Genea-Journal - 29-30 September 2019

I have no clue why I didn't journal last night - forgot?  Maybe.  A cooler day today, high around 72F, low around 60F.

1)  Sunday, 29 September:

*  Transcribed the deed, went to church, home by 11:30 to watch the Chargers game (they won 30-10) and the Padres game (they lost 1-0 to Dbacks, so end at 70-92).  

*  Online about 3:30 to note that Added and Updated Ancestry.com Record Collections - Week of 22 to 28 September 2019 and Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 22 to 28 September 2019 posted.  Resolved 256 Ancestry Hints.

*  Had dinner, worked on the roses, and online at 6:30 p.m. to resolve 129 Hints, then TreeShared 102 profiles to get back to equality.  Added to the Best Of post, and checked Facebook.  Worked some in Family Tree adding Brigham line families.  Genealogy this day was 5.5 hours.

2)  Monday, 30 September 2019

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read, add to the Best Of post, and noted that Amanuensis Monday -- 1764 Deed of Simon Gates Buying Land from Joseph Brown in Middlesex County, Massachusetts posted.  Wrote #ProjectGenealogy Launches on 4 October 2019.

*  Picked up Linda, and home by 9 a.m. to get into Mondays With Myrt.  Shared about my DNA challenge.  Tired afterwards, so took my nap.

*  Had lunch, then wrote Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 29 September 2019.  Checked Twitter and Facebook.  Worked on the CVGS survey for an hour.  Added more Brigham line family members.

* Went in at 5:15 for dinner, watched TV news, read the paper and did the dishes.  

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, wrote the Treasure Chest post, and resolved 399 Ancestry Hints.  Wrote this post.  Checked Facebook.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

Genea-Journal - 27-28 September 2019

I didn't journal Friday night because the Padres game went long.  And I had no real fantastic news to share.  Today was different.

1)  Friday, 27 September:

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read, picked her up and we went grocery shopping.  Home to add to the Best Of post, note that 52 Ancestors - Week 297: #508 Thomas Martin (1737-1767) of New Jersey posted, and wrote New Records Available To Search This Findmypast Friday, 27 September 2019 and then New Collection on Ancestry.com - Newspapers.com Obituary Index, 1800s to Current.  Took my nap.

*  Had lunch, worked on DNA matches for awhile adding two ThruLines to RootsMagic, then wrote   Genealogy News Bytes - 27 September 2019.  Checked Twitter and Facebook.  Wrote two of the Saturday posts.  Worked on the CVGS survey results.

*  Had dinner, watched TV news, then watched the Padres game.  They lost 6-3 to Dbacks on a late home run.  Crapola.  Added to the Best Of post and called it a night.  Genealogy this day was 8.0 hours.

2)  Saturday, 28 September:

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read, added to the Best Of post, wrote the FamilySearch post. picked her up and were home to gather my stuff for the SDGS RootsMagic Users Group.  Got to the FHC at 10 a.m. and had 10 in attendance.  Home by 12:30 to read, noted that Surname Saturday -- CLARKE (England to colonial Massachusetts) and Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Your Most Frustrating Brick Wall Problem posted.  

*  Took a recliner nap, worked on the CVGS survey results, then online to work on Ancestry Hints and added content and sources to the database.  Had dinner at 5, watched the Padres game (lost again, 6-5 on a grand slam in the 7th).  Crapola, darn relief pitching.  So now we are 70-91 and tied for 4th in the division.  It's almost over - how disappointing.

*  Online at 8:30 to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook, and write Family Tree Maker 2019 Released - FTM Celebrates 30th Birthday.  Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

Genea-Journal - 24-26 September 2019

I didn't journal the last two nights because the Padres played long.  3 more games!  It as cooler and cloudy today - fall is here.

1)  Tuesday, 24 September:

*  Dropped Linda, home, picked her up, grocery store, did genealogy, blogged, napped, ate, social media, more genealogy, ate at Tin Fish, and went to the Padres game - we lost to Dodgers 6-3.  Genealogy was 7.0 hours.

2)  Wednesday, 25 September:

*  Dropped Linda, genealogy, picked her up, genealogy, napped, ate, went to CVGS general meeting (boring).  Home for Ancestry call, genealogy, blogged, social media, ate, watched Padres game.  We lost 6-4.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

3)  Thursday, 26 September:

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read, added to the Best Of post, noted that Treasure Chest Thursday - 1830 U.S. Census Record for Mulford Martin Household in Woodbridge, New Jersey posted.

*  Picked her up, and home to write Findmypast Announces Launch of Tree-to-Tree Hints and work on 23andMe DNA tree.  Took my nap.  Ate lunch.

*  Online to find and write Seavers in the News -- Lillian Seaver Almost Drowns in 1896 and researched that line.  Went in to watch the end of the Padres game - we lost to Dodgers 1-0, so now 70-89 on the season.

*  Online at 3:30 to read, check Twitter and Facebook, and did some Family Tree matching.

*  Went in for dinner at 5:30 p.m. and watched TV, did the dishes and watered the front plants.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to work on the 52 Ancestors post, then resolved 220 Ancestry Hints and TreeShared 69 profiles.  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.5 hours.

This was a stay-at-home genealogy day with no Padres game, so I got quite a bit done.  About an average day today - high about 80F.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read, added to the Best Of post, and noted that Amanuensis Monday -- 1824 Quitclaim Deed Nathan Gates to Jabez Fairbank in Gardner, Massachusetts posted.

*  Picked her up, and home before 9 a.m. to get into Mondays With Myrt.  Had a few minutes to discuss my cousin bait email on the Haslam/Morley research.  The after party went until after 11 a.m.

*  Added to the Best Of post, answered email, and took my nap.

*  Up at 12:50 p.m. to eat lunch, then watched a webinar.  Wrote Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 22 September 2019.

*  Checked Twitter and Facebook, then wrote Cousin Bait Works - More for the Whittle/Morley/Haslam Research File.

*  Went in for dinner at 5:30, watched TV news, read the paper and washed dishes.  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, wrote the Treasure Chest post and resolved 168 Ancestry Hints, adding content and sources to the tree.

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.5 hours.

Genea-Journal - 20-22 September 2019

I missed journaling on Friday and Saturday nights due to the Padres games.  Same old stuff anyway.

On Sunday, read email and blogs, finished up the Best Of post, and started the Amanuensis post.

*  We left for church at 9:40 a.m., the Lincoln acted up.  Home by 11:20 a.m.  Finished up the amanuensis post. 

*  Went in at noon to watch football read the paper, and eat lunch.  Watched the Chargers game - they lost 27-20 to Houston, so now 1-2 on the season.  Then watched the end of the Padres game, we won 6-4 over Zonies in 10 innings.  So now 70-86 on the season, with 6 to go.

*  Helped make dinner - fried chicken - we ate and watched TV news, did the dishes, then did a little weed work in the front plants.  Online at 6:30 p.m. to note that Added and Updated Ancestry.com Record Collections - Week of 15 to 21 September 2019 and   Best of the Genea-Blogs - 15 to 21 September 2019 posted.

*  Resolved 228 Ancestry Hints, and TreeShared 85 profiles.  Went through the C and D place names to weed out the non-standard ones. 

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 4.5 hours.

Not an all-genealogy day, but a nice day anyway!  Cooler a bit.  

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read, added to the Best Of post, noted that Treasure Chest Thursday - 1830 U.S. Census Record for Peter Putman Household in Barrington, Yates County,New York posted.

Picked her up, and we went to Wal-Mart for awhile.  Home by 9:40.  Worked on the Seavers in the News post.

*  Left at 10:55 a.m. for the Rohr Engineers lunch - 14 there.  Had a good time.  Home by 1 p.m.

*  Finished up and posted Seavers in the News - Train Engineer Horace L. Seaver Saves Lives.  

*  Went in to watch the Padres game, read the paper, took a short nap, and Padres lost 5-1 to Brewers.  So now 69-94 on the season.

*  Online to check Twitter and Facebook, then went in for dinner and watched TV news and did the dishes.

*  Online at 6 p.m. to work on and write the 52 Ancestors post, then resolved 225 Ancestry Hints and TreeShared 57 profiles, so I'm up to date.

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

This was almost an all-genealogy day, except for the Padres game.

*  Dropped Linda, home to read,  added to the Best Of post, and noted that Christmas 1977 at the Seaver Home -- Post 583 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted.

*  Picked her up, home by 9:15 a.m., wrote RootsTech 2020 SLC Registration is Open and selected my DNA topics for the CVGS meeting.  Laid down to rest for 30 minutes.  Had lunch, added to the Best Of post.

*  Left at 11:15 a.m. for the library, got set up in the auditorium, and started the CVGS DNA Interest Group meeting at noon.  We had only 8 attendees.  Got two books afterward and home by 2:30 p.m.

*  Wrote Dear Randy: Do You Ignore Ancestry Hints?, checked Twitter and Facebook.

*  Went in at 4:45 to watch the Padres game, eat dinner, read the paper and my new book, put out the trash and washed dishes.  Padres beat Brewers 2-1, so now 69-83 on the season.

*  Online at 7:45 p.m. to write the Treasure Chest post, add to the Best Of post, and resolve 227 Ancestry Hints.  Added to the Best Of post.  Checked Facebook.  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, added to the Best Of post, and noted that Treasure Chest Tuesday -- 1800 U.S. Census Record for Nathan Gates Household in Gardner, Mass. posted.

*  Picked her up at 9 a.m. and we went to the grocery store, and home by 9:40.  Worked on AncestryDNA ThruLines matches for awhile, added a few lines to RootsMagic and added Notes to several matches.  Took a nap.

*  Had lunch, added to the Best Of post, and wrote Genealogy News Bytes - 17 September 2019.  Checked Twitter and Facebook.  Resolved about 200 Ancestry Hints.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch the Padres game, ate dinner, read the paper, read my book, watered the plants, and did dishes.  Padres lost to Brewers 3-1, so 68-83 and lost 6 straight.  

*  Online at 7:30 p.m. to answer email, write the Wordless Wednesday post, resolved another 80 Ancestry hints and TreeShared 83 profiles.

*  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

*  Took Linda to the Y, but the pool was closed, so came home.  Read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and noted that Amanuensis Monday -- 1819 Quitclaim Deed of Susanna, Nathan, Simon, and Daniel Gates to Reuben Gates in Gardner, Massachusetts posted.

*  Joined Mondays With Myrt early in the green room, but didn't get to talk about what I wanted to.  Offered opinions on several topics.  Took my nap.

*  Had lunch, then watched the ESM webinar, and wrote Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 15 September 2019.  Resolved 256 Ancestry Hints adding content and sources to RootsMagic.

*  Checked Twitter and Facebook, then added some images to my ancestors in my Ancestry tree.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to eat dinner, watch the Padres game, read the paper, read my book, and wash dishes.  Padres lost 5-1 to Brewers, so now 68-82 and lost 5 in a row.  12 to go - we will be lucky if we win 4 of them.

*  Online at 7:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, wrote the Treasure Chest post, then checked out several ThruLines.  Checked Facebook.  Wrote this post.

Ah, the Ides of September.  Beware... My Aztecs won last night, my Chargers lost today, my Padres lost three games in Colorado but scored 23 runs doing it (they gave up 31).

*  We went to early church today but managed to get email and blogs read.

*  Home by 9:45 a.m. but watched Charger game.  Lotsa missed chances, lost 13-10 with a last minute end zone interception.  Then watched the Padres game - they lost too, 10-5, so now 68-81 on the season.  Got some nap in the recliner and read the paper.

*  Finally online at 4 p.m. to read, wrote the Amanuensis post, and noted that Added and Updated Ancestry.com Record Collections - Week of 8 to 14 September 2019 and Best of the Genea-Blogs - 8 to 14 September 2019 posted.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV news and football, and washed dishes.

*  Online at 6 p.m. to read, then resolved 322 Ancestry Hints and TreeShared 66 profiles.  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 4.5 hours.

The Padres and Rockies are playing 3.5 hour games - 10-8 and 11-10 so far this weekend.  That kept me from journaling last night.

1)  Friday, 13 September:  Friday the 13th...

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read, noted that 52 Ancestors - Week 295: #506 John Kinnan (1732-1784) of New Jersey posted.  

*  Picked her up and we went to Costco.  Home to read, wrote New Records Available To Search This Findmypast Friday, 13 September 2019 and took a nap.

*  Had lunch, and wrote Genealogy News Bytes - 13 September 2019.  Checked Facebook and Twitter, and wrote two posts for Saturday. Printed off my handout for Saturday.

*  Went in at 5:30 to eat dinner, watch the Padres game, water the plants, read the paper and finished my Patterson book, and wash dishes.  Padres lost 10-8 to Rockies.  Genealogy this day was 7.5 hours.

2)  Saturday, 14 September:

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read, noted that Surname Saturday -- LNU (Elizabeth, married Thomas Foster, England to colonial Massachusetts) posted, and wrote the FamilySearch post.  

*  Picked her up and we went to the grocery store.  Home by 9:45 a.m.  Reviewed my DNA talk.  Took a nap.  Had lunch.

*  Left at 12 noon for Santee for my DNA talk at the library.  A hot ride with no AC working in the car.  It was 85F here and 95F there.  Got there by 12:40 and got set up.  There were 35 in attendance, they expected 25.  Ir went well.  Home by 3:15 p.m. but really warm.

*  Cooled off, noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Make a Timeline Report for an Ancestor posted, and wrote the Ancestry post.  Took another nap :)

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. to watch the Padres game, eat dinner, read the paper, read my Thor book, and Padres lost to Rockies 11-10.  So now 68-80 on the season.  

*  Online at 8:45 p.m. to read, noted that Added and Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 8 to 14 September 2019 posted, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 7 hours.

The Lost Week of Geneaholicism...

What, no blog here since last Thursday?  A week?  I've been home every day, where did my get up go?  Well, to the Padres games (two in person, 5 on TV), and then there's genealogy.  Ah yes, I did genealogy every day, have to feed the blog you know, and advance the genea-ball, and check out my DNA matches, and trying to break down a brick wall...my life in a nutshell.

*  Picked her up and home by 9:15.  Wrote Seavers in the News - Mary J. (Seaver) Bailey Dies in 1899.  Took a nice nap.

*  Had lunch, worked on 52 Ancestors post, then watched Padres game, and read the paper.  Pads lost 4-1 to Cubs, so now 67-78 (I think). 

*  Worked on 52 Ancestors post, had dinner, worked on rose bushes in front, then wrote 52 Ancestors post.  TreeShared 179 profiles.  

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

Genea-Journal - Wednesday and Thursday, 4-5 September 2019

Happy birthday on Wednesday to my brother Stan, who doesn't read my blogs.  It's been warm and humid these two days, around 85-90F here in the afternoons.  

1)  Wednesday, 4 September:

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read, added to the best Of post, and noted that A 1976 Four Generation Family Photo -- Post 581 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted.

*  Picked her up, went to the 99 Cent Store, and home by 10 a.m. to read, took a nap, and printed off CVGS material.  

*  Left at 11:30 for the library and the CVGS Board meeting.  Home by 2:30 p.m.  A thunderstorm was overhead and we got some rain, but not many loud booms.  It moved off quickly.

*  Wrote Using the MyHeritage Consistency Checker - My Tree is Imperfect!  Checked all of the issues against my RootsMagic tree and modified a bunch of profiles.  Wrote MyHeritage Live 2019 Conference LiveStreaming - FREE!!

*  Checked Twitter and Facebook, and did more consistency issues.

*  Went in at 5:30 to eat dinner, and watch TV, and online at 6 p.m. to write the Treasure Chest post.  Put out the trash.

*  Went in at 6:45 p.m. to watch the Padres game, got beat again by Snakes 4-1, so now 64-75.

*  Online at 9:50 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, but didn't journal.  Genealogy this day was 8.0 hours.

2)  Thursday, 5 September:

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read, added to the Best Of post, and noted that Treasure Chest Thursday - 1810 U.S. Census Record for Peter Putman Household in Ulysses, New York posted.

*  Picked her up, and we went to the grocery store.  Home by 9:40 a.m. to find an obituary, and wrote Seavers in the News- Noted Violin Maker George F. Seaver Dies in 1902.  Took a nap.

*  Had lunch, then wrote MyHeritage Live 2019 Live Streaming Schedule.  Worked on the CVGS Newsletter - got 4 pages done. 

*  Checked Twitter and Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and worked in RootsMagic WebHints a bit.  

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV, and read the paper.  No Padres game tonight!  

*  Online at 6 p.m. to read, then wrote the 52 Ancestors post, resolved 197 Ancestry Hints, and TreeShared 85 profiles.  

*  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

Another day in the genealogy cave, but I did go outside once or twice.  It's been mid-80s here in the afternoon.  The fans keep us cool.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read, added to the Best Of post and noted that Treasure Chest Tuesday -- 1796 Death Record of Sarah (Allen) Knowlton in Concord, Mass. posted.

*  Picvked her up, and home by 9:15 a.m.  Worked on AncestryDNA matches a bit - got a new one and figured out the relationship.  Wrote A First Look at RootsMagic 8 - Big Changes Ahead.

*  Took a nice nap.  Had lunch.  Added to the Best Of post.  Wrote Genealogy News Bytes - 3 September 2019.  Answered email.  Worked in the SSA&C collection adding content and sources to RootsMagic file.  Checked Twitter and Facebook.  

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to eat dinner, and watch TV news.  Watered the front plants.

*  Online at 6 p.m. to write the Wordless Wedmesday post, then resolved 170 Ancestry Hints.

*  Went in at 6:40 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, finish my Patterson book, and stated a Kellerman book.  Did the dishes.  Padres lost 2-1 to Snakes, so now 64-74 on the season. 

*  Online at 9:50 to read, add to the Best Of post, TreeShared 47 profiles, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

An all-genealogy day for me except for meals, the nap, and 2 innings of the Padres game.

*  Read email and blogs, dropped Linda at 8 a.m. at the Y, home to read, add to the Best Of post, and noted that Amanuensis Monday -- 1818 Deed of Nathan Gates to John Miles in Gardner, Massachusetts posted.  Had a problem with GenealogyBank which resolved itself somehow an hour later. 

*  Picked her up, and we went to the store, home at 10 a.m.  Wrote Ancestry.com Search Quirk - They Use Maiden Name in a Massachusetts Death Record Summary and took my nap.

*  Had lunch, then worked in WebHints and GenealogyBank looking for missing Seaver folks.  Added some to the database.

*  Wrote Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 1 September 2019 and then checked Twitter and Facebook.

*  Went in at 4 p.m. to watch the last two innings of the Padres game, they lost 14-7 to the Snakes.  We had dinner, watched TV news, read the paper.  

*  Online at 5:45 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, write the Treasure Chest post, resolved 200 Ancestry Hints, and TreeShared 57 profiles back to Ancestry.  I'm thinking I may be able to keep up better if I TreeShare every night.  I received 1200 new Hints on Sunday after I TreeShared 352 profiles. 

*  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

I still blame the Padres for not journaling.  And laziness.  Oh well, i'm not being paid for this.

*  Dropped Linda, home to read, picked her up, and had a CVGS Bylaws meeting at the library.  Home by 12 noon, wrote blogs, had a nap, and worked in the database.  Had dinner, wrote Saturday posts, and watched Padres lose to Giants 8-3.  Genealogy this day was 7.0 hours.

*  Read email and blogs, left at 7:50 a.m. for the SDGS seminar with Daniel Horowitz.  Pretty good.  Home by 2:15 p.m. to nap, then wrote a blog post and worked in RootsMagic and resolved Ancestry Hints.  Had dinner, and watched Padres game - we beat Giants 4-1.  Genealogy this day was 7.0 hours.

3)  Sunday, 1 September:

*  Read email and blogs, added to the Best of post,  and wrote the Amanuensis Monday post.  Left for church at 9:30 and home by 11:30 a.m.

*  Worked in RootsMagic, TreeShared 100 profiles, then noted that Added and Updated Ancestry.com Record Collections - Week of 25 to 31 August 2019 and Best of the Genea-Blogs - 25 to 31 August 2019 posted.  Worked on Ancestry Hints.  

*  Went in at 1 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and had a nap.  Padres won 8-4 over Giants, so now 64-72 on the season. 

*  Had dinner, watched TV news, and talked to Lori.  Resolved more Ancestry Hints, then TreeShared 252 profiles.  Whew!

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 5.5 hours.
