My Semi-Genealogy Thursday and Friday - 30-31 July 2015

These were not big genealogy days because we picked up Audrey at Thursday noon for the weekend.

1)  Thursday, 30 July 2015:

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 273: Birth Record of John Underhill (1745-1816) in Chester, N.H.  Answered email.

*  I left at 10:15 a.m. for Carlsbad to pick up Audrey.  We had lunch at Blaze Pizza.  Even got to see and play with Charlie a bit.  Was home by 12:45 p.m.  Watched til the end of the Padres game after a 3 hour rain delay.  Padres beat Mets 8-7.

*  Was online off and on during the afternoon, and finally wrote British Royals Website.

*  Played with Audrey, we ate dinner at home, and I worked a bit on the 52 Ancestor biography guy getting it ready to write about.  Don't remember much here... genealogy was probably about 6.0 hours total.

2)  Friday, 31 July 2015:

*  Audrey slept in until 9:30, which gave me time to read email and blogs, and write 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 83: #98 Cornelius Feather (1777-1853).

*  Refrigerator guy came twice to get it back up and running - he left around 11:45 a.m.  It will take 24 hours to get to full cold.

*  Answered email, and wrote Lesson Learned Again: Don't Trust Online Family Trees around playing with Audrey, lunch, etc.  Took a nap too.

*  Watched the first 3 innings of the Padres game, we went to dinner at El Pollo Loco, and home by 6:15 p.m. to watch the end of the game.  Refrigerator had water all over thek itchen floor for some reason, mopped it up, and there's been no more since.   Padres won 8-3 in 11 innings, so now 50-53, and have won 11 of 15.  They made no trades of consequence...

*  Online at 7:30 p.m. to write the Surname Saturday post, work some with Audrey, check Facebook, answer email, and write this post.  Genealogy today was about 7.0 hours.

My Genealogy Wednesday - 29 July 2015

Two more days left in July.  This was almost an all-genealogy day again, except for the Padres game.  The weekend won't be - we get the grandgirls tomorrow.

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote Megan Smolenyak on the 2008 TMG Cruise -- Post 371 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and then CVGS August 1st Saturday Workshop: "RootsMagic Genealogy Software" and set it for later.

*  Joined Wednesdays With Myrt and talked about the SSA&C database, showed off the fake lawn, and commented on issues of the hour.

*  Left at 11:10 a.m. for McDonalds for lunch, then to the Bonita library for the CVGS program.  Got there before noon and helped set up chairs.  A long business meeting, then Gabe did his talk on the 1915 Panama-California Exposition in San Diego.  He did about 90 minutes.  I got home by 3:15 p.m.

*  Read, added to the Best Of post, and wrote Answers from everyStory to my Questions and Comments.

*  Went in to watch the Padres game, eat dinner, read the paper, put out the trash, and read my book.  Pads won 7-3 over Mets, so now 48-53 with two days to trading deadline and no action.

*  Online at 7:30 p.m. to read, then wrote a post for Thursday, answered email, did some searching for Underhill records without success, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was

My Geneaholic Tuesday - 28 July 2015

This was almost an all genealogy day at home.  Fake grass project completed today too!  Finally.  Now the refrigerator is the problem.  We didn't get the grandgirls today because of illness.  Maybe next week?

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Tuesday's Tip: Fold3.com has War of 1812 Pension Files Through M Surnames for FREE posted.

*  Searched in PERSI for Sever and Kingston without much success.  Same in Mocavo.  Found some Kingston tax assessor records for the house.

*  Answered email, added to the Best Of post, and checked Facebook.

*  We left at 11:30 p.m. for Costco for lunch and shopping.  Home by 1:10 p.m.

*  Read, worked on the RootsMagic class handout.  Went in at 2 p.;m. for a nap.

*  Online at 2:45 p.m to note that Crestleaf.com’s 12 Months of Fascinating Family Finds -- July 2015: James Vaux Death Notice in British Newspapers posted.

*  Researched and wrote More Ancestry.com Record Hints for my Ancestry Member Tree.

*  Went in at 4:30 p.m. to watch the Padres game, eat dinner, read the paper, start a new book, wash dishes, water the front plants, and admire the fake grass.  Padres lost 4-0 to the Mets, so now 47-53 and sellers not buyers, I think.

*  At 6:45, read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and looked at changes in the FamilySearch Family Tree.  Edited several profiles and matched several families.

*  worked in Ancestry adding content and sources for Ma and Mc surnames.

*  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

My Genealogy Sunday and Monday - 26 and 27 July 2015

These were busy days, and I even got some genealogy done.

1)  Sunday, 26 July 2015

*  Read email and blogs, and finished up the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 19 to 25 July 2015 post.

*  We went to church at 9:30 a.m., home by 11:30 a.m.  I worked on Linda's prayer chain for an hour, then wrote Added or Updated Databases at Ancestry.com - Week of July 19 to 25, 2015 and set it for later, plus a post for Monday.

*  Went in at 1 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and read my Reacher book.  Padres beat Marlins 3-2, so won 8 of last 11, now 47-52, but still 8 out of first place.

*  Online at 4 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and look for more William Sever data.  Not much luck.

*  We went out to dinner at the Barbecue Pit at 5:15, stopped by Cold Stone for dessert, and brought ice home for the cooler.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, then worked two hours on the transcription of the William Sever probate distribution, and wrote Amanuensis Monday - Post 278: 1811 Division of Lands of William Sever (1729-1809) of Kingston, Mass.

*  Checked Facebook, answered email, and didn't journal.  Bad me.  Genealogy this day was 5 hours.

2)  Monday, 27 July 2015:

*  Read email and blogs, and tried to join the Mondays With Myrt but they canceled.  Reviewed my OASIS presentation.

*  Went off to OASIS at 9:35 a.m. and taught my 4th class.  Another one completed.  Home by 12:50 p.m.

*  Read, noted that New or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - July 19-25, 2015 posted, and answered email. Worked on William Sever house maps.  Took a short nap.

*  Wrote two CVGS blog posts and copied it to CVGS Program on Wednesday, 29 July 2015: "The History of the 1915 Panama-California Exposition" and set it for later.

*  Wrote two posts for Tuesday but messed them both up and they posted immediately, so deleted and redid them for the right date.  Took another nap.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to eat dinner and watch TV, read the paper and wash dishes.  Back online at 6:30 p.m. to read, then answer email, check Facebook, and work in the database getting first names in the first name field in RootsMagic.  Got the database done except for the "Unknown" surname persons.  Gotta get rid of those now.

*  Worked in the database some more adding content and sources for the Ma surname persons.  Checked Facebook.  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 11.0 hours.

My Genealogy Saturday - 25 July 2015

One more week left in July, then August, the fall, Christmas.  Time sure flies when you're busy and having genea-fun!

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Surname Saturday -- DUNHAM (England > Holland > colonial Massachusetts) posted and wrote Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Ancestor With Most Census Entries and set it for later.

*  Left at 9:30 a.m. for the FamilySearch Center, got there at 9:50, looked for surname books for several families, but found nothing useful.  Went into the classroom at 10:10 for the SDGS  RootsMagic class, and Bonnie taught it, with 10 attendees.  I'm doing it next month.

*  Home by 12:45 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and reviewed  50 more Seaver entries from the SSA&C database.  Took a 45 minute nap.  Online again at 3:30 to do 50 more, so now have done 150.  Answered email, checked Facebook.

*  Went in at 5:10 p.m. to watch TV, eat dinner, water the front yard, and watch the Padres game.  Read the paper, then my book, and did dishes.  Padres beat Marlins 3-1, another well-pitched game and enough hitting to win.  If they had won the three game  lost at home this week, we'd have a 10 game winning streak and be 49-49.  But we're 46-52, and 8 games out of the wild card.

*  Online at 8:50 p.m. to read, check Facebook, add to the Best Of post, and write this post.  I think I'll do some random Ancestry searches out of the database for awhile.  Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

Friday, July 24, 2015

My Geneaholic Friday - 24 July 2015

This was another stay-at-home day, at least until dinner time.  The fake grass guys almost finished the job...but didn't.  The Padres won again.

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 82: #97 Maria Magdalena "Molly" (Hoax) Carringer (1768-1850).

*  Decided I'd better work on the 8/15 talk, but ended up going through some of the piles to find conference papers.  Threw out about 8 inches of paper in the process.  Found some of the missing notebooks too.  Still more piles to work through!

*  Noted that First Look at New AncestryHealth Feature posted.  Researched and wrote Adding and Tagging Photos in everyStory, a Cloud-Based Story-Sharing Platform and set it for later in the afternoon.  Took a nap.

*  Up at 3:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook and answer email.  Worked on the Surname Saturday post.

*  We left at 5:15 p.m. for dinner at Lolita's, then to Cold Stone for ice cream since the freezer is not working.

*  Home at 7 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, read my book, get the new RM7 on the laptop, and wash dishes.  Padres won 3-1, so now 45-52 on the season.  To win 88 games, they need to go 43-23 the rest of the way.  Not likely!

*  Online at 10 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post and write this post.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

Thursday, July 23, 2015

My Geneaholic Thursday - 23 July 2015

This was almsot an all genealogy day until the evening - we had to go to the Padres game and waste 6 hours which I could have used to do some research.  The fake lawn guys never came - it's 70% done.  The refrigerator guy came, said we needed parts, ordered them and now we have no cold for a week.
*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 272: 1810 U.S. Census Record for Amos Underhill Household in Piermont, N.H. and "Tracing Your Essex Ancestors" Seminar at NEHGS on 3 August 2015 and set it for later.

*  Answered email, and looked for more Nicholas Sever records without success.  Worked in AncestryHealth and wrote a blog post for Friday about it.  Worked on Mary Hoax profile some more.

*  Researched and wrote New Ancestry.com Database: U.S. Social Security Applications and Claims Index, 1936-2007.   The refrigerator guy came and did his thing.  It needs two new temperature controllers.

*  Took a nap at 3 p.m,., then worked in the SS mining Seaver folks, got through the first 50 of them.  Added to the Best Of post, and answered emails.  Checked Facebook too.

*  We left at 5:10 p.m. for the trolley, ate at the Tin Fish, and in Petco Park by 6:40.  Got Linda's freebie, and ice cream.  Padres lost 4-0 to Marlins, a terrible game.  We're now 5-7 in person, Pads are 43-51 on the season.

*  Home at 10:30 p.m. to read, then wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

Wednesday, July 22, 2015

My Genealogy Wednesday - 22 July 2015

This was almost an all genealogy day.  The front yard is still not finished, but about 80%.  The freezer is on the fritz and the Sears repair is coming on Thursday.  I still can't figure out how to change the clock on the new car.  The Quick Start book is not for this model.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote First Day on the 2008 TMG Cruise -- Post 370 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and then Genealogy Day in San Diego is Saturday, 10 October 2015 and set it for later.

*  Fixed the Henry Howland family data - captured the TAG and TGMB articles.  Downloaded some Family Tree Webinar handouts.

*  Left at 11:10 a.m. for lunch at McDonalds, then to the library for John's group and got two more books, then home by 12:30 p.m.  Read, answered email, then went in at 1 p.m. to watch the Padres game.  Read the paper, then my book, had a nap, Pads lost 7-1 to Giants, so now 43-51.  Drat.

*  Online at 3:45 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and wrote Family Tree Magazine: 101 Best Websites for Genealogy in 2015.  Checked Facebook.

*  Went in for dinner at 5:15, watched TV news, watered the front plants, put out the trash, and back online at 6:20 p.m.

*  Transcribed some of the Martin Carringer pension file papers and updated the Mary Hoax profile.

*  Had 559 matches for the 1920 Census on Ancestry, so got through 27 of them adding content and sources.  Even added a family for Linda's cousin.  Sources at 64,533 - added 99 today!

*  Checked Facebook, then wrote this post.  Tired tonight.  Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

My Genealogy Monday and Tuesday - 20 and 21 July 2015

The rain stopped on Monday, and the fake grass guys came on Tuesday to work.  And now the freezer isn't cold enough...drat.

1)  Monday, 20 July 2015:

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Amanuensis Monday - Post 277: 1802 Will of William Sever (1729-1809) of Kingston, Mass. posted.

*  Quickly reviewed my OASIS class slides, then off to Mission Valley at 9:30 a.m. for the 10:15 class.  Only five there, so it went pretty quickly.

*  Home by 12:45 p.m. to eat lunch, noted that New or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - July 12-18, 2015 posted, read email and blogs, and wrote RootsMagic Update 7.0.6.0 Required to Interact With FamilySearch Family Tree and then Cousin Bait Works Again - Jesse W. Smith Obituary and set it for later.

*  Took a nap, then online to check Facebook and answer email, and we left at 5 p.m. for the trolley station.  got to Tin Fish before 6 p.m., had dinner, and into Petco by 6:40 p.m.  Padres beat the Giants 4-2 for 5th win in a row.

*  Home before 11 p.m. to read, check Facebook, and off to bed without journaling.  Genealogy this day was 6.0 hours.

2)  Tuesday, 21 July 2015:

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Tuesday's Tip: Use the LearnWebSkills Tutorial to Help Beginning Researchers.

*  Fake grass guys came with more dirt and rocks, and got the yard prepared, then put the grass down but didn't anchor it.

*  We left at 10 a.m. for Linda's doctor appointment, stopped at the store and were home before noon.

*  Online to read and answer emails, checked out folks who took my AMT record images and photos, then wrote How to Add an Unrelated Person to Your Ancestry Member Tree - Method 2.

*  Worked a bit in everyStory and wrote everyStory, a Cloud-Based Story-Sharing Platform, Launches Open Beta and set it for later.

*  Took a nap at 3:50, then online at 4:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and check Facebook.

*  Went in at 7:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, wash dishes, then finish my John Sandford book.  Stated a Lee Child I read before.  Padres lost 9-3 and it wasn't that close, no hit through 5 innings.  Now 44-50 on the season.  Need another winning streak.

*  Online at 10 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and write this post.  Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

Sunday, July 19, 2015

My Semi-Geneaholic Sunday - 19 July 2015

This was not a typical summer Sunday - it rained hard for over an hour here starting at 2:10 or so.  The Padres game got cancelled in the 5th inning.

*  Read email and finished up the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 12 to 18 July 2015 post.

*  We went off to church at 9:30 a.m., and were home by 11:30 a.m. I read online, added some data from an email correspondent, and wrote Added or Updated Databases at Ancestry.com - Week of July 11 to 18, 2015 and set it for later.  Wrote another post too.

*  Went in at 1 p.m. to watch the Padres game, eat lunch, read the paper., and took a nap.  After 4 innings, rain cancelled the game with Colorado, to be made up on 10 September.

*  Online at 2:30 p.m. to check Facebook, read blogs, and review the William Sever material.  Checked the rain out in the yard...muddy.  Answered email.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV news, read the rest of the paper, try to empty the box, and eat dinner.

*  Online again at 6:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and transcribed the William Sever will and wrote the Amanuensis post for Monday.  Worked a bit in RootsMagic matching folks in the FamilySearch Family Tree.

*  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

Saturday, July 18, 2015

My Semi-Geneaholic Saturday - 18 July 2015

I had a headache most of the day...felt crappy.  Thunder overhead and rain most of the dat off and on.  Did get the car finalized and some work done in the evening.

*  Read email and blogs, then off to Marie Callenders for breakfast with the Men's Group.  Home at 9:30 a.m. to clean out the green car and find the pink slip.

*  Online to note that Surname Saturday -- CHANDLER (England > colonial New England) posted and to write Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - What Sort of Genealogist Are You?

*  Messed around, added to the Best Of post and answered emails, then went in for lunch and gold on TV and a short nap which made the headache worse.  Used a wet washcloth to try to contain it, took some Aleve and it all helped.

*  We left at 1:40 p.m. to turn over the green car to the dealer.  Had to revise the contract.  Also got the handicap plates back and can put them on in a week or two.  Stopped by the store on the way home.

*  Home at 4 p.m. to read, answered email and took a nap.  Went in for dinner at 5:30 p.m. and watched the Padres game, read the paper and then my book.  Padres won 5-4, so now 43-49 and won 4 in a row.  It's do or die time.

*  Online at 8:45 p.m. to read, then worked on the Best Of post, and added some Billion Graves sources to the database, and matched up a Seaver line to FamilySearch Family Tree.

*  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 5.5 hours.

Friday, July 17, 2015

My Semi-Genealogy Friday - 17 July 2015

The day sort of turned around after lunch...we went car shopping.

*  Read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and wrote 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 81: #96 Martin Carringer (1758-1835).

*  Decided I'd better find my flash drive and put it in a safe place.  Not found, where did it go?  Checked all of the likely places - pants pocket, floor, under papers, laptop bag, etc.  Found more flash drives, and finally found one I could use.  Added the OASIS talks and the RootsMagic-to-go and my database, sans media.  Tested everything too.

*  Answered several emails, did some research from links provided by others, and wrote More Online Information About the Squire William Sever House in Kingston, Mass.

*  After lunch, decided we had better start car shopping...so we left at 12:30 p.m. and went down to Main Street.  We ended up with a 2015 Nissan Altima 2.5 S, silver outside, charcoal inside.  Had to go through the deal, then the financial contract, and finally home by 5:30 p.m.  It always seems to take 4-5 hours no matter what.

*  Had dinner, then wrote the Surname Saturday post, answered more email, and went in at 7:10 to watch the Padres game.  Read the paper, then my book, and watered the front plants and washed dishes.  Padres beat Rockies 4-2, so now 42-49 and maybe slowly climbing out of the slump.  Hope springs eternal...

*  Online at 10:25 p.m. to write this post, add to the Best Of post, and check Facebook.  Genealogy today was 5.5 hours.

My Semi-Genealogy Thursday - 16 July 2015

Well, wee're through Jean's burial now, and the schedule may get back to normal.  It was Day 2 of the Fake Grass installation.  One more day, I think.

*  Read email and blogs, and noted that Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 271: 1830 New York State Census for Amos Underhill Household in Aurora, N.Y. posted.

*  Wrote Was the William Sever Mansion House Land Obtained by Inheritance? and set it for later.

*  We left at 10:30 a.m. for the burial service at Holy Cross Cemetery in San Diego.  I'd never been there before.  It started at 11 a.m. and we were on our way to lunch by 11:25 a.m.  Got to 94th Aero Squadron and Barbara treated us to lunch in Jean's honor.  There were nine of us.  I had a Cobb salad and ice cream.

*  Home by 2:45 p.m. and I read rather than take a nap.  Added to the Best Of post too.

*  We left at 3:40 p.m. for the health center for Linda's eye appointment.  Things are OK according to the doctor.  We went to dinner at Lolita's and were home by 6 p.m.  The yard had rocks on it and the mess was fairly well cleaned up on the driveway.

*  Online to read, then worked on Martin Carringer's profile in RootsMagic getting the events, dates, sources and notes lined up for the Friday post.  Checked Facebook and read blogs and email.  Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

My Semi-Genealogy Tuesday and Wednesday - 14 and 15 July 2015

And the Ides of July are upon us.  Where does the time go?  Well, I've spent about 10 hours these two days attending the passing of my friend, Jean.

1)  Tuesday, 14 July 2015:

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote Tuesday's Genealogy Tip - Access 28 Genealogy Periodical Collectionss on AmericanAncestors.org.  Worked on Searching for William Sever's (1729-1809) Land Records in Kingston, Mass.- The Deed Indexes and set it for later.

*  Looked for the probate papers for William Sever and found them, and downloaded them, renamed them and reviewed them.  No account papers were included.  Answered email.

*  Wrote two blog posts for Wednesday because I knew that would be a busy day.  Took a nap.

*  Watched some of the All Star Game while we ate dinner, then online to review the William Sever material.

*  We left at 6:45 p.m. for the church for Jean's Vigil service.  It was very nice, but only about 30 in attendance.  One of the cousins had visited Ireland and done some of the family genealogy.  We were home by 8:30 p.m.

*  Read, added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and read the new NGSQ.  Genealogy this day was 8.0 hours.

*  Three folks stayed overnight with us.  I stayed up until 10:45 p.m. sharing with them.

2)  Wednesday, 15 July 2015:

*  Read email and blogs after the houseguests left, noted that Randy at New York Public Library -- Post 368 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted.  Found will of Nicholas Sever and account for William Sever in the Plymouth probate papers.

*  The fake grass guy came and they started digging up the front yard.

*  We left at 10:30 a.m. for the church for Jean's Mass.  It was nice, and there was an excellent reception afterwards.  Talked a bit to Susie, who went to Ireland hunting for Shanahans and McHughs in County Roscommon.  There were 6 of Jean's nieces and nephews at the service.

*  Home by 1:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and took a nap.

*  Noted that Land Records of William Sever (1729-1809) of Kingston, Massachusetts posted.  Reviewed them again to see if I could figure out which plot had the mansion house.

*  We left at 4 p.m. to go to Barbara's for dinner, drinks and conversation with the funeral party.  It was fun - the Irish guys drank a bit of wine and got funny.  Had good conversations in the cool shade by the pool.

*  We got home by 8:30 p.m.  I put out the trash, and did the laundry.  Online to read email and blogs, and add to the Best Of post.  Checked Facebook. and wrote a post for Thursday and then this post.  Genealogy this day was 4.5 hours.

Monday, July 13, 2015

My Genealogy Monday - 13 July 2015

This was a very busy genealogy day because of my OASIS class.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that  Amanuensis Monday - Post 276: Will of John Allen (1631-1711) of Sudbury, Mass. posted.

*  JOINed the Mondays With Myrt Hangout On air at 8:45 a.m. and participated until 9:35 a.m.  Talked about the WikiTree problem and my OASIS class.

*  Left at 9:35 a.m. for Mission Valley for my OASIS class.  Got there on time, set up, got my water cup, and did my two hours.

My Semi-Genealogy Sunday - 12 July 2015

This was a pretty typical summer Sunday - church, Padres, genealogy.  Oh, eat.  Even some yard work.  No nap!

*  Read email and blogs and finished the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 5 to 11 July 2015 post.

*  We went off to church at 9:30 and home by 11:30.  Watched TV a bit, then wrote Added or Updated Databases at Ancestry.com - Week of July 4 to 11, 2015 and set it for later.

*  Watched the Padres game, ate lunch, read the paper, and finished my book.  Padres won 2-1, so 41-49 and 2 in a row, a 4-6 road trip.  Every game was close.

*  Online at 3:15 p.m. to write two more posts for Monday, then answered email and checked Facebook.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to eat dinner and watch TV news.  Worked in the yard for awhile cutting back the dead bush and clipping the long grass.  Still no sign of the fake grass guys.

*  Online at 6:45 p.m. to read, then worked in Ancestry new Hints.  Found a bunch of Seaver folks in Find A Grave and added lots of source citations.

*  Answered email, added to the new Best Of post, checked Facebook, and worked in the database a bit getting rid of unknown names.  Finished A and B.  Wrote this post.

*  Genealogy today was 5.5 hours.

My Genealogy Saturday - 11 July 2015

I was up early, ready for my SDGS presentations, and they went pretty well.

*  Read email and blogs, and left at 8:30 a.m. for the SDGS meeting.  Noted that Surname Saturday -- HOWLAND (England to Plymouth Colony) posted.

*  Got there before 9 a.m. and sat in on most of Diane Hall's Social Media presentation.  I ducked out at 9:30 a.m. to get setup for my 10 a.m. talk.  Got the laptop on and ready to go, got it setup on the VGA cable, and got them ic working.  Diane Lott opened the meeting right at 10 a.m. and I did the Pennsylvania talk.  Went well.

*  Hurried to the back of the room during announcements and was first in line for the ice cream social.  Got my three scoops and toppings and talked to folks about Pennsylvania.  I still don't know 80% of the attendees at SDGS after 15 years of going to meetings.

*  Started again at 11:30 a.m.with announcements, and I did my Ten Best Free Genealogy Websites talk like it was a radio station Top 10 countdown.  Even had the audience helping with an echo.  That also went well, was done by 12:25 p.m.

*  Made it home by 1 p.m. to eat some lunch, read email, and blogs, wrote two CVGS blog posts, and took an hour nap as a reward.  Noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Ahnentafel Roulette posted.  Answered email and added to the Best Of post.  Checked Facebook.

*  We ate dinner at 5:15 p.m. and I was back online for awhile reading, then went in at 6:15 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and then read my book.  Did the dishes and watered the front plants.  Padres won 6-5 over Rangers in the 9th inning, so now 40-49 and not yet in last place.

*  Online at 9:20 p.m. to read, answer email, check Facebook, and write this post.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

My Genealogy Friday - 10 July 2015

I didn't make a lot of progress today, but I'm ready for Saturday!  We took the girls back this morning.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 80: #95 Nancy (Kenyon) Champlin (1765-before 1833) posted.  Got the girls fed and dressed, and packed up.  Answered email and added to the Best Of post.

*  We left at 11:10 a.m. for Carlsbad to take the girls back.  Had lunch at In 'n' Out and were home by 2 p.m.

*  Read blogs, then wrote Dear Randy: I Hate the new LifeStory.  Went in and took a 45 minute nap.

*  Online at 4 p.m. to read blogs, and write the Surname Saturday post.  Checked Facebook and Google+.  Practiced the Ten Best presentation for the first time, and did some edits.

*  Went in for dinner at 5:30 p.m. Linda spilled hot butter on the stove burner and we had a contained fire.  Put a pan top over the burner and it eventually went out.  We watched the Padres game, ate dinner, and I read the paper, my book, and then got the presentations on the laptop.  Padres lost 4-3 to Rangers, so now 39-49 and have lost 6 straight.

*  Online at 8:15 p.m. to write the SNGF post, added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and read blogs and email.  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 6.0 hours.

My Genealogy Thursday - 9 July 2015

This was another day with the grandgirls here, but I stayed home when they went to the Y to swim with Linda.  The girls slept in until 8 and 9, so I had some morning computer time.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 270: 1840 New York State Census for Amos Underhill Household in Aurora, N.Y. posted.

*  Wrote Two More Children's Books on Family History around playing with the girls.  Poker, Fish, a Jacks game, hide and seek, etc.  Answered email and worked in WikiTree on several problems in order to answer to email.

*  Checked Facebook, and wrote David Kirby (1740-1832) Went Missing on WikiTree! and set it for later.

*  Took a 40 minute nap while the kids were at the Y, then read blogs and added to the Best Of post.  Made some Sever reports for David and sent them off.

*  We left at 5:30 p.m. for dinner at Lolita's, except Lolo got a Subway and Audrey got a McDonalds Happy Meal.  We were home by 6:45.

*  Played more games with the girls, then worked on the 52 Ancestors post, and wrote it for Friday.  Facebook, added to the Best Of post and I'm tired.  The girls go home on Friday.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

My Semi-Genealogy Wednesday - 8 July 2015

I actually did some genealogy activities today, although the grandgirls were here to visit.

*  After getting the girls fed, and watching TV, read my email and blogs and added to the Best Of post.  Wrote Randy at the Empire State Building -- Post 367 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and then Randy is Presenting Saturday, 11 July at San Diego Genealogical Society and set it for later in the morning.

*  Had some fun time playing balloons with Audrey while Lauren read, then gathered the laptop and off to lunch at McDonalds, then the bank, then the library for a book, and then to the city hall for the CVGS research Group.

*  We had 13 at the Research Group and it was fairly lively.  I discussed MyHeritage, the BLM/GLO website maps and aliquot parts (heh!), the Ancestry FREE collections, and Relative Finder and Puzzilla add-ons to FamilySearch Family Tree.

*  Home by 2:30 p.m. to read, then took a 40 minute nap, and then read some more. Wrote  MyHeritage Launches Breakthrough Global Name Translation™ Technology to Power Family History Discoveries.

*  Went in at 4:20 p.m. to watch the Padres game.  Linda and the girls came home from swimming.  We left at 5:45 p.m. for dinner at El Pollo Loco.  Home by 7 p.m. to have Dove bars for dessert.  Padres lost 5-2 to Pirates, so now 39-48 and way behind the Dodgers.  Is there hope?

*  Snuggled with the girls and they got ready for bed, had snacks, and decided to sleep in one room.  They got along well today.  I read, added to the Best Of post, answered email, and wrote a post for Thursday since we may go off fairly early on an excursion.

*  Checked Facebook, wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

My Non-Genealogy Monday and Tuesday - 6-7 July 2015

Life sometimes interferes with genealogy, and it has these two days to some extent.

1)  Monday, 6 July:

*  Read email and blogs, and noted that Amanuensis Monday - Post 275: Will of Samuel Bigelow (1653-1732) of Watertown, Mass. posted.

*  Joined Mondays With Myrt for 30 minutes, then left at 9:40 a.m. for Mission Valley to teach my OASIS class.  Got there just before 10 a.m., had 7 students, and was home by 12:45 p.m.

*  Linda met me at the door and we went to lunch with Ruthie, our former neighbor now in a retirement community, to celebrate her 87th birthday.  We went to Marie Callenders, and by the time we got home it was 4 p.m.

*  Read a bit, sent the CVGS Newsletter out by email, noted that New or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - June 28 to July 4, 2015 posted,
then watched the Psdres game, ate dinner, and read the paper, and then my book.  Padres lost 2-1 to Pirates in the 9th.  Drat.

*  Online at 7:30 p.m. to read, write Kickstarter Campaign for a Children's Illustrated Family History Book, added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, but didn't do any research or journal.  Genealogy this day was 5.5 hours.

2)  Tuesday, 7 July 2015:

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Tuesday's Tip: Search or Browse California Records on FamilySearch and One-year Findmypast Subscription to US/Canada Records with NGS Membership and set it for later.

*  Printed off the masters for the CVGS Newsletter and mail label list.  Practiced the Pennsylvania talk for awhile, then gathered up the newsletter stuff and went to the UPS Store and published it.  Took the mail copies to the post office.

*  Had an 11:20 a.m. appointment at the medical center to have my ears cleaned out - the earwax has built up and sometimes I can't hear well.  Nice doc who was interested in my genealogy tales.  He managed to get the rocks out with the vacuum and pick, one was half an inch long and really impacted.  I don't notice much difference but nice to have them clear again.

*  Got home by 12:20 p.m. and we set off immediately for Carlsbad to meet Tami and the girls.  The girls came home with us.  They played, I napped, and we went to dinner at Chick-fil-A.  Home by 7 p.m. to watch the rest of the Padres game.  Rain delay, Pads lost 3-2 to the Pirates.  Now 39-47 and hopelessly out of contention.

*  Got the girls to bed, read, added to the Best Of post, answered email, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 4.5 hours.

Blogging will be light for the rest of the week while we enjoy the grandgirls.

My Genealogy Sunday - 5 July 2015

I actually got some things accomplished today, but didn't spend a lot of time on genealogy.

*  Read email and blogs, and finished up the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 28 June to 4 July 2015 post.

*  We went off to church at 9:30 a.m. and were home by 11:30.  I watched Padres game, Pads lost 3-1 to St. Louis.

*  Online at 2 p.m. to read, then wrote the Added or Updated Databases at Ancestry.com - Week of June 27 to July 3, 2015 post.  Wrote two more for Monday too.

*  Went in at 4 p.m. to watch the World Cup game.  USA won 5-2.  We ate dinner, and then I came online at 6:30 p.m. to read, edit the CVGS Newsletter once more, and work in the database.  Got through the Lo surnames.  Added quite a few bits of content and sources to the database.

*  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, answered email, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 5.5 hours.

My Genealogy Fourth of July

I actually got to do some genealogy work on a Saturday...but it was pretty laid back.

*  Read email and blogs, and noted that My Revolutionary War Soldiers posted early in the morning.  Wrote Surname Saturday - BOWERS (England to colonial New England) and then the SNGF post.

*  Went through about 100 Ancestry Hints adding some to the database.  Answered some email.

*  Went in at 11:15 a.m. to watch the Padres game, eat lunch and read the paper.  Padres lost 2-1 to the Cards, so now 39-44.

*  Online at 2 p.m. to read, noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Fourth of July Memories posted.  Decided on a nap...and then back to read, worked through another 100 Hints adding content and sources.  Checked Facebook.

*  Worked on the CVGS Newsletter until dinnertime, and then also after dinner.

*  We left at 7:45 p.m. for the church to watch the fireworks.  Home at 9:15 p.m. to talk to brother-in-law on the phone.  Worked a bit in FamilySearch Family Tree on Kingston, Mass. Sever family.  It's messed up.

*  Added to bthe besxt of post.  Checked Facebook.  Wrote this post. Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

My Genealogy Friday - 3 July 2015

This was supposed to be the day they put in the fake grass to save water.  They didn't come.  I had to call them.  They said later in the afternoon.  Nope.  Maybe on Saturday?  4th of July?  I doubt it.  Maybe Monday?  At least we haven't paid them yet.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 79: #94 Joseph Champlin (1757-1850).

*  Updated all of the OASIS presentations and got them on the flash drive and Dropbox for Monday.  Sent the SDGS handouts to Linda to copy.

*  Answered email, and worked in Ancestry a bit on the DNA Match trees, adding folks from the RootsMagic file, and vice versa.

*  Started the new car search online.  Want something comfortable, cheap, reliable, good mileage, silver exterior, light interior, etc.  Also need a dealer nearby.  Maybe a two year old former rental car?

*  Researched and wrote How Many Signers of the Declaration of Independence Am I Related To? using Relative Finder.

*  Went in and took a 40 minute nap, I was tired.  Online at 3:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook, answer more email, searched for McCracken obituary.  Found Facebook and Google+ posts.  Set up a new user file for Linda, set up her Thunderbird and transferred the address book into it.

*  Went in at 5:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game, eat dinner, read the paper, and my book.  Padres beat Cards 2-1 in the 9th.  Now 39-43.

*  Online at 8 p.m. to read, then worked on the CVGS Newsletter for awhile.  About 75% done now, need one more big article and several small ones.

*  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.5 hours.

My Genealogy Day - 2 July 2015

I feel like a slacker.  I should have worked on the CVGS Newsletter tonight but didn't feel like it.  So I got into Ancestry and it wouldn't search for some reason.  So I used RootsMagic to match some of my ancestors with the FSFT and it had an unexpected error.  I think I'll go read my book.

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 269: 1855 New York State Census for Amos Underhill Household in Aurora, N.Y.

*  Checked the OASIS handouts and sent them off to the office to make copies for the Monday class.

*  Researched and wrote What Facts Show Up in an Ancestry.com LifeStory?

*  We went off to Dan's memorial service at 11:40 a.m., and were home before 2 p.m.

*  Read, added to the Best Of post, and looked through the AncestryDNA matches again - two more with Hints, now have 72, but a number don't have trees or have private trees.  Answered some email.
Worked on the Joseph Champlin profile for the 52 Ancestors sketch.

*  Checked Google+ and Facebook, and went in at 4:15 p.m. to watch the Padres game.  We ate dinner, I read the paper and then my book, and watered the front plants.  Padres beat the Cards 5-3 in 11 innings in a good game.  So now 38-43 at the half way point.  Need to go 50-31 to finish with 88 wins.  Not likely.

*  Online at 8:30 p.m. to read, then tried Ancestry but couldn't search. Matched a few ancestors in FSFT using RootsMagic but RM had an unexpected error.

*  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was only 6.5 hours.

My Genealogy Day - 1 July 2015

The first day of the second half of 2015.  Where does the time go?  I look at my list of blog posts and see that I've written 489 so far this year on Genea-Musings - about 2.6 per day.  I look at the list and say to myself "how does that happen?"  Well, I get up, read, write, research, enter data, and repeat all day long until I go to bed.  The exception is lunch, dinner, and Padre games.  When you spend 8-10 hours a day doing this you can write 2.6 posts a day!

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote Visiting the Statue of Liberty -- Post 366 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday.  Wrote Free Access to the Revolutionary War Collection Through July 15th and set it for later.

*  Worked on the syllabus for the OASIS class and got them done.  Still have to do the presentations.  There are always changes every quarter.  New websites appear, etc.

*  Left at 11:10 for McDonalds for lunch, then to the library to sit in on John's group and get a book, then to the CVGS Bored meeting, and it was.  Got home by 2:40 p.m. and watched the end of the Padres game.  Got a good doze too.  Pads lost 7-90 to Mariners, so now 37-43 and off to St. Louis and Pittsburgh now.  That should be fun.

*  Online at 3:30 p.m. to read, and worked a bit on the industry stats but couldn't find what I wanted.  Drat.  Wasted an hour and a half.

*  Went in at 5:20 p.m. for dinner and watch TV, then put out the trash.  Online at 6:10 p.m. to read, write Search 13 Colonies Vital Records on Ancestry.com FREE Through July 5 and then wrote four posts on the CVGS blog and started the July newsletter.  Took a break at 8 to show Linda how to use Gmail.  A lost cause I fear.

*  Checked Facebook and had very few posts in my feed for some reason.  Maybe a reboot will help.  Or not.  Read blogs, then added to the Best Of post.  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 11.0 hours.
