My Non-Geneaholic Thursday - 31 July 2014

July is done, bring on August!  We've been warm here in Chula Vista the past week or so - temps over 85 F almost every day with humidity.  Fans are running, windows pen at night, shirts are off...trying to stay cool.

*  Read email and blogs - wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 225: 1901 Census of Canada for Alexander Sovereen Household and then Comments on "How Should Genealogical Societies Nurture Beginners?" and set it for later.

*  We left at 11 a.m. for the Padres game, ate lunch quickly at Project Pie in CV Center, then to the E Street trolley station - dropped Linda off and had to park across the street.  We got there at 12:45 p.m. and missed the top of the first inning.  Pads lost 6-2 to the Cards, so now 48-60 on the year.  Traded Denorfia today.  

*  Took trolley back to E Street, went to In n Out for a quick dinner, and home by 5:30 p.m.

*  Online, read email and blogs, researched and wrote Finding Seaver Folks in a Specific Place In My Database.

*  Worked on the 52 Ancestors guy - expanded the Notes section to incorporate recent findings and thoughts.  

*  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

My Geneaholic Wednesday - 30 July 2014

This would have been my mother's 95th birthday, if she had lived.  I still miss her.

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote Our Christmas 1977 Family Picture -- Post 318 for (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and then WikiChicks Genealogy News Network Launches.

*  Packed up and left at 11 a.m. for McDonalds for lunch, then the library to return books, check in with John's group, and go to the CVGS meeting.  The speaker didn't have a presentation, she talked while Gary tried to put maps on the screen.  There was no broad overview of the topic, only what she knew about the local resources, and not many of them were named.  It was very confusing and poorly done, I thought.  Too many personal opinions about certain groups also.  A waste of my time...IMHO.

*  Home by 2:45 p.m. to read, then wrote Do Search Engines Provide What You Request?   Made a Flipboard magazine (finally have the process down!) and posted Should "Best of the Genea-Blogs" Be a Weekly Flipboard Magazine?

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. to watch TV news, eat dinner, then took the trash out.  Online at 6:30 to read Facebook, mail and blogs, but that was about all.

*  Went in at 7:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and then read my book.  With the score 4-1 in the 6th, switched over to WDYTYA? and enjoyed it.  Padres were up 12-1 after 7 innings when I came in to do this post.  Also added to the Best Of post.

*  Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

My Geneaholic Tuesday - 29 July 2014

Two more days left in July, and I finally got around to updating my one August presentation.  Worked all day, until the Padres game in the evening.

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote Tuesday's Tips - Use Facebook to Find, Join and Contribute to Genealogy Interest Groups and then wrote Finding the Taylor County, Iowa Properties of Devier J. Smith and set it for late morning.

*  Updated my Source Citation talk and handout - still need some graphics, and need to update some things.  

*  Figured out again how to use the Padres website and printed off our August tickets.  Answered email, added to the Best Of post, and searched for a Taylor county plat map.  Found one, but it was 1894, but one of the grantees still owned part of Devier's section.  also saw the layout of the 40 some lots that he sold piecemeal!  

*  Did some FamilySearch Indexing (two batches), and wrote 3-2-1 Cite! Challenge for July - FamilySearch Indexing.  Checked Facebook.  Added about 8 record images and source citations to the RootsMagic database.

* Went in for dinner at 5:15 p.m., watched TV news, then went out and pulled long grass up.  Still looks crappy.  Watered the front yard too.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, then saved some more images from Ancestry Hints.  

*  Went in at 7:15 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and then my book.  Padres pulled it out 3-1 over the Cards.

*  Online at 10:30 p.m. to read, write this post.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

1)  Sunday, 27 July 2014

*  Read email and blogs, finished up the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 20 to 26 July 2014 post.

*  We went off to church at 9:30 a.m., went to lunch at the new pizza place, and home by 1 p.m.

*  Read, didn't do much else before going in to watch the Padres game, read the paper, then my book, eat dinner, and wash the dishes.  Pads lost to Atlanta 8-3.

*  Online at 6 p.m. to read, then sorted the deed table into date order, and then transcribed the Amanuensis Monday post.

*  Added some sources for Seaver census records, then worked a bit in the FamilySearch Family Tree.

*  I didn't journal.  Added to the Best Of post.  Genealogy this day was 6.0 hours.

2)  Monday, 28 July 2014

*  Read email and blogs, and noted that Amanuensis Monday - Post 228: 1868 Deed of Land in Taylor County, Iowa from Devier J. Smith to Ranslow Smith posted.  

*  Joined the Mondays With Myrt panel - see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWZP9jFvo3w.  Talked a bit about genealogy societies, the deed table, and Relatice Finder.

*  Wrote several blog posts on the CVGS blog, and copied CVGS Program on Wednesday, July 30th - Donna Bradley on Native-American Genealogy to Genea-Musings.  Wrote Creating a "Problem List" in RootsMagic 6 and set it for later.

*  Worked on the RootsMagic problems for at least two hours.  Checked Facebook.  Wrote Family Tree Magazine Highlights Best 101 Genealogy Websites for 2014 but forgot to post it until later.

*  Went in at 4:45 p.m. to watch TV news, read the paper, eat dinner and wash dishes.  

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and then worked on adding more census source citations for Seaver people.  Worked a bit in FamilySearch Family Tree reconciling data for Seaver people.  Lots still to do!

*  Checked Facebook, wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 12.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Saturday - 26 July 2014

This was a pretty typical Saturday here in the genealogy cave - some blogging, some research, some society work, and some Family Tree work.

*  Read email and blogs, and noted that Surname Saturday - WILSON (England > colonial Massachusetts) posted.

*  Gathered up my stuff and went out at 9:40 a.m. to the FamilySearch Library to do the RootsMagic class at 10:30 a.m.  We had 7 in attendance.  We worked on answering questions and citing sources using both free-form and EE source templates.  

*  Home by 1:40 p.m. to eat lunch, then added to the Best Of post, and checked Facebook.  Noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun- Play Ahnentafel Roulette posted.  Answered some email.

*  Went in at 3:30 p.m. to watch the Padres game.  Took a short nap too.  Read the paper, ate dinner and washed dishes, then read my book.  Pads lost 5-3 to Atlants fue to errors and walks.  Frustrating.

*  Online at 7:45 p.m. to read, then worked in FamilySearch Family Tree matching more ancestral families.  They really get messed up in the 1700s!  

*  Checked Facebook, wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Friday - 25 July 2014

This was a stay-at-home and busy genealogy day, and I got quite a bit done.

*  Read email and blogs, and noted that my 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 30: #37 Hannah (Sawtell) Hildreth (1789-1857) posted.  Wrote A Nice Surprise - "David" Smith and Abigail "Vanse" Wisconsin Marriage Record and set it for later in the morning.

*  Worked on my email inbox for awhile.  Investigated Francis West's possible ancestors without a conclusion.  Wrote WikiChicks "Spotlight" Interview ... Randy and set it for later.

*  Checked Facebook, tried to watch Family Tree Webinars videos and they didn't play for some reason.  Wrote the Surname Saturday and SNGF posts for Saturday.

*  Worked in Ancestry on some of the Oatley descendants, then worked in FamilySearch Family Tree to find spouses and children of some of them.

*  Went in at 4:45 p.m. to watch the Padres game, eat dinner, read the paper, water the front yard, and wash dishes.  Also accepted/ignored some Ancestry Hints in my AMT on the laptop.  Padres won 5-2 over the Braves, so now 46-56.

*  Online at 8 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, answered some email and did al ittle English OPC work and modified some sources, then worked in Ancestry on some of the W surnames - added quite a bit of content and sources.  Over 53,140 sources now in the database.

*  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

My Genealogy Days - 23 and 24 July 2014

I just couldn't journal last night due to a migraine headache that knocked me out for some reason. I made up for it today...

1)  Wednesday, 23 July 2014 (a warm and muggy day):

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote A Four-Generation Picture -- Post 317 for (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and then GSNOCC Seminar with Hank Jones on Saturday, 9 August and set it for later.

*  Packed up and headed off to the FamilySearch Library at 9:40 a.m.  got there right at 10, the other CVGS folks came, and I took over 140 photos of page images from several books on the shelf to help me add source citations to persons in my tree.  Sat in for a little while on Kitty Taylor's "Brick Walls" group.

*  We left at 1 p.m. and headed for Marie Callender's in Chula Vista.  There were 13 of us and we talked and laughed.  I had a chocolate satin pie slice.  Yum!  

*  Home by 2:45 p.m. with a headache, but managed to research and write Find Relatives on the BYU-EDU Relative Finder Website.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch the Padres game, eat dinner, read the paper, and water the front lawn.  The migraine kicked in full force, and I spent the last half of the game in my recliner with a wet wash cloth over my eyes listening to the game.  Pads won 8-3 over the Cubs.  Went into the back bedroom and laid down with the wash cloth, and finally to bed at 10 p.m. without checking email or anything.

It was a good day up until 6 p.m.  Genealogy this day was 7.5 hours.

2)  Thursday, 24 July 2014:

*  Read email and blogs, (lots to read!), then wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 224: 1891 Census of Canada for Alexander Sovereen Household.

*  Putzed around on WikiTree and Geni searching for my link to Thomas Jefferson, and added some discussion items.  I know that the FSFT is wrong - so are WikiTree and Geni, at least down my line past Thomas Hazard.

*  Answered email and wrote up the Q&A responses for Brittni.  Edited How Should Genealogy Societies Help Beginners? and posted it.

*  Worked on adding media and sources from the "To be filed" file of Massachusetts town records.  Got about 25 media items added. 

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch the Padres game, eat dinner, read the paper and my Michael connelly book, and the Pads beat the Cubs 13-3.  Now 45-56.

*  Online at 8:45 p.m. to read, then added life stories and some Stories to the FamilySearch Family Tree.  Lots more to do!

*  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

My Non-Genealogy Week

Well, we survived the grandgirls for 10 days...but we're tired!

I managed to keep Genea-Musings going, spending some time every day writing blog posts, and I had a few scheduled to help out.  I wasn't sure how much time I would have, but I managed several hours in the morning, several in the evening, and several more sometimes at night.  I didn't do much if any research, but I did get blog posts written.

The exception was Monday, 21 July - I got on the GeneaSleepOver around 8:30 a.m. and stayed until about 11 a.m., and then got on at around 1 p.m. and stayed until the end of 5 p.m.  In the process, I indexed three batches of obituaries which were pretty easy.

Today, the girls didn't get up until 8:30 and 9 a.m., so I got Forrest Gump Principle Strikes Again - The Frederick Sovereign (1786-1875) Drawing posted and then looked for more to do.  

*  I left at 10:45 a.m. for my dentist appointment, got home at 12 noon, we packed up the girls, the piggies and their stuff and met Tami at 1 p.m. in Carlsbad for lunch at In n Out.  We were home by 2:45 p.m., and I conked out immediately in my chair until 3:30 p.m.

*  Up and at 'em, finished up the tables and wrote Organizing the Taylor County, Iowa Land Deeds of Ranslow Smith and Devier J. Smith.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch the Padres game, eat dinner, read the paper and my book.  Pads lost 6-0 to the Cubs - terrible game.  Now 43-56 on the season.  

*  Online at 8:15 to read, add to the Best Of post, answer email, and then worked in Ancestry reconciling the Ga to Go names.  

*  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 5.5 hours.  That was pretty typical of the last 10 days - 5 to 6 hours, except for Monday, which was probably 8 hours.

My Genealogy Saturday - 12 July 2014

This was not an all genealogy day, far from it.  But I did finish some things and got a great genealogy gift from a friend.

*  Read email and blogs.  Chris sent the Smith probate record he found in Nebraska!!!  Noted that  Surname Saturday - BLOOMFIELD (England > colonial Massachusetts > New Jersey) posted.

*  Packed up and left at 9 a.m.   Got to the SDGS meeting at 9:25 a.m. and got set up.  Talked to Paul, Del, Reuben and Dave a bit.  Meeting started on time, and I did the first talk on the FamilySearch Family Tree better than any of my rehearsals...right at 60 minutes!  Then there was the ice cream - I was the first in line.  Talked to several folks about Family Tree and RootsMagic, then back into the hall and did the New England Research talk in about 50 minutes.  Tore my stuff down and left at about 12:45 p.m. for went to Bonita.

*  Got to Bonita library for the CVGS workshop at 1:15 p.m., Susi was talking about New York research.  She asked me to come up and do more on it, and I did until about 1:50 p.m., when the questions gave out and Ken got plugged in to do his Family Tree Maker workshop.  I sat in the back and read email and blogs and posted to Facebook.

*  Left at 3:10 and home by 3:30 p.m. sat in my recliner and napped for over an hour, I was tired and my throat was sore.  We ate dinner and watched TV.

*  Went online and noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Do Some Semi-Random Research posted.  Checked Facebook, answered email, and read blogs.  Looked through the Eastham notebook to see if I can find where I found some Dill and Horton data.

*  Went in at 7:15 p.m. to watch the Padres game, watered the front lawn and plants, and read the newspaper, then my Lincoln Lawyer book, and washed dishes.  Dodgers scored in the bottom of the 9th to win 1-0.  Drat, another great pitching performance wasted and major offensive failure for Pads.  Now 41-53.

My Geneaholic Friday - 11 July 2014

I think I'm ready for the two talks on Saturday - one's new, one's seasoned.  The problem is time limits, I really need 60 minutes for each of them.

*  Read email and blogs, then noted that 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 28: #35, Elizabeth Horton (Dill) Smith (1791-1869) posted and wrote Seavers in the News - James T. Seaver, Master of a Civil War Vessel - Post 2 and set it for later.

*  Added 100 people to my Watch list on FamilySearch Family Tree - already got an email!

*  Answered email and added to the Best Of post.  Made a GEDCOM in RootsMagic to import to update the linked tree in FTM but messed everything up.  Unlinked the AMT from FTM and now can't do the merge I wanted to do.  Oh well.  Wasted an hour or more.

*  Wrote Why Do I Have Two Ancestry Member Trees?   Wrote the Surname Saturday post for Saturday.  Downloaded all of the available state research guides from Ancestry.  Practiced the Family Tree talk again - right at 60 minutes.  Got the presentation files on the laptop.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV news, and back online at 6:15 to write the SNGF post for Saturday.

*  Went in at 7:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper and finished my C.J. Box book.  The guy is great.  Wonder if the trucker in "The Highway" will be a recurring character?  Read on the phone, played in Flipboard some also.  Pads beat the Dodgers 6-3, so now 41-52.

*  Online at 10:40 p.m. to write this post, check Facebook, and I'm done.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Thursday - 10 July 2014

The day sort of got away from me...nothing but blogging except for the presentation practice.  Oh wsell...

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 222: 1871 Census of Canada for Alexander Sovereen Household and then Seavers in the News - James T. Seaver, Master of a Civil War Vessel - Post 1.

*  Did the final edit on the Family Tree presentation, and practiced it.  Came out at 60 minutes.  I really need 50 minutes.  Did some work for Deb on her case...found some social network stuff for her.  Interesting!

*  Worked a bit in WikiTree, then wrote Breaking Up is Easy To Do -- Deleting a Relationship in WikiTree.  Wrote four review posts for next week when the grandgirls are here, but messed up and posted Review: Genealogy at a Glance: FamilySearch.org Research.  Oh well.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. for dinner, watched TV, and online at 6 p.m. to work on Elizabeth Dill for the 52 Ancestors post.  Got it done, but it took awhile sorting things out.

*  Went in at 8 p.m. to watch the Padrs game, read the paper, water the front yard and wash dishes, then read my book.  Pads lost to Dodgers 2-1.  At least it didn't go long.  Now 40-52.

*  Online at 9:45 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook, and write this post.  Genealogy today was 10.5 hours.

My Geneaholic Wednesday - 9 July 2014

This was a pretty good genealogy day, although I didn't accomplish much, but I had some fun.

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Randy in the Greenhouse -- Post 315 for (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and San Diego Genealogical Society Meeting on Saturday, 12 July - Ice Cream Social and Randy Seaver and set it for later.

*  Worked in family Tree for awhile, then packed up and off to McDonalds for lunch at 11 a.m. and to the library by 11:30 a.m., and into the conference room at 11:45 a.m. to get set up for the CVGS Research Group meeting.  We had 15, and it was a lively two hours.  Got a book, stopped by the bank, and headed home.

*  Home by 2:30 p.m. to watch the end of the Padres game, lost to Rockies 6-3.  Drat, now 40-51.

*  Online at 3:15 p.m. to read, then wrote Comments About GEDCOM Files, Family Tree Maker, and Ancestry Member Trees.  Worked a bit more in Family Tree.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV news, eat dinner, and read the paper, then washed dishes and took a 30 minute walk to look at the new bridge.  Not done yet.

*  Home and online at 7 p.m. to write five CVGC blog posts, then hunted for the mariner James T. Seaver.  Found him finally, and got parents, but cannot connect to an existing Seaver line in Massachusetts.  Found descendants too, some living, in an AMT.

*  Answered email, checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.5 hours.

I worked all day, and took most of the evening off from genealogy.

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Tuesday's Tip: FamilySearch Family Tree Curriculum.

*  Watched Tom Kemp's Family Tree Webinar and checked out Tom's presentations on slideshare

*  Researched and wrote Searching for Ranslow Smith Information on Mocavo.com.

*  Edited and practiced my Family Tree presentation, then worked a bit in the Ancestry Hints and captured a number of good records for the database.

*  Wrote Top 10 Family History Online International Resources Survey Results, then did some more Ancestry Hints.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch the Padres game, eat dinner, read the paper, read my book, water the front lawn, and wash the dishes.  Pads lost 2-1 to the Rockies.  Wasted another good pitching performance.  Now 40-50 on the season.

*  Read email and blogs, and noted that  Amanuensis Monday - Post 225: 1869 Deed of Land in Taylor County, Iowa from Ranslow and Julia Smith to Devier Smith had posted.  

*  Got on the Mondays With Myrt panel (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39XLNqpzayo) and contributed a bit to discussions on Pennsylvania Death Certificates and DNA results.

*  Researched and wrote How to Put a Family Tree on Ancestry Member Tree With Media Items.

*  Printed off the CVGS Newsletter, made the mailing labels, and off to the UPS Store to publish the newsletter and get it in the mail.  

*  Home by 2 p.m. to read, work a bit in Pennsylvania Death Certs on Feather and Remley persons, added content and osurces to the database.  Then added some Remley data to FamilySearch Family Tree.  

*  Tried to figure out how to print a Portrait Tree in Family Tree, and ended up writing Changing the Preferred Photo in FamilySearch Family Tree.

*  Went in at 6 p.m. to watch the Padres on TV, ate dinner, read the paper, finished by Alex Hawke novel, and came online when the rain delay happened after 7 innings.  Pads beat Colorado 6-1 so 40-49 on the season.

*  Online at 8:30 p.m. to read, answered email, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.5 hours.

My Genealogy Weekend - 5 and 6 July 2014

These were not full genealogy days - sort of hit and miss.

1)  Saturday, 5 July:

*  Read emails quickly, and off to the Men's breakfast at Marie's at 8 a.m.  Home by 9:30 a.m. to read blogs, note that Surname Saturday - DUNHAM (England > Holland > Massachusetts > New Jersey) posted, and write Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Your Father's Mother's Patrlineal Line and set it for later.

*  Worked more on the Ancestry Hints - downloaded several, and found the early Watertown vital records and downloaded some pages.  Original those!

*  We left at 1:40 p.m. for the trolley station, got to the tin Fish at 2:40 p.m. for lunch with Joan, and into Petco by 3:30 p.m.  Game started at 4:15.  Pads led briefly, made some mistakes, and lost to Giants 5-3 in 10 innings.

*  Home by 9 p.m. to read, check Facebook, answer email, and didn't do anything useful.  Didn't journal either!  Genealogy this day was 4.5 hours.

2)  Sunday, 6 July 2014:

*  Read email and blogs, finished up the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 29 June to 5 July 2014 post.  We went off to church at 9:30 a.m. and were home by 11:30 a.m.

*  Read, worked more in Ancestry Hints, and went in at 1 p.m. to watch the Padres game.

*  Read the paper, took a nap, and read my book.  Padres lost to Giants 5-3 and didn't lead at all.  Now 39-49 on the season.  Drat.

*  Online to read and check Facebook, but power outage at 4:17 p.m. caused me to reboot.  We went off to pick up Ruth at 5:`15 p.m. for her birthday dinner.  Went to the Barbecue Pit in NC.  It's close and Linda can eat there.  

*  Home by 7 p.m. to read, and finished up the CVGS Newsletter.  The wrote the Amanuensis Monday post.  Checked Facebook, read blogs and email, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 5.5 hours.

My Lazy Friday - 4 July 2014

Do you ever want to just take the day off and do something fun?  I did, but I didn't...not much anyway, until the end.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that My Revolutionary War Soldiers posted, and wrote 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 27: #34 Alpheus B. Smith (1802-1840).

*  Answered email, checked Facebook, wondered what to do, and we got invited to lunch with Ruthie at her care facility.  We left at 11:45 a.m. and had hamburgers and ice cream on the patio - very pleasant.  Then visited with Nina and Ruth - Ruth told us about her parents and cousins lost in the holocaust.

*  Home by 2:30 p.m. to read, wrote Contribute to the Family History Online International Research Use Survey.

*  Went in at 3:30 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper and take a nap.   We went to Lolita's at 5 p.m., home by 5:45 p.m., and watched the rest of the fame.  We won 2-0 over giants, 5 in a row, now 39-46.

*  Online at 6 p.m. to read, forgot to work on the CVGS newsletter, worked in MyHeritage Record Matches to clean up SSDI and Texas Birth Index records.  Had most of the latter already.  Then worked on some loose Seaver ends trying to find parents in census records.  Found several useful obits on GenealogyBank and added them to the database.  Have 52,900 sources.

*  10 p.m. rolled around quickly, missed the fireworks (heard them), added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Thursday - 3 July 2014

It's 4th of July eve...what should I post to honor Independence Day?

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 221: 1861 Canada West Census for Alexander Sovereen Household and then wrote Using Find-A-Record to Find Record Collections for a Specific Geographical Place and set it for later.

*  Created a GEDCOM, imported it into Family Tree Maker, and uploaded that tree to Ancestry as a new Member Tree.  It went fairly quickly, but the media is still loading 12 hours later!

*  Worked in Ancestry Hints for my ancestral Member Tree for a long time.  Got through all of the Hints for the rest of the tree through 5th great-grandparents.  That was a big job!  Found several records I had not seen before, and saved a bunch of them and put them in the To Be Filed folder.

*  During the Hint process, I wrote Deleting an Attached Photo From an Ancestry Member Tree because I needed to do it.

* Went in at 4 p.m. to watch news, take a nap, read the paper, eat dinner, water the front yard, and wash the dishes.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, then worked on the CVGS Newsletter - got it about 60% finished.  

*  Worked in the Han to Har surnames in the database adding content and sources.  

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 11.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Wednesday - 2 July 2014

This was CVGS board meeting day...so I missed most of the Padres game.  Other than that, it was pretty much all genealogy.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Betty and her Grandparents -- Post 314 for (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and then Finding Genealogy Gems in Pennsylvania Death Certificates, 1906-1944.

*  Packed up and off to McDonald's for lunch at 11 a.m., then the library to visit with John's group, and then the CVGS Board meeting at 12 noon, which lasted until 2:30.

*  Home by 2:45 p.m. to watch the end of the Padres 3-0 win over the Reds (4 straight, 38-47 now).  

*  Online at 3:30 p.m. to read, wrote Census Records on Ancestry.com are FREE from 2 July Through 6 July.  Checked Facebook, answered email, and worked in the Family Tree adding persons and event data, got most of the Rich and Richmond families entered.

*  Went in for dinner at 5:30 p.m., watched TV news, took out the trash and washed dishes.  

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to work on the next 52 Ancestors sketch, then worked in Ancestry adding sources and content to the H a surnames.  Got down to Hannah.  Lots of H's to do!

*  Read blogs and email, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 11.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Tuesday - 1 July 2014

Ho hum, another month, I did lots of genealogy, and the Padres have won three in a row.  I love days like this!

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Tuesday's Tip - Check Out Canada Record Collections on FamilySearch.  Worked in Find-A-Record and wrote Using Find-A-Record to Add Information to Your FamilySearch Family Tree and set it for later.

*  Updated the Family Tree presentation and handout, and then the New England presentation and handout and i'm good to go, I think, for Saturday 7/12 at SDGS.

*  We left at 1:50 p.m. to pick up Connie, load up her stuff and take her to her new home in Lemon Grove.  Listened to the World Cup game on the way home, then watched the end of it on TV.

*  Online at 4 p.m. to read, write Book Release: "Ancestors in a Nation Divided" and then added Carringer data from Ancestry's Pennsylvania Death Certificates to the database.  Added about 130 source citations.

*  Went in at 5:20 p.m. for dinner, watched TV game show, and back online at 6 p.m. to read, do some more Pennsylvania Death Certificates.  Added some persons and event data to Family Tree in the Carringer line.

*  Went in at 7 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, wash the dishes , water the front year, and read my book.  Pads beat Reds 8-2, finally got some hits!  Three straight, but only 37-47 and in 3rd place in the division now.

*  Online at 10 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook, and write this post.  Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.
