My genealogy Thursday - 30 May 2013

I went out twice today...even got some walking done!

*  Up early to be at the medical center by 7 a.m. for my blood/urine test (to see if the meds worked!).  Home by 7:30 a.m.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - 1870 U.S. Census Record for Jonathan Oatley and then SCGS Genealogy Jamboree - My Friday Sessions and set it for later.  Checked out some of the NEHGS collections for ancestors.

*  We left at 11 a.m. for the trolley and were in Petco Park by 12 noon for the Padres game.  Boring...we lost 7-1.  Home by 4 p.m.

*  Read everything, wrote Dear Randy - How Do You Handle False or Wrong Information?

*  Went in for dinner at 5 p.m., read the paper, watched TV, and watered the front plants.

*  Online by 6:30 p.m. to read, check Facebook, answer some email, and attached some images to Kemps in my tree, plus some source citations.  Found out I have Ancestry's "Story View" and explored it - can't figure out what it uses for the images and text.

*  Added content and sources to the database from Ancestry, FamilySearch and AmericanAncestors databases.  Got bogged down with one family.

*  Added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

My genealogy Wednesday - 28 May 2013

Three more days left in May...time sure flies when you're having genealogy fun.  Jamboree is next week!

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Post 258: Little Ed Seaver on the Rocks and "Early New England Families Study Project" at NEHGS - WOW!!

*  Answered some email, than packed up and went to the library at 11:15 a.m. for the CVGS program meeting at noon.  Visited with John and his acolytes, checked out a book, and had lunch at the hospitality table.  Meeting started at 12:15 p.m. and the microphone system didn't work.  Shirley gave her talk on New York Research.

*  Was home by 2:15 p.m., read everything, added a GEDCOM to Treelines, then researched and wrote How Educated Were People in Worcester County, Mass. in the 1940 Census?  Wrote CVGS Workshop - Saturday, 1 June: One-on-One Research Assistance for Attendees.

*  Answered more email, and went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch the news, read the paper, eat dinner, wash the dishes and put out the trash.

*  Worked on more email at 6:45, and back to watch the Padres game at 7:15.  Got 100 pages into my Michael Connelly novel.  Pads won 3-2 in 10 innings over Mariners, now 24-28 (14-12 at home, 10-16 on road).

*  Online at 10 p.m., read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

My genealogy Tuesday - 28 May 2013

It was a presentation day, so I spent only some time online.

*  Up early, read email and blogs, then noted that Tuesday's Tip - Check Out FamilySearch's Virginia Collections posted.

*  Left at 8:15 a.m. for Carlsbad - traffic in Mission Valley and Pacific Beach, but got there in an hour.  Met the folks, got set up, was introduced at 10:15 and did my "Overview of New England Research."  It still needs work - too many slides, not enough images.

*  Home by 12:30 p.m. to eat lunch (rewarded myself with a pizza slice), then online to note that Creating Relationship Reports in RootsMagic 6 posted.

*  Captured the Isaac Seaver deed images, then wrote Mining the Massachusetts Land Records, 1620-1986, for Isaac Seaver (1823-1901) Deeds.

*  Looked for more deeds, especially for Thomas Newton, Lambert Brigham, Sophia Brigham, Sophia Newton and Thomas Dill.  Not much luck.

*  Went in for dinner at 5 p.m., read the paper, watched TV, fed the birds, did the dishes, and back online at 6:15 p.m. to look form ore deeds without much luck.  I'd better pick a person and do them one at a time.

*  Went in at 7:15 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read my book, read AA magazine (great issue).  Pads won 6-1 over Mariners, now 23-28 and coming home.

*  Online at 9:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook, do al ittle online research (Vermont VRs), and write this post.

My genealogy Monday - 27 May 2013

The grandgirls were here over the weekend, including this morning, so I did very little on the genealogy front on Saturday and Sunday.

*  Today, I read email and blogs, then wrote Amanuensis Monday - Probate Records of Arthur Hathaway (1630-1711) of Dartmouth, Mass. and I'm Presenting "An Overview of New England Research" on Tuesday, 28 May at NSDCGS (Carlsbad, Calif.) and set it for later in the day, all while feeding the girls and playing with them.

*  Got the girls out in the sun for awhile - we took a walk, they scootered, and then sat in the shade in the back yard while Audrey collected seed pods and filled them with bird seed.  Lolo worked on the computer for awhile - she even contacted customer support of a website for help!

*  We met Tami and James at 12:15 p.m. at Lolita's for lunch, and then back to the house to pack up and send them off to a barbecue.  We came home and watched the Padres game, napped, and I read the paper and then my book.  Pads lost 9-0 to the Mariners and it wasn't that close.  Easily one of the worst games of the year.  Now 22-28.

*  Online at 4 p.m. to work on CVPC stuff, then answered some email, checked FTDNA results, and looked for info online about Thomas Hale and Robert Hale.  Found great websites for both, with useful information.

*  Went in for dinner at 5:30 p.m., then back online at 6 p.m. to work on my presentation for Tuesday.  Added content, edited format, saved it as PDF, put onlto Dropbox, fired up the laptop, copied it from Dropbox to lap, then to flash drive, and shut laptop down.

*  Wrote two posts for Tuesday since I'll be away from 8:15 a.m. until 1 p.m.  Checked Facebook, wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 5.5 hours.

My genealogy Friday - 24 May 2013

The grandgirls arrived today for the weekend with grandma and grandpa - yippee!  They sure put a crimp into my genealogy time!

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Follow-Up Friday - Helpful and Interesting Reader Comments and then SCGS Genealogy Jamboree News and App and set it for late morning.

*  Went off to the bank and pharmacy running errands.  The girls arrived with Linda before noon (they met for lunch in Mission Valley), as I was thinking about lunch for me.  We talked, played, and I took a nap while they watched TV.

*  Linda took them to Barbara's to swim at 2:30 p.m. and I had some time to read, write the Surname Saturday post, and answer some email.  They came home at 4:30, we had dinner after 5, and Dahlia came to visit with Linda.  We watched the Padres game, I set up Lauren on the laptop playing her games, and Audrey watched TV.  We started getting them ready for bed at 8:15.  Lauren was down by 9, and Audrey by 10.  The Padres lost to the D-backs, 5-2.

*  Read everything, then checked Facebook, and wrote the SNGF post and this post.

Genealogy today was 6.0 hours.

My genealogy day - 23 May 2013

I played hooky from genealogy tonight and took Linda to a play - The Sound of Music - in North Park.

*  Read emails and blogs, then wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - 1850 U.S. Census Record for Albert White Household and U.S. Military Records FREE on FindMyPast from 24 to 27 May and set it for later.

*  Answered some email, and worked in Legacy trying to figure things out.  Then wrote Wish List for Legacy Family Tree 8.

*  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and worked on the New England presentation.

*  We had dinner, watching TV news, and left at 6 p.m. to deliver food to Nellie, then to north Park for the play at 7:30 p.m.  got there early, and read my email and blogs while waiting.  also downloaded the Jamboree app.

*  Home at 10:45 p.m. to read, then write this post.

Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

My genealogy Wednesday - 22 May 2013

I even went out to a cemetery today and got some exercise and some sun.  I need to do that more often.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Post 257: A Young Edward R. Seaver and then Military Records FREE on MyHeritage Through 28 May and set it for later.

*  Tuned in at 10:45 a.m. to watch Lisa Alzo's webinar on Ten Hidden Resources.  Pretty good webinar - I learned something.

*  After lunch, printed off the query for the cemetery, and my map of Glen Abbey, and off to find the Petersens.  Walked for almost 30 minutes before I found them.  The map has only blocks shown so they're about an acre each.  Took some pictures.

*  Home by 2 p.m. to read, then worked in GenealogyBank and Fold3 looking for San Francisco Chronicle articles for Linda's ancestral families.  Wrote Found Newspaper Articles for Linda's Parents in 1937 in San Francisco.  Found some Find A Grave entries also, so added them and sourced them.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. for dinner, watched TV news and did my chores (trash out for pickup).

*  Onlnie at 6:15 p.m. to read, then worked in the database for awhile on random people - adding content and sources.

*  Went in at 7:15 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and start my Baldacci book.  Added the cemetery photos to Dropbox on the iPhone.  Pads lost 5-3 to the Cards (now 21-25).

*  Online at 9:30 p.m. to read, added to the Best Of post, worked in the database a bit more adding content and sources, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 9.5 hours.

My genealogy Tuesday - 21 May 2013

Next Tuesday is my New England talk at NSDCGS...I'd better edit it some more to add more pictures and have fewer words.

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Tuesday's Tip - "Mondays with Myrt" Hangouts on Air on Google+ and YouTube and Review: "Tracing Your Colonial American Ancestors" Special Magazine and set it for later.

*  Did some more Richmond research, added some people and a few dates/notes/sources to the database.

*  Had lunch, and left at 12:35 p.m. for the Dentist office for my cleaning.  Home by 2:15.

*  Read, then wrote Dear Randy - How Do I Research My German Ancestors? in hopes that readers will comment.  Several did, with useful information.

*  Watched the LVUG YouTube from last week.  Pretty good.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV, read the paper, and we had dinner.  Worked in the rose beds for over an hour, cutting back and weeding.  Only 5 rose pricks to my knowledge.

*  Came in at 7:10 p.m. just in time for the Padres game.  Read the paper, then my book, finished it and did the dishes.  Padres lost to Cards 10-2 - a yawner.  I shoulda done some research...

*  Online at 10 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook, and write this post.

Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

My genealogy Monday - 20 May 2013

Only 18 more days until Jamboree!!!  I looked at the schedule today...

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Amanuensis Monday - Probate Records of John Kenyon (1647-1732) of Westerly, R.I. and then researched and wrote Massachusetts Land Records, 1620-1986 Available on FamilySearch - Digital Microfilm.

*  Started up Legacy, downloaded the latest update, and nosed around in it for awhile.  Checked Facebook and Ancestry's new databases (nothing new...).

*  Printed off the CVGS SOP for the Seminar committee and went off to John's house for the SOP meeting at 1 p.m.

*  Home by 3:15 p.m. to read, then checked the Legacy user forum and wrote When Will Legacy Family Tree Version 8 be Available?  Watched the latest Legacy webinar on Land Records - pretty good.  Answered some email.

*  Went in to watch TV news, and have dinner.  Filled the bird feeders.

*  Online at 6 p.m. to read, then worked in the database a bit, finding vital and census record for people, and adding sources when possible.

*  Went in at 7:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and then read my book.  Pads beat Cardinals 4-2.  Pads now 21-23, 13-10 at home, 8-13 on the road.  16-8 in the last 24 after a 5-15 start.

My genealogy Sunday - 19 May 2013

It wasn't much of a genealogy day, but I got several things accomplished.

*  Read email and blogs, updated Best of the Genea-Blogs - 12 to 18 May 2013 and set it for early afternoon.

*  Went to church at 9:30 a.m., home by 11:30 a.m.  forgot about the Scanfest.  Drat.

*  Added some sources and content for one of the Richmond families in my database, from ancestry and FamilySearch.  There's more to do on their children.

*  Went in at 1 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and take a nap.  Took several naps!  Padres won 13-4 going away.  Did some outside chores, and put our 4th mouse in the trash - the "sticky" traps work well, but it takes awhile for the victim to die.  Ate dinner watching TV news.

*  Online at 6 p.m. to read, answer email, and then worked in Evidentia for two hours.  Managed to get one study done and a report created.

*  Edited my New England genealogy talk syllabus and sent it off to Tom.

*  Worked some more on two of the Richmond children, adding content and sources.  Found a neat obituary for one of them.  Checked Facebook, added to the new Best Of post, and wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 6.0 hours.

My Genealogy Friday and Saturday - 17-18 May 2013

These were a busy two days with genealogy, a doctor's visit, and the Padres games.

1)  Friday, 17 May:

*  After reading emails and blogs, and noting that Follow-Up Friday - Helpful and Interesting Reader Comments posted,

*  I left at 8:45 a.m. for a 9:30 labe test in downtown San diego.  I've been coughing, and the doctor wanted to eliminate a physic problem, so I went for a swallow test.  They turn on the x-ray machine, adjust it, and watch you swallow a number of foods/drinks, all coated or containing barium so that it's visible on the x-ray.  It was interesting, painless, and I got my morning snack calories.

*  Home by 10 a.m. and researched and wrote Finding Isaac Seaver (1823-1901) in FamilySearch Record Collections and set it for later.

*  Did one last edit of the Blogging presentation, saved it to Dropbox, and started the laptop and loaded it from Dropbox and made sure it worked.  Charges the laptop and all devices for Saturday.

*  Wrote the Syrname Saturday post, and then wrote I'm Speaking at South Orange County, California Genealogical Society (SOCCGS) on Saturday, 18 May.

*  Worked in Evidentia some more, adding sources and claims for Devier Smith's birth.  I need to review the videos available to make sure I'm doing things right.

*  Went in for dinner, did some chores, and tried to join the Evidentia Hangout but it was full.  So I worked in Oklahoma marriages on FamilySearch - added sources and data.

*  Watched the Padres game, we lost 6-5 to Washington in the 10th inning.  Drat.  Came in to quickly write Saturday Night Genealogy Fun post - did the research needed, and off to bed at 11:15 p.m.

Genealogy this day was 9.0 hours

2)  Saturday, 18 May:

*  Read email and blogs, and packed up the laptop and stuff, plus the map, and off to Mission Viejo for my SOCCGS presentation on Blogging.  Left at 8:15 a.m., got there by 9:40 a.m., met Francie and crew, and sat through their business meeting.  Lots of good information about programs and new ideas.  At the break, I got setup and ready to speak, had a snack, and started at 11 a.m.  It went OK, although the images on the screen were relatively small, and a lot of my slide backgrounds are white (not my fault people use a white background on their blogs or web pages!).  Done at 12 noon, answered some questions, and packed up and left by 12:30 p.m.

*  Traffic was heavy to Dana Point and then San Clemente to Leucadia, home by 2:30 p.m.  Read email and blogs, noted that Surname Saturday - WHEELER (England > Colonial Massachusetts) and Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Your Own Scavenger Hunt posted.

*  Watched the Preakness, then got ready to go to the Padres game.  We left at 3:50 p.m., stopped at El Pollo Loco for Linda's dinner, to the trolley, and in Petco Park by 5 p.m.  I had a pizza slice for dinner.  Padres won 2-1 over Washington in a fast game - two hours, well pitched.  Padres are now 19-23, 11-10 at home, 8-13 on the road.

*  Home on the trolley, arrived at 8:45 p.m. and read.  Helped Linda a bit.  Checked Facebook and Google+.  Wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 4.0 hours, plus 4 hours of driving to Mission Viejo and back.  I'm tired!

My Genealogy Thursday - 16 May 2013

Some blogging, finalized my presentation, an abortive lunch trip, and the Padres lost.  Drat.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - 1850 U.S. Census Record for Henry White Family and then Survey of Genealogy Database Software Usage and set it for later.

*  Left at 10:45 a.m. for the retiree lunch, but the restaurant was closed.  Saw nobody else...so I went shopping at Office Depot for mailing labels and a new stapler (lost the other one, had it probably 30 years, don't know where).  The smog test place was busy, so came home by 12 noon.

*  Had lunch, then worked on and published Ancestry.com Changes Search Results Page Format.  Posted CVGS Newsletter for May 2013 Published and CVGS Research Group Review for May 2013.

*  Worked on the Blogging presentation for Saturday, added two slides and edited it a bit.  Done (I think).

*  Wrote a blog post for Friday morning because I have a medical appointment.

*  We left at 4:50 p.m. for the trolley, ate at the Tin Fish, and suffered through a 6-2 Padres loss to Washington.  Drat, we're 2-3, Padres are 18-22.

*  Home by 10:10 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and write this post.

Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

Wednesday, May 15, 2013

My Genealogy Wednesday - 15 May 2013

This was a pretty typical genealogy Wednesday - a CVGS meeting, some blogging, and some database work.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Post 256: Grace and Bess at the Lake and then CGSSD Meeting on Saturday, 18 May - Jamie Mayhew on the FamilySearch Wiki and set it for later.  Researched and wrote Finding Isaac Seaver (1823-1901) in Ancestry.com Record Collections and set it for the afternoon.

*  Printed off several articles for Shirley on New York, ate lunch at home, watched a bit of the Padres game (we won 8-4 over Orioles) and went off to the library at 11:30 a.m for the CVGS Computer Group meeting.  We had 11, but no real interesting sites.

*  Home by 2 p.m. to read, then worked with scanned images to get them into the Ancestral Files on my computer.  Found lots of them to do!

*  Worked in the database adding content and sources for the Hildreths.  Wrote The Genealogy Guys Podcast Celebrates its 250th Episode.

*  Went in for dinner, watched TV news, did my chores (dishes, trash out, laundry) and was online again at 7 p.m.  Worked in the database adding content and sources, and deleted some extraneous people.

*  Added to the Best Of and NGS posts, checked Facebook and wrote this post.  Google+ and Ancestry changed their face today!

Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

Tuesday, May 14, 2013

My Genealogy Tuesday - 14 May 2013

It was a stay-at-home Tuesday, with a Padres win, so a pretty good day because I got a significant task completed.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Tuesday's Tip - Check Out the New York Town Guide for Locality Records.

*  Worked on the Blogging presentation for Saturday for most of the morning and afternoon, breaking only for lunch.  Got it about 95% completed, need a final edit and sanity check.

*  Researched and wrote Does the MyHeritage Record Detective Find My Isaac Seaver Search Results?  No.

*  Went in at 4 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, eat dinner and read my book.  Pads won it 3-2 over the Orioles in the 9th inning, scoring two runs.  Now 17-21 on the season.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of and NGS posts, then worked in the database adding sources and content.  Found some obituaries on GenealogyBank that lead to adding about 70 Seaver folks to the database, between the obits, census records, SSDI, and AMTs.

*  Checked Facebook and wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

My genealogy Monday - 13 May 2013

I'm back in the daily routine again - did lots of genealogy stuff today, but not sure if I made any progress.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Amanuensis Monday - Probate Records of Elizabeth (Jenckes) Tefft (1658-1740).

*  Tuned in to DearMYRTLE's Mondays With MYRT Hangout on air, got on the panel again.  Talked a bit about the NGS Conference, and some on Research Note Reports.

*  Took off to Costco for lunch and flowers for Linda for Mother's Day (I know, a day late, but it's the thought that counts).  Got home just before she did, and She liked them.

*  Noted that First Look at Record Detective and Record Extraction Features on MyHeritage posted (written last night).

*  Worked a bit in MyHeritage and then in Geni trying to figure out if the Record Detective thing really works well.  I have many more search results than Detective matches for some people.  I don't know why - the folks should be found.  Was able to match some folks in Geni to extend some of my lines back in time.  I need to do more of that so I can use Geni occasionally.

*  Posted Moorshead Magazines Offers Bundle of Magazines on Special Topics.

*  Worked in the database for quite a while, got through the Co* names and am finally to the Cr* names.  Stopped at 5:15 p.m. to go have dinner, watch TV news and read the paper.

*  Online again at 6:15 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, update the compendium post, and then worked in the database adding content and sources.  Deleted some of the Richman unconnected persons and added more Hilperton/Trowbridge citations to the database.

*  Checked in on Facebook, wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 11.5 hours.

My genealogy week - 7 to 12 May 2013

We're back from the NGS 2013 Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.  We had a great time, and pretty much stayed in the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino the whole time, until Saturday night.  You can read about my days in:

Day 0 at the NGS 2013 Conference (7 May 2013)
Day One at the NGS 2013 Conference -- Morning Report (8 May 2013)
*  Day One at the NGS 2013 Conference -- Afternoon Report (8 May 2013)
*  Photos From NGS Day One - Mariachis and Elvis! (8 May 2013)
*  Day Two at the NGS 2013 Conference (9 May 2013)
*  Exhibit Hall Pictures from the NGS 2013 Conference (10 May 2013)
*  Day 3 at the NGS 2013 Conference (10 May 2013)
*  MyHeritage to Announce Record Detective Feature (11 May 2013)
*  More Pictures from the NGS 2013 Conference (11 May 2013)
*  Day 4 at the NGS 2013 Conference (That's all, Folks!) (12 May 2013)

I cover Sunday, 12 May in the Day 4 post, at least up until we got home.

This afternoon I posted Happy Mother's Day 2013 and Best of the Genea-Blogs - 5 to 11 May 2013.

We went to Miguel's in Eastlake for a Mother's Day dinner, and then to Coldstone for an ice cream (which blows my diet, but it was good!0.

We were home by 6, and I updated my NGS 2013 Blog compendium and wrote the Day 4 post, and then wrote a post for Monday morning.

I checked on Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus, and am ready to sign off and come back in the morning.

Had a computer freeze-up incident today - the mouse froze for awhile until I manually turned off the computer and turned it back on, and it went through the CHKDSK cycle - didn't seem to highlight anything wrong.  I hadn't had it on since Tuesday morning - perhaps I need the McAfee to work its wonders.  I think I'll do more regular backups!

My Genealogy Monday - 6 May 2013

This blog went missing for three nights - the grandgirls came on Friday night and I did no genealogy until the left on Sunday night, other than reading.  I did finish the CVGS Newsletter and the Blogging handout on Sunday, subject to one more edit.

On Monday, it was a fairly full genealogy day until we went to the Padres game.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Amanuensis Monday - Probate Records of Edward Carr (1669-1712) of Jamestown, R.I. and then Changes to the Evidence Analysis Process Map in GPS and set it for later.

*  Was on the Mondays with Myrt Hangout On Air at 9 a.m., but didn't contribute a lot.  Printed off about half of the NGS syllabus articles I wanted.  Tried to save individual handouts as a PDF but that wasn't allowed.  So I printed off a bunch of them - kind of defeats the pupose of providing a digital handout, I think.  I would rather be able to open an individual handout and print it than have to search through the 70 mb 584 page syllabus and find the talk I want and then print it.  Oh well.

*  Edited the CVGS newsletter and the Blogging handout for SOCCGS and sent the latter to David.

*  Researched and wrote SuperSearch Matches on MyHeritage.com.

*  Gathered the CVGS newsletter publishing bag and went off at 2:20 p.m. for the UPS Store and made the 40 copies, mailed 25 of them.  Then to the bank and Rite Aid for a Mother's Day card for Linda and couldn't find a stapler to buy.  Our good stapler has been lost...

*  Checked Facebook, Google+, and printed off the rest of the NGS handouts.  Have a stack over 1.5 inches thick with no staples.

*  Did some chores, and we packed up and left at 5 p.m. for the Black Angus for dinner, the trolley to Petco, and were in our seats by 6:40 for the 7:10 p.m. Padres game.  Pads won 5-0 over the Marlins.  Now 14-18 overall, 7-8 at home, 7-10 on the road.  We've won 9 of the last 12 to overcome the 5-15 start.

*  Home by 10:40 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and write this post.

I will be at NGS 2013 in Las Vegas until we return on Sunday, so this blog will probably be dormant until then.  I will try to have material from NGS on Genea-Musings, assuming I can get wi-0fi in the hotel lobby (it costs like $11 in the room).

My Genealogy Friday - 3 May 2013

It was an all-genealogy day up until dinner time...then Tami and the grandgirls came to visit.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Follow-Up Friday - Interesting Reader Comments on Genea-Musings Posts.

*  Wrote My Target NGS 2013 Conference Sessions - Thursday, May 9 and two more to finish the week, then wrote two Surname Saturday posts and two other posts for next week.

*  Answered email, and worked on the Woolley family in Massachusetts - found an NEHGR article about the family and sourced the data in my database.

*  Wrote Q&A About MyHeritage Census Records and Record Matches and then the SNGF post because we'll be busy on Saturday with the girls.

*  Read a bit, almost dozed at the keyboard, watered the front yard, started trimming the front lawn but ran out of weed eater cord.  Rats.

*  Tami called, and we met them at Lolita's for dinner.  Haven't seen the girls for five weeks, seems like they've grown.  Audrey turned 5 last week.

*  Home by 6:30 p.m. to play with the girls, got them set up with the TV, then watched the Padres game.  Got Lolo into the shower, and both ready for bed at 8:30 p.m.  Two books, four strawberries, one bandaid, two potty calls, some singing and talking, and they finally passed out before 10.

*  Pads won 7-6 over D-backs, now 12-17, 6-7 at home, 6-10 on the road.  Checked email, blogs, Facebook while watching the end of the game.  Wrote this post.

My Genealogy Thursday - 2 May 2013

Second day of May - it hit 96 F here on my weather station in Chula Vista.  Stayed home and worked on genealogy.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - 1870 U.S. Census Record for Henry White Family and one for next week also.

*  Worked in MyHeritage for quite a while - got the S-L tree synced to the second MH site, and tried to restore the big tree in FTB with no success.

*  Wrote My Target NGS 2013 Conference Sessions - Wednesday, 8 May and went in for lunch and watched the Padres game.  We won 4-2 over the Cubs, so now 11-17.

*  Online at 2 p.m., Wrote three blog posts on http://cvgencafe.blogspot.com and posted one as CVGS Program Summary - "Searching Ancestry.com Effectively."

*  Answered email, checked Facebook, read the new online book, and called for dinner.  Watched the news until 6, did my chores, and back online.

*  Online at 6:15 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and worked on the CVGS Newsletter.  90% done - just need the May program article.

*  Checked Facebook and Google+, watched one of Tanner's webcasts, and worked on Seaver in the Michigan Death Certs (got through #40 of 124).  Added sources and content.

*  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 11.0 hours.

My Genealogy Wednesday - 1 May 2013

The first of May.  I backed up some files last night to the external drive, and will do more tonight.

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Post 254: Devier J. Smith in Concordia, Kansas, 1885 and another one for next week.

*  Got the MyHeritage news notice about the census records, and wrote MyHeritage Adds 1790 to 1930 United States Census Records.  Worked in MyHeritage to gather screens for the next post.

*  Had lunch, left at 11:30 a.m. for the bank and the library for the CVGS Board meeting.  Left at 2:15 p.m.

*  Home by 2:30 p.m. to read, then wrote Using MyHeritage Record Matches for 1900 U.S. Census Records.

*  Checked Facebook and Google+ and answered some email.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch the Padres game, eat dinner, read the paper and my book, and did my chores.  Pads lost 6-2 to the Cubs, so now 10-17.

*  Online at 8 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and then started the May CVGS Newsletter.  Got two pages done, and need to do more tomorrow.

*  Fiddled around in MyHeritage.  Decided to dump my "new" database because it caused problems.  Tried to create a new project and sync it to the existing big tree on MyHeritage and the damn thing wouldn't work.  No clue what to do.  Read the manual and it didn't help much.  Shoot. Wasted 45 minutes.

*  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.
