My Geneaholic Thursday - 30 October 2014

Hallowe'en is tomorrow...this was a quiet and peaceful and genealogy day at home!

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 238: Henry Austin Carringer's 1888 Great Register of Voters Entry and then printed off the OASIS syllabus material for next Monday.

*  Researched and wrote Demonstrating Adding Ancestry.com Hints in a Specific Database to my RootsMagic Database.

*  Worked in Pennsylvania Death Certificates on Ancestry and finished the Seaver folks.  Added some persons and more content and sources.

*  Wrote three blog posts for the CV Genealogy Cafe blog.  Answered some email.  Checked Facebook.

*  Worked on Elizabeth King Spangler's data, adding notes and media and sources, getting it ready for the 52 Ancestors bio.  Wondered about a burial location, and think it may be in Conneautville.  Found a possible in Find A Grave but the death year is wrong...but the death date is correct!  Requested a photograph.  Created a profile for Daniel Spangler also in Sheakleyville Cemetery, and requested a photo.  Wrote When and Where Did Elizabeth (King) Spangler (1796-1863) Die or Be Buried?

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. to watch TV news, eat dinner, water the front yard, and wash the dishes.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and wrote the 52 Ancestors post.  Downloaded the handouts and some presentations from the NARA Virtual Conference 2014.  Wrote the Halloween post.

*  Worked in the database on the Ho names, got down into Hopkins.

*  Had the random thought to see if James H Dill was on FamlySearch and he was...along with the other children of Thomas and Hannah Dill, including Elizabath.  Checked the film number, found it on the FamilySearch Town Records database, and searched for them and can't find them.  Very frustrating!  Worked for an hour going page by page, then found an index and Thomas wasn't there.  Will have to look some more!

*  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 12.5 hours!

My Geneaholic Wednesday - 29 October 2014

This was a busy day, mainly due to the CVGS program today.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Hallowe'en Costumes in 1960 -- Post 331 for (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and Dear Randy: Do You Research All Family Tree Connections? and set it for later.  Practiced the RM HOA trick with Russ.

*  Went in to watch the end of the Series - Giants won 3-2 over Royals.  Baseball is done, now I can do more research and writing in the evenings.

*  Online at 8:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook, add content from Ancestry to the database (got down to Hooper), and wrote this post. Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

*  Went in to watch the World Series, eat dinner, read the paper, water the front yard, wash dishes, and finish my book.  I switched over to Finding Your Roots in the 8th inning when it was 10-0.  so Wednesday will be the finish.

*  Finding Your Roots was interesting - mostly for the records shown.  The "guests" were not very voluble tonight.

*  Online at 9:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook, write the Wordless Wednesday post, and write this post.  genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Day - 22 October 2013

This was not much of a writing or research day, but I did do some genealogy work.

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Aunt Marion and Aunt Gerry Visit in 1978 -- Post 330 for (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and researched and wrote Searching for Persons and Cemeteries on BillionGraves and set it for later.

*  Checked the San Diego Central Library catalog for archival items - found some.  Left at 11 a.m. for lunch at McDonalds and then to the parking garage for the carpool to the San Diego Central Library.

*  We got there at 12 noon, staked out a table, and I had Kate the librarian bring out the Great Registers for San Diego and found Henry A. Carringer in 1888.  Looked in 1908 also, but it was only for other cities in the county, not San Diego City.  She said they didn't have them.  Drat.  So she brought out several more items, including an 1897 booklet about the merits of San Diego, and 1910, 1920 and 1930 newspaper clippings with Marston Company advertisements.  I also perused some of the SDGS booklets of transcriptions of vital records.  Also met rick Crawford and explained my San Diego family connection.

*  We left at 3 p.m. and I was home by 3:45 p.m. Read, then dozed off for 10 minutes, and we left at 4:40 p.m. for LaMaze and my birthday dinner.  I had prime rib, baked potato and veggies.  Came home to watch World Series Game 2, which the Royals won 7-2.

My Geneaholic Tuesday - 21 October 2014

This was an interesting and full day - stayed home, did some research, and added some content to the database.

*  Read email and blogs, then researched and wrote Technology Tuesday - Billion Graves Mobile App.  Wrote Three Interesting MyHeritage Announcements and set it for later in the morning.

*  Looked for the 1902 Alexander Sovereen article online but didn't find it.  Should be in my notebook!  Didn't find it on Google, or in Ancestry trees either.  Wrote New or Updated Collections at FamilySearch - 12-18 October 2014.

*  Worked in the 1940 Census matches on Ancestry - cleared another 53, down to 69 left to do (at least until Ancestry gives me more matches).  Added a bunch of sources and some content.

*  Looked for Carringer obituaries on GenealogyBank, but I've found all there are for the northern branch.  Then checked for Seaver obituaries, and found some I hadn't seen before.  Added them, with sources, to the database.  Sources at 55,728.

My Geneaholic Monday - 20 October 2014

I didn't journal on Saturday or Sunday, mainly because I did little of interest in genealogy.

1)  Saturday, 18 October:

*  Quickly read email and blogs, then off to the Men's breakfast at Marie Callenders.  Home at 9:30 to note that Surname Saturday - LNU (England to colonial Massachusetts) posted.

*  We left at 11:45 a.m. for Carlsbad to meet Tami and the girls at 12:30 for lunch.  Got my Charlie fix, and the girls too...we went to the mall after lunch, Tami shopped, and I used Charlie as a chick magnet.  We left at 3:45 p.m., home by 4:30.

*  Took a nap, ate dinner, watched football, online at 7 p.m. and noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - What Is Your All-Time Favorite Song? posted.

*  Watched the Aztecs game - they won 20-10 over Hawaii.  Read and quit for the night.  Genealgoy this day was about 3.0 hours.

2)  Sunday, 19 October:

*  Read email and blogs, finished up the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 12 to 18 October 2014 post.  Then off to church.

*  Homer by 11:15 a.m. to read, then watched football on TV.  Charger game was at 1 p.m.  Chiefs waxed us 23-20, but it wasn't that close.

*  Went out and cut the front lawn to reduce my frustration.  Watered the front yard.  Came in to eat dinner, watch TV news, and online at 7 p.m. to read, check Facebook, and clear 54 of the 1940 US Census matches.  Added a bunch of source citations.

*  Started the new Best Of post, answered some email.  Genealogy this day was 4.5 hours.

3)  Monday, 20 October 2014:

*  Finally, a clear genealogy day, and DearMYRTLE cancels the Mondays With Myrt.  Drat.  Oh well.  Read email and blogs, then wrote Amanuensis Monday - Post 240: 1872 Deed of Land in Taylor County, Iowa from Devier J. and Abbie A. Smith to Alexander John.

*  Research in Billion Graves and wrote Billion Graves Cemetery Maps and Gravesite Transcriptions and set it for later.

*  Updated Legacy Family Tree.  Fixed the lost Auble surname file - where and when did that go away?   Retrieved it from Copy.com.  Figured out I needed iTunes open to sync the iCloud.  Duh - worked fine then!  Spent 30 minutes getting a hotel room at the Hilton in SLC, Drat.  Wanted the Radisson.

*  Found the Kemp papers, and photoed them, then wrote My Top Genea-Discoveries -- Kemp Family Records and set it for later.

*  Got back into the 1940 U.S. Census and cleared 47 more, adding sources and some content when necessary.  Need to get the Seaver folks in there...

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. to watch TV, read the paper, dozed a bit, and had dinner.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook, and then worked in the Hi surnames - got down to Hilton adding sources and content.  Sources now 55,644 (up 158 from Friday).  Genealogy today was 11.5 hours.

Friday, October 17, 2014

My Geneaholic Friday - 17 October 2014

I'm getting forgetful I fear...see below!

*  Read email and blogs, noted that 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 42: Sarah (Feather) Carringer (1804-1848) posted.

*  Watched Russ's video, and wrote More on Finding Record Hints for a Specific Database on Ancestry.com and set it for later.

*  Was working away at 12:20 p.m. when my iPhone gave me a Calendar alert - I needed to be in San Carlos (almost 20 miles away) in 10 minutes.  I totally forgot about my Genealogy-Be An Ancestor Detective talk at the library from 1 to 2:30.  Printed off 30 handouts in a hurry, but took 20 minutes due to color.  Got talk on flash drive, but left it in my shorts pocket when I changed pants.  Grabbed some lunch bites and the laptop and off for a mad dash to San Carlos.  Got there at 1:05 and walked into a room full of people wondering where the instructor was.  Library staff got the projector going, got me hooked up, gave me a pointer/flipper, and I was off and running at 1:15 p.m.  Went to 2:30.  Had an interested audience of 30 - filled the room!  Embarrassed because I forgot.

*  Home by 3, but worked in front yard with Linda on roses.  Came in at 3:30 p.m. to read, answer email, then add to the Best Of post, and check Facebook,  Wrote Theme for FGS 2015 Conference is Connect. Explore. Refresh.

*  Went in to eat dinner, watch TV news, and read the paper.  Went for a walk - almost a mile.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, then wrote the Surname Saturday post and the SNGF post, and then worked in 1940 US Census records.  Added data for about 60 people.  Worked it down from 254 to 193.

*  Worked on random folks in the database adding content and sources.  Sources are 55,486.  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 11.0 hours.

Thursday, October 16, 2014

My Geneaholic Thursday - 16 October 2014

We're halfway through October...and i'm a week shy of 71 now.  The weather has cooled off a bit, highs in the upper 70s this week.  This was another all-genealogy stay-home day.

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 236: Norman Sever's Military Service Summary.  Answered email.

*  Worked a bit in billion Graves, testing the Plus features.  Went down a research rabbit hole from one of the Seaver entries, and added 4 generations of a new Seaver bush.  Earliest is a Massachusetts guy, but cannot attach him to another family yet.

*  Researched and wrote More About Mocavo.com Census Images and Census Viewer - UPDATED.

*  Watched one of Russ's videos, and uploaded a GEDCOM to FamilyTreeDNA.  Did 12 generations of ancestors, but it shows only 5.

*  Tried to force Ancestry to add Hints for many branches of my Ancestry Member Tree.  Went methodically through it to highlight 2nd great-grandparents, wait for the Hints to appear in Family view, and then move on.  That added thousands more Hints to the Records list.  For my AMT, I have 42,920 people and 20,617 Record Hints.  I know there are more, but Ancestry seems to dole them out a bit every day.  Sources up to 55,393.

*  Worked in the 1930 census, adding content and sources for the V and S and some C names.

*  At 5:15 p.m., went in for dinner, read the paper, and watch the baseball game.  Giants eventually won 6-3 on a walkoff homer in the 9th.  So the Series is set KC vs. SF.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to do more sources in the 1930 census, then worked on the 52 Ancestors post.

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked in on Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 11.0 hours.

Wednesday, October 15, 2014

My Geneaholic Wednesday - 15 October 2014

This was my father's 103rd birthday - but he died 31 years ago.  I am thankful for his great New England ancestry!

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Bowers and Ruth (Seaver) Fischer -- Post 329 for (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and CGSSD Mini-Fair on Saturday, 18 October and set it for late morning, and Finding Record Hints for Persons in a Specific Database on Ancestry.com and set it form id-afternoon.  blogging done!

*  Left at 11 a.m. for lunch at McDonalds, then to the library to stop in with John's group and then the Computer Group, which Gary led.  Was able to help two people with research.

*  Home by 2 p.m. to read, then watched the baseball game and took a short nap.

*  Online at 3:30 p.m. to add 1940 census source citations to the database using the Hints in the specific database method.

*  Went in at 4:45 p.m. to read the paper, watch the Giants game, and eat dinner.  Put out the trash and washed dishes too.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, answer email, then worked more in the 1940 US Census adding content and sources.  Sources up to 55,279.  Added almost 200 today, I think.  Found that not all persons in my big tree have Hints yet - I knew that, so the 1940 census is not finished yet.  Still have lots of Seavers, Carringers, Aubles and Vauxes to go!

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.5 hours.

Tuesday, October 14, 2014

My Geneaholic Tuesday - 14 October 2014

This was another stay-at-home genealogy day and I got some things done, but messed around too much.

*  Read email and blogs, then researched and wrote Technology Tuesday - FamilySearch Family Tree Mobile App and answered email.  Had to reboot when the computer got slow.  In the mean time, culled about half of the non-genealogy paper pile.

*  Watched several YouTube videos by Russ, Crista, Pat and Tessa.  Checked Facebook.  Wrote One Family Tree File or Many Tree Files?

*  Went in at 2 p.m. to watch the baseball game, took a nap, read the paper.  Back online at 3:45 p.m. to read and then research and wrote Requesting a Microfilm Image From the FHL.  Worked in Ancestry Hints for awhile.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV, and eat dinner.  Watered the front yard and washed dishes too.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and worked in Ancestry Hints some more.  Eventually added about 20 1940 census records to the database with source citations for all family members.  About 60 more to do.  Blog fodder for Wednesday!

*  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 11.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Monday - 13 October 2014

I got a time bonus today - no baseball game!  Stayed home, and did genealogy.  Caught up a bit, and researched a lot tonight.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Amanuensis Monday - Post 239: 1871 Deed of Land in Taylor County, Iowa from A.A and Rebecca Hancock to Devier J. Smith posted.

*  Joined the Mondays With Myrt HOA in the green room, and we had a good 100 minute discussion, plus 10 more in the green room.

*  Read, answered email, and wrote My Top Genea-Discoveries: Isaac Buck's (1757-1846) Birth Father.  Did more searching for Isaac Buck in Mass Town and Vital Records and had no success.

*  Made a Family Group Sheet of Carringer/Smith for Descendants of Early San Diego and submitted it with notes and sources.

*  Wrote 6 CVGC posts - 3 published, 3 in waiting, through 10/29.  Forgot Gmail password, had to get the key.  Drat.

*  Wrote New or Updated Collections at Family Search - October 5 to 11, 2014.  Read, ordered a gift for Linda's birthday, and then worked in FamilySearch Family Tree for some of Linda's Norwegians.

*  Went in for dinner at 5:45 p.m. to find the baseball game rained out, so we watcvhed the football game, ate dinner, read the paper, and washed dishes.

*  Online at 7:50 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and then work in the database adding content and sources using FSFT and Ancestry.  Added folks in the Brigham line that may be mine, then got through the Higgins surnames.  Sources up to 55,078.

*  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 11.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Saturday - 11 October 2014

This was a pretty good genealogy Saturday, once I got going.

*  Read email and blogs, and tried to get my presentation to come up on the laptop in LibreOffice.  It wouldn't do it no matter how hard I tried.  So I downloaded the later version of OpenOffice and that worked well, and quickly.

*  Packed up the handouts and reference book and laptop and went off to the SDGS meeting.  Got there at 9:25 a.m. and was quickly set up, ready to go.  I did the Probate Records talk at 10:15 a.m., for 60 minutes about on the dot (I was worried about the timing), and after the break, did the Genealogy Is Fun! talk in about 45 minutes.  They laughed.  The audience of 75 seemed to enjoy both of them - had lots of positive comments about the Probate one.  What amazed me was that when I asked "Who has been to a courthouse to search for probate Records?" I got about 5 hands.

*  Home by 1 p.m., washed the car on the lawn, and watched baseball, took a nap, read the paper, etc.  Was online at 2:30 p.m. to read, answer email, add to the Best Of post, and then did some research on Natvig family in Wisconsin.  Added some persons and sources from records on Ancestry and FamilySearch. Noted that Surname Saturday - MERRIAM (England to colonial Massachusetts)  and Saturday Night Genealogy Fun (SNGF) - What Date Was Your Grandfather Born? posted.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch the Giants game, we ate dinner, and I read my book, and did the dishes.  Finally online at 7:30 p.m. to read, work some more on Natvig, and then added some of those families to the FamilySearch Family Tree.

*  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Friday - 10 October 2014

This was a stay-at-home day also.  I'm not sure i'm ready for the talks on Saturday.  Now I have a scratchy throat.

*  Read email and blogs, then noted that 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 41: #48 Henry Carringer (1800-1879) posted.  Wrote New Family History Series on CNN - "Roots, Our Journeys Home" and set it for later.  Gort the news that Audrey doesn't need surgery - good!  She called to tell me.

*  Looked in Google Books for Henry Carringer and found an article about John and Eliza (Carringer) Robinson.  Added content and sources to that family, and tried to extend the family a bit since they are cousins.  Finally wrote "Forrest Gump Principle of Genealogical Research" Strikes Again...

*  Wrote the Surname Saturday and SNGF posts, and was about to go in for dinner when the Mocavo census news came down - so I wrote Major News - Mocavo.com Offers U.S. Census Images.

*  Went in for dinner, to watch the baseball game, water the front yard, read the paper, and wash the dishes while Linda did her email.  Printed off the Bingo pages.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, then participate in the GenChat on Twitter using something that Jen mentioned that I can't recall now.  Drat.  GenChat was about town records.  Afterwards, I went on facebook and deleted most of my comments that were meaningless to a Facebook reader.

*  Went in to watch some of the ball game, ended in the 10th with Royals winning 8-6.

*  Online at 9:15 p.m. to read, add some folks and sources to James line, and then wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.5 hours.

My Geneaholic Thursday - 9 October 2014

It was a stay at home Thursday, and I got al ot done with no baseball games on TV.  Cooler too, hit about 80F today.

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 235: 1755 Marriage Record of Norman Sever and Sarah Read.

*  Practiced the Probate presentation - came in right at 60 minutes.  Probably 10 minutes too long, but I did some edits during the practice.  Will talk faster...that always works, but isn't ideal.  I need to find my benchmarks so I can tell where I am during the talk.

*  Worked on Finding NYGBR Images Using PERSI on FindMyPast.com before and after lunch, but didn't post it until after the Mocavo Hangout.

*  Watched the videos for Preserve the Pensions and wrote Watch Videos Highlighting the Preserve the Pensions (War of 1812) Digitizing Effort.

*  Worked on the 52 Ancestors post and set it for Friday morning.  Checked Facebook and Google+ and Twitter.  Answered some email.  Add to the Best Of post.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to eat dinner and watch TV, read the paper, then washed the dishes.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, add some slides to the Fun talk, and then worked in the database adding content and sources.  Got through the Her surnames.

*  Checked Facebook for Audrey news (she is adapting...), read email and blogs, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 12.5 hours.  Whew!  Longest day in awhile.

My Geneaholic Wednesday - 8 October 2014

This was a pretty good genealogy day, and then it ended badly with Audrey's broken arm.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Edward Richmond Seaver -- Post 328 for (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and then SDGS Program on Saturday, 11 October Features ... Randy Seaver. Surprise!! and set it for later.  Downloaded some FTWebinar syllabus material.

*  Packed up the laptop and left at 11 a.m. for McDonalds for lunch, then o the bank and thel ibrary to sit in on John's class, then got set up for the CVGS Research Group in the Conference Room.  Started at 12:10 p.m., with 14 in attendance.  did my hour, then spent the second hour on attendee problems, questions, and successes.

*  Home by 2:45 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, answer email, and then wrote Source Citation for a California County Death Certificate.  Checked Facebook, and added several more sources to the database.

*  Went in for dinner at 5:15 p.m., watched TV news, and back online at 6 to watch the Wacky Wednesday on PERSI.  It's pretty cumbersome...

*  Got news that Audrey broke her arm playing soccer, so Linda got on the computer and I watched news for awhile.  Online to post on Facebook, then worked in the database adding families for the Lowell line.  Found he has an Ayres line, but it's not the same as mine.

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Tuesday - 7 October 2014

This post 2001 on The Geneaholic - I've been genea-journaling for over six years now.  It was cooler today, a high only in the mid-80s, and much more bearable in the genea-cave, although the fan is still running right by my side.

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote Technology Tuesday - MyHeritage App - Family Photos and then We're Going Cruising on 29 November to 6 December Out Of Los Angeles and set it for later.

*  Sent the syllabus material off to Paul.  Answered some email.  Checked Facebook.  Added to the Best Of post.  Checked my AncestryDNA page.  Edited some of the Genea-Musings pages to update presentations.

*  Answered more email, and did some research for Bente and Charlotte and Shawn.

*  Did some more research on Joseph T. Seaver.  Made some reports for JTS and sent them to Shawn.  Wrote Attacking a Seaver Relationship Problem - Parents of Joseph T. Seaver (1805-????).

*  Went in to watch the Dodgers game at 4:45, we ate dinner and watched TV news.

*  Online at 6:15 p.m. to read, then worked in the database for awhile randomly...adding content and sources using Ancestry, FamilySearch and Find A Grave.  Source up to 54,846.

*  Went in at 8 p.m. to watch Finding Your Roots, then washed the dishes and watched the end of the Giants game.

*  Online at 9:30 p.m. to read, write this post, check Facebook.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Monday - 6 October 2014

Finally, an all-day genealogy day.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Amanuensis Monday - Post 238: 1871 Deed of Land in Taylor County, Iowa from Devier and Abbie Smith to A.H. Owens posted.

*  Joined the Mondays With Myrt HOA but didn't get a chance to give much information.  Worked in Ancestry a bit chasing down info for Bente.  Failed.

*  Researched and wrote More Ways to Search on Ancestry.com - Using AMT Persons.

*  Printed off the CVGS Newsletter and mail labels, and went to the UPS Store to publish it.  Rewarded myself at McDonalds with an ice cream cone.  Heck, nobody else will!

*  Home at 2:30 p.m. to read, then wrote New or Updated Collections at Family Search - September 28 to October 4, 2014.

*  Watched several HOAs with DearMYRTLE and Cousin Russ trying to catch up.  Found some obits on GenBank and transcribed them and added source citations.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV news, eat dinner, water the front yard, read the paper, and do the dishes.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and practice the Probate talk and edit the talk and the handout again.  Good thing I checked, handout got messed up somehow.  Took awhile to fix it.  I hate when that happens.

*  Went looking for Find A Grave entries for the Schaffner and McKnew lines - added about 50 sources.

*  Checked Facebook, wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 11.0 hours.

My Non-Geneaholic Sunday - 5 October 2014

This was a very good football day...my Chargers beat the Jets 31-0 and it wasn't that close.  A very nice afternoon!

*  Read email and blogs, and finished up the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 28 September to 4 October 2014 post.

*  We went off to church at 9:20 a.m., drove Connie to the trolley afterwards, and home by 11:45 a.m. to watch football on TV.  Had lunch, read the paper, and settled in with popcorn to watch the Chargers at 1:25 p.m.

*  Game over at 4:30 p.m., and checked email and blogs quickly before dinner and more baseball and football on TV.

*  Finally came in at 6:30 p.m. to read, and work on the CVGS newsletter.  Added the missing pieces, one good edit, save and double check the PDF, and there it goes through the magic of email to 90 society members.

*  Wrote the Amanuensis Monday post, and checked Facebook, answered some email, and added to the next Best Of post.  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 4.0 hours.

My Non-Geneaholic Saturday - 4 October 2014

I made very little progress today, it was really a non-geneaholic day.

*  Read emails and blogs in a hurry, then off before 8 a.m. for Marie Callenders and breakfast with the church men's group.  I want bacon and eggs more often!

*  Got to Bonita library at 9:45 a.m. for the CVGS seminar.  Participated in the two morning sessions - pretty useless and non-productive though.  Came home by 12:30 p.m. to eat lunch, and check email and blogs and note that Surname Saturday - WHEELER (England to colonial Massachusetts) and then Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Genealogy Good Luck posted.

*  Answered email, and added content to the FamilySearch Family Tree trying to sort out the Joseph T. Seaver parents mystery.  The families on FSFT were all messed up - I think I fixed them but it took almost two hours.

*  Went in at 4 p.m. because Linda got dinner up an hour early...and watched the Giants-Nats game until 8 p.m.  It wasn't over until almost 9 pm. - Giants won 2-1 in 18 innings.

*  Online at 8 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and answer email.  Work in Ancestry a bit in the database with random folks.  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

*  Wrote My Top Genea-Discoveries - Devier J. Smith Was Adopted and then went in for dinner at 5:15 p.m. and to watch baseball.  Giants won, Dodgers lost.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to write the Surname Saturday post, then in at 7:30 to watch the Aztecs game.  Came in at halftime to write the SNGF post.  Aztecs lost to Fresno State 24-13, we had to use a freshman QB.

*  Online at 10:30 p.m. to read, then write this post.  Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

My Geneaholic Thursday - 2 October 2014

Nine days until the SDGS presentation - I moved a step closer today.

*  Worked on the handout for the Probate talk, and corrected typos and added a few more lines to the presentation in the process.

*  Answered email, added to the Best Of post, and read the novel a bit more.  Up to page 22.  Researched and wrote My Relationships to United States Presidents - Post 1: 39 to 44.  Did a little research on Dawn too, then checked Facebook.

*  Went in at 4:50 p.m. to watch the playoff game, eat dinner, read the paper, and water the front yard.

My Geneaholic Wednesday - 1 October 2014

The first day of my birthday month, i'm almost 71 years old.  I still dream like i'm 21 and in college.  Unless it's about my daughters, then I'm like 41 and worried about them.

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote  The Young Fred Seaver All Dressed Up -- Post 327 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and then FamilySearch Enhances Their Country/State/Province Search Pages and set it for later.

*  Went off at 11 a.m. to McDonalds for lunch, then to the library to see John's group, and then the CVGS Board meeting.  Only two hours, mercifully.
