Genea-Journal - 27 to 29 August 2019

Time sure flies when you think you have to watch the baseball games.  And journals don't get written.  

1)  Tuesday, 27 August:

*  Dropped Linda, home, picked her up, wrote blog posts, worked in DNA matches, got a nap, and checked T and F.  We went to the Padres game and lost to Dodgers 9-0.  Crapola.

2)  Wednesday, 28 August:

*  Dropped Linda, home, picked her up, shopped at grocery store, wrote blog posts, got a nap, and went to CVGS program.  Home by 2 to write a post, check F and T, and watched the Padres lose again to Dodgers 6-4 in 10 innings.  Crapola.  

3)  Thursday, 29 August:

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, added to Best Of post, and noted that Treasure Chest Thursday - 1721 Baptism Record of ____ Potman in Freehold, N.J. posted.  

*  Picked her up, and home to work on AncestryDNA matches, answer email, and take a nap.

*  Lunch at 12:30, searched for an obituary, finally found a decent one, and wrote Seavers in the News -- Dr. R.N. Seaver Dies in 1905 in Corry, Penn.  Checked Twitter and Facebook, and worked on the 52 Ancestors profile.

*  Went in for dinner at 5:30, watched TV news, and online to write the 52 Ancestors post.  

*  Went in at 6:50 p.m. to watch the Padres play the Giants, read the paper, then my book, washed dishes.  Padres won 5-3, so now 62-71 on the season.  

*  Online at 9:15 p.m. to add to the Best Of post, check Facebook and write this post.  Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

Genea-Journal - Monday, 26 August 2019

It was another warm day here - two in a row now.  About 85F here.  I spent almost all day in the genea-cave.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y.  Home to read.  Added to the Best Of post and noted that Amanuensis Monday -- 1816 Mortgage Deed of Nathan Gates to John Miles in Gardner, Massachusetts posted.

*  Piked up Linda, and home by 9:15 a.m.  Worked on AncestryDNA Notes for common ancestors.  Took my nap.  

*  Had lunch, watched a webinar, then wrote Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 26 August 2019 and How Many "Common Ancestors" Do You Have on AncestryDNA?

*  Checked Twitter and Facebook, then worked on WebHints for awhile.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. for dinner, watched TV news, watered the front plants.  

*  Online at 6 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, wrote the Treasure Chest post, and worked in FamilySearch Family Tree.  

*  Went in at 7:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, read my Patterson book and did dishes.  Padres beat Dodgers 4-3, so now 61-69 on the season.  

*  Online at 10:10 p.m. to read, check Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

Genea-Journal - 23-25 August 2019

I didn't journal the last two nights because of the Padres games.  Genealogy work continued, however.

1)  Friday, 23 August:

*  Dropped Linda, home to read, picked her up, and we went to Costco, and ate lunch there.  Home by 10:45.

*  Noted that 52 Ancestors - Week 292: #503 Marie (LaTourette) Lewis (1734-1791) of Richmond County, New York and New Records Available To Search This Findmypast Friday, 23 August 2019 posted.  Had a nap.

*  Had lunch, and wrote Genealogy News Bytes - 23 August 2019.  Checked Facebook and Twitter.  Wrote the Surname and SNGF posts.

*  Had dinner, resolved 191 Ancestry Hints before watching the Padres game.  Red Sox won 11-0 and it was never close.  Bummer.  Genealogy this day was 8.0 hours.

2)  Saturday, 24 August 2019:

*  Dropped Linda, home to read, picked her up, and packed up for the SDGS RootsMagic Users Group.

*  Got to the FHC at 10:10 (traffic and then a driving error - first one ever!) and we had only 9 for the meeting.  Didn't get much done.  Home by 12:30 p.m.

*  Online to note that Surname Saturday -- LNU (Joanna, married Edward Winn, England to colonial Massachusetts) and Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Ancestor With Most Unusual Occupation posted.  Wrote the FamilySearch and Ancestry update posts.  Resolved 76 Ancestry Hints.

*  Had lunch, dozed in the recliner.  We left at 3:45 p.m. for the Padres game - #4 with the wheelchair.  Had dinner at In 'n' Out, and got there by 5:20 p.m.  Red Sox won 5-4 in a good tight game.   Home by 10:30 p.m.  Genealogy this day was 5.5 hours.

3)  Sunday, 25 August 2019:

*  Read email and blogs, cleaned up the Best Of post, and wrote the Amanuensis Monday post.

*  We left for church at 9:40 and went to the store after, home by 11:45.

*  Online to note that Added and Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 18 to 24 August 2019 and Added and Updated Ancestry.com Record Collections - Week of 18 to 24 August 2019 posted.

*  Went in at 12:15 p.m. to watch TV, eat lunch, and doze in the recliner.  Watched the Padres game, read the paper, and Padres won 3-1 over Red Sox, so now 60-69 on the season.  

*  Online to note that Best of the Genea-Blogs - 18 to 24 August 2019 and wrote   Chula Vista Genealogical Society Meeting on Wednesday, 28 August Features Bob Chicca.  

*  Went in for dinner at 5 p.m., watched TV news, washed dishes, finished the laundry, and worked in the front plants trimming rose bushes and weed.

*  Online at 6:45 p.m. to read, then TreeShared 161 profiles to the Ancestry tree, and checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 4.5 hours.

Another all-genealogy day - still had a nap, but no Padres game today.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and noted that   Treasure Chest Thursday - 1718 Birth Record of Joanah Heely in Hampton, N.H. posted.

*  Picked her up, and we went to the 99 Cent Store for cans of food and vegetables.  Home by 10 a.m.

*  Online to read, then worked in RootsMagic Web Hints finding bits of information for folks with missing BMDs.  This works fairly well.  Took my nap.

*  Had lunch, and online at 12:30 p.m. to write Seavers in the News -- Gertrude (Smith) Seaver Run Over By a Traction Car in 1908.  A sad story.

*  Worked some more on RootsMagic Web hints, and then checked Twitter and Facebook.  Answered email.  Added to the Best Of post.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV and read the paper, washed dishes and watered the front plants.  

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, wrote the 52 Ancestors post, and then resolved 213 Ancestry Hints.  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

This was another all-genealogy day except for the Padres game and a nap.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and noted that   Four Generations in 1975-- Post 579 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted.

*  Picked her up, and home by 9:15 a.m.  Worked on NGS and FGS Announce Intent to Merge but left it in Edit until later.  Made notes for the CVGS DNA group meeting.

*  Went in at 10:30 to watch the Padres game, had lunch.  They lost to Reds 4-2.

*  Left at 11:20 a.m. for the library to moderate the CVGS DNA Group.  We had only 9 in attendance.

*  Home by 2:30 p.m. to take a nap, then online at 3:15 to write "The Pending Reinvention of Ancestry.com" Article on Counting Chromosomes.  Checked Twitter and Facebook.

*  Went in at 4:45 for dinner, read the paper, watched TV news, washed dishes, and put out the trash cans. 

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and wrote the Treasure Chest post.  Resolved 383 Ancestry Hints adding content and sources to RootsMagic. 

*  Answered email, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

This was another all-genealogy day except for the nap and Padres game.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and noted that   Treasure Chest Tuesday - 1734 Baptism of Marie La Tourette (1734-1791) in New York City posted.

*  Worked in AncestryDNA, adding more info to Notes, and added two Common Ancestor lines to the RootsMagic tree.  Sent a list of recent DNA blog posts to the CVGS list.

*  Took my nap. Had lunch, and online at 12:40 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and write   Genealogy News Bytes - 20 August 2019.

*  Matched some profiles to FamilySearch Family tree, then checked Twitter and Facebook.

*  Went in at 4 p.m. to watch the Padres game, made spaghetti for dinner, and we ate, read the paper, washed dishes, watered the front plants, and read my book.  Padres lost 3-2 to Reds, so now 59-66 on the season.

*  Online at 7:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and write the Wordless Wednesday post.  TreeShared 120 profiles to the Ancestry Tree.  Reviewed and merged place names in RootsMagic for F to K place names. 

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

This was an all genealogy day except for the nap and Padres game.  I actually did a few new things too.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and noted that   Amanuensis Monday -- 1816 Mortgage Deed of Nathan Gates to John Miles in Gardner, Massachusetts posted.

*  Picked her up, and home by 9:15 a.m.  Worked on my grandmother's post and then put photos of her in a presentation file in approximate order.  I will add captions and make them uniform sizes later.  

*  Downloaded the latest Legacy Family Tree 9, installed it, and added a fresh GEDCOM of my RootsMagic tree. 

*  Noted that Happy 120th Birthday, Gram! (A MIPIML) - Emily Kemp (Auble) Carringer (1899-1977) posted.  Took my nap.

*  Had lunch, then added to the Best Of post, and worked in MyHeritage mining data from several databases and adding them to RootsMagic.  

*  Wrote Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 19 August 2019 and checked Twitter and Facebook.

*  Went in at 4 p.m. to watch the Padres game, eat dinner, read the paper, and read my book.  Padres won 3-2 over Reds, so now 59-65.

*  Online at 7:20 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and write the Treasure Chest post.  Computer and TV were down for awhile.  Worked on my Leeds Method chart until it came back on.  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.   Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

Genea-Journal - 17-18 August 2019

We were gone to Huntington Beach all day Saturday, but got home at 8 p.m.  Sunday was a church, Padres and genealogy day.

1)  Saturday, 17 August:

*  Read email and blogs, but left at 7:20 to take Linda to the Y, and then went to the Men's breakfast at 8 a.m. at Sunset at the Park.  Left at 8:45 a.m. to pick up Linda, and we drove to Huntington Beach.

*  got there at 10:40 a.m. and found Tami and family at the Boys and girls Club.  Watched Charlie's soccer game.  Went back to the house and ad pizza for lunch, then left at 12:45 p.m. for Audrey's soccer game.  Audrey scored a goal, and their team won.  Back to the house to rest, watched TV, talked to the kids.  Left at 5 p.m. to Callenders for dinner with Audrey and Tami, then to the house to eat pie.

*  We left at 6:30 p.m. for home, and arrived at 8 p.m.  Listened to the end of the Padres game on the radio.  Read email and blogs and Facebook.  Extra tired, so to bed at 10 p.m.  Genealogy this day was 1.5 hours.

2)  Sunday, 18 August:

*  Got 8 hours sleep, hooray.  Read email and blogs, noted that Added and Updated Ancestry.com Record Collections - Week of 11 to 17 August 2019 posted and finished the Best Of post.

*  Left for church at 9:15 a.m. and home by 11:20 a.m.  Watched the Padres game and read the paper - we won 3-2 over Phillies, and now 58-65 on the season.  

*  Online at 1:15 p.m. to note that Best of the Genea-Blogs - 11 to 17 August 2019 posted.  Wrote the Amanuensis post.  Resolved some Ancestry Hints.  

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to help with dinner, watched TV news, washed dishes, and worked on the rose bushes in front.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, then resolved more Ancestry Hints, adding content and sources to RootsdMagic profiles.

*  Added top the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 6.5 hours.

Another week has flow by, and I'm still pecking away at my family tree.  It;s still growing too!  And has more events and sources than last week.  Didn't sleep well last night - only 6 hours.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and noted that 52 Ancestors - Week 291: #502 Jonathan Lewis (1715-1786) of Richmond County, New York posted.

*  Picked her up, got the laundry started, and home by 9:15 a.m.  Wrote New Records Available To Search This Findmypast Friday, 16 August 2019, then worked in RootsMagic on WebHints, adding content and sources to the tree.  Tried to nap and failed.  

*  Had lunch, answered email, and worked in the AncestryDNA Matches editing Notes. Wrote Genealogy News Bytes - 16 August 2019 and then two Saturday posts.

*  Checked Twitter and Facebook, and dozed in my desk chair.  Added to the Best Of post.

*  Went in at 4 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, fix and eat dinner, and read my Reacher book.  Padres lost 8-4 to Phillies, so now 56-65 on the season.  Sprayed both cars and wiped the inside windows on the Altima.  Watered the front plants.  Washed dishes.

*  Online at 7:45 to read, then TreeShared 98 profiles, and wrote two more posts for the weekend.  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

*  Picked her up and home by 9:15 a.m.  Worked on finding Jonathan Lewis family records with little success.  Wrote Seavers in the News -- Lucy Barrett (Jewett) Seaver Dies in Brooklyn in 1909.  Took my nap.

*  Had lunch, online at 12:30 p.m. to add to the Best Of post, then wrote Are You Related to a U.S. President? HistoryLink and Geni Can Tell You!  Checked Twitter and Facebook, then worked on the 52 Ancestors sketch.  

*  Went in at 5:20 p.m. for dinner, read the paper, watched TV news, did the dishes, and watered the front plants. 

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to write the 52 Ancestors post, then resolved 210 Ancestry Hints adding content and sources, and TreeShared 130 profiles to the Ancestry tree.   Answered email.

*  Added to the Best Of post, and checked Facebook.  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

Genea-Journal - 12 - 14 August 2019

The Padres games on Monday and Tuesday ended late, so I didn't journal.  It warmed up a bit today - high around 80 and more humid.

1)  Monday, 12 August:

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up, and got into Mondays With Myrt.  Wrote two blog posts, took a nap, and resolved 118 Ancestry Hints.  Padres lost to Rays 10-4 and it wasn't that close.  Game ended at 10:50 p.m.  Genealogy this day was about 7.5 hours.

2)  Tuesday, 13 August:

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up, we went to the store, took a nap.  Wrote two blog posts, resolved 350 Ancestry Hints.  We left at 4:45 p.m. for the Padres game, had dinner at Tin Fish, and Padres lost 7-5 to Rays.  Game ended at 10:55 p.m., home by 11:35 p.m.  Genealogy this day was 6.5 hours.

3)  Wednesday, 14 August:

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, noted that Two of My Favorite Females in 1991 -- Post 578 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted, and added to the Best Of post.  Napped for a bit.  Had lunch.

*  Off to the library at 11:30 a.m., got set up for the CVGS Research Group, and we had 13 in attendance.  Home by 2:20 p.m. to read, then watched the Padres game, read the paper, dozed in the recliner.  Padres beat the Rays 7-2, so now 56-64 on the season.  42 to go, would have to win 30 games just to have some chance for playoffs.  Not going to happen - give the kids more playing time.

*  Online to write Using Ancestry.com Search To Find a Maiden Name for Agnes (--?--) Seaver, checked Twitter and Facebook, then went in to eat dinner and watch TV news, wash dishes, and put out the trash.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, worked on the 52 Ancestor subject a bit, finally found a record for the Treasure Chest post.  Talked to Lori, and got the Lewis wills into the RootsMagic tree. 

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

Well, baseball games cause me to not journal every night during the season.  The Pads won 3 out of 4 this weekend from Rockies.

1)  Thursday, 8 August:

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up, wrote blog posts, had a nap, did data entry, checked Facebook, worked on CVGS newsletter, and Padres won.  Genealogy this day about 8.0 hours.

2)  Friday, 9 August:

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up, went to the library for CVGS meeting, wrote blog posts, did data entry, and Padres won 9-3.  Genealogy this day about 8.0 hours.

3)  Saturday, 10 August:

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up, and didn't go to the SDGS meeting because of poor sleep.  Had a nice nap, wrote blog posts, did data entry, and checked Facebook.  Padres won 8-5.  Genealogy this day about 7 hours.

4)  Sunday, 11 August:

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Added and Updated Ancestry.com Record Collections - Week of 4 to 10 August 2019 posted, and wrote the Amanuensis Monday post.

*  We left for church at 9:45 and were home by 11:15.  Finished up the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 4 to 10 August 2019 post and worked on Web Hints in RootsMagic.

*  Went in at 12:40 p.m. to eat lunch, read the paper, and watch the Padres game.  Pads lost 8-3, so now 55-62 on the season, and 10-17 since the break.  

*  Took Linda to the nail salon, came home and worked on CVGS Newsletter, and picked her up and we went to Lolita's for dinner.  Home by 6 p.m.

*  Online to read, add to the Best Of post, TreeShared 182 profiles, and resolved 272 Ancestry Hints.  

*  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

Genea-Journal - 6-7 August 2019

Again the Padres game ran late on Tuesday night, so I didn't journal.  Typical July weather here - mostly sunny, some high clouds, high around 80F, low around 68F.  We haven't had any monsoonal storms yet, although I've seen thunderheads over the distant mountains to the east.

1)  Tuesday, 6 August:

*  Dropped Linda, home to read, picked her up, and home to note that   Treasure Chest Tuesday -- 1855 Wisconsin State Census for Samuel Vaux Household in Burnett, Wisconsin posted.  Took a nap.

*  Practiced and edited my DNA talk for Thursday.  Had lunch.

*  Wrote Genealogy News Bytes - 6 August 2019.  Checked Twitter and Facebook.  Worked in RootsMagic Web Hints, added some Seaver folks and content and sources.

*  Had dinner, watered the front plants, and online at 6:15 p.m. to write the two Wednesday posts.

*  Went in at 7:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and finished by Lisa Gardner book.  Padres won 9-4 over Mariners so now 52-60.  Genealogy this day was 8.0 hours.

2)  Wednesday, 7 August:

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read, added to the Best Of post, and noted that Betty and Her Grandgirls -- Post 577 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted.  

*  Picked her up, and we stopped at the grocery store.  Messed around with AncestryDFNA then took a nap.

*  Had lunch, and left for the CVGS Board meeting at the library at 11:25 a.m.  Home by 2 p.m.

*  Added to the Best Of post, answered email, and noted that SDGS Meeting on Saturday, 10 August Features Jean Wilcox Hibben posted.  Wrote Dear Randy - How Do You Use the Ancestry Record Hints?

*  Went in at 3:45 p.m. to watch the Padres game, ate dinner, read the paper, and started the Reacher book.  Padres lost 3-2 to Mariners so now 52-61 on the season.  Put out the trash and washed dishes.

*  Online to read, add to the Best Of post, and wrote two posts for Thursday.  Did some research for the obituary family and added profiles to the RootsMagic tree.  

*  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

This was almost an all-genealogy day since no Padres game.  I lost my Inbox emails today somehow - musta clicked too fast on something wrong.  Found most of what I recalled in Trash.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read, add to the Best Of post, and noted that Amanuensis Monday -- 1796 Deed of Samuel Hoar to Nathan Gates in Gardner, Massachusetts posted.  

*  Picked her up and we were home at 9 a.m.  Got into Mondays With Myrt and contributed a bit - highlighted the Best Of and FamilySearch posts.  Added to the Best Of post.  

*  Took a nap, had lunch, watched a webinar, and wrote Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 5 August 2019.  

*  Searched for the email, then checked Twitter and Facebook.  Took a look at some of my Facebook groups that I have neglected recently.  Not much new!  Worked in RootsMagic Web Hints but found very little of use.  Matched several families with Family Tree.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. for dinner, watched TV news, read the paper, and did dishes.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to write the Treasure Chest post, worked some more in Family Tree matching, and then resolved 252 Ancestry Hints, adding content and sources to the RootsMagic tree.

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  genealogy today was 10.5 hours.

This was a nice day out but I spent little time outside.  Too many things to do in the genea-cave.

*  Read email and blogs, and transcribed a Nathan Gates deed for the amanuensis post.

*  We left at 9:40 a.m. for church, stopped at the grocery store, and home by 12:16 p.m.

*  Noted that Added and Updated Ancestry.com Record Collections - Week of 28 July to 3 August 2019 posted, and worked on random Web Hints.  Noted that Best of the Genea-Blogs - 28 July to 3 August 2019 posted.

*  Went in at 1:15 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, had lunch, and tried to doze in the recliner.  Padres lost 11-10 to Dodgers in the 9th, so now 51-60. 

*  Online at 5 p.m. to do more Family Tree matching, and went in for dinner at 5:30 p.m.

*  Online again at 6:15 p.m. to do more Family Tree matching, then TreeShared 148 profiles to bring the Ancestry tree up-to-date.  Did more WebHints, and matched more data to Family Tree.

*  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 5.0 hours.
