My Genealogy Wednesday - 10 January 2018

This was a full genealogy day, and I made some progress and had a little fun.  The skies cleared today a bit, rain stopped around sunrise.  Had a hardware problem which I haven't solved yet.

*  Did not take Linda to the Y, so read email and blogs, and noted that Mount San Jacinto in January 2014 -- Post 498 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted.  Added to the Best Of post.

*  Went searching for something to write, and thought of nothing, so did some random research in the women without a surname.  Found data for several of them and added to the database.

*  Gathered up the laptop and my list of topics for the CVGS Research Group and left at 11 a.m. for lunch at Mcdonalds and then to the library.  Got set up, but the projection using the new laptop and VGA to HDMI dongle was real dark.  Can't tell if it's the HDMI port on the new laptop or the dongle.  Used John's Apple laptop and his dongle and it worked fine.  We had 14 attendees.

*  Home by 2:30 and read email and blogs, added to the Best Of blog, and took a nap.

*  Online at 3:30 p.m. to read, then wrote BSO: A Maiden Name, and More, for Jessie M. Seaver.  Checked Twitter and Facebook.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. for dinner, watched TV news, read the paper, put out the trash, and washed dishes.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, then found a record and wrote the Treasure Chest Thursday post.  Found more town records, a probate record, and deeds for the biography of James Hildreth.

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.5 hours.

My Genealogy Tuesday - 9 January 2018

This was a full stay-at-home day.  It rained all day, over an inch here in Chula Vista, with blustery winds and lots of leaves on the front yard.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Treasure Chest Tuesday - 1876 Voter Registration for Elijah McKnew in San Francisco, Calif., and added to the Best Of post.

*  Reviewed the FHF presentation one moreb time, and saved it as a PDF, then Dropboxed it to Andy.  Tested out the WebJam site again, my sound worked this time.

*  Posted "Finding Your Roots'" Henry Louis Gates Jr. to Keynote RootsTech 2018 and answered email.  Had lunch.

*  Wrote Genealogy News Bytes - 9 January 2018 and laid down for a nap.

*  Online at 3:20 p.m. to read, check Twitter and Facebook, and add to the Best Of post.  Worked on the laptop disabling OneDrive (which disappeared the saved Documents) and got the old Dropbox files installed.  Copied the Pictures to the flash drive and to the laptop.  The laptop doesn't have enough hard drive memory - only 256 gb - I'm up to 200 gB already.  It's going to be a laptop only.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV news, read the paper and wash dishes.

*  Online at 6:45 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and write the Wordless post for Wednesday.  TreeShared but only 40 to do.  Worked on McKnew descendants in FamilySearch Family Tree, adding profiles from my database, and capturing some event data from tree profiles.

*  Checked Facebook, wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

My Genealogy Monday - 8 January 2018

It was an interesting day, and then the college championship game.   Rain, we finally got rain.  More on Tuesday.  Good.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, got onto Zoom early, then went to get Linda and home by 9 a.m.

*  Got into the Mondays With Myrt at the end of the green room, and we started, and the system worked.  Didn't get to talk about what I wanted, but that's OK.  During the webinar, I decided to test the share screen feature and it worked, but I didn't intend for it to be shown to everyone.  Something happened.  Not sure if that's a bug or a feature.  Over at 10:45 a.m.

*  Noted that Amanuensis Monday - 1773 Probate Papers for Jabez Snow (1696-1760) Estate in Eastham, Mass. posted, and wrote Monday Genea-Pourri - 8 January 2018.  Took my nap.

*  Online at 12:30 p.m. had lunch, printed off the CVGS newsletter master and the labels, and went to UPS Store to make the copies and mail the newsletter.  We only mail 15 now, the rest are sent by email.
\
*  Home by 2:30 p.m. to write Dear Randy: Where Can I Find the Will of Thomas Carter (1585-1652)?, add to the Best Of post, and checked Twitter and Facebook.

*  Online at 6:45 p.m. to read, then wrote the Treasure Chest post and worked in FamilySearch Family Tree matching profiles with some McKnew folks.

*  Went in at 8:30 to watch the end of the football game.  Alabama tied it at 20-20 with several minutes left, stopped Georgia, and Alabama missed a field goal at the end of regulation.  Georgia kicked a field goal in the first overtime, and after a sack, the freshman Alabama quarterback threw a 41 yard touchdown pass.

*  Online at 9?20 p.m. to read, check Facebook, and write this post.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

*  Online at 6 p.m. to note that Best of the Genea-Blogs - 31 December 2017 to 6 January 2018 posted.  Answered email.
