My Genealogy Tuesday and Wednesday - 30-31 May 2017

I didn't do al ot of genealogy research these two days - the Padres game on Tuesday and the CVGS program meeting limited my time.

1)  Tuesday, 30 May 2017:

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, came home to read, picked her up, home by 9:15 a.m. and I noted that Treasure Chest Tuesday -- 1818 Marriage of Ole Olsen and Ingeborg Botolffsdtr in Voss, Norway posted.  We left at 9:40 a.m. for Linda's dental hygienist appointment at 10.  I went to the library.

*  Home by 11 a.m., I wrote MyHeritage Launches New Comprehensive DNA Ethnicity Analysis.  Took a short nap, then had lunch.

*  Online at 12:30 p.m. to read, then wrote My Ethnicity Analysis From MyHeritage DNA.  Added to the Best Of post and the News Bytes posts.

*  I left at 2:40 p.m. for the dentist office to get my crown installed.  Was home by 4 p.m.

*  Noted that Genealogy News Bytes - 30 May 2017 posted.  Answered email and checked Facebook.

*  We left at 5 p.m. for the trolley, got to Tin Fish by 6 p.m. , had dinner, and into Petco Park by 6:45 p.m.  Padres beat the Cubs 6-2 so we're now 4-3 in person, and 21-33 on the season.  We were home by 11 p.m., but I didn't journal.  Genealogy this day was only 5.0 hours.

2)  Wednesday, 31 May 2017:

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up, and we were home by 9 a.m.  Noted that SCGS Jamboree 2012 Photos, Part 2 - Post 466 for (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted.  Wrote SCGS Genealogy Jamboree Plans - Friday Events and set it for later.  Added to the Best Of post.

*  Took a nap, then left at 11 a.m. for lunch at McDonalds and then to the Chula Vista Library for the CVGS program meeting at noon.  Had snacks afterward, and home by 2:30 p.m.

*  Watched the end of the Padres game - we won 2-1 over the Cubs, so now 22-33 on the season and we've won 4 in a row.

*  Online at 3:30 p.m. to read, checked Facebook, and wrote Comparison of My Autosomal DNA Ethnicity Estimates.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to eat dinner, read the paper, watch TV, put out the trash, and do the dishes.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, worked in FamilySearch Family Tree correcting errors made on my Watch List, and then wrote the Treasure Chest Thursday post.  Computer and Internet got real slow, so rebooted.  Still slow!

My Genealogy Sunday - 28 May 2017

This was a fairly typical genealogy Sunday, although I spent more time online than usual.

*  Home from church at 11:15 to eat lunch, read, started the new Best Of post, and went in to watch the Padres and Indy 500 on TV.  Padres had a rain delay and didn't start until after noon.  Indy had a big crash with 15 laps to go, and I missed the finish - saw the victory lap and milk dousing though.  Took a nap, read the paper, and my Padres won 5-3 over the Nationals.  A 3-3 road trip and now 19-33 on the season.

My Genealogy Tuesday and Wednesday - 16-17 May 2017

It's May gray in San Diego - highs in the 60s, lows in the 50s, and overcast most of the day.  They are good days to work in the yard or hide in the cave.  The Padres are in a death spiral.

1)  Tuesday, 16 May:

*  Dropped Linda, read email and blogs, picked her up, and we went to the grocery store.

*  Home by 9:45 a.m. to note that Treasure Chest Tuesday -- 1796 Marriage of Torjer Olsen and Anna Siursdtr in Voss, Norway and to write up Pennsylvania Genealogy on American Ancestors is Free for May 16-23, 2017.

*  Worked in Ancestry for awhile on database people, then took a nap.  Up at noon to review the hillside guy and pay him.  The hillside weeds have been whacked.  If it doesn't rain, we're good until December.  He may do the fence for us.

*  Had lunch, then online to read, work in FamilySearch Family Tree, check Facebook, and clean up the database a bit.  Added to the Best Of post and answered email.  Wrote the Wordless post.  I have no clue where the time went.

*  didn't even look at the computer.  Finally got to sleep at midnight.  Genealogy this day was 6.5 hours.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up, got home and left at 9:20 a.m. for the SDGS meeting in San Diego.

*  Got there at 9:45, talked to Linda for a bit, heard Linda's first talk, but had to leave at 11:30.  Headed home and to Costco for Mother's Day flowers for Linda, home at 12:30.  Took a nap in the recliner watching girls softball.

*  Online to note that Surname Saturday -- BULLEN (England to colonial New England) and Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - A Tribute to Your Mother posted.

*  We left at 2:50 p.m. for the 99 Cent Store, then to Carlsbad to have dinner with Tami's family.  Got to see the kids, had a nice dinner at Miguel's, and we were home by 7 p.m.

*  Watched the end of the Padres game, they lost 5-4 to White Sox in the 9th.  Drat.  A winnable game.  Wrote the weekly Ancestry and FamilySearch posts.  Checked Facebook but didn't journal.  Genealogy this day was 5.0 hours.

2)  Sunday, 14 May 2017:

*  Read email and blogs while watching Meet the Depressed and fox News Sunday, then off to church by 9:30.  We were greeters.  Home by 11:20 a.m. to watch the Padres game.  We were ahead 3-1 in the 8th and lost 9-3 to White Sox on 8 run 8th inning.  Crap.  So now 14-25 on the season.

*  Online at 2:30 p.m. to read, noted that Best of the Genea-Blogs - 7 to 13 May 2017 posted, and answered email.

*  We left at 4 p.m. for dinner at Marie Callenders, and dessert at Coldstone Creamery, and home by 6 p.m.

*  Read, added to the Best Of post, and transcribed a will and wrote the Amanuensis Monday post.  Noted that Added or Updated Databases at Ancestry.com - Week of 7 to 13 May 2017 posted.  Checked Facebook.

*  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 5.0 hours.

My Genealogy Friday - 12 May 2017

It's Friday already?  And 12 days into May?  Where does the sand in the hourglass go?  Today brought one more challenge completed.  Not in genealogy, of course.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up and home by 9:10 a.m.  Noted that 52 Ancestors - Week 175: #254 Mulford Martin (1763-????) of New Jersey and New York posted, and wrote New Records Available To Search This Findmypast Friday, 12 May 2017 and "Journal of Genetic Genealogy" is Revived, and Free to Access and set them for later.

*  Called AAA at 10:15 to get the Lincoln jumped, and they came by 10:40.  Jumped it, and I drove it down to Don's for service.  He hooked it up to the battery charger right away.  Had to walk the mile home (uphill most of the way, I stopped twice to catch my breath) but I was home by 11:30.  The car may be ready on Monday.  Another life task completed - next is probably the fence and the trust.

*  Added to the Best Of and NGS blogs, and then took my nap.  Up at 12:30 and had lunch, then online to see what mischief I could find.  Worked in the database for awhile trying to find data for families - had some success adding content and sources to several Seaver families.  Also did some matching in FamilySearch Family Tree.

*  Was going to write a We're Related post but realized that I needed to write the two Saturday posts, so I did.  Checked Twitter and Facebook too.

*  Went in at 5:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game, eat dinner, read the paper, do the dishes and read my robert Crais book.  Padres won 6-3 over the Chicago White Sox, so now 14-22 on the season.

*  Online at 8:45 p.m. to read, add to the NGS post, and write this post.  Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

My Genealogy Thursday - 11 May 2017

This was not a great day - had to go to the dentist to start the last crown, and then the Padres blew the game in the 9th inning.  Drat.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up, we went to Ralph's for groceries.  Home by 9:40 a.m.

*  Noted that 1808 Death Record of Amos Plimpton (1735-1808) of Medfield, Mass. -- Post #364 of Treasure Chest Thursday posted and wrote "Mastering Genealogical Documentation" Book Released at NGS 2017 Conference.

*  Worked a bit on the 52 Ancestors biography, and then in FamilySearch Family Tree.  Took a short nap, had lunch.

*  Left at 11:40 a.m. for the dentist to have the filling in #2 (right upper back) tooth repalced with a crown.  Had to have a filling installed before the tooth was scaled down and the imressions taken and the temporary crown installed.  Two weeks, I hope it works out - I really don't want another root canal.  Home by 2 p.m.

*  Added to the Best Of and NGS posts, then researched and wrote Seavers in the News -- Fred Seaver Thrown in the Lake in 1925.  Checked Facebook, dozed in my computer chair, and answered email, then added to the Best Of and NGS posts.  Worked some more on the 52 Ancestors biography.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. to watch the Padres game, eat dinner, read the paper, and read more of my Crais book (I think I've read this one before but I can't recall the outcome).  I hate it when that happens.  Padres lost 5-2 to the Rangers who had a walkoff 3-run homer in the 9th.

*  Online at 8 p.m. to read, then wrote May 11th Update on Family Tree Maker 2017 Release and wrote the 52 Ancestors post.

*  Checked Facebook, wrote this post, and I'm done.  Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

My Genealogy Tuesday and Wednesday -- 9 and 10 May 2017

Tuesday was my daughter's 43rd birthday - time sure flies, doesn't it.  I think I say that several times a week on this journal!  The weather has been cool and misty, lots of May gray and some breeze.  These were not big genealogy days - mostly blogging.

1)  Tuesday, 9 May 2017:

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up, and home to note that Treasure Chest Tuesday - 1827 Death Record for Torjer Olsen in Voss, Norway posted.

*  Added to the Best Of post and answered email, and worked in AncestryDNA matches for richman cousins.  Found a problem (I thought) - more later.  Rested my eyes for awhile.

*  We left after 11 a.m. for El Pollo Loco for lunch, then to the trolley, and off to Petco Park for the Padres game.  got there just after first pitch and Padres weren't behind for the first two batters.  A dreadful game - we lost 11-0 to the Rangers and it wasn't that close.  Cool too, high around 63, I dressed warmly.  We got to Lolita's for dinner at about 4:45 p.m. and home by 5:30 p.m.

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote Down the DNA Rabbit Hole With Two Mary/Maria Richmans about the Richman issue.  I think I figured it out - I was missing the daughter Mary.

*  Checked Facebook, wrote the Wordless Wednesday post, and was tired, so didn't journal.  Genealogy this day was 5.0 hours.

2)  Wednesday, 10 May 2017

*  Dropped Linda off, read email and blogs, picked her up and home by 9:10 a.m.  Noted that Day 9 on the 2012 Legacy Cruise At Sea -- Post 463 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted and wrote Linda Serna is Presenter at SDGS Meeting on Saturday, 13 May and NGS Releases Two Newly Revised Guide Books for Tennessee and North Carolina and set them for later.  Also wrote the NGS blog compendium and set it for afternoon.

*  Left at 11 a.m. for lunch at McDonalds and then to the library for John's group and then my CVGS Research Group meeting at noon.  We had 15 including two newbies.  Got another book, and home by 2:30.  Really tired, so napped a bit.

*  Online at 3 p.m. to read, checked Facebook, checked AncestryDNA some more, and added to the Best Of post.  Noted that 2017 National Genealogical Society (NGS) Conference Compendium posted.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to help with dinner, then watched the Padres game, read the paper, took out the trash, finished my Grisham book, and started the Crais book.  Washed dishes too.  Padres lost to Rangers 4-3, so now 13-22 on the season.  This was one we could have won.  Drat.

*  Online at 8:45 p.m. to read, add to the NGS post, and wrote the Treasure Chest post for Thursday.  Checked out the subject for 52 Ancestors and found I have no records at all for him, just online trees and some census records.  Checked Facebook and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

My Genealogy Monday - 8 May 2017

Another week has started, and things are still not getting done here - the garage, the trust, the car, but some genealogy gets done almost every day, and my Padres play almost every day (not yesterday - they were rained out!).  Priorities...

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, picked her up, and home by 9 a.m. and I joined Mondays With Myrt in progress.  I contributed a bit on RootsMagic and on the National City Birth Register.

*  Really sleepy after that, but edited the CVGS newsletter one last time, printed off the master copy, and then took a nap.

*  Up at noon, had lunch, noted that Added or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 30 April to 6 May 2017 and Amanuensis Monday -- Probate Records of John Freeman (1626-1719) of Eastham, Mass. - Part 2 posted.  Answered email and added to the Best Of post.  Wrote RootsMagic Provides Video Demonstrating Ancestry.com TreeShare and WebHints.

*  Left at 1:30 p.m. for the UPS Store to copy, fold, stamp and label the 15 newsletters we sent to members without email, and then went to Ralph's to grocery shop.  Home by 3 p.m.

*  Checked Twitter and Facebook, worked a bit in Ancestry finding random persons in the RootsMagic database adding content and sources.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV news, eat dinner and read the paper.  Online at 6 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and write the Treasure Chest Tuesday post.

*  Went in at 7:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, do the dishes and read my Grisham book.  Padres beat Rangers 5-1 so we're now 13-20 on the season.  We go on Tuesday - the game is at 12:40 p.m.
