My Genealogy Thursday and Friday - 30-31 August 2018

If it's Friday, it must be the end of the month.  I missed journaling last night because the Padres game was over at 11 p.m.

1)  Thursday - 30 August:

*  Dropped Linda, home to read, picked her up, home to write blog posts, work on the DNA talk, nap, write more blog posts, do some random research, write another blog post, check Twitter and Facebook, answer email, add to the Best Of post, eat dinner, water the front plants, wash dishes, write blog post, watch Padres game, read paper, read book, Padres win 3-2 in 13 innings.  Hooray!  Genealogy this day was about 7.5 hours.

2)  Friday - 31 August:

*  Dropped Linda, home to read, picked her up, home to write blog posts,  nap, write more blog posts, do some random research, write more blog posts, check Twitter and Facebook, answer email, add to the Best Of post, eat dinner, watch TV news.

*  Watched the Aztecs game - started well, lead 7-2 late in the second quarter and gave it up in the second half, lost 31-10 to Stanford.  Crap.  Watched Padres game too, they won 7-0.  Now won 4 straight, and 54-83 on the season.  They haven't lost since Urias came aboard, and four rookie pitchers have done well this week.  Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

3)  Here are the numbers from my RootsMagic database as of 31 August (with increases in the numbers from 31 June in parentheses):

*  50,659 persons (+ 226)
*  20,482  families  (+ 104)

Pretty good progress there, even though I have been working on my CVGS project, plus the Padre games take several hours almost every day.

My Genealogy Tuesday and Wednesday - 28-29 August 2018

I missed journaling on Tuesday night because we went to the Padres game.

1)  Tuesday - 28 August 2018:

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read, picked her up, and home by 9:15 a.m.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Treasure Chest Tuesday - 1939 San Diego State College School Yearbook Page for Phi Sigma Nu Sorority and RootsTech Announces 2019 Plans for International Event in London posted.   Wrote   Trying Out the FamilySearch Compare-a-Face App and set it for later.

*  Worked on the DNA presentation - added another 20 slides, and almost done now.  I need to proof it and add more details and make the handout now.   Tried to nap.

*  Had lunch at 12:30 p.m. then online to add to the Best Of post, and eventually worked on the   Genealogy News Bytes - 28 August 2018 post.  Checked Twitter and Facebook.  Wrote the Wordless Wednesday post.

*  Worked a bit in Family Tree matching profiles and exchanging data. Answered email.

*  We left at 5 p.m. for the trolley, te dinner at Tin Fish, and were in Petco Park by 6:40 p.m. for the 7:10 game.  Padres won 2-1 in a 2 hour 13 minute game, but we didn't get home until 10:30 p.m.  Pads are now 51-83, and we are 7-9 on the season in person.

*  Genealogy this day was 7.0 hours.

2)  Wednesday, 29 August:

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up and went to the grocery store.  Home by 9:40 a.m.

*  Noted that More Jamboree 2014 Photos - Post 530 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted, added to the Best Of post, and wrote Post 12,000 on Genea-Musings.

*  Took a short nap.  Up at 11 a.m. to eat lunch, then off to the library for the CVGS meeting.

*  CVGS meeting started at noon, Annette Hubbell on Warrior Women.  Pretty good.  I much prefer more slide content because I don't catch everything said these days.

*  Home by 2:15 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, doze in the recliner.  Padres beat Mariners 8-3, so now 52-83 on the season.

*  online at 4 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook and Twitter, and worked on some MyHeritage record matches adding content to the RootsMagic database.

*  Went in at 5:30 to get dinner up, started the laundry, we ate, watched TV news, put out the trash cans, and washed dishes.

*  Watched two webinars, then wrote Monday Genea-Pourri - 27 August 2018.  Checked Twitter and Facebook.  Worked a bit in RootsMagic matching Family Tree profiles and sharing information.  Where did the time go?

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, write the Treasure Chest post, and then worked more in RootsMagic in Family Tree and then random web hints.  TreeShared the big tree, but only 40 were changed.

My Genealogy Sunday - 26 August 2018

This was a pretty typical Summer Sunday - church, baseball, genealogy.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Added or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 19 to 25 August 2018 posted.  got the transcription started.

*  Off to church at 9:15 a.m., and home by 11:15.  Finished up the transcription and wrote the amanuensis post for Monday.

*  Went in at 12 noon to eat lunch, then watched the LLWS championship game.  Excellent game by Hawaii.  Love the coach's attitude.  Then watched the Padres game.  Read the paper, and dozed a bit.  They did well until the 5th, and Dodgers won 7-3, so now 50-83 on the season and lost five straight.

*  Online at 3:30 p.m. to read, noted that Best of the Genea-Blogs - 19 to 25 August 2018 posted, start the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and worked on resolving Ancestry Hints in the big tree.

My Genealogy Saturday - 25 August 2018

Didn't sleep well, less than 6 hours overnight, exhausted all morning.  Back to normal temps - 79 F today, and 70 F overnight.  I feel like I got something done today, unlike Friday.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, noted that Surname Saturday -- ALLEN (England to colonial New England) posted.  Picked her up at 9 a.m. and we went to the grocery store.  Home by 9:40 a.m.  Got laundry started.

*  Online at 9:45, wrote the SNGF post, added to the Best Of and FGS posts, answered email, and took a nap.

*  Online at 11:30 a.m. to read, then worked on the FamilySearch and Ancestry posts, and had lunch.

*  Worked on the DNA presentation, adding about 15 more slides and editing what I have.  It's about 60% done now, I think.  Downloaded a new set of segment matches from 23andMe, and edited the spreadsheet to use in the presentation.

*  Noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Earliest Known Birth Date in Your Family Tree posted, and also Added or Updated Ancestry.com Record Collections - Week of 19 to 25 August 2018.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. to fix dinner, we ate, then watched Chargers game, and then watched Padres game.  I read the paper, watered the front plants, washed dishes, checked email and blogs on the laptop and read my ebook, and Padres tied it 4-4 in the 9th inning against Dodgers.  There was a 30 minute blackout at 9:30 in the bottom of the 12th, and when the lights were back on it took one pitch for the Padres to lose the game, 5-4.  So now 50-82.  Drat.

*  Online at 10 p.m. to read, check Facebook, then write this post.  Genealogy today was 6.5 hours.

Friday, August 24, 2018

*  Went in at 12:30 p.m. to eat lunch, watch the Padres game, read the paper, doze in the recliner.  Padres lost to Rockies 4-3 on a two out 9th inning walkoff homer.  So now 50-80 on the season.

*  dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, noted that 1695 Birth Record of Mary Chase in Newbury, Massachusetts - Post 424 for Treasure Chest Thursday posted.  Looked for a Seaver article and found a good one - transcribed it.  Added info to RootsMagic too.

*  Picked Linda up at 9:30 and we went to Costco to shop, then had a hot dog for lunch.  Home by 10:40 a.m.

*  Worked on the Seavers in the News -- Walter Enwright Seaver Receives Testimonials in 1935 post.

*  Went in at 11:30 a.m. to watch the Padres game, dozed in the recliner, read the paper, and was resigned to a loss, behind 4-2 in the 9th inning.  Three walks, a hit, an out, a grand slam and another homer made it a great 8-4 victory over the Brewers.  So 4-3 on the road trip to the two best teams in the NL, and now 46-71 on the season.

*  Online to read, added to the Best Of post, checked Twitter and Facebook, and then added slides to the Conference presentation about RootsTech.  almost done in time for next Wednesday!

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV news, and washed dishes.  Watered the front plants.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to work on the 52 Ancestors post, then TreeShared about 40 profiles on the big tree, and wrote the Amanuensis Monday post ahead of time.  Added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  I'll be a blogging fool on Monday!  Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.
