It's the last day of February, so I'll do my statistics at the end of this post.

*  Answered some email, corrected the last blog post, did one page of 1871 English census indexing, checked Facebook, and finished through 360 in Find-A-Grave for Seavers.   Added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.

This was an all-genealogy day, mostly blogging.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Tuesday's Tip - Use Find-A-Grave for Cemetery Records.

*  Worked in FTM 2012 and RootsMagic to make a 1940 Census list,  and then wrote Making a List of Persons Alive in the 1940 US Census.  Worked some more, and wrote No Such Thing as a Useless Post ...

*  Had lunch, worked in the database turning Devier Smith into an Evidence-based guy, and then wrote

Trying to be an Evidenced-Based Researcher- Does This Work?

*  Answered some email, added to the Best Of blog post, and went in for dinner.

*  Back online at 6:45 p.m. to read, then did one page of 1871 UK census indexing (beautiful handwriting!), and worked in Find-a-Grave for awhile.  Got to Ebenezer Seaver listings.  Added several families to the database too.

My genealogy day - 27 February 2012

Two more days in February, and it's already the best month for Genea-Musings Stats ever.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Amanuensis Monday - Deed of Elizabeth H. Smith to Lucy Butterfield in Medfield in 1841.

*  Researched and wrote More on Conclusion-Based and Evidence-Based Genealogy.

*  Worked on the Blogging presentation for the Family History Fair.  Had to pretty much revise the whole presentation because of the changes in Blogger since two years ago.

*  Tried to do indexing, but it wouldn't let me on.  Researched and wrote I'm On It, But Not In It.

*  Went in at 5:30 for dinner, then watched TV until 6:45 p.m.  Back online to read, then tried to make a Custom Report for persons alive in 1940 in RM5, LFT7 or FTM2012 with little success.  Found link to RM5 mailing list with hints on how to do it in RM5 and made a list, but has 39 pages.  Pretty useless unless I can parse it more.  Ah, I could use the smaller database with only ancestral families! Experimented with the FTM Book Creator and made it work.

*  Tried Indexing again and was able to do one page that someone had become frustrated with.  The handwriting was difficult.  Took awhile to do that page!

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 10.5 hours.

*  Went off to church at 9:20 a.m., stayed for the Deacon desserts, and home by 12:15 p.m.

*  Jumped into Scanfest, and scanned 28 pages from the Richmond notebooks and also some Westminster VR pages.  Set up the FTM Book Creator and sent away for the key.  Answered some emails and Ancestry messages.  Synced my FTM 2012 file too.

*  Did one page of FSIndexing - terrible handwriting in Bucks.  Wrote CVGS Program on Wednesday, 29 February: Key Moments in Chula Vista History.  Also put it on the CV Genealogy Cafe blog, and wrote another post there.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV, eat dinner and read the paper.  Back online at 7 p.m.

*  Read everything, checked Facebook, added to the new Best Of post, then worked in Find-A-Grave for awhile.  Wrote this post.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Surname Saturday - LNU (Rhode Island) posted.

*  signed up for FamilySearch Indexing, watched the video, did the easy test, and indexed some 1871 UK census records.  Wrote Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - FamilySearch Indexing.  Indexed a bit more.

*  Listened to the MySociety Radio show with Whited, Kaufman and Oxley.  Good discussion.  Tepid chat board.  Indexed some more.

Follow-Up Friday - More on Evidence-Based and Conclusion-Based Genealogy.  Changed my blog background again.  That filled up the morning pretty well!

*  Left at 11:30 for the pharmacy, then McDonalds for lunch, and the bank.  The lines were too long at the gas station even though the price was only $4.05.

My genealogy day - 23 February 2012

My genealogy day started at 11 a.m. today - after we got home from our two day Disneyland extravaganza with the grandgirls and their parents.  My feet and legs are killing me after pushing Linda around Disneyland all day Wednesday.  I'm so glad that she used her walker on Tuesday!

*  Up at 7 p.m. to check out, ate at Carrows, checked my email and Facebook on the iphone there.  Hit the road by 8:45 a.m. and were home by 10 a.m.  Linda did her email for awhile and I caught up on mail and newspaper.

*  Checked email, answered some, filed some, then read blogs.  Got through about 400 posts and added some to the Best Of post.  Had lunch.

*  Back at it, wrote Ancestry.com's New Interactive Image Viewer.  Checked new FamilySearch databases too.

*  Went in at 4 p.m. to read the paper and take a nap.  Watched TV news, read the NGS Magazine, and we had dinner.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read the rest of the blogs (440 or so), then checked Facebook and Twitter.  Answered more email.  Did some random genealogy to add content to the database in the Metcalf family.  Then did really random genealogy for awhile just picking people off the list without any birth date and seeing what I can find.  Wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

*  Had lunch, and wrote Are You an Evidence-Based or a Conclusion-Based Genealogist?

*  Added information from the Cleaver book to the database for several families.  I think I've finished the ACPL material now after only 5 months.

*  Went in for dinner, then watched TV and read the paper and did the dishes.

My genealogy day - 19 February 2012

It was a fairly full genealogy Sunday.  Not all day, but significant.

U*  Read email and blogs, and got the Best Of post ready to go.  Went off to church at 9:15 a.m. for my committee meeting.

*  Home from church at 11:30 a.m., read everything, had lunch, then noted that Best of the Genea-Blogs - 12 to 18 February 2012 posted.

*  I have no immediate recollection of what I did for several hours this afternoon.  I know that I did not do any research online or any database work.  That's frustrating!  I know what it was - I wrote five posts for Tuesday through Thursday!  See, I only lose my mind occasionally, and then I usually find it.

*  I watched three of the videos from RootsTech and also made the hotel reservation for Anaheim this week.

*  Went in for dinner at 5:15 p.m. and watched TV and read the paper until 6 p.m.  Back online to read, add to the Best Of post, and answer some emails.

*  Went to Find-a-Grave at 7:30 p.m. and added a bunch of Seaver entries.  Got through #280 on the Seaver list.  I've actually done a lot more since I do the whole cemetery list of Seaver when I find more than one.  Added two new families also based on FAG and Ancestry census records.

*  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.

My genealogy day - 18 February 2012

It was a different genealogy day for me ... a visit to a new speaking venue with some surprises.  good ones!

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Surname Saturday - CHASE (England > Massachusetts) posted.

*  We left at 8:45 a.m. for Mission Viejo.  Listened to 50s and 60s music on CD on the way up.  Got to the LDS Church sat 10 a.m. just when the SOCCGS meeting started.  Their business meeting ended at 10:40 so I was able to get set up then and was ready when everyone came back from the break.  David flint introduced me, and off I went on my 60 minute tour of Ancestry.com searching.

*  It went well, I answered questions for awhile with individuals, and then we met the group down at the local Carrow's for lunch.  That was fun...their society seems to be thriving - they're well organized, their officers are accessible and industrious, and the meeting was very smooth.

*  We headed for home at 2 p.m. and had traffic all the way down to Del Mar when it finally broke up.  We were home by 3:45 - it took 30 minutes longer to get home than to go up.  We listened to the 60s usic and then Beach Boys music, but heard the last 6 minutes of the Aztecs basketball game too.

*  I noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Ancestral Name Roulette had posted and tweeted/plused it.  Went in at 4:15 to watch TV news, read the paper and take a nap after the drive.  We had dinner, and I watched TV until 6:30 p.m.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, then did 1902-1904 in the SSDI for Seaver births, and then answered an Ancestry mail about one family in the northwest.  Added some info to the database from this and a well-documented AMT.

*  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, added new blogs to the Reader, and wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

*  We left at 1 p.m. for University city library, got there at 1:30 and got set up.  Had over 50 attendees in a small room.  Very responsive audience, that was great.  Lots of questions.  My "This is Your Life..." thing seemed to be a hit too.

*  We left at 3:45 and went to the Hunter in Mission Valley for dinner.  Home by 6:30 p.m.

*  Online at 6:30, answered some email, registered for Legacy cruise in May, checked Facebook, did a little research on John R Hall, and added to the Best Of post.  Did 1900-1901 on the SSDI for Seaver.  Wrote this post.

*  Worked for quite a while in SSDI, California Deaths, California Marriages and California Births, and GenealogyBank to find data for descendants of DJ and Abbie (Vaux) Smith, especially the spouses of the Smith kids. My genealogy days - 9 and 10 February 2012

I know, I missed writing my journal last night.  It's not like I have a perfect record, is it?

1)  Thursday, 9 February:

*  Watched some of Josh Taylor's talk and Thomas MacEntee's talk at RootsTech.

*  Wrote Glimpses of GEDCOM X.  Wrote Genealogy Days in Chula Vista - February 2012 and

February 2012 CVGS Newsletter is Available.

*  Worked on the Genea-Musings template again - got the Link roll updated and alphabetized.  Somehow it reverted back to about 5 years ago when I changed to new Blogger. That took a long time.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to have dinner, read the paper and watch the news.  Linda had a GNO tonight.

*  Back online at 6:30 p.m. to watch Lisa Cooke's video and Ron Tanner's video at RootsTech.

*  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post and the RootsTech blog post, and wrote this post.

My genealogy day - 6 February 2012

Today was a really full genealogy day.  I got two major tasks finished, and several just started.

We returned from Salt Lake City on Sunday afternoon - got home at 4:45 p.m. just in time to see the end of the first half of the Super Bowl.  Unpacked everything, read the mail and papers, and watched the game.  Didn't do much in the way of genealogy.

Monday, 6 February:

*  Read my email and blogs, wrote Interesting RootsTech 2012 Blog Posts.  Started working on the CVGS Newsletter (it was about 50% done before we left) and had it finished by 12 noon.  Edited it, saved it, and had lunch.

*  Wrote One more chance to win an iPad from RootsMagic and then A plea: Put a link to your blog post in your blog post.   Exported Genea-Musings as a backup to the makeover.

*  Left at 2 p.m. for the UPS Store to publish the CVGS Newsletter.  Home by 2:30 p.m. to read, then upload all of my pictures from the iPhone and copied all of my microfilm scans from the flash drive and organized them a bit.  Sorted the stuff in my laptop bag.  Emailed the CVGS list about the newsletter.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. for dinner, then read the paper and watched TV news until 6:30 p.m.

*  Listened to Myrt's webinar about RootsTech Conference, and printed off a number of syllabus articles to share on Wednesday.

*  Decided to switch from "old Blogger" to "new Blogger."  It went smoothly.  Got my new template, changed font sizes, font colors, page widths, added labels, links, counter, email, and archives.  Shoulda done it a long time ago, I know!

*  Wrote A Genea-Musings Makeover and then added to the Best Of post and the RootsTech post, checked Facebook and wrote this post.
