Genea-Journal - Thursday, 31 October 2019

Cool this morning, down in the 40s, turned the heater on.  Clear and sunny and warm in the afternoon.

*  Looked for a Seaver obituary and found a good one, but took my nap first.

*  Had lunch, then wrote Seavers in the News -- Anna (Tague) Seaver (1809-1886) Dies in Indiana and then Beware of Automated Computer Indexing of Newspaper Articles.

*  Checked Twitter and Facebook, and worked on the 52 Ancestors sketch.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV news, read the paper and wash dishes.  All set for the trick or treaters too.

Genea-Journal - Thursday, 24 October 2019

What a frustrating day.  The Cox Cable which we have for TV, internet and phone went out around 2 p.m. and didn't come back until about 7:30 p.m.  When I called, the phone message said it might be restored by 7:05 p.m.  close enough.  But it sure played havoc with Linda's TV watching, or dinner in silence, and my computer work.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and noted that   Treasure Chest Thursday - 1820 U.S. Census Record for Martin Carringer Household in Mercer County, Pennsylvania posted.

*  Picked her up and we were home by 9:15 a.m.  I wrote RootsTech London 2019 Conference Blog Compendium (but the posts are sparse so far - none tonight!) and then took my nap.

*  Online at 11:30, had lunch, then wrote Seavers in the News -- Adam Seaver Dies in Clifton, Kansas in 1889 and set it for later.

*  Answered email, and worked matching profiles with FamilySearch Family Tree.  The Internet got slow, and finally stopped.  The TV went out.  Hmmm.  After an hour of trying to reboot and getting nowhere, I called Cox and got the message that my neighborhood was affected.

*  I opened up the laptop and used my phone as a hotspot (thereby using up most of my monthly data allotment!).  So I was able to add to the Best Of post and get on Facebook.  But Facebook wouldn't let me post anything more than a one word post, but would allow a many word comment.  Strange.  Still happens.  I wonder why.

*  Went in and we ate dinner with the fan going and no TV, read the paper, did the dishes.

*  Remembered that I could still use the desktop with RootsMagic, so started on the 52 Ancestors sketch.  Had to add about 15 deed source citations to the profile.  At 7:30 the Cox Cable came back on and Linda was happy.  Finished up the profile and wrote the 52 Ancestors post.  This is the first of my 7th great-grandparents.

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  genealogy today was 10 hours.

Genea-Journal - Wednesday, 23 October 2019

Happy birthday to me, 76 years in the same old body.  This was a day in the genea-cave with a little blogging, a little researching, presentation work, some Facebook and Twitter, and dinner out with Linda and the World Series on TV tonight.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, noted that   Randy and His Mother in Late 1943 -- Post 588 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted, and looked at some of my Thruline, adding notes for about 5 of the new ones.

*  Picked Linda up at 9 a.m. and took her to the hairdresser.  I read email and blogs on my phone.  Home by 10 a.m.

*  Worked some more on the DNA matches, then took my nap.  Up at 11:30 and had lunch.

*  Wrote Dear Randy: How Do You "Collect" All of Those Links?  Edited the presentation once more, then made the syllabus.

*  Checked Twitter and Facebook.  Had over 170 birthday greetings to work through.  Responded to a few.  Answered email.

*  We left at 4:45 p.m. for dinner at Black Angus.  Posted photos on Facebook of our pre-meal beverages.  My dinner was fine, Linda is never satisfied.  It's hard to find a place she can eat and be happy.  Right now it's In 'n' Out.  We brought home the birthday dessert - a big chocolate chip cookie.  I will eat it in bits over the next week.

*  Home by 7 p.m. to watch the World Series game, read the paper, and put out the trash.  Online at 8 p.m. to write the Treasure Chest post and add to the Best Of post.  Back to see the end of the game which Nationals won 12-3 in 4 hours.
