Genea-Journal - Thursday, 14 March 2019

Pi day - enough said!  Linda asked about it, I explained, 3.141589265+ and she didn't understand.  This was a stay-at-home day, and I actually started on the taxes. Also did some fun genea-stuff.

*  Decided to start on the taxes - looked for my TurboTax for 2018 and it was nowhere to be found.  Not where it Should be. Not anywhere.  Checked the email and saw that I opted for the download instead of the CD.  Wasted 45 minutes there!  Got it installed, and got the income entered in except for the investments.  Tried to download the investment dividend and capital gains data from the investment firm, and got some, but not others.  Called the advisor who said "remember, we switched to another firm" for one account?"  Finally entered all of the data (it wasn't hard - 5 entries).  I really don't like the outcome here!

*  TreeShared 120 RootsMagic profiles to the Ancestry tree.  Have about 90 left to do.

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 11.0 hours.

Genea-Journal - Monday, 11 March 2019

This was not a big genealogy day because of my minor surgery.  It rained late this afternoon and into the night.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and noted that   Amanuensis Monday - 1767 Will of William Healy (1688-1772) of Chester, New Hampshire posted.  Picked her up at 8:45 and home by 9 a.m.

*  Got into Mondays With Myrt and we talked a lot about Ancestry's ThruLines, and other stuff.  Wrote Monday Genea-Pourri - 11 March 2019.

*  Printed off the master for the CVGS Newsletter and the mailing list.  Took a nap.  Had lunch.  Wrote Checking Up on My FamilySearch Family Tree.  Checked Twitter and Facebook.

*  Left at 1:30 p.m. for the UPS Store to print the newsletter and mailed them.  Then off to Mira Mesa for my minor surgery on my nose - I had a basal cell carcinoma excised late last year and had a followup to make sure they got it all.  They didn't, so they say they got it all now.  I have a half-inch of stitches on the right side of my nose.  The ride home was a real pain.  I left at 4:30 p.m., had stop and go for the first 20 miles on I-805, and home by 6 p.m.  Linda couldn't remember where I had gone or when I was returning.

*  Had dinner, watched TV, read the paper, and did the dishes.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of and RootsTech posts, then wrote the Treasure Chest post and worked on the next biography.

*  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  My nose hurts.  Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

Genea-journal - Sunday, 10 March 2019

Only 7 hours sleep due to daylight saving.  It was a cool but sunny day - only 60F.  The rain is coming on Monday afternoon they say.

*  Read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and noted that Added and Updated Ancestry.com Record Collections - Week of 3 to 9 March 2019 posted.  Started the transcription for amanuensis Monday.

*  Went off to church at 9:45 a.m., talked to John, talked to Paul A., and Gil B., and home by 11:10 a.m.  Finished up the transcription and wrote the blog post.

*  Added to the RootsTech post, and noted that Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 3 to 9 March 2019 posted.  Had lunch.

*  Edited the CVGS Newsletter and made the PDF.  Emailed it to the members.  Added to the Best Of post and answered email.  Sleepy, so went in on the recliner and dozed for 30 minutes.

*  Online at 2:30 p.m. to read, then worked a bit in FamilySearch Family Tree adding life sketches, sources and notes to several of my ancestors.  Also fixed some of the unstandard place names for quite a few of my ancestors.  Now the BirthPlace fan chart looks right.

*  Worked out in front hacking at the ivy and pulling weeds.  Got quite a bit done.  Tired, and dirty hands.  I should use gloves.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV news, read the paper and do the dishes.

*  Online at 6:45 p.m. to read, answered email, and resolved over 300 Ancestry Hints, adding content and sources.  Have about 100 profiles to TreeShare sometime.

*  Added to the Best Of post and checked Facebook, then wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

Genea-Journal - Saturday, 9 March 2019

Just another full day in the genea-cave.  It was sunny and cool today, high around 65F.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, added to the Best Of and rootsTech posts, and noted that Surname Saturday -- CORK (England to colonial New England) posted.

*  Picked Linda up at 9 a.m. and we went to the grocery store.  Home by 9:45 a.m.

*  Online to read, worked on RootsMagic Notes for AncestryDNA matches - got the Richmond/White matches done.  Wrote the SNGF post.  Had to search for the document image.

*  Had lunch, then did some random research looking for stray Seaver folks.  Found several and added them as twigs in RootsMagic.  Finished up the CVGS Newsletter draft and sent it to the reviewers.

*  Noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- A Fearless Female Writing Prompt posted.  Wrote the FamilySearch and Ancestry posts.  Returned to the random search for Seaver folks, and also checked Web Hints for the ones added yesterday.

*  Took a brief nap, and online to do more Web Hints for Seaver folks.  Noted that Added or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 3 to 9 March 2019 posted.  Forgot to walk.  Drat.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. for dinner, watched the football game, read the paper, and did the dishes.

Genea-Journal - Friday, 8 March 2019

This was a stay-at-home genealogy day, mainly because it rained this morning so Linda didn't go to the Y.  So we didn't go to the grocery store, or anywhere else.  It turned into a cool and partly sunny day.

*  Read email and blogs, added to the Best Of and RootsTech posts, and noted that 52 Ancestors - Week 268: #441 Joanna Healey (1718-1809) of Chester, New Hampshire posted.

*  Worked on the CVGS Newsletter for two hours.  Wrote New Records Available To Search This Findmypast Friday, 8 March 2019.  Answered email.

*  Tried to work on AncestryDNA but it wouldn't show me Common Ancestors on the DNA Match page.  It was wonky all day and night again.  Had lunch.

*  Added to the Best Of post, then wrote Genealogy News Bytes - 8 March 2019.

*  Checked Twitter and Facebook.  Took a 20 minute mile walk around the block.  I'm going to try to do this every non-rainy day just for general health reasons.  Was tired afterwards.  Laid down to rest my eyes.

*  Found another Seaver line in an obituary record, so added the line to RootsMagic, along with content and sources.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV, read the paper and wash dishes.

*  Online at 6:45 p.m. to read, then wrote the Surname Saturday post after finding  Great Migration sketch for the Cork surname.  Worked more on the CVGS Newsletter.  About 90% done now.

*  TreeShared 99 profiles, of which 48 were new persons in my RootsMagic tree.  First TreeShare this week.

*  Added to the RootsTech post, and checked Facebook, then wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 11 hours.

Genea-Journal - Thursday, 7 March 2019

Life prevented me from doing much genealogy work today.  It happens, and was something I needed to do.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, then home to read email and blogs, added to the Best Of and RootsTech blogs, and noted that Treasure Chest Thursday - 1707 Birth Record of Joseph Colbey of Amesbury, Mass. posted.

*  Picked up Linda, and home by 9:15 a.m.  Searched Newspapers.com for a Seavers in the News article, found two that I didn't use but updated my RootsMagic tree, and found the one I used.

*  The 2015 Nissan Altima needed service badly, so I made an appointment online for 10:45 and got it there by 10:30.  Had to wait until they did the service check and was told of the additional problems.  Got a ride home with them, in time for lunch.

*  Wrote Seavers in the News -- Neville V. Seaver Dies in 1933 in Oakland, Calif. and then spent time finding this new Seaver "bush" and adding them to my RootsMagic tree.

*  Couldn't get AncestryDNA to work, so got on Facebook and complained.  Found a way to clear cookies for Ancestry.com when I get off Chrome, and it worked!  Everybody thinks it's a cookie problem.  Checked Twitter and Facebook too.

*  Finally heard from the Nissan guy at 4 p.m., and a leak under the hood requires dropping the engine and installing a seal, which has to be ordered, but that is under warranty.  They had the other maintenance and other problems fixed.  Went out front to pick weeds from the turf, and finally got picked up at 5 p.m. to get a rental car, which took some time.  Was home by 6 p.m. with a shiny red 2019 Nissan Sentra.  Nobody better nick it.  I may get my car back on Friday, Saturday, Monday or Tuesday.

*  Had dinner, watched TV, read the paper, and washed dishes.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, answer email, add to the Best Of and RootsTech posts, and then worked on the 52 Ancestors biography, and wrote the blog post.

*  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

Genea-Journal - Wednesday, 6 March 2019

This was a fairly full genealogy day, but I didn't get a lot of research done.  It spitted almost all day but not much rain.  Warm too, 65-61 in San Diego.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read, add to the RootsTech and Best Of posts, noted that Randy and his 1969 Little League Team -- Post 555 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted.

*  Picked Linda up, and home by 9:15 a.m.  Wrote San Diego Genealogical Society Meeting on 9 March Features Ingeborg Carpenter and set it for later.  Took a nap.

*  Online at 11 a.m. to read, had lunch, and off at 11:20 a.m. for the library for the CVGS board meeting.  Got a book on the way out, and home before 2 p.m.

*  Worked a bit in ThruLines, then wrote Can AncestryDNA's ThruLines Find Cousins From Potential Ancestors?  Checked Twitter and Facebook.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to eat dinner, read the paper, watch TV news, put the trash out, and wash dishes.

*  Started work on the CVGS Newsletter and got it 25% done.  Resolved 156 Ancestry Hints, adding content and sources to RootsMagic.

*  Answered email, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

Genea-Journal - Tuesday, 5 March 2019

This was not an all-genealogy day - real life and computer problems intervened.  The day started out nice, but it rained hard this afternoon, and we will have showers for the next few days.  The back yard is full of high green weeds now.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, updated the Best Of and RootsTech posts, noted that Treasure Chest Tuesday - New York State Militia War of 1812 Payroll Record for Amos Underhill posted, then worked on the AncestryDNA matches post.

*  Picked Linda up at 9:30 a.m., and we went to Costco.  Home by 10:45 with stuff.

*  Wrote Using the New Ancestry DNA Matching Tools Features but had problems with AncestryDNA access all day after 9 a.m.  Planned to add two images when I got access.

*  Took a nap, had lunch, and online at 1 p.m to write Genealogy News Bytes - 5 March 2019.  Added to the Best Of and RootsTech posts.  Checked Twitter and Facebook.  Still had AncestryDNA problems.  It may be my cache and cookies - it acts like that.

*  Worked a bit in RootsMagic matching profiles with Family Tree, then answered email.  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV, read the paper, and wash dishes.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, wrote the Wordless Wednesday post, and tried to clear my cache and cookies.  After 20 minutes of the ball spinning, the computer locked up.  Got out the laptop and that worked fine, including AncestryDNA.  I rebooted, and found that the clearing the cache must have been successful because now AncestryDNA works for me.  I got the two images I wanted and updated my AncestryDNA post.

*  Answered email, added to the Best Of and RootsTech posts, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

Genea-Journal - Saturday, 2 March 2019

RootsTech is over, and I found I am ambivalent about wanting to be there, but am happy that I didn't spend the money for six days of walking and cold with not enough time to explore new features.  And DearMYRTLE's after party.  Oh well.  Rained this morning, dried out.

*  Read email and blogs this morning, then off to Marie Callenders for the men's Bible Study breakfast, and home by 9:45 a.m.
