m. to read, then watched webinar while continuing to add Lincoln data to the database. Made new pedigree charts for Lauren, and sent them to Tami.
* Did a batch of 1940 census for Alameda County CA. Reviewed my accuracy stats, only 94% overall. Messed up about 5 things on the 1940 page I did yesterday.
* Wrote a post for Thursday and one for Saturday, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post. The baseball season starts on Thursday, and we're going to the Padres games on Thursday and Friday nights.

My genealogy day - 3 April 2012
It was a very full genealogy day, mostly devoted to the 1940 US Census. I should have worked on the income taxes, but I didn't.
* Read email and blogs, wrote Tuesday's Tip - Ancestry.com's 1940s-Era Collections are Free until 10 April and then Using the MyHeritage 1940 U.S. Census Images. Downloaded the Leominster EDs and searched them - found both Freds, Ruth and Gerry, but not Bess or Ed.
* Posted MyHeritage 1940 Census Site Problems? and Interesting Infographic Compares 1940 and 2010 Census Information.
* Found the Schaffner and Leland folks in San Francisco in the 1940 census. Wrote Steve Morse 1940 Census Site Takes You to NARA Census Images.
* Worked in the database for awhile adding content and sources, then wrote My Father in the 1940 U.S. Census.
* Went in for dinner at 5 p.m., then watched TV for awhile, and back to the keyboard before 6 p.m. for DearMYRTLE's webinar.
* Did one page of Colorado 1940 Census indexing, then worked more in the database. Checked in on Facebook, made pedigree charts for Tami, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.

My genealogy days - 1 and 2 April 2012
April started with a whimper, at least for the 1940 US Census debut.
1) Sunday, 1 April 2012:
* Read email and blogs, finished up Best of the Genea-Blogs - 25 to 31 March 2012 and set it for after noon.
* Went off to church at 9:30. Talked to Paul A. about genealogy afterwards. Home by 11:45 a.m. to watch TV, eat lunch.
* Worked on the GPS presentation a bit - added examples to first part. Worked in the database for awhile. Wrote Evidence Explained Website Launched in the evening.
* After dinner, worked some more on the database trying to find content and sources, especially for Buck families in New England.
Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.
2) Monday, 2 April 2012:
* Up by 5:30 a.m. to get ready for the 1940 census debut at 6 a.m. Got ready, put my info in right at 6, and the site never provided anything for four hours when I gave up.
* Posted First Look at 1940 U.S. Census Page, Using the NARA 1940 Census Website, Amanuensis Monday - Probate Records of Joseph Champlin (1758-1850) of South Kingston, Rhode Island, and The 1940 U.S. Census on Ancestry.com in the morning. Lots of tweeting and Facebooking and Google Plus too.
* Worked on the GPS presentation some more, adding data and content to the second part. Then worked in the database for awhile. Posted Enumeration District Maps on Ancestry.com and Not the highlight of my genealogy day in the afternoon.
* We left for dinner at 4:30 p.m. and were back by 5:45 p.m.
* Tuned into the DearMYRTLE webinar on the 1940 Census, and then saw that San Diego EDs were available on Ancestry.com. Wrote My Carringers in the 1940 US Census while listening to the webinar.
* Went in to watch the end of the basketball game. Back online at 9 p.m. to read, work a bit in the database, check in on Facebook, add to the Best Of post, and write this post.
Genealogy today was 13.0 hours. Mostly wasted trying to make the National Archives site work. It never did.
