My Genealogy Friday - 30 June 2017

The year is half over on Sunday at noon time.  Cooler again today.

*  Dropped Linda, home to read, picked her up, shopped at the grocery, home by 9:40 a.m.

*  Played in RootsMagic with WebHints.  Kinda sucky.  Went into my new Ancestry tree and stimulated a bunch of Hints - there weren't enough in RM.

*  Took a nap, had lunch, drove the Lincoln to the library for a book.  Home by 2 p.m.

My Genealogy Thursday - 29 June 2017

Day #181 on the 2017 calendar has slipped by and tomorrow is the last day of June.  I still have family things that need to be done sooner rather than later.  I'm bad... It was cooler today, just about perfect San Diego weather - high in the mid-70s, low in the mid-60s.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read email and blogs, picked her up and we went sheet hunting at Wal-Mart and Bed Bath and Beyond.  Wasted an hour doing this - they're probably cheaper on Amazon and more convenient to shop, too.

*  Home by 10 a.m. to note that 1720 Death of William Whitney of Weston, Mass. - Post #371 of Treasure Chest Thursday posted, added to the Best Of post, and wrote  Ancestry Video: Descendants of the Declaration Signers.

*  Answered email, watched the Ancestry videos, and worked a bit in Ancestry and RootsMagic.  Took a nap.  Had lunch.

*  Online at 1 p.m. to read, then researched and wrote Using RootsMagic TreeShare - Adding Facts, Media and Sources to My RootsMagic Tree.  Whew!

*  Checked Twitter and Facebook, then worked on the 52 ancestors biography gathering data, adding events and sources, etc.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch TV news, eat dinner, then watched the Padres game, read the paper, and read my book, and did the dishes.  Padres beat the Braves 6-0, so now 33-46 on the season.  The starting pitching has gone like 12 games without a blowout inning.

*  Online at 9:15 p.m. to read, then wrote the 52 Ancestor post for Friday.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

My Genealogy Tuesday and Wednesday - 27 and 28 June 2017

These were not big genealogy days because of life and Padres, but they were fairly productive.  It was warm on Tuesday (probably 85-90F here) but cooler today (75 to 80F at most).

1)  Tuesday, 27 June 2017

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up at 9 a.m. and we went to Ralph's for groceries.  Home by 9:40 a.m.

*  Noted that Treasure Chest Tuesday -- 1870 U.S. Census Record for John C. Paul household in San Francisco, California posted.  Wrote Dear Randy: How Do I Create a GEDCOM File for Part of My RootsMagic Tree? and set it for later.

*  Took a nap, had lunch, and online at 12:45 p.m.  Wrote Genealogy News Bytes -- 27 June 2017 and set it for later.  Added to the Best Of post.  Checked Facebook.  Worked in Ancestry on folks from the RootsMagic database, adding content and sources.

*  Wrote the Wordless post for Wednesday.  Answered email.

*  We left at 5 p.m. for the trolley, ate at Tin Fish and in Petco Park by 6:30 p.m.  Padres lost 3-0 to Braves, so now 31-46 on the season.  We are 5-5 when in attendance.  Home by 10:45 p.m. Did not journal or even check email or blogs.  Genealogy this day was 7.5 hours.

2)  Wednesday, 28 June 2017

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up at 9 and home by 9:15 a.m.

*  Noted that Mount San Jacinto in January 2013, Part 2 -- Post 470 for (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted, added to the Best Of post, and saw that RootsMagic had updated their program.

*  Downloaded RM 7.5, then wrote a blog post about it - GREAT NEWS: RootsMagic Now Has Ancestry TreeShare and WebHints Activated as it worked to upload my RootsMagic database.

*  Collected the food, Linda, and our pictures and went off at 10:40 to the CVGS picnic at the Brock's house.  It was great fun.  Good food, good friends.  The program was to tell about your oldest photograph or picture - at least 20 attendees participated.  I did my Isaac Seaver Union Case, Linda did her 1906 earthquake picture from the wall.   We were home after 2 p.m.

*  Online to read, add to the Best Of post, and wrote Looking at My New RootsMagic Upload Ancestry Member Tree and Source Citations.

*  Checked Facebook and Twitter, answered email, and checked out WebHints a bit.

My Genealogy Monday - 26 June 2017

This was a frustrating day...and a stay-at-home genealogy day.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read, got ready for MwM, and went to pick her up.  got there at 8:45 a.m. and she came waltzing out at 9:05.  Home by 9:15 a.m.  Frustrated.

*  Tuned into Mondays with Myrt and had to start again, then the audience couldn't hear me.  Messed with the inline mic.  Figured out that the webcam also has sound, so after an hour of messing with it I finally said something they could hear.  Frustrating.

*  Added to the Best Of post, noted that Added or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 18 to 24 June 2017 posted, and worked on the  presentation and handout for Class 4 of my OASIS class.  That's done.  No frustration.

*  Took a nice nap.  Had lunch, then online at 12:45 p.m. to read, noted that Amanuensis Monday - Deed Records for Joseph Seaver (1672-1754) in Roxbury, Massachusetts - Part 1 posted and wrote Family Tree Maker 2017 Update - 25 June 2017.

*  Wrote this post.  genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

Sunday, June 25, 2017

My Genealogy Sunday - 25 June 2017

My Genealogy Tuesday - 6 June 2017

We go to Huntington Beach on Wednesday and then to Burbank on Thursday.  Geneaholic will be dark until Monday, probably.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read, picked her up and home by 9:15 a.m.  Noted that Treasure Chest Tuesday -- 1871 Death Record of Ole Olsen in Voss, Norway posted.  Wrote Book Notice: "Find Your Roots Now!" by Joe Long and set it for later.

*  Added to the Best Of and News posts, and answered email.  Took my nap.  Up at 12 noon, had lunch, then worked on the CVGS newsletter and finished it up.  Finalized the Genealogy News Bytes - 6 June 2017 post.  Transferred the downloaded syllabus articles to the SCGS folder.

*  Wrote six blog posts for the rest of the week.  I may skip the 52 Ancestors post this week - it was going to take a long time to work on.  Checked Facebook.

*  Went in for dinner at 5:30 p.m., then worked on the rose bush while Linda was at the neighbor.

*  Home at 6:40 p.m. to read the paper, watch the Padres game, read my new book, and wash dishes.  Padres got behind early to Dbacks 7-0 so I packed for the trip, downloaded the Sunday articles and transferred them, and online to read and write this post.  Padres lost, 10-2.  Now 23-36 on the season.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

My Genealogy Monday - 5 June 2017

Two more getups and we're off to Huntington Beach (Lauren's play) and Burbank (Jamboree).  I've started some preparations by am further behind due to unforeseen events.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read, picked her up at 8:50 and home by 9 a.m.

*  Jumped into Mondays With Myrt and didn't contribute very much.  At 11 a.m., answered email and added to the Best Of post.  Noted that Added or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 28 May to 3 June 2017 and Amanuensis Monday -- Probate Records of John Young (1649-1718) of Eastham, Massachusetts posted.  Wrote Family Tree Maker 2017 Installation News Update and set it for later.

*  Took a 30 minute nap.  Had lunch, then got on the laptop to copy files from the flash drive to the laptop, which took awhile.  Later, I successfully downloaded FTM to it and that took awhile too - it kept stalling.  Synced one of my trees with it.

*  Tried to sync a big tree on the desktop but I closed it after 5 hours.  Downloaded all of the Friday syllabus articles from the Jamboree app, and renamed them and put them in the 2017 Jambo file folder.  I need to remember to put that folder in Dropbox to transfer to the laptop.

*  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and kept track of my three projects.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to help with dinner, we ate, I read the paper and did the dishes.

* Online at 7 p.m. to read, add data to the database from my Auble cousin, plus some gravestone photos he sent, and then wrote the Treasure Chest Tuesday post.  I think I'm done - genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

My Semi-Genealogy Weekend - 3-4 June 2017

This was not a big genealogy weekend.  Not much research, some blog post writing, and Padre games.  Jamboree is next week and I need to get ready for that.

1)  Saturday, 3 June:

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read a bit, then off to my Men's breakfast at Callenders at 8 a.m.  Picked Linda up at 9:30 and we were home by 9.45 a.m.

*  Noted that Surname Saturday - HOSKINS (England to colonial New England) posted, added to the Best Of post, and answered email.  Rested my eyes for a bit at my desk.

*  We left after 11 a.m. for In 'n' Out for lunch, then took the trolley to Petco Park for the Padres game.  We were in our seats by 12:40 p.m.  Padres lost in a dismal game 10-1 to the Rockies, breaking the 5 game winning streak.  We are now 4-4 in attendance.  Padres are 23-34 on the season.  We took the trolley, and stopped at El Pollo Loco for dinner.  We were home by 6 p.m.

*  Online, I wrote the Ancestry and FamilySearch posts, noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Which Ancestor Moved the Furthest? posted, and added to the Best Of post.  Checked Facebook, and tried to get a motel room for Thursday night.  Expedia wouldn't let me reserve for some reason at the preferred hotel.  Genealogy this day was 4.0 hours.

2)  Sunday, 4 June:

*  Read email and blogs while watching Meet the Depressed.  We went to church at 9:30 and home by 11:30.

*  Finished up the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 28 May to 4 June 2017 post, and started the new one.  Looked for a document for Amanuensis Monday for next week.  Reserved a hotel in Glendale and Expedia took my money.  Whew.  It's only 2-3 miles from the Marriott.

*  Went in at 1:40 p.m. to watch the Padres game, took a nap in the recliner, and read the paper.  Padres lost 3-1 to the Rockies so now 23-35 on the season.

*  Came in to the computer at 4:50 p.m. to write this week's Amanuensis post.  Noted that Added or Updated Databases at Ancestry.com - Week of 28 May to 3 June 2017 posted.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch TV and eat dinner.  Online at 6:20 p.m. to read, then transcribed a deed for next week.  Started on the CVGS newsletter and got it 70% finished.

*  Checked Facebook, wrote this post, and I'm done.  Genealogy today was 5.5 hours.

My Genealogy Friday - 2 June 2017

This was an all-genealogy day until the evening, and I did no research but did some blogging.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up and we went to the grocery store.  Home by 9:40 a.m. to read, noted that 52 Ancestors - Week 178: #257 Eunice (Rayment) Seaver (1707-1773) of Massachusetts posted.

*  Wrote New Records Available to Search and Browse This Findmypast Friday, 2 June 2017 and then wrote three posts on the Chula Vista Genealogy Cafe blog.

*  Had lunch, added to the Best Of post, and answered email.  Rested my eyes for 30 minutes.

*  Online at 1:30 p.m. to read, then wrote SCGS Genealogy Jamboree Plans - Sunday Events and worked on the News Bytes post.  Checked Twitter and Facebook.  Noted that Genealogy News Bytes - 2 June 2017 posted.

*  Wrote the two Saturday posts, then answered more email.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch TV, ate dinner, and worked a bit pulling weeds in the front yard.

*  Online at 6:40 p.m. to add to the Best Of post, and went in at 7:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, finish my Robert Crais book, and started a Goodman book on my tablet.  Padres beat the Rockies 8-5, so 5 in a row and 23-33 on the year.  I didn't think we'd ever be above .400 for the year again.

*  Online at 10:20 p.m. to read, then wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

My Genealogy Thursday - 1 June 2017

Five months down in 2017, and 7 to go.  I'm feeling older.  This was pretty much a stay-at-home genealogy day.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up at 9:30 and we went shopping at Costco, and had a hot dog for lunch.  Home by 11 a.m.

*  Noted that 1707 Birth Record of Eunice Raymond (1707-1772) of Marblehead, Mass. -- Post #367 of Treasure Chest Thursday posted, then wrote SCGS Genealogy Jamboree Plans - Saturday Events.

*  Added to the Best Of post, answered email, and browsed a bit on Ancestry Hints.  Watched Trump's speech.  Wrote Seavers in the News - Searching for My Name.  Checked Twitter and Facebook.  Filled out a survey.  Dozed in the computer chair.

*  Worked in the Auble line, adding persons, content and sources.  Didn't add too many, but may have figured out an Auble connection (not in my line).

*  Went in at 5:20 p.m. to watch TV, eat dinner, read the paper, water the front plants, and do the dishes.

*  Online at 6:40 p.m. to read, then wrote the 52 Ancestors post, and worked in Ancestry Hints - adding content and sources.  Resolved 96 Hints, only 37321 Record Hints left - it's a losing battle!

*  Checked Facebook and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.5 hours.
