My Genealogy Friday - 29 September 2017

Didn't sleep well again, tired and cranky all day.  Stayed home.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up, and home by 9:10 a.m. Noted that 52 Ancestors - Week 194: #273 Ruth (Barber) Smith (1696-1761) of Medfield and Walpole, Massachusetts posted, added to the Best Of post, and wrote New Records Available To Search This Findmypast Friday, 29 September 2017 and set it for later.

*  Worked in the Mass VRs to 1920 database on FamilySearch - got through the first 40 (out of 321) for Seaver, adding content and sources to the database.  That was fun, I need to continue the effort.  I didn't have about 50% of the events in the database, and there are some unknown Seavers too.

*  Had lunch, answered email, and wrote Genealogy News Bytes - 29 September 2017.  Took a nap.

*  Online at 2:30 p.m. to check Facebook and Twitter.  Got a message from James asking about Ella Seaver, so got into the database and added content and sources, and updated FamilySearch Family Tree profiles too.

*  Wrote the two Saturday posts.  Went in for dinner at 5:30 p.m. and watched TV news.

*  Online at 6 p.m. to work in RootsMagic, adding content and sources for "folks without dates."  TreeShared.

*  Went in at 7:15 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and then read my Ignatius book.  Got the laptop out and updated Windows, then checked the presentation for Saturday.  Padres lost 8-0 to the Giants, so now 70-90.

*  Online at 10:15 to write this post, check Facebook, add to the Best Of post, and read email.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

My Genealogy Thursday - 28 September 2017

Lookee here - two more days in September.  88 days until Christmas.  I'll be 73 in less than a month.  How did that happen?  Father Time is a mean guy...sorry for the downer theme.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up and home by 9:15 a.m.  Noted that 1761 Death Record of Ruth (Barber) Smith in Walpole, Mass. - - Post 383 of Treasure Chest Thursday posted, and wrote Free Family History Library Classes and Webinars for October 2017 and set it for later.

*  Worked in AncestryDNA matches again, added to the Best Of post, answered email, and added an Able line for a DNA match to the database.  Took my nap.

*  Had lunch, and online at 12:30 p.m. to read, then worked on "folks with no dates" in the database.  Solved a few, and added content and sources to the database.

*  Searched GenealogyBank for articles about Seaver folks and wrote Seavers in the News -- 1921 Seaver Family Reunion in Springfield, Mass.  Added several obituaries to the database too.

*  Checked Twitter and Facebook, and returned to the "folks with no dates" and found info for a few more.  Matched several Seaver families in FamilySearch Family Tree.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to eat dinner, watch the football game and TV news, read the paper, watered the front plants, then online at 6:40 p.m. to read and write the 52 Ancestors biography and post.  TreeShared the database.

*  Bored, so I went in at 8 p.m. to wash dishes and watch TV and back online at 10 p.m. to read, then wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

My Genealogy Wednesday - 27 September 2017

Well, it was going to be an all genealogy day but it didn't turn out that way.  I dillydallied too much, I think and didn't get done what I needed to do.  BSOs all day.  Oh well.  Had a better night's sleep last night.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read email and blogs, picked her up, and home by 9:15 a.m.  Wrote   2013 Visit to Nature Discovery Center -- Post 483 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and Chula Vista Family History Day - Saturday, 30 September 2017.

*  Gathered the stuff for Karen and left for the library at 9:45.  Turned in my book, talked to John a bit, then was looking for a new book to read when Karen found me.  Gave her the stuff, checked ut two books, and was home before 11 a.m.

*  Added to the Best Of post, answered email, and worked in AncestryDNA matches adding notes and checking shared matches.  Checked 23andMe also.  Tried to nap.

*  Up after noon because the phone rang and Linda talked to her brother.  They're coming to visit in 4 weeks.  About time.  Had lunch.  Talked to Tami.

*  Read, then wrote How Do You Fight the Empire State, and Win?  Checked out Seaver data too.

*  Worked in RootsMagic matching FamilySearch Family Tree persons.  Checked Facebook and Twitter.  Made plane reservations for RootsTech.

*  We left at 5 p.m. for dinner at Lolita's, then to Ralphs for groceries and home by 6:10 p.m.

*  Online to work in Ancestry updating one of the Medfield Smith families - added content and sources, and corrected a mistake in my tree.

*  Went in at 7:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game and read the paper, then started my Ignatius book.  Padres lost 10-0 to Dodgers, so now 70-89 with 3 games to go.

*  Online at 10 p.m. to read, then wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

My Genealogy Tuesday - 26 September 2017

I didn't sleep well last night - maybe got 5 hours of decent zzzzs - and was really tired and grumpy all morning.  It was not a really big genealogy day because of life and the Padres game.

*  Dropped Linda off at the Y, home to read email and blogs, picked her up and we went off to the lawyer in La Mesa for our trust review.  We need new documents, of course - the ones we had were functional but 12 years old.  The prices are 5 times what they were 12 years ago.

*  Home by noon, and I checked email and took a decent nap.  Up at 1:30 p.m. to have lunch, then online to note that Treasure Chest Tuesday -- 1910 Voter Registration for Paul Frederick Schaffner in San Francisco and FamilySearch's New Web Indexing Tool Makes Ancestry Records Easier to Find posted.

*  Researched and wrote Genealogy News Bytes - 26 September 2017.  TreeShared.  Checked Twitter and Facebook.

*  Worked in Ancestry's Texas Death Certificates for Seaver folks, added quite a bit of content and source citations for a number of folks.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. for dinner, watched TV news, and online at 6:15 p.m. to finish up the Texas death certificates.

*  Went in at 7:15 to watch the Padres game, read the paper, finish my Alex Delaware book, and wash dishes.  Padres lost big again, so now 70-88 on the season with 4 games left.

*  Online at 10 p.m. to read, check Facebook, and write this post.  Genealogy today was 6.0 hours.  Off to bed.

My Genealogy Monday - 25 September 2017

This was a fairly full genealogy day, although the Padres game on TV limited my time.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up and home before 9 a.m.

*  Got into Mondays With Myrt and didn't have much to say - three sentences on something I didn't care much about.  Frustrating.

*  Added to the Best Of post, answered email, and noted that Added or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 17 to 23 September 2017 and  Amanuensis Monday - Probate Records for Estate of John Garnsey (1648-1722) of Rehoboth, Mass. - Part 2 posted.

*  Took my nap, had lunch and online at 1 p.m.  to read, then wrote Dear Randy: What Is Your Genealogy Work Flow Using RootsMagic TreeShare?

*  Went to the grocery store, and home to read, checked Twitter and Facebook, answered emails and checked 23andMe DNA matches.  TreeShared.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV news, and then online again at 6:15 p.m. to work on Ancestry Hints, adding content and sources for several Sever people.

*  Went in at 7:15 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and read my Delaware book.  Padres lost to the Dodgers 9-3 and it wasn't that close, so now 70-87 on the season.

*  Came in at 9:15 p.m. to read, then wrote the Treasure Chest post for Tuesday.  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

*  Online at 12:45 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and wrote Genealogy News Bytes - 8 September 2017.

*  Worked in FamilySearch Family Tree for awhile, then TreeShared the changes.  Checked Twitter and Facebook.  Worked on the CVGS newsletter - 95% done now.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. to eat dinner and watch TV.  Online at 6 p.m. to add to the Best Of post, and did a bit of searching in RootsMagic.

*  Went in at 6:40 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and read my Jack Reacher book.  Padres won 10-6 over Arizona, so now 64-78 on the year.

*  Genealogy this day was 7.5 hours.

2)  Saturday, 9 September:

*  Dropped Linda off, then headed for the SDGS seminar.  got there at 7:45 and checked email and blogs on the phone.  Talked to folks - then Judy Russell did her first two talks - excellent work.  Had lunch, and met a new distant cousin - the Towne line in Massachusetts.  Decided to head home at 12:30 because I was exhausted and sleepy and cranky.

*  Home by 1 p.m. and took a nap in the recliner.  Online at 2:15 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, write the Ancestry and FamilySearch posts, and noted that Surname Saturday - WHITEHEAD (England to colonial New York) and Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- How Did Your Parents Meet? posted.

*  Worked a bit on the Hede families, and added some sources and content.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. for dinner, watched the Padres game, read the paper and my book.  Padres came back from 6-0 deficit to beat win 8-7 with 6 runs in the 9th inning over Arizona.  Best comeback game of the year.   So now 65-78 on the season.

*  Searched in vain for the Pac-12 network on DirecTV - not there, so listened to Aztecs game on the radio.  Aztecs are ahead of ASU 27-14 as I type this in the 4th quarter.  Finished up the CVGS newsletter and mailed it to the reviewers.  Finished up the Best Of post.  Checked Facebook.  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

My Genealogy Thursday - 7 September 2017

This day did not go as expected - the Internet/phone connection was really flaky and I had little research or blog time as a result.

*  Dropped Linda off at the Y, home to read email and blogs, picked her up, and home by 9:15 a.m.

*  Internet was flaky - one minute on, 10-15 minutes off, until 10 a.m. I called AT&T at 9:30 a.m. and struggled to understand the lady.  Finally told her I didn't want an appointment on Monday, I wanted it today, and she came up with one before 12:30.  I no sooner hung up and it magically was OK for two hours.  So I finished reading blogs.

*  Worked on the CVGS newsletter during the outage too.  Noted that 1712 Birth Record for Samuel Peirce in Watertown, Massachusetts - - Post 381 of Treasure Chest Thursday posted.  Wrote a post for Monday, but I see Eastman has posted it anyway in violation of the embargo.

*  Rested my eyes for 30 minutes, had lunch, and the AT&T guy came and said he would go down to the telephone box and work on it.  Internet went flaky at 1 p.m. and stayed that way until 4 p.m.  I worked more on the CVGS newsletter, a questionnaire, the 52 Ancestors sketch, and  worked on balancing the checkbook in MSMoney.

*  When it came back, I checked Facebook and wrote Track Down Your WWI Military Ancestors with Free Multi-Session Webinar.

*  Went in for dinner at 5:15 p.m., watched TV news, and then watched the Padres game.  Read the paper, and then my book.  Padres beat the Cards 3-0 so now 63-78 on the season.

*  Online at 9:15 p.m. to read, then wrote the 52 Ancestors post, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was maybe 6 hours.  Internet has been fine since 4 p.m.  Knock on wood!

My Genealogy Wednesday - 6 September 2017

I missed journaling Tuesday again - went to the hygienist, took a nap, did genealogy srtuff, and we went to the Padres game, and lost 8-4 to the Cards.  Only blogged a bit, TreeShared and matched folks in the Family Tree.  Internet was flaky all day again.

*  Today, dropped Linda at 8 a.m., home to read email and blogs, picked her up at 9:30 and we went to Ralphs to grocery shop, home by 10 a.m. and I rested my eyes and added to the Best Of post.  Noted that Grandgirls at a 2013 Padres Game -- Post 480 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted.

*  Went to McDonalds for lunch, then to the library for books, and the CVGS board meeting.  Home by 1 p.m.  Wrote Chula Vista Family History Day - Saturday, 30 September 2017 and then searched for a news article and wrote Seavers in the News- Henry E. Seaver Killed by Trolley in 1922.

*  Checked Facebook, matched some RM profiles with FS Family Tree.  Answered email.  Added to the Best Of post.

*  Went in at 5:40 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV news, put out the trash, and online to write the Treasure Chest post and work just a bit in Ancestry Hints.  TreeShared RM to AMT.

*  Went in at 7:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and read the end of my Sandford book.  Padres lost to Cards 3-1 so now 62-78.  Only 22 games to go.

*  Online at 10:10 p.m. to read, check Facebook, and write this post.  Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

My Genealogy Monday - 4 September 2017

I no sooner posted last Wednesday and Thursday, and went dark again.  I blame the Padres - a late game on Friday on TV, we went to the game on Saturday and Sunday.  Not much genealogy any of those days besides the usual blog posts.

Really warm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the 90s here.  Had some rain and wind from Lidia on Sunday morning.  Really humid and cloudy.  The high Sunday was 92F which occurred at Midnight.  Low was like 78 at 2 p.m.  Strange!

*  We slept in this Monday morning, I was up by 7:30 but Linda slept until 9:30.  We needed it.  Read my email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and noted that Labor Day - "There are things that happen in a second that take a lifetime to explain" and Added or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 27 August to 2 September 2017 posted.

*  Answered a bunch of emails, then worked on a blog response.  Noted that the last TreeShare didn't work - have no clue why.  The persons added and edited the night before were not in my database.  Something must have happened.  First time ever that RootsMagic didn't save the data even when the computer was rebooted.  TreeShared.

*  Worked on adding the content I lost adding info from the Obituary Coollection, Legacy, Tributes and GenBank.  Noted that Amanuensis Monday - 1741 Account for Estate of Josiah Wood (1687-1753) of Woburn, Mass. posted.

*  Went in at 1:40 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and dozed for awhile.  Padres lost to Cardinals 2-0, so now 62-76 on the season.  We went Saturday and Sunday and won both games, so we are 11-9 on the season in attendance.

*  Worked some more on the obituary adds to the database.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to eat dinner and watch TV.  Picked leaves up in the front yard after windstorm Sunday morning.

*  Online at 6 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and worked more on the obituary data.  Wrote the Treasure Chest Tuesday post.  TreeShared to get the new stuff into the AMT.  Should have Hints tomorrow!

*  Worked accepting and rejecting the Ancestry WebHints for Linda's ancestors.

*  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.
