Genea-Journal - Monday, 2 March 2020

I'm back from RootsTech and ready to roll.  It seemed easier this time, perhaps because I didn't walk as much (didn't have Linda to push in the wheelchair) and took Trax to the hotel.  I averaged about 9,000 steps from Wednesday to Saturday, or about 3 miles each day.

My exploits at RootsTech are on Genea-Musings - see:

*  Randy's RootsTech Recap - Day 1 (Wednesday) (29 February 2020)
*  Randy's RootsTech Recap - Day 2 (Thursday) (29 February 2020)
*  Randy's RootsTech Recap - Day 3 (Friday) (29 February 2020)
*  Randy's RootsTech Recap - Day 4 (Saturday) (1 March 2020)

I got home on Sunday before noon, and read and blogged a bit and didn't journal.  didn't do any searching or data input either.  On Monday:

*  Dropped Linda at the Y , home to read, add to the Best Of and compendium posts, and noted that

*  Picked her up at 8:45 a.m., and home to get into Mondays With Myrt where we talked a lot about RootsTech.

* Wrote The GeneaBloggers Lifetime Achievement Award and had lunch, then took a nap.

*  Online at 1:45 p.m. to answer email, read blogs and wrote Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 2 March 2020.  Checked Twitter and Facebook.  Added to the compendium and Best Of posts.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to cook dinner, we ate, watched TV news, read the paper, and washed dishes.

*  Added to the new Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was about 6 hours.

Not sure if I'll be on here until after we get back.

My Genealogy Sunday and Monday - 5-6 February 2017

Well, I watched the Super Bowl Sunday and goofed off a bit on Monday.

By the way, this blog will be dark until next Monday - we're off to RootsTech on Tuesday.

1)  Sunday, 5 February:

*  Read email and blogs while watching Meet the Depressed, then off to church at 9:40 and home by 11:20.

*  Finished up the Best of the Genea-Blogs -- 29 January to 4 February 2017 post.  Transcribed the probate record for Amanuensis Monday.  Had lunch, then wrote the Amanuensis post.

*  Went in at 3 p.m. to watch the Super bowl pre-game, and dozed a bit in the recliner.  Awake for the kickoff and the game.  The commercials were pretty bad this year.  The halftime show was pretty good - loved the drones and the flying Gaga.  Was happy the Falcons were going to win until they didn't.  Had the premonition of the outcome late in the third period.  Falcons looked like the Chargers did all year.

*  Online at 8 p.m. to read, noted that Added or Updated Databases at Ancestry.com - Week of 29 January to 4 February 2017 posted.  Finished up the CVGS newsletter and emailed it out.  New printer ink cartridge solved the printing problem, whew!

*  Checked Facebook, answered email, and didn't journal.  Genealogy this day was 5.0 hours.

2)  Monday, 6 February:

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read email and blogs, picked her up, and joined Mondays With Myrt.  Didn't share much because they were at the FHL talking to visitors.

*  Noted that Added or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 29 January to 4 February 2017 and Amanuensis Monday -- 1724 Will of Jonathan Hubburd (1659-1728) of Concord, Mass. and wrote Family History Library Unveils Salt Lake City’s Newest Attraction.  Had lunch, and wrote a blog post for Tuesday.

*  Printed off the newsletter master and the mail list, and off to the UPS Store - got the issue mailed, and home by 2 p.m.

*  Wrote another Tuesday blog post, took a nap, then we went to the neighbors to ask them to take in our mail.  Talked for an hour, then home for dinner, watching TV and reading the paper.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, then wrote a Wednesday post, and added to the Best Of post.  Answered email, and checked Facebook.  Packed for the trip.  Copied stuff to my flash drive and got everything but my phone and charger in the laptop case.  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

Just another beautiful day in paradise...at least for a few days.

*  Had lunch, noted that Added or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 22 to 28 January 2017 and Amanuensis Monday - 1692 Probate Records for Henry Garnsey (1620-1692) Estate posted.

*  Watched some TV, dozed for 30 minutes, then online at 2:30 p.m. to check Facebook and write  Dear Randy: Tell Me More About Your One-Name Studies.

*  Went out in the front yard and picked weeds and leaves for awhile until Linda came home.  Watched TV news, read the paper, are dinner, and washed dishes.

*  Online at 7:30 p.m. to read, then wrote the Tuesday post, and added to the Best Of post.  Checked Facebook.  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, came home to read email and blogs, picked her up at 9 z.m., and home, but then left to the car dealer for maintenance on the Altima.  It's been a year and 5,000 miles.  Took the newspaper, phone and tablet and got some reading done.

*  Home by 11:15 a.m. to read, noted that 52 Ancestors - Week 161: #226 Matthias Trimmer (1722-1793) of New Jersey posted, and wrote New Records to Search This Findmypast Friday, 27 January 2017.

My Genealogy Friday - 13 January 2017

One more weekend left in October - the time sure flies when you have deadlines to meet and places to go!  And when you're having fun!

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, picked her up, and we went grocery shopping.  Home at 9:40 a.m.

*  Noted that 1732 Baptism of Anna Van Vorst in Schenectady, N.Y. -- Treasure Chest Thursday Post #337 posted last night by mistake, so changed the date to today.

My Genealogy Friday - 12 February 2016

I spent the day at home, but sure didn't get much done until tonight.  Where did the time go today?

*  Read email and blogs, updated the Best Of and RootsTech compendium posts, and wrote 52 Ancestors - Week 111: #134 Jeremiah Knowlton (1745-1785).

*  Watched the Ron Tanner and Lisa Cooke videos from RootsTech while trying to move photos into file folders.  Not sure I learned anything.  Wrote Were Shubel and Rebecca (Mead) Knapp the Parents of William Knapp (1775-1856)?

*  Took a 90 minute nap...up at 3:45 p.m. to read, answer email, add to the compendium post, and check Facebook.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV and read the paper, then do the dishes.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, write the two Saturday posts, then researched and wrote Searching the New Findmypast U.S. Marriage Collection.

*  Worked through about 100 Ancestry Hints adding content and sources to the database.  sources now at 69,332.

*  Read email and blogs, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

My Genealogy Day - 11 February 2016

12 blog posts, one ancestor researched, FHL photos transferred, a visit to the care center, and dinner out.  That was my day!

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Treasure Chest Thursday Post 300: 1777 Military Records of Jeremiah Knowlton (1745-1785)Suzanne Winsor Freeman Memorial Student Genealogy Grant Applications Invited and Findmypast Announces Strategic Investment In Twile, Winner of Two Innovation Awards at RootsTech 2016 and set them about two hours apart.

*  I had neglected the CVGS blog for two weeks, so wrote 7 blog posts there, including the Research Group summary from Wednesday.

*  Transferred the FHL photos from the iCloud file to the FHL folder in To be filed.  159 of them.  Haven't named them yet.  Answered email and added to the Best Of and RootsTech Compendium posts.

*  Had lunch, then wrote RootsTech 2016 Highlights: What's Coming for Ancestry.com?  Took a well-deserved nap!

*  We left at 2:45 p.m. for Barbara's to visit and take her mail.  Went to El Pollo Loco for dinner and Coldstone for ice cream, and home by 6 p.m.  Watched TV news and read the paper.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to work on Jeremiah Knowlton's events.  Searched for deeds and found three, downloaded, named and abstracted them.  Then wrote notes for all of the events, added them into the Person note, and sourced everything.  Need to write the post on Friday.

*  Answered email, downloaded CVGS photos from Diane and put them in the CVGS file, added to the RootsTech Compendium post, checked Facebook and wrote this post (#12 for the day).  Whew.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.
