Yikes, we're only three weeks away from going on our vacation to the FGS Conference. I need to start planning my attack on Fort Wayne and Wisconsin Historical Society.
* Read email and blogs, and polished off the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 7-13 August 2011 post. Got cleaned up.
* Off to church at 9:30, then to the store afterwards, and home by 12:15 p.m. Watched the rest of the Padres game (we won 7-3 over the Reds, 6-4 on the road trip). Had lunch.
* Online at 1:15 p.m., read everything, wrote CVGS Annual Summer Picnic - Monday, 15 August at Bonita Library and noted that CVGS Fall Seminar on 24 September 2011 at Chula Vista Golf Course posted on the Chula Vista Genealogy Cafe blog.
* Added the Carlsbad papers to my spreadsheet of resources for each surname. Need to update that for Fort Wayne!
* Answered several emails. Did some online research to support one of them on an elusive Seaver line.
* Went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV news, read the paper, and water the back yard. We had dinner in the dining room.
* Back online at 6:15 p.m. to read, write the Amanuensis Monday post, then wrote the SDGS program summary and sent it to Diane for the SDGS Newsletter.
* Wrote another post for Monday, then started the Best Of post for next week. Wrote BBC Executive Producer Discusses WDYTYA? series details.
* Checked Facebook, and Google Plus, then wrote this post.

My genealogy day - 13 August 2011
It was a pretty full genealogy day - the SDGS meeting, some blogging, some data and source entry, and some searching for new things.
* Read email and blogs, noted that Surname Saturday - HUBBARD (England > CT > MA) posted.
* Got cleaned up, edited the SNGF post one more time, and left at 9:15 for the SDGS meeting on Lake Murray Blvd.
* Arrived at 9:35, talked to Barbara for awhile. Then enjoyed her two talks on 11 Layers of searches and Finding Books online. Now I need to write them up. Was glad to see Del up and about, and to see Pam and Gene down for a visit.
* Home by 1 p.m. to read, note that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - True Confessions about Genea-Assets posted. I wonder how many players we'll have this week? Had lunch.
* Wrote CVGS Research Group Summary - 10 August 2011 and another post for Sunday on the CV Genealogy Cafe blog.
* Decided to enter data from the Carlsbad paper collection. Started in on the Garnsey book pages and got Henry's family pretty well done by 4:30.
* Went in at 4:30 to watch the Padres game, and they were already down 3-0 in the first inning. We left at 5 p.m. to go to Oggi's for dinner, and watched more of it there. It was 9-0 when we left at 6:15. Home by 6:30, to find it 11-0, and it ended 13-1. Pads got wiped out by 7 homers by the Reds. Pathetic. Frustrating. Oh well...
* Back online at 7 p.m. to drown my sorrows... worked on the Munnings family data entry from the Garnsey book, then the second Garnsey family.
* Added to the Best Of post, checked for new FS affiliates, and found some interesting ones. Checked Facebook, answered an email, searched for an elusive ancestor, and wrote this post.

My genealogy day - 12 August 2011
It was a pretty busy genealogy day - I spent quite a bit of time in the database entering data and sources.
* Read email and blogs, then wrote Follow Friday - Weekend Genealogy Fun. Got cleaned up, went off to the health center for my lab tests. Oops, the doctor forgot to put the order in. Maybe next week? That's frustrating - wasted 45 minutes of my genealogy time.
* Found the Vaux book chapters, found the password on the old computer (note to self: capture those correspondence emails sometime soon!). Entered data for three Vaux ancestral families - notes, vitals, sources.
* Had lunch, wrote FGS 2011 Conference Program - my Wednesday selections, checked the FTM2012 Sync Beta message board, and went back to the Vaux book chapters again.
* Went into FamilySearch collections and captured more Massachusetts birth and death record images. Then added dates and sources for many 19th century ancestral family members searching systematically.
* Wrote Family Tree Maker 2012 Beta News.
* Went in at 4:45 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and eat dinner. Came in at 7 p.m. to listen to the Geneabloggers Radio show and chat.

My genealogy day - 11 August 2011
I finally had an (almost) all genealogy day, and kind of wasted several hours. Oh well...
* Saw Lori and the boys off at 7:45, cleaned up a bit, and read my email and blogs. Wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Sophia (Newton) Hildreth's Death Certificate, then worked on Comparing AmericanAncestors.org Vital Records databases with FamilySearch.org databases.
* Got cleaned up, and watched last five innings of Padres game. They beat Mets 3-2.
* Worked in FTM2012 and Ancestry Member Trees. Had problem with children missing from AMT families. Finally gave up...copied the FTM file, renamed it, loaded it, then uploaded it to Ancestry. Added data, now it syncs easily and children are in the AMT. Monitored the FTM 2012 Sync message board a lot today.
* Captured some Mass VR data from FamilySearch, but wonder if they are missing some volumes and pages. Did some Ancestry tree searching for the Pickford family too. Then tried to find Lowe family in AMT for the blog series.
* Tested out and wrote More WikiTree Widgets available. Answered some email.
* Went in at 5:15 p.m. to watch the Chargers game, ate dinner, then switched off between debate and game. Chargers lost to Seahawks, 24-17. Had to wait for Linda to finish on computer.
* Read everything, added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.

My family history days - 9 and 10 August 2011
These were days four and five of Grandpa Camp -- one without any genealogy content and the other with some.
1) Tuesday, 9 August:
* Got the boys fed, and watched TV with them. We left at 9:45 a.m. for Sea World. Saw the penguins, beluga whales, walruses, turtles and sharks, but not dolphins, seals or orcas. After lunch, we all rode the Shipwreck Reef Rapids ride, and got drenched. They did it a second time. Then to the playground with Lucas while Logan and Lori did the big waterfall in a boat ride. They got wet again. Had a snack, and left by 2 p.m.
* Home, Lori took a nap, and Linda and I took the boys to Barbara's for a swim. The boys played the whole time, usually diving and jumping and wrestling and chasing. Their motors never stop, it seems. Fun, but tiring. Home to eat broccoli, then Linda and Lori went out to dinner and I took the boys to In'n'Out for a hamburger. Then home for dessert.
* Got to put Logan down for bed, we talked until he started yawning, then "good night" and he's easy! Lucas is not so easy.
* Finally got to read email, check Facebook, read blogs, add to the Best Of post, write a post for Wednesday, and done!
2) Wednesday, 10 August:
* Read email and blogs before boys awake, noted that Calling Genealogy 911 - Firefighter Needs Help posted, and wrote (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Post 165: Betty and the Cat and set it for later, then wrote SDGS Meeting on Saturday, 13 August Features Barbara Renick and set it for afternoon. Lori and the boys left for the beach at 9:45 to meet her friend and her kids there for a play day.
* Tried to catch up on FTM2012 Sync board, answered some email, watched a bit of the Chasing Women webinar, printed off some papers, and packed the laptop for the CVGS Research Group meeting.
* Left at 11:20 for the library, got into the room and set up the laptop, then chatted with my colleagues as they came in. Started the meeting at 12 noon, but projector wasn't there yet. It arrived shortly, got it set up and we watched Leland Meitzler's Chasing Women webinar from Legacy Family Tree. The 14 attendees enjoyed it, and we spent the next hour sharing research, telling stories, answering questions, etc.
* After the meeting, I worked on a query. Home by 3 p.m. to read, do some work in FTM<2012 and sync with AMY, then went in to watch the Padres game. Pads won 9-5 over Mets.
* Had dinner, and Lori and boys came home from the beach and dinner out. We watched Padres game, then they went to bed at 8 p.m. fairly early. I put Logan down, he is so sweet and fun and happy.
* Online at 8:45 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, work in the AMT, check Facebook, and write this post.

* Read email and blogs - wrote Follow Friday - This Weekend's Genealogy Fun, checked Google Plus, and then wrote I Love the ST BookScan Center system.
* Got cleaned up, worked a bit in FTM and Ancestry, had lunch, and wrote Book Review: "Genealogy at a Glance: German Genealogy Research."
* Worked on the CVGS Newsletter and got it 90% complete. Will publish on Monday, I think.
* Went in at 3:30 to read the paper and take a nap. Checked email and blogs afterward, and we went to Lolita's for dinner.
* Home by 6:15 to read, and write More Family Tree Maker 2012 Notes. Listened to Geneabloggers Radio and chatted along with the other 50 listeners. Tried to hear and chat on the Outloud site, but couldn't hear the music or write chat lines for some reason. I could see the chat board.

Wednesday, 3 August:
* Read email and blogs, wrote (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Post 164: Lyle and Betty at the park and San Diego Genealogical Societies Panel on Sunday, 7 August at Bonita Library.
* Got cleaned up, and wrote Free Small Digital Books at DMK Heritage and set it for early afternoon.
* Had lunch, packed up and left at 11:30 a.m. for the bank and library. Attended CVGS Board meeting, then talked to Ben for about 30 minutes.
* Home by 3:15 p.m. to read, and write Ben needs help, can you suggest a solution? Did a little online research but not much.
* We left at 4:50 p.m. for the trolley to downtown San Diego, ate at the Tin Fish, met our Padres account rep for a drink, and watched the Padres beat the Dodgers 3-0. Team is 48-64 on the fast track to last place.
* Home by 11 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and check Facebook.
Genealogy on Wednesday was 8.5 hours.
2) Thursday, 4 August

* Got cleaned up, worked in FTM for awhile, checked FTM message board, had lunch, then wrote Some Family Tree Maker 2012 Sync Experiences.
* Got sidetracked finding Oregon death data, then more FTM work, and mined an Ancestry tree for Seaver information, adding it to my RootsMagic database. Worked on a website using Blogger.
* Yvonne called from Westport at 5:30 p.m., and we talked for an hour. Had dinner, watched TV news, and then back online to work on the CVGS Newsletter. Got it about 60% finished.
* Read everything, answered email, checked Facebook, wrote Update on Ben's Identification Problem, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.
Genealogy on Thursday was 12.0 hours.

* We left at 1:30 p.m. for Lillian's 100th birthday party at Fredericka. Great party! All desserts. Stopped at Von's on the way home.

My genealogy day - 1 August 2011
The start of the eighth month of the year. I wonder how I'm doing with my goals and objectives for 2011? I'm afraid to check and see!
* Up early, read email and blogs, wrote Family Tree Maker 2012 is in a Public Beta Test and Do you have information for the "Ancestry Errors Wiki?" and set it for late in the morning.
* Gathered my OASIS stuff and off to Mission Valley to teach the 4th and last class in my series. This group was great, lots of participation and questions. Stopped at McDonalds for lunch and the pharmacy for my meds.
* Home by 1:15 p.m., and read, then started writing Amanuensis Monday - Mary Oatley's Revolutionary War Pension Declaraton but kept dozing off. After two pages of transcriptions, went in to take a nap.
* Refreshed at 3:45 p.m. came back to finish the transcription and post it. Worked on the McKnew spouses ancestry on Ancestry.com, and amazingly found virtually no data about them!
* Dinner at 6 p.m., then back in Ancestry.com to finish up, and then watered front plants and started back yard watering. Padres game on, we lost 6-2 to the Dodgers.
