*  Home at 11 a.m. to work on the Geni.com has Royal Family in its Database post.  Had to figure out why their Charlemagne to William was different from the others.  Had lunch.

*  Worked for awhile in WikiTree merging persons and searching for my ancestors in other people's tree.  Sent several Trusted List requests.  Also worked in WeRelate looking for Prince William's ancestry.  Answered some email.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to read the paper, watch TV news and eat dinner.  Back at 5:45 p.m. to write a post for Friday.

*  Left at 6:15 p.m. for the airport to pick up Lori and the boys.  We were back by 7:30 and played a little soccer in the back yard, then a walk around the block.  They have a lot of energy.  I was pooped.  Got them snacks, watched TV, put Logan down at 9, Lucas is still awake at 10.

*  Tami called at 4:30 p.m. to report she was on her way to the ER with a bad ankle sprain or fracture.  Ouch!  Been there, done that.  We agree to meet James in Temecula to transfer the girls to us for the week.  Got there by 6, listened to the Padres game (they lost 1-0 to the Cubs), I took a nap waiting, and they came by 7 p.m.  We ate at In 'n Out, and were home by 9 p.m.  Linda got girls showered and dressed, and finally to bed by 9:45.

My genealogy day - 15 April 2011

This was the 5th anniversary of my escapade into genea-blogging - I guess I'm stuck with it, eh?

*  Read email and blogs, then researched and wrote 5th Birthday for Genea-Musings!!!

*  Worked in Geni.com for awhile, answered some emails, worked on my census source citations in RootsMagic, and did a little Maggie research.

My genealogy day - 14 April 2011

A good genealogy day - lots of online research = fun!!

*  Read email and blogs, then posted Treasure Chest Thursday - Isaac Seaver's Civil War Pension: War Department Folders.  Wrote and posted Is this William R. Seaver, son of the murdered William Seaver?

*  Got cleaned up, then made all entries on my Geni.com tree public before my grandparents generation.  Perhaps that will open some collaboration on Geni.com for me.

*  Worked on the FamilySearch presentation some more - got the new Forums screens in.  Wrote What is a Cenotaph? - see Graveyard Rabbit Online Journal.  Noted that CVGS Research Group Summary - 13 April 2011 posted.  Had lunch.

*  Wondered what to do next with some free time, so got Maggie's ancestry problem out and went to town on it.  Found her mother's family in San Mateo CA in 1930, 1920, 1910 and 1900 census records on Ancestry, death dates in CA Death indexes on VitalSearch and Rootsweb,  SF Chronicle on Footnote.com, then the UK marriage record in FreeBMD, 1881, 1861, 1851 and 1841 UK census records on FamilySearch for the line.  Got back three generations!

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, eat dinner.  Pads lost 1-0 to Houston (now 5-7 on the year - can't hit worth sh!t, but can pitch well!).

*  Back online at 8:15 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post.  Couldn't resist looking for more Maggie's info - found lots of matches in SFCall newspaper on the CDNC site, then more UK census records for the family, an Ancestry Member Tree (incomplete, stops at water's edge), and one more 1861 census record for her grandmother's family.  The FamilySearch censuses indexes really suck.  Will need to go to the FHC to capture the census pages. Wrote this post.

* Copied FamilySearch presentation and Genealogy 101 files to the flash drive and the laptop.  Had to print off six charts for the class.  Downloaded the 95 images of Isaac Seaver's Civil War Pension File from Picasa from Myrt.  Had lunch.

*  Wrote my Graveyard Rabbit Online Journal column and sent it off.  Started in on the Newspaper presentation for Wednesday and finished it and the handout for Wednesday.  Found that the Fulton History link didn't work, so posted Where is the Old Fulton County NY History Site?

*  Went in at 3:30 p.m. to read the paper, watch TV and take a nap.  We had dinner at 4:30, and I gathered my stuff up and went off to the library at 4:50 p.m. for the Genealogy 101 class.

*  Got the laptop set up, but had to call Gary to get the projector there.  Started class on time with introductions and the projector came at 5:45 p.m. and I presented the first class to 15 eager students.

*  Home by 8 p.m. to watch the Padres game - eventually lost in 11 innings 8-2 to the Reds.  Arghhh.  What a terrible home stand (now 4-6, and 2-5 at home).   on the season.

*  Read everything, added to the Best Of blog post, and wrote this post.  Done!  Tired.

Genealogy on Tuesday was 11.0 hours - 0.5 hour doing email, 1.0 hour reading blogs, 2.5 hours writing blog posts, 4.0 hours on Genealogy 101 class, 1.0 hour on GYROJ article, and 2.0 hours on Newspapers presentation for Wednesday.

My family history days - 9 and 10 April 2011

I missed journaling on Saturday, so will do two days tonight.

Saturday, 9 April 2011:

*  Read email and blogs, got cleaned up, wrote Surname Saturday - WILHELM (Germany? > Pennsylvania) post, gathered up my bookbag and off at 9 a.m.

*  Got to the SDGS meeting at 9:40 a.m., talked to colleagues, several OASIS class grads, then enjoyed two talks by Paul Lipinski.

*  Home by 1 p.m. to read, noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - You Might be a Genealogist if ... posted, and worked on the FamilySearch presentation.

*  We left at 3:15 p.m. on the trolley for Petco Park.  Stopped at Tin Fish for dinner, then watched last 3 innings of the Friday rained suspended game (lost 4-2 in 11 innings to dodgers), then the regular game (we lost 4-0).  It was cold but not wet... we left in the 7th inning and were home by 11 p.m.

*  Read quickly, added to Best Of post, and off to bed to warm up.

Genealogy today was 6.5 hours - 0.5 hour doing email, 0.5 hour reading blogs, 0.5 hour writing blogs, 3.0 hours at SDGS meeting, and 2.0 hours working on FamilySearch presentation and handout.

Sunday, 10 April 2011:

*  Finished up the Best Of post, got cleaned up, and off to church at 9:25 a.m.  Talked to Margaret about her parents - I had found them but wanted to confirm before I went further.  Good!

*  Home by 11:30 a.m. to do chores to prepare for family dinner today, noted that Best of the Genea-Blogs - 3 to 9 April 2011 posted.  Had lunch, watched Padres game (they won 7-2, now 4-4 record, 26-27 runs for/against).

*  Tami and family came at 1:30 and Stan, Holly, Sheryl, and Scott and his family came by 2:15 p.m.  We sat around and talked, watched the four kids play together well, had a wonderful dinner, talked more, told stories, etc.  That was fun!  They were gone by 8 p.m.  Got the dishes done and the chairs stacked, whew!

*  Online at 8:45 p.m. to read, start the Best Of post, and then work on the CVGS Newsletter due to publish on Monday.  Checked Facebook, wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 3.5 hours - 0.5 hour doing email, 1.0 hour reading blogs, 0.5 hour writing blogs, and 1.5 hours working on CVGS newsletter.

My genealogy day - 8 April 2011

Another pretty full genealogy day...

*  Read email and blogs, then put Some Records for the William Seaver Family Members together.  Had to make several edits because of problems with copying from RootsMagic.  Drat.

*  Read more, then wrote Dear Randy: How do you enter Scandinavian farm names in your database? and set it for later.  Answered several emails.

*  Had lunch, and went out to trim the back yard lawn before the rains came.  Back online at 1:30 p.m. to read, then work on the FamilySearch presentation some more - added several charts, and started on the handout.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. for dinner, then watched TV news and read the paper.

*  Came in at 7 p.m. for Geneabloggers Radio show - good interviews with Josh Taylor and Heather Rojo - didn't hear Diane Rapaport, because at 8 p.m. went in to watch WDYTYA - the Ashley Judd episode.  Pretty good, she seemed really into the search, and the stories.

*  Padres game was in a rain delay at 9 p.m., so came online and read, added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and write this post.

Genealogy today was 9.5 hours - 1.0 hour doing email, 1.0 hour reading blogs, 2.5 hours writing blog posts, 1.0 hour on Geneabloggers Radio, 1.0 hour for WDYTYA and 3.0 hours on FamilySearch presentation.

My genealogy day - 7 April 2011

Finished several projects today, and had some interesting genealogy finds.

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Isaac Seaver's Civil War Pension File: Surgeon's Report in 1900.    Quickly worked on the Civil War Draft Registration database, then posted Isaac Seaver's Civil War Draft Registration Record.

*  Got cleaned up, and came back to read and then to work on the FamilySearch presentation.  Had lunch, then went out at 12:30 to mow the back weeds.  Back in at 1:30 to read and get ready for telecon.

*  Spoke to Ancestry.com folks about secret project... I would tell you but they might shoot me.  Started back on the FamilySearch presentation and forgot all about the Geneabloggers Radio show at 3 p.m.  Drat.  Almost finished with the FamilySearch work, though.  Need to make the handout now!  Whew.

*  Went in at 5:45 p.m. to have dinner, then did chores and watched TV news while reading the paper.

*  Back online at 7:15 p.m. to read, then started on CVGS Newsletter.  Got it 50% done - need content from contributors who always miss deadlines.

*  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post and wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 11.5 hours - 1.0 hour doing email, 1.0 hour reading blogs, 2.0 hours writing blog posts, 1.5 hours on Ancestry databases and telecon, 4.0 hours on FamilySearch presentation and 2.0 hours on CVGS Newsletter.

My genealogy day - 6 April 2011

It was a full day, but not all genealogy.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Post 147: Carringer House Framing in 1951.  Wrote SDGS Program on Saturday, 9 April features Paul Lipinski and set it for later, and then got cleaned up.

*  Reviewed Mundia.com again, then wrote Another look at Mundia.com - FAIL! after I couldn't get things to work.  A waste of time.  Set it to post in early afternoon.  Had lunch.

*  Gathered my papers and off to the library at 11:30 a.m. for the CVGS Board meeting.  Lasted to 2 p.m., and home by 2:20 p.m. to read.  Then out to mow the front lawn before the rain on Thursday.

*  In at 3:30 to watch the Padres game - they lost 8-4 to the Giants (now 3-2 on season, 23-17 in runs scored).  We had dinner, read newspaper, and put trash out.

*  Back online at 6:45 p.m. to read, then worked on FamilySearch presentation for next weekend.  Got it about 60% complete now.  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, filled out the GeniMates form, and wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 9.0 hours - 1.0 hour doing email, 1.0 hour reading blogs, 2.5 hours writing blog posts, 2.5 hours working on FamilySearch presentation, and 2.0 hours at CVGS meeting.

My genealogy day - 5 April 2011

There's nothing like a baseball opening day in all of sports, is there?  The Padres first home game was today, and we went this afternoon.  Genealogy?  Some!

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote Tuesday's Tip - Use Barbara Renick's ZRoots Site.   Got cleaned up.  Pondered what else to write, and decided to write Clues for the Ancestry of murder victim, William Seaver.

*  Decided to check some databases for William Seaver, Martha and the children too.  Found some helpful city directory information on Footnote, then found 1860 and 1870 census data for some of them.  Will report on that in later posts.

*  Had lunch, and back to research - that's fun!  Got through Footnote, Ancestry, GenealogyBank and WorldVitalRecords without finding much more.

*  Went in at 1:30 p.m. to load up the Padres bag, and we left at 1:45 for the trolley.  Linda took her walker.  We got to Petco Park by 2:45 p.m., and found our seats.  Had to buy first game seats, even though the season plan we bought included the first game, but they ran out of tickets in our price class.  So they sold us remainder seats - right in back of home plate, second level, just below the radio/TV booths!  Great seats, but we had to sit three seats from each other.  Only had one foul ball in the area - the only guy with a glove caught it.  In-seat beverage and food service was available, but spotty.  The tickets cost three times our normal seat cost.  Oh, the Padres won 3-1 in a close game over the Giants (now 3-1, scored 19-9 in 4 games).

*  The ride home on the trolley was a zoo.  Linda was able to get uploaded on her walker to the front car, and I managed to squeeze in the next door down and stood the whole way back.  The first four stops it was cheek to cheek.  Reminded me of New York City.  We were home by 7:30 p.m.

*  Went online to read, then added to the Best Of post, and started in on the FamilySearch presentation for two weeks from now at CGSSD.  I have to create a new presentation since the one from last July is obsolete!  Got most of the slide headers and footers edited, now just have to add content.

*  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 8.0 hours - 0.5 hour doing email, 1.0 hour reading blogs, 2.0 hours writing blog posts, 2.5 hours doing online research for the William Seaver family, and 2.0 hours working on the FamilySearch presentation.

My genealogy day - 4 April 2011

It was a stay-at-home genealogy day, with a short trip to the bank and the basketball game tonight to interrupt the train of thought.

*  Read my email and blogs, and wrote Amanuensis Monday - Will of Thomas Read (1627-1701) of Sudbury MA before getting cleaned up.  Came back and wrote SCGS Genealogy Jamboree is only Two Months Away! and set it for later in the morning.  Wrote Paula Sassi on "Handwriting and History" on the CVGS blog.

*  Had lunch at home, then went off to the bank to order checks and get money.  Home by 1 p.m. to read, then worked on my FORUM article due last week.  Finished it and submitted it to the editor.

*  Thought about the MyHeritage article, and realized it was wrong, so wrote Pink or Blue? Does it Matter? I say No!  Then worked on and wrote New Research Courses on the FamilySearch Learning Site.

*  Went i n at 5 p.m. to watch TV news, read the paper, have dinner, and watch the NCAA Championship game, Butler vs. Connecticut.  Rooted for Butler, but they lost badly due to poor shooting and rebounding.

*  Back online at 8:30 p.m. to read, then added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and worked on the first two CVGS Genealogy 101 class presentations again.  Those are done now.  Wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 9.5 hours - 0.5 hour doing email, 1.5 hour reading blogs, 3.0 hours writing 6 blog posts, 0.5 hour on FamilySearch site, 2.5 hours working on FORUM column, and 1.5 hours working on CVGS Genealogy 101.

My genealogy day - 3 April 2011

An interesting day, with some genealogy mixed in.

*  Read email and blogs, and finalized the Best Of post, got cleaned up and off to church at 9:15 a.m. for my Gifts committee meeting.

*  Went to lunch with Maggie and Paul at the Galley after church.  Talked quite a bit about Maggie's ancestry with Paul, who wants to start doing research.  He has his father's line back into Sweden, but knows little about his mother's line.

*  Home by 1:30 p.m. and the Padres game was over - lost 2-0 to St. Louis (now 2-1 on season, 16-8 runs scored).   Noticed that Best of the Genea-Blogs - 27 March to 2 April 2011 posted.

*  Read everything, then worked on the taxes and e-filed them.  Worked on financial stuff too, then answered several emails - got 3 more speaking gigs lined up.  Opened RootsMagic and grabbed my to-source pile of papers and started.  Didn't get too far!

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to have dinner, then read the paper and watched TV.

*  Back online at 6:30 p.m. to read, then work a bit more in the database.  Recalled that I had not sent the genealogy report to my friend Ed's relatives, so I did more online research in census records and added more data to the Murdock file.  Created a 10-generation ancestors report and wrote the emails to send them to Ed's brother and a granddaughter.

*  Decided to work a bit on Maggie's line - found Paul's birth record with Maggie's maiden name, then think I found Maggie's birth record and 1920 and 1930 census records.  Have more leads, but need to confirm that her folks were Carl and Margaret.  Fun!!

*  Started next week's Best Of post, checked Facebook and wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 6.0 hours - 1.0 hour doing email, 1.0 hour reading blogs, 1.0 hour writing blogs, and 3.0 hours doing online research for Ed and Maggie's lines.

My genealogy day - 2 April 2011

It was an interesting, and full, genealogy day.

*  Quickly read my email and blogs before getting cleaned up and rushing off to my Men's breakfast at 8 a.m., then to Bonita for the CVGS Seminar at the library there.  Stopped at Von's for a box of cookies to share, and walked in the door of the library at 9:30 a.m.  Helped set up tables and chairs, got my laptop set up in the back near a plug, and chatted with friends.  Noted that Surname Saturday - VON ERNEST (Germany to Pennsylvania) posted.

*  Program started at 10 a.m., Gary had a computer crash last night and had to reconstitute one of the presentations.  Del Stevens talked about insurance papers, and it turns out that almost everything is confidential - the companies won't disclose anything without legal paper.  The best chance to obtain information from them is if they are found in family papers.

*  Lunch was supposed to be at the hot dog stand, but they ran out of hot dogs as I got there to order, so scarfed the free food in the seminar.  Noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - the 1940 US Census

posted.  Managed to tweet SNGF before the next session.

*  The second session was Mike Murphy on Wills, codicils and other legal things.  He described the present day probate process using legal forms and the like - takes all the fun out them!  He went through many of the items to be decided in the process.  This was over at 2:30 p.m., and I helped put the chairs and tables away.

*  Home by 3:15 p.m. to watch the end of the Padres game - beat St. Louis 11-3 today.  Then watched the Butler/VCU game and we ate dinner.

*  Came in at 5:30 p.m. to read everything, answer emails, check Facebook, made a GEDCOM and uploaded it to FTM 2011, then edited the "estimated birth date" sources to be in Birth Notes rather than Birth Sources.  Even added some data to the database from my to-do pile.

*  Added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Need to work on the recent photos from the digital cameras now.

Genealogy today was 10.0 hours - 0.5 hour doing email, 1.0 hour reading blogs, 0.5 hour writing blog posts, 5.0 hours at CVGS Seminar, and 3.0 hours working in the database.

My genealogy days - 31 March and 1 April 2011

These days were dominated by family - the grandgirls were here but left for home tonight with their mother.

Thursday, 31 March 2011:

*  Managed to read my email and blogs after feeding and playing with the girls until their mother arose from her slumber.  They went off to Legoland at 9:15 a.m., and it was quiet in the genea-castle for most of the day.

*  Noted that William Seaver's Murder in 1821 - the 1866 Confession - Post 1 posted, worked a bit in WikiTree, and then wrote Exploring WikiTree- Post 11: A Better Way to Merge Profiles and set it for early afternoon.

*  Got cleaned up, had a quick lunch, and went off to the store for groceries, then to Home Depot for bee spray.  Got home at 1 p.m. and shot the bee nests out of the eaves, just in time for the Padres game on TV.

*  Watched my Padres beat the Cardinals 5-3 in 11 innings, and the family came home at the last out.  They rested for a bit, and I entertained the girls some, then we went to Lolita's for dinner on their patio.

*  Home by 7 p.m., took the girls out back to see the sun go down and blow/chase bubbles, and fill the bird feeder.  Then bathed, dressed, read to and put them down for the night.  Not a peep - they walked a lot today!

*  Finally had time on the computer to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook and write a post for Friday morning.

Genealogy on Thursday was 4.0 hours - 0.5 hour doing email, 1.0 hour reading blogs, 0.5 hour on WikiTree, and 2.0 hours writing blog posts.

Friday, 1 April:

*  Finally read email and blogs after the girls were fed, dressed, entertained and out the door at 10 a.m. to go shopping.  Noted that William Seaver's Murder in 1821 - the 1866 Confession: Part 2 posted.

*  Left at 11:15 a.m. to go to Costco for lunch and printer ink (no Lexmark there!), then picked up George for our walk on the bayfront in 75F sun, then to Best Buy for printer ink (stopped carrying Lexmark), and Office Depot (they had it.  Whew!).  Home by 1:15 p.m.

*  Everybody was napping, so I wrote Do We Need a Genealogy Tea Party? and New or Updated FamilySearch Historical Collections in March.

*  Girls finally up at 3:45 p.m., and we left at 4:30 to go to John's Incredible Pizza in Plaza Bonita which is a bigger and better Chucky Cheese.  More expensive too.  Ate dinner, the girls played game,s and we left at 6 p.m.  Tami and the girls were going home.

*  Got home at 6:30 to read everything, then listen to the first hour of Geneabloggers Radio, watched WDYTYA the next hour (I really enjoyed the Gwyneth Paltrow episode - lots of research documents and worknig oyut situations).

*  Read, added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, then wrote two posts for Saturday because I'll be at the CVGS Seminar most of the day.  Wrote this post.

Genealogy on Friday was 7.0 hours - 0.5 hour doing email, 1.0 hour reading blogs, 1.0 hour in FamilySearch, 2.5 hours writing blog posts, 1.0 hour on Geneabloggers Radio, and 1.0 hour on WDYTYA.
