My Semi-Genealogy Day - 28 February 2016

One more day in February, then it's March and I have several deadlines coming up.  I better stop chasing BSOs and get therm done.

*  Read email and blogs on my phone before church.  We left at 9:30 a.m. for church, and then took off afterward to meet Tami and the kids at Ruby's in Carlsbad.  Only Lauren and Charlie came, but it was fun and not too hectic.  We walked through the mall afterwards, left at 2 p.m. and were home by 3 p.m. after stopping at Ralphs.

*  I took a nap.  Majorly tired.  Online at 4 p.m. to read, noted that Best of the Genea-Blogs - 21 to 27 February 2016 posted.  Checked Facebook, added two photos from lunch, then worked on transcribing the Amos Plimpton will.

*  Went in for dinner at 5:30 p.m. and read the paper.  Online at 7 p.m. to note that Added or Updated Databases at Ancestry.com - Week of 21 to 27 February 2016 posted.

*  Finished the transcription and wrote the Amanuensis Monday post.  Then worked in the database adding content and sources for Sl to Sou surnames in the database.

My Genealogy Day - 11 February 2016

12 blog posts, one ancestor researched, FHL photos transferred, a visit to the care center, and dinner out.  That was my day!

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Treasure Chest Thursday Post 300: 1777 Military Records of Jeremiah Knowlton (1745-1785)Suzanne Winsor Freeman Memorial Student Genealogy Grant Applications Invited and Findmypast Announces Strategic Investment In Twile, Winner of Two Innovation Awards at RootsTech 2016 and set them about two hours apart.

*  I had neglected the CVGS blog for two weeks, so wrote 7 blog posts there, including the Research Group summary from Wednesday.

*  Transferred the FHL photos from the iCloud file to the FHL folder in To be filed.  159 of them.  Haven't named them yet.  Answered email and added to the Best Of and RootsTech Compendium posts.

*  Had lunch, then wrote RootsTech 2016 Highlights: What's Coming for Ancestry.com?  Took a well-deserved nap!

*  We left at 2:45 p.m. for Barbara's to visit and take her mail.  Went to El Pollo Loco for dinner and Coldstone for ice cream, and home by 6 p.m.  Watched TV news and read the paper.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to work on Jeremiah Knowlton's events.  Searched for deeds and found three, downloaded, named and abstracted them.  Then wrote notes for all of the events, added them into the Person note, and sourced everything.  Need to write the post on Friday.

*  Answered email, downloaded CVGS photos from Diane and put them in the CVGS file, added to the RootsTech Compendium post, checked Facebook and wrote this post (#12 for the day).  Whew.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

My Genealogy Wednesday - 10 February 2016

I'm still winding down from RootsTech with more material to post.  I'll be back on my regular schedule soon, though!

*  Read email and blogs, added to the Best Of and RootsTech compendium posts, then wrote  Jamboree 2010 Photos -- Post 399 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday,  RootsTech 2016 Keynote and Class Videos Available on RootsTech.org and SDGS Meeting on 13 February Features Steve Morse on DNA and set the last two for later.

*  Packed the laptop and left at 11 a.m. for lunch at McDonalds, a brief appearance at John's group, then got set up for the CVGS Research Group.  We had a big group, about 22, had to bring in extra chairs.  I reviewed RootsTech in all its glory, research, photos, videos, syllabus, etc.  Also touched on the Ancestry/FTM/RM issue.

*  Home by 2:30 p.m. to read, update the compendium, then wrote 12 Takeaways from the RootsTech 2016 Conference.  Checked Facebook, and answered email.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. to watch TV, read the paper, and eat dinner, put out the trash and washed dishes.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, then worked on Ancestry Hints - resolved 68 of them adding content and sources.  Only 32,262 to go!

*  Went in at 9 p.m. to watch the second half of the Aztecs game - they lost 58-57 to Fresno to break the streak.  Now 18-7.

*  Online at 10:15 p.m. to read, then wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.5 hours.

Back in the Saddle Again

I haven't journaled since I got home on Sunday because the light in the genea-cave burned out when I turned it on Sunday night.  It was dark and I couldn't see the keyboard.  I went out and bought a desk lamp today.  Here's today's journal:

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Tuesday's Tip: Watch RootsTech 2016 Videos on YouTube and  DearMYRTLE YouTube Videos About RootsTech 2016.

*  Left at 10:45 a.m. to go to the hygienist for tooth cleaning.  Got a referral for a root canal (oh boy) and some meds for my gum problem.  Went to Wal-Mart for lunch, then got the meds at the pharmacy and bought the desk lamp and a clock radio for the cave.

*  Home by 1 p.m. to read, then added to the blog compendium and printed off the CVGS Newsletter.  Left at 2:30 p.m. to publish the newsletter;  home by 3 p.m. to take a nap.

*  Wrote More Information About Family Tree Maker and RootsMagic Synchronization to Ancestry, and answered email.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m.  to watch TV news, eat dinner, and read the paper.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to work in the Findmypast Marriage collection.  Went in at 8 p.m. to watch Finding Your Roots, but Lori called and I missed the first 15 minutes.

*  Online at 9 p.m. to update the blog compendium, check Facebook and write this post.  Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.
