This is the last day before our trip to Salt Lake City, and I frittered most of it away. Have a serious case of senioritis, I guess!
* Read email, blogs and Twitter, then finished the Best of the Genea-Blogs post before getting cleaned up and going to church. Have you registered for Jamboree yet? posted before we left.
* Home from church at 11:40 a.m., quickly logged into Ancestories and got into Scanfest. Scanned about 20 images as TIFF files from my certificates notebook - finished all but the big one - 14 x 26 marriage certificate. Chatted until almost 2 PM when the computer really slowed down, so went in to watch TV.
* Easily fell asleep after the strenuous chat session, and was back on computer at 3 PM. Have no clue what was on TV. Checked Facebook, answered email, put electronics into the laptop case, got RottsMagic-To-Go updated on flash drive. CVGS Program on Wednesday, 28 April - Myrna Goodwin on Land Research posted.
* Went out at 5 PM to cut front lawn, water front plants, fill the bird feeder (will be gone in three days), had dinner, read paper, watched news, packed suitcase, etc.
* Back online at 7 p.m., read everything, packed laptop case then put paper stacks in suitcase instead. Got boarding passes, called for airport shuttle pickup, I think we're as ready as can be. Read Facebook some more, went in at 9 PM to watch History Channel for America: The Story of Us. Watched until 10 PM, came in to write this post and will go back to see the rest of it.
Genealogy today was 7.0 hours - 0.5 hour doing email, 0.5 hour reading blog posts, 1.0 hour on Twitter/Facebook, 2.5 hours on Scanfest, 1.0 hour writing blog posts, and 1.5 hours preparing for trip.

Randy's Genealogy Day - 24 April 2010
One more day to do anything useful before NGS - I'm procrastinating, I guess. Will have all of Mother's Day Weekend to finish everything up, God willing.
* We left before 7 a.m. for the swim club breakfast, was home by 8:30 a.m. Read email, blogs and Twitter, wrote Surname Saturday - UNDERHILL (MA > NH > NY), then Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - FREE 1930 Census Data and A Conversation with David E. Rencher - Part 4. Set the last two to post later due to other time commitments.
* Got cleaned up, went in to have lunch and watched end of Padres game (Pads won 6-0, now 11-6, 8 straight wins). Gathered stuff up and went off to South CV Library for CVGS seminar.
* Got to library at 1:15 p.m., helped Gary with projector and Susi with loads, and talked to folks. Program started at 2 p.m. and was over by 3:30, and I was home by 4 p.m.
* Linda was on computer so went to my chair and napped for an hour. Watched TV, we had dinner and then back online.
* Read everything at 6:15 p.m., then wrote CVGS "Getting Started" Seminar Summary on CV GenCafe blog and another post, then wrote five posts for Sunday and Monday.
* Printed off several ancestral reports for FHL research, then went into FHLC and printed off resources to check for my Page/Suffolk, Martin/NJ and White/CT/RI lines. Mainly vitals, town, church , land and probate. Probably won't get to it all but it never hurts to be prepared!
* Wrote this post!

Randy's Genealogy Day - 23 April 2010
Tick, tick, tick, another day that I didn't make any progress on the presentations...gotta buckle up and knuckle down or something like that!
* Read email, noted Bloglines was back but only with posts before Thursday, and Twitter before writing Follow Friday - the Ancestry.com Blog.
* Worked on A Conversation with David E. Rencher - Part 3 for over an hour, and set it to post late in the morning.
* Got cleaned up, checked on Facebook and Twitter, then had lunch at home and went off at 11:45 a.m. for my walk with George on the bayfront. Was home by 1 p.m.
* Read everything, then captured some census images and wrote Devier J. Smith in 1880 Agricultural Census. That took awhile too - 100 columns!
* Worked on family finances and balancing the checkbook for awhile, then went in and watched the Padres game. Quickly fell asleep for a short nap, read the paper and we had dinner watching my Padres beat the Reds 10-4 (Pads now 10-6 on year). Are they for real?
* Came in to computer at 6:30, and read everything (more blogs up now), checked Facebook again, printed off more syllabus articles for NGS next week. Went in to watch Susan Sarandon episode of WDYTYA?
* Back online at 9 p.m. after WDYTYA?, checked on Facebook, downloaded more Agricultural Census records for Smith and Carringer, wrote the Surname Saturday post for the morning, and then this post.

Randy's Genealogy Day - 22 April 2010
Another full genealogy day - one more task completed, many more to do. Tick ... tick ... tick - only four more get-ups before flying off to Salt Lake City. Lots still to do!
* Read my email and Twitter - Bloglines was down all day, hope it's back on Friday. Wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Julia White's Death Record and then worked on transcribing A Conversation with David E. Rencher - Part 2 and set it to post later in the morning. Transferred my big (10 gb) Genealogy folder contents from desktop to laptop using flash drive. Now the laptop is almost as fresh as the desktop!
* Got cleaned up, then checked out the laptop and projector in the spare bedroom. Made everything work, including the clicker/pointer. Packed everything up.
* Wrote New Ancestry.com Filters are Working! and posted it. Ate lunch at home.
* We left at 12:15 p.m. for the University City library, got there at 12:45 and was set up for lecture by 1:10 p.m. Had to put laptop on cart with projector, and put podium in the corner of the room so I could click the slides and see the screen. It all worked, but glad I had the clicker! Started at 1:30 and finished right at 3 p.m. Lots of questions... these were mainly novices but some folks with some experience.
* We stopped at Pollo Loco for dinner, and were home at 4:45 p.m. Watched TV while Linda checked her email. Finally online at 5:15 p.m. and read everything. Facebook not permitting TinyURLs to go through for some reason - that's frustrating! Still no Bloglines.
* Thought about working on class presentations but felt sluggish. Need some research to do - Barbara sent email with a problem so I tackled that and solved it quickly.
* Opened up NGS syllabus PDF file and started printing out selected articles - the ones I'm interested in and the ones I might attend. Got through Friday by 9:45 when I stopped. Checked in on Facebook all night...
* Wrote this post, and I'm almost done for the night.

Randy's Genealogy Day - 21 April 2010
A busy genealogy day - all day! Got the Thursday talk and handout finished, the Rencher interview completed and partially transcribed, the second class presentation finished and the third class presentation started. Even captured some non-population census images!
* Read email, blogs and Twitter, then planned questions for David. Wrote (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Post 100: Lyle, Rex and Tom and then SFGenealogy.net Databases (scheduled it later in morning). Got cleaned up.
* Came back and checked out FamilySearch sites and FHFair syllabus for info about NewFS - found quite a bit and reviewed it.
* Left at 11:10 a.m. for McDonalds for lunch and then to the library for Computer Group. Was home by 1:30 p.m. Brought projector home for Thursday talk.
* Read everything. Set up laptop to copy latest files. Prepped more for the Rencher telecon - tested audio recorder - works fine (but battery low!). Downloaded last two NEHGR numbers.
* Called David Rencher at 3 p.m. for 30-minute interview. Interesting subjects - will do a serial transcription because I think it's interesting.
* Wrote New FamilySearch Record Search Release coming and CVGS Seminar on Saturday, 24 April before starting transcription of interview. Got about 10 minutes transcribed before dinner.
* Went in at 6 p.m. to have dinner, watch TV, read the paper, and back online before 7 p.m.
* Edited A Conversation with David E. Rencher - Part 1 and some of Part 2, and posted Part 1.
* Edited handout for last time, printed 60 copies. Saved handout and presentation to flash drive . Edited Class 2 presentation more - added SSDI and homework. Started Class 3 presentation. Searched 1850-1880 Non-pop census records for families.
* Read everything, checked Facebook, wrote this post. Whew!

Randy's Genealogy Day - 20 April 2010
A pretty full genealogy day - got quite a bit done, but lots more to do. Tick..tick..tick - 6 days until the SLC trip.
* Up early and online early - read email, blogs and Twitter, then wrote English Parish Record data and Forrest Gump. Wrote NARA List of Records Digitized by Partners for later posting, and got cleaned up.
* Worked on the second class presentation for Genealogy 101 - Education, Vital Records and Census Records. Got it almost done... didn't do much else all afternoon - oh, did search for Carringer census records on Ancestry for presentation - to show how names are misspelled in enumerations/indexing.
* Went out at 5 p.m. to mow the back yard weed forest, and then trim around the edges. Finished at 6:20 just as the rain started to fall. Came in really dirty due to long grass and weed-whacker debris. Had dinner.
* Jumped online at 6:40 p.m., read everything, watched video, wrote San Francisco April 1906 - A ride down Market Street and went in to watch the Padres game.
* Watched Padres game (a 1-0 win over Giants, 5th straight win, Pads tied for first at 8-6 with Giants) and read George Morgan's book while watching. Also transferred genealogy and picture files to 16gb flash drive for transfer to laptop.
* Back online at 9:45 p.m., read everything, checked in on Facebook, wrote this post. done!

Randy's Genealogy Day - 19 April 2010
It was a decent genealogy day, but limited in the evening by Padres game and 24.
* Read email, blogs and Twitter, and wrote Anne Bradshaw wants your "miracle"stories and Amanuensis Monday - Guardianship of Humphrey White's children before getting cleaned up.
* Researched and wrote Who were parents of Susanna Page (ca1611-1691)? and tweeted about it too. Had lunch, gathered bookbag and went off to the library.
* Table Talk with John and Ruth. Checked out some of the books on the shelf and found George Morgan's How to Do Everything in Genealogy book on the circulation shelf, so checked it out - haven't read it before.
* Home by 1:30 p.m., read everything, and took Linda down to station to retrieve the car (needed a thermostat and routine maintenance), and looked for her lost keys - never found them. Finally started work on Gen101 Class 2 presentation - education, vital records and census records. Got the education stuff done.
* Went in at 5:30 to watch news, read the paper, and we had dinner. Back online at 6:30 and hurriedly wrote CGSSD Meeting Review - Del Ritchhart's Trips, then went in to watch the Padres-Giants game. Read Morgan's book during the game - saw several errors and inconsistencies - but a lot of good information too. Switched between 24 and Padres game - Pads won it 3-2 in the 10th on Eckstein walkoff homer.
* Back online to read everything, write this post and check Facebook.

Randy's Genealogy Day - 18 April 2010
Even the best laid plans sometimes get changed...got some unanticipated, and enjoyable, time with the grandgirls today!
* Read email, blogs and twitter before going off to church at 9:30 a.m., but didn't start writing.
* Home from church at 11:40 a.m., wrote Best of the Genea-Blogs - April 11-17, 2010. Was almost done when the phone rang - Tami says "What are you doing?" "Writing..." I said.
* Lolo's friend, Abigail, was really sick and in the Sharp ER a mile away, and Tami needed me to go get Lolo and Audrey so that Michelle could concentrate on Abigail. Got the car seats, jumped in the car, rushed up there, got the girls, came home, we fed the birds out back, got Audrey down for a nap, and took a nap myself while watching the Padres game. Lolo entertained herself with drawings and playing by herself. She was hungry after I woke up, so got her strawberries, grapes and blackberries. While I watched Padres and read newspaper, she mushed them up and had it on her face, her clothes, the furniture, etc. (but not the floor!). It tasted pretty good - she polished it off. Got her cleaned up a bit and Linda came home very surprised to find the girls there. Explained situation, and Linda got Lolo's clothes off her and spotted and into the wash. Audrey woke up, and Tami came. Padres won, 5-3 in comeback win (now 6-6 on year). Tami found out Abigail was home - apparently OK but with new medication. Tami went to pick up their stuff, and we took girls to Rubio's for dinner. Tami took them home tonight after dinner. A fun and hectic 5 hours!

* Worked on Class 1 presentation some more - added a few more charts and edited others. Need to start on Class 2 on Monday! Wrote this blog post.
Genealogy today was 5.5 hours - 1.0 hour doing email, 0.5 hour reading blogs, 0.5 hour on Twitter/Facebook, 2.0 hours writing blog posts, 1.5 hour on Gen101 classes.

Randy's Genealogy Day - 17 April 2010
Tick tick tick - going to Salt Lake City in 9 days, have first Gen101 class in 17 days. And two presentations in 28 days. Not ready for any of them. It looks like it will be an intensive week!
* Got cleaned up, then read email, blogs and Twitter before 8:15 a.m., and noted that Surname Saturday - KOENIG/KING (Germany > PA) posted.
* Left at 8:20 a.m. for UCSD for CGSSD meeting. Took box of SCGS Jamboree brochures to hand out. Sat in on RootsMagic class taught by Pam Journey - worked on Timelines for awhile, and that gave me the thought to use it for SNGF. Then talk at 10:30 by Del Ritchhart on his trips to ACPL and FHL. Nice talk - lots of pictures and useful info about the libraries.
* After the presentation, was invited to lunch with Pam and her friends. Had a nice bacon cheeseburger at TGIFridays. Was home by 1:30 p.m.
* Read everything, wrote Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - a Family Timeline, made my timeline and posted it, and went in to take a short nap.
* Napped for about 20 minutes watching baseball game, then we suited up and went off to the Padres game on the trolley. Got to the Tin Fish for fish and chips dinner (not as good as in Australia!) at 4:15, and were inside Petco Park by 5 p.m for 5:35 p.m. game start. The Pads won 5-0 over Snakes, and we were home by 9:30 p.m. A long day!

Randy's Genealogy Day - 16 April 2010
Less than two weeks now until the NGS Conference. Got the first class material almost finished!
* Read email, blogs and Twitter, and posted Follow Friday - Genealogy Education and wrote SDGS Train Trip to SCGS Jamboree 2010.
* Answered some email and found Susanna Page's father's name in a GenForum message board post - Thomas Page wrote a will in 1637 that named Susanna and her husband. Cool.
* Had lunch, went for my walk on the bayfront with George, and was home by 1 p.m.
* Read everything, checked Archives.com, made some screens and wrote First Look at Archives.com - a Database Site?
* Worked on the Class 1 presentation some more - almost done now. I will have a time problem I fear... depends on how many questions they ask. Oh well.
* Went in at 5 p.m. to read paper, watch TV and have dinner. Back online at 6 p.m.
* Read everything, worked on 6 Chula Vista Genealogy Cafe blog posts, then went in to watch Padres game before 7.
* Watched Padres game, and got laptop updated (RootsMagic 4, Legacy 7.4), checked in on Facebook, did some MyHeritage browsing, and read TJ's posts and other stuff. Pads won 6-3 in 9th inning - walkoff homer by Headley. Pads now 4-6 on season.
* Wrote this post, will write two Saturday posts too.
