My Genealogy Sunday - 31 December 2017

Well, this is it for 2017.  An interesting year in many ways.  Genealogy wise - it was a year of no major ancestral discoveries, but a lot of little ones.  This was not a big genealogy day.

*  Read email and blogs while watching Meet the Depressed.  They were.  Went off to church at 9:30 a.m. and home by 11:20.

*  Transcribed the two probate record pages for Amanuensis Monday.  Noted that Randy's Best Genea-Musings Posts for 2017 posted.

*  Went in at 12:30 p.m. to eat lunch, and watched football, and read the paper.  Watched the Chargers game - they beat Oakland 30-10 in hopes of a playoff berth - they finished 9-7.  However, none of the three things that had to happen did, so they didn't make the playoffs.  Oh well.

*  Online at 4:45 to read, and proofread the transcription.  Noted that Best of the Genea-Blogs - 24 to 30 December 2017 posted.

*  Went in at 5:15 to watch TV news, finish up cooking and eat dinner, then washed dishes.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, noted that Added or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 24 to 30 December 2017 posted, then wrote the Happy New Year post and the Amanuensis Monday post.

*  Went in at 8:15 to watch the ball drop at 9 p.m. and read my book.  Boring - the ball drop, not the Patterson book.

*  Online at 9:05 p.m. to check Facebook, then wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 4.0 hours.

My Genealogy Thursday - 14 December 2017

This was not much of a genealogy day.  Only two blog posts for the 4th day in a row.  I wonder if anybody cares?  It's given me more time to do what I need to do.  We finished the Christmas card flurry today.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y at 7:30, home to read email and blogs, picked her up at 9, home at 9:15, and we left at 9:40 for her neuro appointment.  The doc says she has not lost much since last time.  It's hard to tell.  She almost aced the memory test.  She still can't get the three words mentioned a minute before.  We dropped the first 50 cards at the post office, and stopped at the 99 Cent store to get more cards, wrapping paper, canned vegetables and more.

*  Home by 11 a.m. and noted that 1760 Death Records of Jabez and Elizabeth Snow in Eastham, Mass. --- Post 394 of Treasure Chest Thursday posted.  Added to the Best Of post.  Answered email.  Took a nap.

*  Had lunch, then online at 1 p.m to write Seavers in the News - William H. Seaver Dies in 1896 in Allston, Mass.

*  Printed off more Christmas letters and folded them.  Linda finished the list this afternoon and evening.  30 more cards to mail on Friday.  I did some shopping - she found a catalog and checked some clothes that she liked.

*  Checked Twitter and Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and forgot to look at the 52 Ancestors guy for records.  Oops.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. for dinner, read the paper, watched TV news, and washed dishes.

*  Online at 6:45 p.m. to read, then worked on the 52 Ancestors profile.  Found I had not added probate records to the profile, so found them and extracted information for the profile.  I will transcribe the probate records for Monday, then add them to the profile later.

*  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

*  Noted that Photos from the 2013 SCGS Genealogy Jamboree - Part 3 -- Post 494 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted, and added to the Best Of post.  I took a short eyerest, not a nap.

*  We left at 10:45 for the CVGS luncheon at the South library.  Had about 30, several were sick.  I ate a lot.  We got home by 2 p.m.

*  Worked on the Christmas letter printing - got the second page of the 55 I did yesterday, and printed off about 30 more of the first page, I'll do the second page tomorrow (the ink has to dry).  Linda started labeling, stamping, and signing last night, and I folded the first batch of letters - we did about 40 cards tonight.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV news, put out the trash, and wash dishes.  Online at 7 p.m. to read, write the Treasure Chest post, and work on the cards.

My Genealogy Tuesday - 12 December 2017

This was not much of a genealogy day - life events took over the day.  But I made some progress on them.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read email and blogs, picked her up and home by 9:15 a.m.  Added to the Best Of post and noted that Treasure Chest Tuesday - 1841 Bounty Immigrant Arrival in New South Wales Card for Alexander Whittell posted.

*  Answered email, then wrote Genealogy News Bytes - 12 December 2017.

*  Started on the Christmas letter and the labels.  Linda checked the addresses, and I made some Facebook contacts for some of them.  Sent the girls their paragraphs and they edited them tonight.  Had a struggle to find good photos of family groups - I did a poor job this year of getting grandkid photos.  Drat.  Linda got some of the envelopes stamped and labeled and is waiting for letters and labels.

*  Checked Twitter and Facebook, but did nothing genealogy wise.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to eat dinner, read the paper, watch TV news, and did the dishes.  Finished the laundry too.

*  Added to the Best Of post, and wrote the Wordless post.  Edited the letter, and started printing off the first page, but the printer ink had to be replaced, the print heads cleaned, etc.  Ended up with about 50 of the first page.  They need to dry out overnight.

*  Checked Facebook and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 4.5 hours.

My Genealogy Monday - 11 December 2017

It was an 81F day here, clear and sunny.  Should be down in the 40s tonight.  It's almost winter, and two weeks until Christmas.  I keep reminding myself to shop.  Only 20 more days until 2018.

* Dropped Linda off at the Y by 7:30, home to read email and blogs, picked her up and we were home by 9 a.m.

*  Got onto Mondays With Myrt and didn't pontificate much - a bit on the fires, a bit on Tony's program, and that was it.   Noted that Amanuensis Monday - 1749 Guardianship of Isaac Brown and John Brown in Eastham, Massachusetts posted.  Took my nap.

*  Had lunch, and online at 12:45 p.m. to print off the newsletter master and the labels.  Added to the Best of post, and answered email.  Wrote Monday Genea-Pourri - 11 December 2017.

*  Linda went with me to the UPS Store, but got her nails done down the mall.  I finished up my CVGS newsletter printing and mailing, and had an ice cream cone at McDonalds while I waited.

*  Home by 3 p.m. to read, then checked Twitter and Facebook, and worked on Lauretta's question.  Got it done, and called her, she was happy.  She'll be surprised by the package I'm sending.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV news, eat dinner, read the paper, and wash dishes.

*  Online at 6 p.m. to read, then wrote the Treasure Chest post for Tuesday, and did more shopping for Linda.  Got her a couple of things on amazon, but the really pretty teal top eludes me.  She does have a closet full of them.  Maybe I'll just wrap one of them up... More packages for the kids and Linda came today.

*  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

My Genealogy Thursday - 7 December 2017

This was an all genealogy day, but it was somewhat frustrating.  I didn't do the Bible study work, and I spun my wheels tonight trying to find a record on FamilySearch.  Drat.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read email and blogs, picked her up, and we went to the grocery store.

Noted that Surname Saturday -- LNU (Katherine who married Thomas Read, England to colonial New England) posted, then added to the Best Of post.

*  Wrote the SNGF post and had fun doing it.  Good memories. Tried matching RootsMagic profiles with FS Family Tree, and discovered a 16th century Bradstreet profile that is not in any book.  He has the same name as his father, married a woman with the same first name, and it looks like he died the same day as his father in the same place.  I think the son is a phantom.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, picked her up and we went to the grocery store.  Home by 9:50 a.m.

*  Noted that Treasure Chest Tuesday -- 1806 Marriage Record of Thomas Morley and Jane Bury in Bolton-le-Moors, Lancashire posted, and wrote   MyHeritage Adds New York Newspapers and Marriage License Records.  Rested my eyes for 30 minutes.

*  We left at 11:15 a.m. for Carlsbad, and got to In 'n' Out by 12:05 p.m.  Waited for Tami's family to get there around 12:30.  Had lunch, talked to the kids some, and we left at 1:30 to head home.  It's not enough time to spend quiet time with each of them, and listen to their life experiences.  I wish we had gone up to Huntington Beach for the night.  A lesson learned.

*  We got home by 2:10 p.m., and I read, added to the Best Of post, and wrote Genealogy News Bytes - 21 November 2017.  Answered email, and dozed a bit in my computer chair.

*  Online at 4:30 p.m. to read, then checked on Twitter and Facebook, and worked some in FamilySearch Family Tree.  We had soup and fruit for dinner, watched TV news and read the paper.

*  Online at 6:45 p.m. to read, then wrote the Wordless Wednesday post, and did more in FSFT matching people to my RootsMagic database and adding content to both.  I usually add more to the FSFT profiles, but sometimes that has more info than my RM profiles.

*  Went in at 8 p.m. to watch Finding Your Roots.  I really enjoyed it.  The DNA findings were crucial, and fascinating. After the big ancestor chart reveal, I knew that I was a cousin to both Gaby Hoffmann and Tea Leoni. I share Henry II (my 23rd great-grandfather) with Gaby, and Charlemagne (my 39th great-grandfather) with Tea. They are both in my RootsMagic database along with my line from them. I told Linda that they were my cousins...and she said "wow, how do you know that?" I said "research over 30 years..." and "almost anyone with European ancestry is a descendant of Charlemagne, and almost anyone with English ancestry is a descendants of royals."  I was disappointed that they didn't show Tea's Leoni (I assume Italian ) line.  Not enough time.  Oh well.

*  Online at 9 p.m. to write something on Facebook, then write this post, and I will TreeShare.  Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.
