Genealogy Journal - Wednesday, 30 September 2020

Goodbye September, hello October!  A hot day today, high of about 95F here in Chula Vista.  Hardly went outside.

*  Someone forgot to post a News Bytes post yesterday, and forgot to write a Wordless Wednesday last night.  Remembered at about 9 a.m. this morning.  Oh well.  Is dementia catching?

*  Wrote Papa Lee, Lori and Tami at the Zoo -- Post 637 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and Dear Randy: "How Do You Match and Update FamilySearch Family Tree Profiles?" and prepped for the Zoom meeting.

*  Had lunch, added to the Best Of post, checked emails, and got into the CVGS Zoom meeting at 11:40 a.m. as host.  We had 28 attendees for Colin Whitney's talk on his Nicholas ancestors in Wales.  It was over at 1:45 p.m.

*  Went in before 2 p.m. to watch the Padres game.  Read the paper, then used the laptop.  Pads fell to the Cards 7-4 in the first wild card game.  Drat.

*  Had dinner during the game, and it was over at 6 p.m.  Put out the trash, watered the roses, and washed dishes.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, write the Treasure Chest post, and resolved 131 Ancestry Hints.  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

Genea-journal - Monday, 14 September 2020

The sky is still partly cloudy and hazy here, but gray rather than orange since we haven't had a bad fire yet.  There are still several months of fire season left.  Chargers won on Sunday, Padres won on Thursday and Sunday and tonight.  Pennant fever raises its welcome head!  It might be fun!

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Amanuensis Monday -- 1728 Bond and Distribution of Estate of John Fisher (1652-1727) of Medfield, Mass. posted, and got into Mondays With Myrt.  Didn't contribute a lot.

Genea-Journal - Saturday, 12 September 2020

Today was grandson Charlie's 6th birthday.  He went surfing, ate tacos, and received gifts, and his sister made a beautiful birthday cake for him.  I don't remember my 6th birthday, but I know I didn't go surfing, and probably was spoiled by my parents and grandparents.

*  Read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post and noted that Added and Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 5 to 11 September 2020 and Added and Updated Ancestry.com Record Collections - Week of 5 to 11 September 2020 posted.

*  Wrote the SNGF post - took awhile trying to figure out the house and room dimensions!  Google Maps helped.  48' by 36' I think.

*  Had lunch, checked AncestryDNA matches (only 7 new), and noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - What Was Your Childhood Home Like? posted.  Started the laundry.

*  Answered email, added to the Best Of post, worked a bit in FamilySearch Family Tree and RootsMagic WebHints, then checked Facebook and Twitter.  Wrote a post for Sunday morning.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to fix dinner, read the paper, watched TV, finished the laundry, etc.  No Padres game tonight because of a Giants player with COVID.  Called Charlie at 6:45 to wish him happy birthday.  Great pix on Facebook.

Genea-Journal - Thursday, 10 September 2020

My grandson Lucas Randall is 17 years old today.  Time sure flies!  Forgot to post yesterday after the Padres game.  Oh well.  It was a medium day here - clouds/haze all day, a high of 77F, so pretty average.  The fire in the back country is contained for now.  Decided to use the new Blogger finally - wastes too much screen.  Probably great for tablets and smart phones.

*  Read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post and noted that Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1771 Death Record of Mehitabel (Hartshorn) Guild of Dedham, Mass. posted.

*  Checked AncestryDNA matches, only 7 new matches, no new common ancestors or close matches.

*  Struggled to get my credit card statements - had to go through the new password stuff, it took an hour.  Crap.  Tried to nap but don't think I did.

*  Had lunch, added to the Best Of post, and wrote Seavers in The News - Fred M. Seaver Dies in 1941 in Lake Mills, Wisconsin.  Added content from other Seaver obituaries for 1939-1941 births.

*  Checked Twitter and Facebook, and answered email.  Worked on and wrote the 52 Ancestors post.

*  Went in at 5:15 to cook dinner, watched TV news, and then the Padres game.  Read the paper, my book, and then email, blogs, Facebook and Photos on the laptop.  Padres won 6-1 over Giants, so now 29-17 on the season, 5 in a row, and 18-5 since mid-August.

*  Online to read, resolve some Ancestry Hints, and write this post.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

Genea-Journal - Tuesday, 8 September 2020

It's been 8 days since my last post - the Padres have been winning but the games last late, so I rarely get to the computer until 10 p.m. and it's time for bed.  Lori and the boys and cats left last Saturday and we are gradually adjusting to normalcy again.  Laundry was an issue!

*  Read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and noted that Tombstone Tuesday --John Paine (1661-1731) in Orleans Cemetery in Orleans, Mass. posted.  Added two new ThruLines to RootsMagic and notes for 5 matches on AncestryDNA.

*  Took a nap at 11 a.m.  Had lunch, added to the Best Of post, and wrote Genealogy News and Education Bytes - Tuesday, 8 September 2020.  Worked for awhile in FamilySearch Family Tree matching profiles to RootsMagic.

*  Checked Twitter and Facebook, then answered email and added to the Best Of post.   Wrote the Wordless Wednesday post.

*  Worked for awhile trying to recover all of my Downloads file folder without success.  Have about 50% of it now.  It got messed up yesterday when I clicked something and the Downloads folder was added to Dropbox on the desktop, then deleted.  Tried to recover it using the Recycle Bin but it wasn't all there.  Crap.  Who knows what I lost.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to cook dinner, watch TV news, and watched the Padres game.  Read the paper, read my book, and checked Dropbox on the laptop.  The Downloads folder was added to it on the laptop and now I was over the limit.  Padres beat the Rockies 14-5 so that was good.  Now 27-17 on the season.

*  Wrote this post, checked Facebook and done tonight.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.
