My Genealogy Day - 30 June 2014

Where does the time go?  The days seem to fly by - especially in the summer when there's a baseball game almost every day/night.  We're halfway to 2015.

*  Read email and blogs, and got ready for Mondays With Myrt.  Noted that Amanuensis Monday - Post 224: 1818 Inventory of John Able Property in Sussex County, New Jersey posted.

*  Mondays With Myrt was fun, with a number of subjects.  I talked a bit about the murder mystery series, and what I learned about life in 1858.

*  Answered email, and wrote The 1858 Murder Trial of Mortimer Seaver - Post 14: The Verdict Is In!

*  Finally was able to get into GEDMatch and see my matches, but the chromosome browser was down so I couldn't really compare with others.

*  Researched and wrote How Do I Cite Personal Knowledge and Oral, Written or Audio Interviews?

*  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and answered email.  Forgot to work on the handouts for SDGS.  Tomorrow!

*  We left at 4:30 p.m. for Costco, then to El Pollo Loco for dinner, to the trolley station, then walked to Petco, and in our seats by 6:45 p.m. for the Padres game at 7:10.  Pads won 1-0 over the Reds, so now 36-46 on the season and won 2 in a row.  Read email and blogs while waiting for the trolley.

*  Home by 11:10 p.m. to write this post.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

My Genealogy Weekend - 28 and 29 June 2014

It wasn't a real big genealogy weekend - real like interfered with doing a lot of research or writing.

1)  Saturday, 28 June 2014

*  Read email and blogs, then packed up and left at 9:40 a.m. for the FamilySearch Library in Mission Valley for the SDGS RootsMagic users group.  There were only 8, Larry led it, and I contributed a bit.  I spent some time adding content to Family Tree.

*  Home by 1:15 p.m. to read, noted that Surname Saturday - LNU (colonial New York?)  and  Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Summer Vacation as a Kid posted.

*  Worked a bit more in Family Tree before going in to watch soccer, read the paper, and take a nap.

*  We left at 4:30 p.m. for the trolley at Palomar, track torn up...single track to F Street, delayed us.  Got to Tin Fish by 5:45 p.m. had dinner with Judy and Dan, and in Petco Park by 6:30 p.m.  Got our fedora hats.  Pads lost 3-1 in another snoozer. now tied for 5th with Snakes.  I think we're 3-6 at Petco this year.

*  Home by 11:15 p.m. to read, but didn't journal.  Genealogy this day was 5.5 hours.

2) Sunday, 29 June 2014:

*  Read email and blogs, and finished up Best of the Genea-Blogs - 22 to 28 June 2014.  We went off to church at 9:15 a.m. and home by 11:30 a.m.  Watched tennis for awhile, then the Padres game, and read the paper and took a nap.  Pads won 2-1 over Snakes, so back in 4th place, now 35-47.

*  Online at 4 p.m. to read, wrote three posts on the Chula Vista Genealogy Cafe blog.  Answered some email.  Went in at 5:25 p.m. to eat dinner and watch TV news.

*  Online at 6:15 p.m. to read, work on the Amanuensis Monday post, then found another probate record in Sussex County NJ.  Wrote the Amanuensis Monday post.  Wrote Latest News From the Chula Vista Genealogical Society and answered several emails.

*  Worked in Ancestry adding sources and content for Auble folks.  also looked in AncestryDNA matches for several surnames.

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 6.5 hours.

My Geneaholic Friday - 27 June 2014

World War I started 100 years ago tomorrow.  It's been an amazing century since.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 26: #33 Abigail (Gates) Seaver (1797-1867) posted and transcribed more and wrote The 1858 Murder Trial of Mortimer Seaver - Post 13: Testimony Ends, Closing Arguments, and Judge's Charge and set it for later.

*  Worked in WikiTree on DNA and wrote WikiTree Populates the Unified Family Tree With My Y-DNA and mtDNA Results and set it form id-afternoon.

*  Feel like I wasted several hours reading Facebook, adding folks to Geni.com, etc.  Wrote the Surname Saturday post and checked FamilySearch Books for tomes for some of the ancestral surnames.  Found several for Norfolk County, Ontario.

*  Worked in the database for awhile, adding sources and media from downloaded vital records in RI and Mass.  Even found Donna's death notice on Tributes - gave me a birth and death date.  gotta check there more often.

*  Went in for dinner at 5 p.m. to watch TV news, then back online at 6 p.m. to read and write the SNGF post.

*  Went in at 7:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and then read my book.  Got the laptop out and had to reboot to get all of the kinks out of it.  Checked email and blogs.  Pads lost 2-1 to D-backs - did get 6 hits though.  Now 34-46.

*  Online at 9:45 p.m. to read, check Facebook and write this post.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

*  Worked in WikiTree doing the DNA attachment, and wrote WikiTree DNA Confirmation Aid Results and set it for afternoon after corresponding with them.  Noted that The 1858 Murder Trial of Mortimer Seaver - Post 12: The Defense Testimony Ends, and the Prosecution Rebuttal Testimony posted.

*  Worked for several hours adding content to the Family Tree presentation, and made the handout.  Now I need to practice and get the timing right.

*  Answered email, added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and did some searching in Mocavo.  Wrote the 52 Ancestors post for Friday.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch TV, eat dinner, and then mowed the front yard and watered.  Cooled off, and watched the Tony Gwynn memorial until 9 p.m.

My Geneaholic Wednesday - 25 June 2014

This was a very full genealogy day - the highlight being the CVGS picnic at the Brocks house.

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote After the Wedding at Gram and Gramps -- Post 313 for (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and Rabbit Trail - Where Was Aaron Seaver's Land in Grand Blanc, Michigan and set it for later.

*  We packed up and left for the picnic at 10:45 a.m.  Got there right at 11, and they had the tables set up under awnings and shades.  There were about 35 there.  We drank, talked with everyone, and ate lunch.  Hot dogs, brats, and hamburgers, beans, plus salads, fruit and desserts.  Great work!  Then there was sharing about ancestors who served in the military - about 15 shared.  Tacoma the horse made an appearance and some of us fed him carrots and apples.  What a beauty.

*  We were home by 3 p.m. and watched the 9th inning of the Padres game - Lincecum no-hit them again, and Giants won 4-0.  Now 34-45.

*  Online at 3:30 p.m. to read, check Facebook, answer email, and write Geni.com Relaxes Privacy Rules - A Good Thing.  Added James and Hannah (Rich) Richman to Geni.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to eat dinner and watch TV news.  Online again at 6:30 p.m. to read, then transcribed more from the murder trial, and added Seaver data to the database from Pennsylvania Death Certs 1906-1944.  Lots of good content and sources.  Need to do Carringer, Auble and Vaux also.  Checked the FS Family Tree Reference Guide.  added some things to the Links page.

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 11.5 hours.

It was a genealogy day, until I went to the airport at dinner time to pick up Linda.

*  Read emails and blogs, wrote Tuesday's Tip -- Watch Family Tree Webinars for Genealogy Education and then The 1858 Murder Trial of Mortimer Seaver - Post 11: Testimony of 12 More Defense Witnesses and set it for later.

*  Online at 10:15 p.m. to send an email, read blogs, check Facebook, and write this post.  Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

My Geneaholic Monday - 23 June 2014

Only 7 days left in June!  This was a genealogy day for me, and then my Padres won tonight in San Francisco with Linda at the game with her brother.

*  Read email and blogs, and noted that Amanuensis Monday - Post 223: Inventory of John Able (1780-1831) of Sussex County, New Jersey posted.

*  Got in the green room for Mondays With Myrt by 8:40 a.m. and we got started at 9.  It was going fine until the good father hijacked the broadcast for 30 minutes, and then Myrt lost her Internet and the broadcast ended automatically 10 minutes later.  Surprised us all.  Oh well.  Gave me some free time.

*  Wrote and posted FindMyPast Acquires Mocavo, Mocavo Provides Free U.S./ Census Indexes.  Wrote a post on the Chula Vista Genealogy Cafe blog too.

*  Wrote the SDGS program review and sent it off to Diane.  Answered some email.

*  Worked on the presentation for several hours and finally got to the end.  Not sure how much to keep or add in the middle.  I guess we'll see how it goes!

*  Noted that The 1858 Murder Trial of Mortimer Seaver - Post 10: More Defense Testimony posted.  Checked Facebook. Did some searching on Mocavo.  Tallied the Record Hints on FS Family Tree.  Found and saved some probate records for John Able in 1818 in New Jersey, and also for Phillip Row in 1817 in New Jersey.  Checked the other ancestors but found no more in the NJ collection.

*  Went in for dinner and to watch TV news.  Online at 5:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and did a whole panel of AMT Hints for Amy Oatley's ancestors.  Mostly R.I. vital records.  Saved them, renamed them.  Need to move them to the To Be Filed folder.

*  Went in at 7:15 p.m. to watch the Padres-Giants game.  Linda was there with her brother.  She called at 8:40 p.m. when we were ahead 3-0, and we won 6-0 in the best game of the year.  She wore Padres gear and rooted hard, i'm glad she survived!  Her brother was not happy, embarrassed.  But that's OK.  She'll be home tomorrow night.

*  Online at 10:15 p.m. to read, check Facebook, and write this post.  Genealogy today was 11.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Weekend - 21 and 22 June 2014

It was a fairly full genealogy weekend - more so on Sunday than Saturday.

1)  Saturday, 21 June 2014:

*  Read email and blogs, then off to the CGSSD meeting for the Ancestry.com SIG and Jamie Mayhew's land records talk.  Couldn't get the laptop to connect with Internet.  Bummer.

*  Home by 12:30 p.m. to read, noted that Surname Saturday - POILLON (Belgium > colonial New York) and Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Summertime Fun as a Child posted.

*  Worked a bit in the Mass VRs I downloaded previously, added sources, media and content to the database.

*  Went in at 4 p.m. and took a short nap, and we left at 4:40 p.m. for dinner at Black Angus, followed by Cold Stone for dessert.  Home by 6:45 p.m. to read.

*  Went in at 7:15 p.m. to watch the Padres game.  We lost again to Dodgers 4-2, so now 32-43 on the season.

*  Online at 10 p.m. to check Facebook, finish up to the Best Of post, and went to bed.  Genealogy this day was 7.0 hours.

2)  Sunday, 22 June 2014:

*  Read email, and we left at 8:15 a.m. to take Linda to the airport for her visit with Paul and Deb.  Home by 8:45 a.m. to read, and started work on the presentation.  Got quite a bit added, maybe it's too detailed though.  Drat.

*  Had lunch, noted that Best of the Genea-Blogs - 15 to 21 June 2014 posted, went in to watch the Padres game at 1:10 p.m., got a nap, read the paper, and Pads lost 2-1 to Dodgers, so 32-44 now.  Watched soccer game too, US almost beat Portugal in World Cup, tied 2-2.  Drat.  Had dinner, watered front yard.

*  Online at 6 p.m. to write two posts for Monday, then worked in MyHeritage - got the last 24 Find A Grave record matches done, and noted some SSDI ones still to do.  Then into Ancestry for awhile to add sources and contents in the H surnames.

*  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Genealogy this day was 8.0 hours.

Friday, June 20, 2014

My Geneaholic Friday - 20 June 2014

This was a full genealogy day, and fun too.  Then the Padres beat the Dodgers 6-5 so even a better day.

*  Read emails and blogs, noted that 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 25: #32, Benjamin Seaver (1791-1825) posted and transcribedm ore of the trial and posted The 1858 Murder Trial of Mortimer Seaver - Post 9: Defense Testimony About Rifles and Balls.  Wrote FamilySearch Family Tree "Record Hints" - Marking a Record "Not a Match" and set it for later.

*  After lunch, started working on the presentation and my phone buzzed telling me I had an appointment at the library with Kris in ten minutes.  I made it in 15...and had a great time discussing some of her brickwall problems and offering ideas for further research.  She's done an excellent job in 4 years of research from scratch, and is an excellent researcher who needs more experience in offline records like probate, land and church records.

*  Home by 3 p.m. to read, and wrote Information From FamilySearch about FamilySearch Family Tree Record Hints.  Then on to the presentation again - managed to add about 10 slides before the dinner call.

*  After dinner, spent about an hour writing the two Saturday posts.  Also approved merges on WikiTree and edited one profile to eliminate several maiden names of Mary (--?--) Fish, and make her name unknown.

*  Went in at 7:10 p.m. just in time for the Padres game, read the paper, and then my book.  Padres fell behind 5-1 after 5 innings, but won 6-5 with 3 runs in the 9th in walkoff fashion.  Won 3 in a row, now 32-42 on the year, but 6-12 in June so far.  A long way to go.

*  Online at 10:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, gloat on Facebook about the Pads, and write this post.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

Thursday, June 19, 2014

My Geneaholic Thursday - 19 June 2014

This was an all blogging genealogy day for me, and then the Padres game.

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 219: 1850 Census Record for Cornelius Feather and then transcribed more of the murder trial and wrote The 1858 Murder Trial of Mortimer Seaver - Post 8: Prosecution Rests, Defense Starts.

*  Wrote a future post about societies and beginners - didn't get it finished.  Researched and wrote  Ancestry.com Giveth, and Ancestry.com Taketh Away.

*  We left at 2:15 p.m. for El Pollo Loco to get dinner for Linda, then to the trolley station to go to the Padres game.  Got there at 3:30 p.m. for a 3:40 start - good timing!  I had a Filippi's pizza slice for dinner, and walked around the park 1.5 times to get an ice cream cone.  They shut down the stand near our section.  Padres won 4-1 over the Mariners so we were happy.  Now 31-42, with a 2 game winning streak.

*  Home by 7:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, write the 52 Ancestor post and work a bit in FamilySearch Family Tree.  Added some stories.  also added two sources to the database that I found from the Record Hints feature.

*  Checked Facebook and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

My Geneaholic Wednesday - 18 June 2014

I knew this would be a busy day with no time for any research.  I was right, but not gor the reasons I thought!

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Randy's 26th Birthday -- Post 312 for (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and then CGSSD Meeting on Saturday, 21 June Features Jamie Mayhew and set it for late morning.

*  Printed off the 10 or so CVGS SOPs for the noon meeting.  Left at 9:45 a.m. for the library and the CVGS computer group meeting.  Only 5 of us.  I spent over an hour with beginner Sally who wanted help getting started on her husband's line.  I found two more generations for her, saved records to my Ancestry shoebox, and said I would sent them to her.

*  Left at 11:30 a.m. for lunch at McDonalds, and back for the ByLaws meeting at 12 noon.  That went well, even some laughs, and I was home just after 2 p.m.

*  Read, then transcribed more from the murder trial and wrote The 1858 Murder Trial of Mortimer Seaver - Post 7: Testimony From 11 Witnesses.

*  Went to Ancestry and downloaded the shoebox items and more searching.  Sent her a series of emails with them attached.  Looked at the FS Family Tree and there they were, so copied some of the screens to Evernote and made a fan chart.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch TV news, eat dinner, and put out the trash.  Online at 6 p.m. to read, answer some email, check Facebook and Google+, etc.  Went in at 6:45 p.m. to see the Tony Gwynn tribute on TV.

*  Padres game came on, I read the paper, then my book, and the Pads came from behind to beat the Mariners 2-1 in the bottom of the 8th.  Now 30-42.  Still in 4th place.

*  Online at 10 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and write this post.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Monday and Tuesday - 16-17 June 2014

I was too tired to journal last night after a full genealogy day filled with sadness, frustration and success.  Today was mainly success.  Except for the Padres, who lost both days.  And Tony Gwynn died on Monday.

1)  Monday, 16 June 2014

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Amanuensis Monday - Post 222: Will of John Lothrop (1584-1653) of Barnstable, Massachusetts posted.

*  Joined the Mondays With Myrt Hangout on air and it went until almost 11 a.m.  I learned that Tony died, and wrote Tony Gwynn (1960-2014), Rest In Peace, Mr. Padre, Mr. Aztec, Mr. San Diego.  Then noted that The 1858 Murder Trial of Mortimer Seaver - Post 5: Testimony of the Victim's Wife posted.

*  Answered email, added to the Best Of blog post, and noted that Ancestry.com was down (a DDOS attack).  It was down for the rest of the day for me.

*  Searched for something useful to do without Ancestry and its farm teams, and  just Googled John Laver, and found the South Petherton parish register transcriptions!!!  A major find.  Who knew they were there?  I didn't.  Had a great time finding Laver data, and then Vaux/Vax for the rest of the afternoon.  Wrote South Petherton, Somerset, Genealogy Information - A Volunteer Effort.

*  Went in at 3:45 p.m. to watch the USA/Ghana soccer game, and we won 2-1.  Watched TV news about Tony, ate dinner, and washed the dishes after Linda came home.

*  Online at 5:45 p.m. for an hour doing more Vaux data, and watched Padres game.  We lost 6-1 to Seattle Mariners.

*  Bored at 9 p.m., came back in and worked in the South Petherton records some more, adding content and sources.  Filled out two Laver families.  Didn't journal at 10:45 p.m.

Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

2)  Tuesday, 17 June 2014

*  Read email and blogs, and found Ancestry.com still down, so I wrote Tuesday's Tip: When a Genealogy Website is Down, Find Something Useful To Do.

*  Transcribed more from the murder trial and wrote The 1858 Murder Trial of Mortimer Seaver - Post 6: More Testimony of Sarah Seaver.

*  Decided I had better start my Family Tree presentation, so worked about two hours on it.

*  Went in at 1:15 p.m. when Linda came home with the Costco pizza, ate lunch, watched the Padres game, took a nap, read the paper.  Padres lost, 7-1, I think.  Drat.

*  Bored again, online at 3 p.m. with Ancestry still down, found Record Hints on FamilySearch Family Tree, so wrote Record Hints are Now Available on FamilySearch Family Tree.  Now I need to add that to the presentation!  Ancestry seems to be back up, but not Find A Grave.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch TV, eat dinner, water the front yard, and wash the dishes.  Online at 7 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, work some more in South Petherton records adding Axe and Hare data, and then worked in the Ha surnames in the database adding content and sources from Ancestry and other sites.

*  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was  10.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Father's Day - 15 June 2014

The Ides of June - and Father's Day - were upon us today.

*  Read email and blogs, then finished the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 8 to 14 June 2014 post.

*  We went off to church at 9:15 a.m., and were home by 11:45 a.m.  Watched the rest of the Padres game, we lost 3-1 to the Mets.  Lost 6 of 7 now.

*  Went in at 1:30 p.m. to work on the database.  Added some of the collected book sketches to file folders, and added some content and sources from them.  Transcribed a will and wrote the Amanuensis Monday post.

*  We left at 4:40 p.m. for dinner at Cafe Lamaze.   Had an ice dinner, took some pics and posted them on Facebook, then had dessert at ColdStone.

*  Home by 6:45 p.m. and read email and blogs, transcribed more of the murder trial and wrote a post for Monday, then worked in the database - finished off the G surnames.  Up to 52,091 source citations.

*  Checked Facebook, read blogs and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 6.5 hours.

Saturday, June 14, 2014

My Geneaholic Saturday - 14 June 2014

This was not an all genealogy day - the Padres game intervened...for the good, too!

*  Read email and blogs, checked Ancestry and FamilySearch too.

*  Cleaned out my society bag, and left at 9 a.m. for the SDGS meeting in San Carlos.  got there by 9:30 a.m. and talked to Del, Paul and Diane, and snagged some cookies.  Del started at about 10:15 and gave two excellent presentations.  Left at 12:45 p.m. for home.

*  Home by 1:15 p.m. to watch the Padres game vs. the Mets.  Read the paper, got a needed nap, and check my phone by the time the Pads won 5-0 on a two hitter.  So now 29-39 and still in last place.

*  Went in at 4:30 p.m. to check email, Facebook and blogs, noted that Surname Saturday - LNU (resided Richmond County, N.Y.) and Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - What Did Your Father Love To Do? posted.

*  Went in at 6 p.m. to watch TV news and eat dinner, then did the dishes.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and check several ancestors for content to be added in the database.  Added a few sources and media.  Spent awhile in Eastham VRs in The Mayflower Descendant without finding many Dills.  I know they're there, but on the "other" film!

*  Worked in database adding content and sources from Ancestry and AmericanAncestors.  Got almost through the Gu surnames.  Solved some problems.

*  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

Friday, June 13, 2014

My Geneaholic Friday - 13 June 2014

I stayed home today, but not because it was Friday the 13th.  I had big genealogy plans but managed to procrastinate a bit.

*  Read email and blogs, added several more pages to the Flipboard magazine, and wrote My Flipboard Magazine for "Randy at Jamboree 2014" and set it for later.  Noted that 52 Ancestors - Week 24: #31, Mary Jane (Sovereen) Kemp (1840-1874) posted (written on Thursday).

*  Answered email, checked Facebook, and wrote three posts for the Chula Vista Genealogy Cafe blog.  Watched Michael Leclerc's talk on New England on the Jamboree streaming video.

*  Transcribed more of the murder story and wrote The 1858 Murder Trial of Mortimer Seaver - Post 4: Testimony of 10 More Witnesses but set it later in the afternoon.

*  Worked in the database adding content and sources sort of randomly...managed to get over 52,000 sources finally.  Added to the Best Of and Jamboree blog compendium during the day.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to read the paper, eat dinner and watch TV news.  The Padres game was delayed by rain, and started at 6 p.m.  I watched into the 7th inning, and then came in and wrote the two posts for Saturday.  Went back to watch the last inning and the Pads lost 6-2 to the Mets.  5 straight losses, now 28-39.  Drat.

*  Checked Facebook, blogs and email, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.  Wrote 8 blog posts too.

Thursday, June 12, 2014

My Geneaholic Thursday - 12 June 2014

This was a very full day, uninterrupted by the Padres game because I didn't watch it.  It didn't help.

*  Read email but not blogs due to Feedly outage again, wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 218: 1860 Census Record for Manning Knapp Family.

*  Printed more syllabus articles from the CD, and left at 9:40 a.m. for the library for the Research Group.  Had 11 there after the date/time change. Tablet hotspot worked like a charm in the auditorium, but still leery of doing a program with it there!   I described Jamboree syllabus, videos, and showed my pictures, and then went around the room.  Two more came just before we wrapped up.

*  Stopped at McDonalds for lunch, then home to watch the last two innings of the Padres game - lost to Phillies 7-3, so now 28-38 and in last place.  Drat.

*  Noted that The 1858 Murder Trial of Mortimer Seaver - Post 3: Testimony of 4 More Witnesses posted and wrote Book Notice: The Parrett Migration: Their Story is America's Story, by Dawn Parrett Thurston and set it for later.

*  Added more posts to the Jamboree blog, then created the Flipboard magazine (see http://t.co/2xsbZOPeya...took about three hours.

*  Had dinner, then put the brick pavers back in the rose beds.  Used them all, but not sure that's where they were before.  Oh well.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, check Facebook, update the Best Of and Jamboree compendium posts, answered email, and wrote the 52 Ancestors post for Friday.  Had to add some sources and notes for this one, the end of the 2nd great-grandparents.

*  Worked in MyHeritage record matches on the zero star Find A Grave matches - rejected about half of 36 of them, confirmed about half, 24 left to do.  Added content and sources to the database.

*  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 11.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Wednesday - 11 June 2014

I thought I was recovered from Jamboree, but was sleepy and tired all day with a headache.  Hope I didn't catch something there!

*  Read emails but not blogs since Feedly was down due to a DDOS attack.  Wrote SDGS Meeting on Saturday, 14 June Features Del Ritchhart and Betty and Her Dad in the Woods -- Post 311 for (Not So) Wordless Wednesday.

*  Answered email, checked Facebook and wrote the afternoon blog post.  Ate lunch, gathered my CVGS Bylaws meeting papers, and out to the library at 12:40 p.m. and to John's for the meeting at 1 p.m.

*  Home by 3:30 p.m. to see that The 1858 Murder Trial of Mortimer Seaver - Post 2: Jeremiah Slack's Testimony and Reader Comments About the Ancestry.com MyFamily Retirement posted.  Read blogs on Feedly and added to the Best Of and Jamboree compendium posts.

*  Went in at 4:30 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, took a short nap, ate dinner, watered the front yard, and washed the dishes before the Padres lost 3-0 on a walkoff homer in the bottom of the 9th to the Phillies.  Drat.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, answer some email, wrote another murder article installment, listen to Wacky Wednesday, and research a bit in ancestry in the Gr surnames.  Still working there!

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Tuesday - 10 June 2014

This was a pretty full genealogy day, marred only by the Padres loss to Philly.

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote Tuesday's Tip - FindMyPast Offers a Society Membership Program.  Wrote The 1858 MurderTrial of Mortimer Seaver - Post 1: Benjamin Phillips' Testimony and set it for late afternoon.

*  Added to the Best Of and Jamboree compendium posts, and answered many emails.  Wrote about 15 posts on the Jamboree blog.

*  Wrote The MyCanvas Retirement Problem - Saving as a Set of PDF Files and set it for mid-afternoon.  Made two books in MyCanvas and saved all of the pages of one of them.  Will go make the other one five generations instead of four and save the pages.  This took some time - saving 130 pages took at least 30 to 40 minutes.

* Printed off the CVGS newsletter and the mailing list, and left at 3:45 p.m. for the UPS store to publish it.  Was home by 4:30 p.m. to watch the Padres game.

*  We ate dinner, I read the paper and AmericanAncestors magazine, and Padres lost 5-2 to the Phillies.  Now 8 games under at 28-36, only 1/2 game ahead of Dbacks.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, answer email, check Facebook, wrote a post for Wednesday, and read the rest of the murder articles.  Fascinating!

*  Added to the compendium post and Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 11.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Monday - 9 June 2014

We're back from Jamboree, and the house fumigation went well, I think.

*  Read email and blogs, and the SDG&E guy came at 8:15 a.m. to turn the gas on.  He found some problems with the furnace.  He left just after 9 a.m.

*  Jumped onto YouTube to find Mondays With Myrt full, so wrote Day 3 at SCGS Genealogy Jamboree 2014 while listening.  Able to join the HOA at about 9:45 a.m., and talked about Jamboree activities, but not much else.

*  Wrote Still More Photos from SCGS Jamboree 2014 - Post 5 and Still More Photos from SCGS Jamboree 2014 - Post 6 and set it for later, and then SCGS Genealogy Jamboree 2014 Live-Streamed Sessions Available.  Watched/listened to Josh Taylor's DAR talk on Livestream.

*  Had lunch, then worked on the CVGS Newsletter and got it finished.  Added to the Best Of post and Jamboree blog compendium post too.

*  Worked on email, and checked in on Facebook.  Went out and watered the front yard and put the pants back in the entryway.  Helped Linda with the wrapped up stuff from the kitchen cabinets.  She threw away a bunch and I filled up the trash bin.

*  We had dinner, watched TV news, and I helped put stuff back in the kitchen cabinets.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, edit the newsletter one last time, sent it off, and then answered more email and checked Facebook.  Worked in Ancestry adding content and sources - almost have the Gr* surnames done.

*  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

My Semi-Geneaholic Wednesday - 4 June 2014

There was absolutely no progress made on genealogy research today...too busy with everything else.

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote All Dressed Up at the Beach -- Post 310 for (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and then looked for Social Media and Technology syllabus and article material for my round table at Jamboree.

*  Ate lunch and left at 11:15 p.m. for the bank and library, visited John's group for awhile, then to the Board meeting.  That dragged on.  Left early at 1:30 p.m. to come home for the phone call.

*  Tried to access the Ancestry presentation but got two BSOD when I was able to get on.  They emailed the presentation material and I called in on the phone.  That worked.  Interesting topics - not what I expected, a big announcement coming on Thursday morning.

*  Wrote Mocavo has 14,975 Marriage Collections, Including Massachusetts Tan Books!  Don't know how many though.

*  Went out and got the pavers the way I wanted, and scraped bark to permit tenting around the water pipe.  Watered the front, and got bird feeders down and stashed in the back.

*  Went in to watch the Padres game and read the paper.  Went to dinner at El Pollo Loco and then to Cold Stone (second night in a row) and home to watch the end of the Padres game.  We beat Pittsburgh 3-2 with one hit, a bunt single.  Their pitchers walked 9 and hit one.  So no 27-33.

*  Got the remaining bags in the refrigerator and stuff in them.  Took some non-perishables to the car and others on the dining room table.  Ran out of bags.  Packed for the trip.  Put out the trash.  Whew!  Almost ready now.

*  Came in and read, noted that Live-Streamed Video Sessions at Family History and DNA Day at Jamboree (5 June 2014) posted.  Wrote another post.  Added to the Best Of post.  Printed off some of the syllabus material - will read on the train.  Not sure how good mobiles are going to work in the presentation rooms.  Checked Facebook.  Wrote this post.  genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

My Geneaholic Tuesday - 3 June 2014

Only two more days and we're off to Jamboree!  I wish I was all prepared but i'm not.  Oh well.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Tuesday's Tip: Use Ancestry.com Card Catalog to Find Records and Publications for a Specific Locality and then Adding GEDCOM Information to FamilySearch Family Tree - Post 2: Comparing GEDCOM Data with FamilySearch Family Tree Data and set it for later in the morning.

*  Went up to the pharmacy to get twine and twist ties.  Home by 11 a.m. and read, then answered email, checked Facebook, and worked on the CVGS Newsletter.  Added three more pages worth, so I'm about 70% done.  Still little input from the board members.  I have things to do on Wednesday, not going to finish this until after we get back from Burbank and getting the blog going again on Monday.

*  Researched and wrote Geni.com Says I'm Related to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis!  But i'm not.  Ho hum.  Another dream shattered.

*  Went out and collected about half of the side yard bush branches and used the twine to tie them up into bundles for the trash.  Also removed the pavers for the easy rose bed...

*  Wrote four posts for the weekend.  Went in for dinner at 5 p.m. and read the paper and watched TV news.  We left at 6 p.m. to take food to Nellie, then to Cold Stone for ice cream, and home by 7.  I worked on the other rose bed pavers - got two up but there's no hope for the other six - they're too close to the house.  Tried to put the two back down but they're messed up.

*  Came in to watch the Padres game, and tied the fume bags with the food up.  Got all of them tied, then put the freezer food in bags too and back in the freezer.  We threw out a lot.  Padres lost 4-1 to the Pirates, so now 26-33.  Fading,.

*  Online at 10 p.m. to read, check Facebook, add to the Best Of post and write this post.  Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

My Geneaholic Sunday and Monday - 1-2 June 2014

I've been busy...but have done very little research.

1)  Sunday, 1 June 2014

*  Read email and blogs and finished up the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 25 to 31 May 2014.

*  We went off to church at 9:15 a.m., and took Judy home afterwards, but stopped at In 'n' Out for lunch.  Home at 1:45 p.m.

*  Checked everything, and we left at 2:30 p.m. to pick up Vincent and Heather at their hotel.  Had a nice tour of San Diego Bay and the beaches.  Drove by my grandparents home on Point Loma, then to Fort Rosecrans to visit my folks, and then to Cabrillo National Monument for sightseeing and pictures.  Then a stop at Sunset Cliffs for pictures, a drive through OB and PB to La Jolla.  Stopped by the Bridge Club for more pictures.  Then drove to Balboa Park and then to Coronado to Miguel's for dinner with Ruth.  Finally, back to the hotel and a view from their room of the Bay and downtown SD.  We were home by 9 p.m.

*  Read, but didn't do any research.  Went to bed at 10 and gort 9 hours sleep.  Genealogy on Sunday was all of 6 hours if you count the 5 hour tour.

2)  Monday, 2 June 2014:

*  Read email and blogs, and noted that Amanuensis Monday - Post 221: Will of Nicholas Snow (1600-1676) of Eastham, Massachusetts posted.

*  Got on the panel for Mondays With Myrt and talked about Jamboree and the Stump the Chumps findings.

*  Researched and wrote Adding GEDCOM Information to FamilySearch Family Tree - Post 1: Uploading the GEDCOM File.  Worked in the New Jersey probates and got the Able material, and wrote Finding Able/Auble Probate Records in Sussex County, New Jersey and set it for later.

*  Answered some email, and checked Facebook and added to the Best Of post.  Transcribed the John Able inventory.  Edited the CVGS newsletter template and am ready to add content.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. and watched TV news, read the paper, and had dinner.  Online at 6:30 p.m. to work on the CVGS newsletter some more - got two pages done.

*  Went in at 7:10 to watch the Padres game, and Scott came about the fumigation, gave us the bags, and answered my questions about the landscaping.  The tent will go up on Thursday, and come off on Saturday.

*  Started in on bagging food while watching the Padres game.  Got about 50% of the kitchen, all of the dining room and all of the garage done, plus the bird seed is in the back yard.  Watched the Padres game - it's a 4 hour game still going, we're down 10-3 to the Pirates right now.  No hope.

*  Came in at 10:45 p.m. to write this post.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.
