My Genealogy Day - 21 September 2013

This was the hectic "day before we go on the cruise" day - and there were things to do and places to see.

*  Read email and blogs in a hurry, and off to the SDGS seminar at Mission Bay.  Got there by 8:30 a.m. and sat with three CVGS ladies.  Saw two of Geoff's presentations, had lunch with Diane and the speakers, and then attended Karen's first talk.  I left at 1:45 p.m. and was home by 2:15 to read, note that Surname Saturday - TRIPP (England - colonial Rhode Island) and Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - How Many Children/Grandchildren in Your Birth Surname Line? posted.

*  Went in at 3:15 to read the paper and take a short nap, and we left before 4 for dinner at In 'n' Out and the trolley to Petco Park for the Padres game.  In our seats by 5 p.m., and watched the Padres lose to the Dodgers 4-0.  So we end up 11-10 at Petco Park this year.

*  Home by 9 p.m. to fire up the laptop and add the last RM file and GEDCOM to the laptop, plus the latest files for the cruise.  Put all of the electronic stuff in the bedroom and will pack the laptop on Sunday morning.

*  Finished up the Best Of post and got it ready for Sunday, and wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

The Geneaholic will be dark for several weeks as we go on the Legacy Family Tree cruise.  I will have daily posts about where we are and at least some of the daily meme posts on Genea-Musings, plus some reviews.  I ran out of time to write new posts on different issues or to create posts from the "Best of Genea-Musings" files.  You can read those at Genea-Musings' "Best" Posts.

My Genealogy Friday - 20 September 2013

Disappointment, genealogy work, visiting, Padres win...my day in the Genealogy Cave.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Follow-Up Friday - Helpful and Interesting Reader Comments posted.

*  Contact at the school called to say they didn't need me there today.  Explained I was gone the next two weeks...oh, well, call when you get back.  I will.  Warned him two weeks ago about our cruise.

*  So I spent the time wisely, writing genealogy blogs and getting stuff moved to Dropbox to add to the laptop.  Wrote the SNGF post for Saturday.

*  Went off to the pharmacy to get stuff...for the trip.  Home to write First Look at Family Tree Maker 2014 - Post 5: New Family View Report.  Then A FREE Swedish Genealogy Research Day in San Diego - October 19, 2013 and set it for later.

*  Did some online research adding content and sources to the database.

*  Went in at 4:45 p.m. to watch TV news, we ate dinner, and Geoff and Tanya came at 5:15 to pick up the Legacy boxes.  We chatted for awhile, and then loaded up their SUV.  We'll see more of them on the cruise.

*  Online at 6 p.m. to check Facebook, then did more online research.  Made a GEDCOM of the file and closed RootsMagic, then saved both files to Dropbox to have on the laptop on the cruise.

*  Went in at 7:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and finish my Patterson book.  Linda wanted instruction on Facebook so I missed some of the game.  Padres beat Dodgers 2-0, so no 72-81 on the year.  We go on Saturday night.

*  Online at 10:10 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook and write this post.

Genealogy today was 9.5 hours.

My Genealogy Thursday - 19 September 2013

Only three more get-ups before the next Charger game and our Legacy cruise.  Linda's packed, i'm not.  I am almost ready, though!

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 182: 1920 U.S. Census Record for the Henry Carringer Household in San Diego, California and then wrote Family Tree Webinars Offers Free Viewing for Limited Time and set it for later.  Answered some email and worked in Legacy for awhile.

*  Almost forgot to go off at 10:40 a.m. for the Rohr retired engineers lunch.  It was a lively group, my friend George is back from Greece really tan and fit.

*  Home by 1 p.m. to read, answer email and write Making a Descendants Chart Using Legacy Family Tree 7.5.

*  Wrote the Follow-Up post for Friday, then checked in on Facebook and added to the Best Of post.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV news, read the paper, and eat dinner.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, added to the CVGS Newsletter (now 85% done) and answered email.  Worked in the database adding content and sources.  Wrote this post.

My Genealogy Wednesday - 18 September 2013

We got the phone fixed, but it took two appointments, several phone calls and an ugly wiring job to do it, but it was about the only option.  Oh yeah, did some genealogy and the Padres won.

*  Read emails, and blogs, and wrote (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Post 274: Grandparents at our Wedding.  for good measure, wrote two more posts.

*  Wrote Making a Descendants Chart Using Family Tree Maker 2014 and set it for later.

*  Arranged for the lawn cutting, the phone repair was scheduled at 1 p.m., so left for McDonalds and lunch at 11 a.m., got to the library at 11:45, looked in on the Computer Group folks in the dark learning about Windows.  Left soon, went to the bank for cash, stopped at the teller and asked about the bank account changeover.  He said the automatic payments would be taken care of, except for the SS check, but he filled out a form to send in to take care of it.  Cool!  That was good news!

*  Home by 12:30 p.m., and the phone repair called.  They came, changed out a fitting, proclaimed it good, tested it and it worked, and left.  Then the phone didn't work again soon after.  Rats.  Another call to have them come.

*  Back to genealogy, worked on CGSSD Meeting on Saturday, 21 September: "Through Their Eyes" with Alice Volkert and posted it.

*  Checked email, updated the Best Of post, looked for new databases, and worked on the CVGS Newsletter for October.

*  The phone repair guys came at 4:15 p.m., changed us from analog to digital, which required tapping a coaxial line in the family room, and running a coax cable from in back of the TV to the ceiling and to the inside wall and down to the new modem for the phone.  Took awhile to get it connected and turned on.  But it works, which is better than not working.  And it was free (unless we have to rent the modem, I don't think so).  Whew.

*  We watched the Padres game, I read the paper and dozed, we ate dinner, and the Padres won 3-2 over the Pirates.  Did the dishes, took out the trash, and watered the front plants.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, check Facebook, and do online research adding content and sources.  Answered some email, and wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

My Genealogy Tuesday - 17 September 2013

This was another stay-at-home, almost all-genealogy day, except for dinner time and the Padres game.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Tuesday's Tip - Finding FamilySearch's New or Updated Record Collections.  Wrote two more Tuesday's Tips for the next two weeks.

*  Wrote Genealogy Rock Star Poll Results, checked Facebook, added my high school grad picture.  worked on and wrote Making a Descendant's Chart using RootsMagic 6 and set it for later.

*  Answered email, then checked Massachusetts Land Records again form ore Isaac Seaver entries.  forgot that the last volume is about 1869 at present.  Added to the Best Of post.  Organized the Massachusetts folder in Localities into Counties andm oved files into them.

*  Went in at 4:15 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, eat dinner, and try to make the damn landline phone work.  Sporadic dial tone.  Called the phone company on the cell phone, who took my number and said they would get back to me.  They never did.  Padres won 5-2 over Puirates (now 70-80, won 10 out of 14 now).

*  Online at 7:20 p.m. to read, check Facebook (few comments on my photo...), and worked in the database adding content and sources.  Did a lot in Higgins and Dill, and found many sources in Mass VRs on American Ancestors.  Wrote this post.  Phone works!

My Genealogy Monday - 16 September 2013

This was a busy genealogy day, but not exactly what I expected!

*  Read email and blogs, then noted that Amanuensis Monday - Post 189: Deed of Luke Bigelow to Isaac Seaver 3d in Westminster, Mass.posted.

*  Joined the Mondays With Myrt crowd at about 8:45 a.m. and we started at 9 a.m.  Unfortunately, around 9:25 Myrt had major problems with the Internet in her hotel in Cincinnati, and the HOA ended abruptly.

*  Plan B was ... write some blog posts, so I researched and wrote MyHeritage Record Detective Attaches Search Results to Tree Profiles.

*  Wrote three more reviews ro post while on vacation.

*  Wrote First Look at Family Tree Maker 2014 - Post 4: Finding and Replacing Information and set it for later in the afternoon.  Answered a bunch of emails, some from over a month ago.

*  Started some online research, found some more Pickford descendants - cousins through the Richmonds.  Added content and sources.  worked in maps looknig for Westmnster MA map from 1870 to identify the Seaver homesteads.

*  Went in to watch the Padres game, watch TV news, read the paper, eat dinner, water the front plants, and wash the dishes.  Pads won 2-0 on a 1-hitter by Cashman (now 69-80, 3rd place).

*  Online before 7 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, wrote two Surname Saturday posts to go up while on vacation, then did some online research adding content and sources.

*  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.

My Genealogy Sunday - 15 September 2013

September is half over, and I had a very frustrating day with the computer, but the Chargers and Padres won, and I got some things done on the blog today.

*  Read email and blogs, finished up the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 8 to 14 September 2013 post but forgot to set it for noontime.  Fixed it later.

*  Watched NFL Today, the Chargers-Eagles game (great game, 33-30 Bolts, now 1-1), and the end of the Padres game (4-0 over Braves, now 68-80).

*  Came in to the computer at 1:40 p.m. and it was slow and then froze.  Fought it, finally turned it off and on, and it said I had a corrupted file.  got the laptop out, checked to see what to do, it said run Chkdsk, so I set that to run, shut it down, turned it on, and it eventually worked.  Cost me an hour of angst.

*  Wrote the other 8 posts for the cruise days.  Went in at 4 p.m. to watch the end of the Broncos game and then the Saints game.  Not over until after 5:30, so we went to Lolita's for dinner, and ColdStone for ice cream, and home by 7 p.m.

*  Read, wrote 4 Amanuensis posts, then worked in the database adding content and sources.  Checked Facebook, started a new Best Of post, and wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 5.0 hours.

My Genealogy Saturday - 14 September 2013

Only 8 days until the cruise - now I need to get serious about blogging it.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Surname Saturday - GIFFORD (England > colonial Massachusetts) and one for next week too.

*  Researched and wrote Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Do Some Semi-Random Research and set it for early afternoon.

*  Wrote 7 blog posts highlighting cruise days and still have 9 more to write.  Have a system now!

*  Wrote September 11th CVGS Research Group Summary on the CVGS blog.

*  Worked on some email correspondence answers in DNA Tribes.

*  Went in at 4 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, almost took a nap, ate dinner, watered the back yard, watered the front plants, and read my book.  The Pads lost 2-1 to the Braves.

*  Online at 7:15 p.m. to answer email, but the computer froze.  Couldn't get it out of "Logging Off" when I tried to Restart.  Fired up the laptop, Googled the solution, and tried several.  The one that worked was holding the power button down for over 10 seconds.  That permitted a restart.  Frustrating - lost 30 minutes doing this!

*  Answered email then did more DNA Tribes work and responded to my correspondent, checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post and did some online research adding content and sources.

My Genealogy Friday - 13 September 2013

Friday the 13th turned out to be an interesting and fun day, not badlucky at all.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Follow-Up Friday - Helpful and Interesting Reader Comments posted.

*  Gathered the laptop and stuff up and off to the school by 9:30 a.m. for the second episode...the students started outlining their trees and making their canvas poster boards. Many of them are well along with their trees, and several had done an exceptional job.  Helped answer questions about how to show relationships.  Went to lunch at In 'n' Out, and back, but the students were working hard on their canvas and didn't need me.

*  Home by 1 p.m. to read, noted that First Look at Family Tree Maker 2014 - Post 3: Put Children and Spouses in Date Order posted.  Wrote First Look at my AncestryDNA Ethnicity Update - Post 2: More DNA Results.

*  Gathered the papers for the bank account change and contacted Linda's health care provider to see I could pay the premium.  That worked...only 8 more to go!  We can do almost all of them by mail, I think, except my Social Security payment.  All of this took over an hour to work through just for one change.

*  Went in at 4:30 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and eat dinner.  Padres came from 3-0 against Braves to win 4-3.  Now 67-79 on the season.

*  Online at 7:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook, and then worked in the database adding content and sources.

My Genealogy Thursday - 12 September 2013

This was almost an all-genealogy day, save for the Padres game.  Some surprises today!  Surprises almost always lead to blog fodder, so I like them.

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 181: 1930 U.S. Census for Henry Carringer Household in San Diego, California

*  Research and wrote First Look at Family Tree Maker 2014 - Mea Culpa! Looking Again at the Person Migration Map in the Places Workspace.

*  worked on the party address list.  Wrote five blog posts scheduled for during the vacation.

*  Checked the AncestryDNA site an hour before the presentation, noted that I was one of the chosen few, and wrote First Look at my AncestryDNA Ethnicity Update and set it for later.

*  Connected using GoToMeeting for the AncestryDNA presentation but had to call in to hear the presentation and discussion.  Used my cell phone and earplugs to avoid a long distance bill.  Interesting discussion, learned a lot new, and wish I could repeat what I heard but I can't - I don't learn that way.  I'll leave it to others to highlight the discussion.  I did get to ask my question about the time frame, and the answer was "nobody knows for sure!"

*  Went in at 4 p.m. to watch the Padres game (had a rain delay), read the paper, and we ate dinner too.  Put the new phone system together and scrapped the old one.  Padres lost I think, I left in the 7th inning with them behind 9-5.

*  Came in at 7:15 p.m. and worked on the party address labels and gave them to Linda.

*  Wrote two posts for Friday since I'm off to school again for half the day.  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook and wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

My Genealogy Wednesday - 11 September 2013

This was a very typical second Wednesday for me - did quite a bit of genealogy, but not all good!

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Post 273: Here Comes the Bride and then First Look at Family Tree Maker 2014 - Post 2: View People by Location and set it for later.  Checked for new databases at Ancestry and FamilySearch.

*  Got cleaned up, then packed up the laptop and papers and off to McDonalds for lunch and then the library for the CVGS Research Group meeting at noon.  Got set up, and the tablet hot spot kept dropping out every 5 minutes or so.  Used Gary's for most of the two hours.  Not too much new for everybody there.

*  Home by 2:30 p.m. to read, and wrote Last Call for SDGS Seminar on Saturday, 21 September 2013.  Answered some email and did some online research until 4 p.m.

*  Went in at 4 p.m. to watch the Padres game, take a nap, eat dinner, put out the trash, water the back yard and wash the dishes.  Padres lost 4-2 to the Phillies.

*  Online at 7 p.m., but Linda had chores for me, but wrote two posts for the vacation time.  Then answered email, fixed the FTM post, and did online research adding sources and content using MyHeritage Record Matches in Find A Grave.  Did 29 matches, now down to 1213 to confirm or reject!

*  Checked Facebook, wrote this post, add to the Best Of post, and I'm done.

Genealogy today was 9.5 hours.

My Genealogy TuesDay - 10 September 2013

This is a big day in our family, my grandson Lucas was 10 today.  We called tonight to sing to me and asked him what he was going to buy with our gift.

*  Read email and blogs, and researched and wrote First Look at Family Tree Maker 2014 - Post 1: Family View.  Also added the head shot images to the Portrait image for the ancestors.  Still have more to do, but I figured out how to do it.  More FTM 2014 posts to come.

*  Discovered new databases on Ancestry.com, so I wrote 20th Century Massachusetts Vital Record Indexes New on Ancestry.com and set it for later.  Did more exploring there too.  also saw the updated Colorado marriages on FamilySearch and mined that for Seaver, Vaux and Carringer data.

*  Wrote three posts for the Chula Vista Genealogy Cafe blog - the Seminar review, the newsletter summary and another one.  Wrote Tuesday's Tip - Find Out New or Updated Databases on Ancestry.com and set it for later.

*  Checked Facebook and then transcribed two more land deeds for Isaac Seaver so that I have some amanuensis Monday posts while we're away on the cruise.

*  Went in at 4 p.m. to watch the Padres game and read the paper.  We left at 5:20 p.m. for dinner at Lolita's and were home by 6:15.  I watched the rest of the game.  The Pads beat Philly 8-2 and it wasn't that close.  Now 66-77 and won 6 out of 7.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post.  Fired up the laptop and downloaded FTM 2014 to it.  Worked in the database adding content and sources for awhile.

*  At 9 p.m. went in to watch the Jim Parsons episode of WDYTYA?  A good episode, interesting to see the early Louisiana and pre-revolution French records.

*  Online again at 10 p.m. to read, answer email and write this  post.

Genealogy today was 10 hours.

My Genealogy Monday - 9 September 2013

California as a state is 163 years old today.  Nobody got the day off.

*  Read email and blogs, and noted that Amanuensis Monday - Post 188: 1847 Deed of Samuel Munroe to Isaac Seaver 3rd in Gardner, Mass. posted.

*  Packed up the laptop and off at 9 for the school, met the teacher, gave my talk, answered questions, done after an hour.  Home by 11 a.m. to read, eat lunch, and back for the 12:30 class - did the same thing.  Home by 1 p.m. to note that Inquiring Minds Want to Know More About the FamilySearch and Ancestry Partnership posted.

*  Read, added to the Best Of post, and futzed around for awhile, worked in the database a bit, wrote and answered some email, and finally wrote Recently Added Databases on NEHGS AmericanAncestors.org.  Did some more database work.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch TV news and eat dinner, then online to listen to Mondays with Myrt and work in the database some more, and went in at 7 p.m. to watch the Chargers game.

*  Read the paper waiting for the game to start, Chargers lead after the first half 21-7.  I knew that was too good to be true...flashback to the Denver game last year.  Houston turned it on in the second half winning it 24-7, and won the game 31-28 with a last second field goal.

*  Online to read, check Facebook, and write this post.

Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

My Genealogy Sunday - 8 September 2013

We leave on our Panama Canal cruise in two short weeks.  I'll be real busy these next two weeks getting posts scheduled on Genea-Musings, plus my special project and family things.

*  Read email and blogs, and finished up the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 1-7 September 2013 post.  Worked on the Amanuensis Monday post because I won't have much time on Monday morning.

*  Off to church at 9:30 a.m. and home by 11:30 a.m. to watch NFL football.  Worked on presentation for special project - adapted an earlier talk down to 30 minutes or so.

*  Had lunch, watched football, and at 1:30 p.m. came back and edited two handouts for the project.  Wrote Vote for Your Favorite Genealogy "Rock Stars" Now!

*  Back to watch football and read the paper, before we took off at 3:30 p.m. to go to Jean's birthday.  I took her a copy of her father's World War I draft registration card for her birthday.  We had a nice dinner at 94th Aero Squadron, with Barb, Jean and Karen.

*  Home by 7:15 p.m. to read, edit the handouts and talk one time, made PDFs, and added to flash drive, Dropbox and laptop computer.

*  Wrote a post for Monday mid-day because I'll be gone on my project until after 2 p.m. on Monday.  Then worked in the database a bit adding Notes to some Events and relationships.

*  Checked Facebook, started the Best Of post, and wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 5.5 hours.

My Genealogy Saturday - 7 September 2013

It was a big genealogy day, although I didn't do ANY research or blogging at all (besides this post, that is).

*  Read email but had no time for blogs, and left at 7:45 a.m. for Marie Callender's for my men's group breakfast at 8.  Left early at 9:15 a.m.

*  Got to Bonita library before 9:30 for the CVGS Fall Seminar.  Four talks on War of 1812, Civil War, Spanish-American War and World War I.  Went to lunch at Jacque in Ze Box with John and Vickie,.  Checked email and blogs too.  Had to leave early in order to get to the Padres game in time.  At the lunch break, noted that Surname Saturday - LNU (colonial Massachusetts) and Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Where Were They 150 Years Ago? posted.

*  Home by 3:40 p.m. to pick up Linda and the Padre gear, and off to In'N'Out for a quick dinner, then the trolley to Petco Park, and in our seats by 5 p.m.  Saw the Eastlake Little League team be recognized...fun.  Padres beat the Rockies 2-1, so we're 11-9 attending games this season.  One more game to go.

*  Home by 9 p.m. to read, check Facebook, add to the Best Of post, and write this post.  I'm tired!  My butt is tired after 6 hours in hard chairs at the seminar and 2 hours in a harder chair at Petco.

Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

My Genealogy Friday - 6 September 2013

I was so excited last night about my new venture that I didn't get to sleep until 2 a.m.  Up at 7:15...and didn't get a nap.  Too busy.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Follow-Up Friday - Interesting and Helpful Reader Comments.

*  Did one more edit on the CVGS Newsletter and printed it off, made the labels and checked Ancestry and FamilySearch for new databases - nothing exciting to me!  Answered some email.

*  Had lunch and then researched and wrote Ancestry.com "New Search" Results With Wild Card Names.

*  Gathered up the Newsletter stuff and off to the UPS Store to copy it, label it, stamp it and mail it.

*  Home by 2:40 p.m. to read, answer email, then wrote the two Saturday posts.  Added to the Best Of post, and then searched for the 1865 and 1855 Massachusetts census records for my folks on FamilySearch, downloaded them, sourced them, abstracted them into notes, and attached media to the folks.  The other 9 Legacy cruise boxes came today - they're pretty light.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV news, and eat dinner.  Came back online and did more in the Mass State Census.

*  Went in at 7:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and then my book.  Pads came back from 3-2 in the 9th to beat the Rockies 4-3.  Kelly didn't get splashed - I was disappointed.

*  Online at 10:30 p.m. to write this post, check Facebook and done.

Genealogy today was 9.5 hours.

My Genealogy Thursday - 5 September 2013

This turned into a real interesting genealogy day...maybe a major turning point in my genealogy life.  Or not.  We'll see.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 180: Pennsylvania Land Warrant for Cornelius Feather (1777-1853) and then Ancestry "Old Search" and "New Search" Comparison with Exact Matches and set it for later.

*  Worked in the Pennsylvania Archives website trying to find more info about land warrants and patents.  Didn't find what I wanted.

*  Received interesting email from James asking for information about using Ancestry.com.  Answered him.  During the day, received two more emails and answered them with more information.

*  Received phone call from reader about Ancestry.com, and talked to her for about 40 minutes.  Interesting conversation.  Checked Facebook too.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV news and football, read the paper and eat dinner.  Did the dishes and watered the front plants.

*  Online at 6:15 p.m. to finish up the CVGS Newsletter, then talked to James on the phone about Ancestry.com and more.  Will meet him on Monday to thrash out some details.

*  Worked online adding content and sources to the database.  Got stuck on some thorny problems and didn't get much done.

Wrote this post, added to the Best Of post.  Genealogy today was 11.0 hours.

My Genealogy Wednesday - 4 September 2013

The genealogy work was interrupted by a CVGS boring board meeting, but I managed to add quite a bit to the database today.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Post 272: The Getaway Car and then SDGS Having a Big Library Sale on September 6th to 8th and set it for later.  Answered some email.  Worked in Ancestry looking for Richmond data to add to the database - found some data for distant cousins.

*  Printed off the CVGS stuff, and left at 11:30 p.m. for the bank and the library.  Meeting started at 12:05 p.m. (a record) and we were doing great until we had about 45 minutes of discussion that should have been done in committee, plus some arguments.  Frustrating.  Out finally after 2 p.m.

*  Home by 2:15 p.m. to read, answer email, then researched and wrote Another Ancestry.com "Old Search" vs. "New Search" Comparison.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch tennis, read the paper, eat dinner, take out the trash, and then found out the Padres game started at 3:40.  Tuned in in the 7th it was 8-5 Giants, ended up 13-5.  At least I didn't suffer through 3.5 hours of it, only 1.5 hours!

*  Online at 7:15 p.m. to read, answer email, then work in the database adding Find A Grave info using the MyHeritage record matches.  Confirmed about 40, only 1226 to go!  This is new ones due to the recent update on MyHeritage.  Added over 100 sources tonight.

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook and wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

My Genealogy Tuesday - 3 September 2013

I didn't do one useful bit of genealogy research all day...but still made some progress.

* Read email and blogs, wrote Tuesday's Tip - Use "Story View" on Ancestry.com.  Wrote Free CVGS Seminar on Saturday, 7 September - "A Century of Service - A Genealogist's Perspective" and set it for late in the morning.

*  Worked in the FS Family Tree for awhile looking at the George Soule material.  What a bigger mess.

*  Had lunch and off to the dentist for my cleaning.  Stopped and got my pre-cruise haircut too.  Home by 2:15 p.m.

My Genealogy Monday - 2 September 2013

This was Labor Day, and not a day of rest, unless you count the short nap I took before dinner.

*  Read emails and blogs, noted that Amanuensis Monday - Post 187: Probate Records of Henry Carringer (1800-1879) in Louisa County, Iowa (Part 3) posted.

*  Got dressed and cleaned up before 8:45 a.m. so I could join the Mondays With Myrt Hangout on Air.  Had a pretty good session - I discussed my recent research finds and also how I save my email.

*  Wrote Labor Day - "There are things that happen in a second that take a lifetime to explain."

*  We left at 11 a.m. for lunch at In'n'Out and then took the trolley to Petco Park for the Padres game, which started at 12:40 p.m.  Pads won 4-1.  Visited by a former softball coach who recognized us!  Pads won 4-1 over Giants to tie them at 61-76 in the standings.

*  Home by 4:30 p.m. to read, noted that The Problem with FamilySearch Family Tree - Thomas Dudley (1576-1653) posted.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV, read the paper and take a short nap, then dinner, and water the front plants.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, then worked on the Legacy cruise presentation, and then worked in the database adding content and sources.  Deleted some extraneous persons also.

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook , answered emails, and wrote this post.

My Genealogy Sunday - 1 September 2013

8 months down, 4 months to go in 2013.  The Legacy cruise leaves in 3 weeks.  I guess I'd better start printing out the syllabus and getting my presentation updated.

*  Read email and blogs, finished up Best of the Genea-Blogs - 25 to 31 August 2013 and set it to post after noon.

*  We went off to church at 9:30, and home by 11:30.  Desktop computer was unresponsive, reboot and works fine.  I have no clue why this happens once or twice a week.

*  Worked in New Hampshire probate records looking for Burgess Metcalf in 1816 in Piermont and Michael Metcalf in 1771 in Keene - don't think they had a probate record.

*  Went in at 1 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper and take a nap.  Pads lost 2-1 to Dodgers again.

*  Checked Facebook and Google+, did some online research and went in at 5 p.m. to make dinner and eat, watch TV news, water the back yard, and fill the bird feeder.

*  Online again at 6 p.m., watched the DearMyrtle's MGP Study on YouTube until 7 p.m., then wrote two posts for Monday.  Did online research adding sources and content for Davis folks.

*  Started the Best Of post, printed out the SDGS Newsletter, and wrote this post.
