Genea-Journal - Tuesday, 30 April 2019

Well, this was a day for surprises.  Sometimes things suddenly don't work.  Rained off and on all morning here.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and noted that Treasure Chest Tuesday -- 1796 Birth and Baptism Record of Elisabet Konig in York, Pennsylvania posted.

*  Picked her up, and went to the grocery store.  Home by 9:45 a.m.  Online to read, then checked Seaver entries on Billion Graves.  Found 2 that I didn't have a RootsMagic entry for, but research did not find them after an hour or more of trying.

*  Wrote Findmypast Says "Get Ready for Ancestor Sharing" and had lunch.  Added to the Best Of post, and worked in WebHints in RootsMagic for awhile.

*  Wrote Genealogy News Bytes - 30 April 2019 and then checked Twitter and Facebook.

*  Heard a noise in the family room, and Linda yelped.  Went in and our chairside table with the attached lamp had the lamp fixture broken - it exploded and she got her hand blackened.  Unplugged it, emptied it, but we didn't have a replacement so kept it there, with a freestanding desk light to read by.  Very bright but works great!  Whew.  Looked online for replacement table "just like ours" which is 30-40 years old.

*  Padres game started at 4:20, so read the paper, ate dinner, did the dishes and read my book.  Padres beat Braves 4-3 so now 17-13 on the season.

*  Online at 7:10 p.m. and wrote two posts for Wednesday.  Started to work in RootsMagic and it didn't open right.  A message said "There was a problem loading the user preferences."  I tried entering all of the user preferences and RM froze before I could save them.  Posted the problem to Facebook, then decided to try something.  Got it working, I think!

*  Added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.5 hours.

*  Went in at 5:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game, and help with dinner.  We ate, and I read the paper, and then my James Patterson book.  Padres won 5-4 over Dbacks, so now 11-5 on the season, and in first place.  Yay!!!

*  Online at 9 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, note that Added and Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 7 to 13 April 2019 posted,

Genea-Journal - Thursday, 11 April 2019

This was a busy day.  I was tired all day, but had no time to take a nap.  I did complete a major task - the tax returns are submitted!  And the checks are written and in the mail.  I feel poorer.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and noted that   Treasure Chest Thursday - 1888 Marriage Record of Henry Shannon Buntin and Anna Mattison Auble in Vigo County, Indiana posted.  Reviewed the Oasis material.

*  Picked Linda up, and home by 9:15 a.m.  Left at 9:20 with the flash drive and laptop for the OASIS class in La Mesa.

*  Got there at 9:50, got set up in the classroom, and started the class using their computer.  The screen dimmed about 10 minutes in and at 20 minutes it went off.  Turns out that the wall plug wasn't working - put it in the lower plug and everything was bright and beautiful.  Had only 5 students today - one sick, one outta town.  We went long because I always have too much to share.

*  Home by 1 p.m. to eat lunch, then online to write Seavers in the News -- George W. Seaver Files for Divorce in 1924.

*  Started in on the taxes again, and decided I was done and tried to submit them electronically.  I had to log into TurboTax to pay for the state tax efile,  The site froze up and I couldn't change my password so I called the help line which wasn't much help.  Finally got out of TurboTax and went to the site, changed my password successfully on about the 6th try, and then opened TurboTax again and was able to pay up and efile both returns.  Wasted almost an hour doing all this.  Really perturbed!

*  Checked Twitter and Facebook, answered email, and added to the Best Of post.  Started on the 52 Ancestors biography and had the notes and sources done by dinner time.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. for dinner, watched TV news, and was back online at 6 p.m.  Wrote the 52 Ancestors post, and answered email.

*  Went in at 6:55 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, do the dishes, and read my book.  Padres went ahead 6-1, and Arizona tied it up, and we got a homer in the 9th inning to win it 7-6.  So Padres are 9-5 and in first place in the West!!  Very cool.

*  The game was over at 10 p.m., and I read email and blogs, and wrote this post.  Got an email from a 4th cousin on the Kemp line who is working on genealogy.   Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

*  Picked up Linda, and we went to the 99 Cent store to shop.  Home by 9:45 a.m.

*  Had lunch, then left at 11:20 a.m. for the library for my CVGS Research Group.  We got set up in the Computer Lab today - just enough seats!  Had 13 attendees.  Got two books on the way out, and home by 2:30 p.m.

*  Watched the Padres game, dozed in the recliner, and Pads beat Giants 3-1, so we are now 8-5 on the season.

*  Online at 3:30 p.m. to add to the Best Of post, and wrote Guest Post: Citizens Military Training Camps (CMTC) by Carole Sobke.  Checked Twitter and Facebook.

*  Online at 6:15 p.m. to read, worked on the 52 Ancestors profile, and wrote the Treasure Chest post for Thursday.  TreeShared 130 profiles with about 70 more to do.  Hadn't done that for 10 days.

Genea-Journal - Tuesday, 9 April 2019

Did you miss me?  My brother-in-law came to town on Saturday and left today.  I had limited time on the computer.  The Padres are playing too, and we watched the games every day, plus we watched the NCAA games on Saturday and Monday nights.  Not much genealogy the last four days.  Haven't slept well the last two nights.

*  Paul took Linda to the Y today, so I was online at 7:15 until they got home at 10 a.m.  Read email and blogs, noted that Treasure Chest Tuesday -- 1810 United States Census Record for Philip J. King in York, Pennsylvania posted, and added to the Best Of post.

*  Over the weekend, we scanned 41 photos and renamed them, so I emailed them to Paul today.

*  Went in at 7 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, read my book, and did dishes.  Padres lost 7-2 to the Giants so now 7-5 on the year.

*  Online to check Facebook, add to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 6.5 hours.

Genea-Journal - Friday, 5 April 2019

Another day without working on the taxes - subconsciously avoiding the inevitable signing of big checks, I think.  A cool and cloudy day, with some drizzle in the morning.  I spent all day in the genea-cave, it seems.  Brother-in-law Paul comes on Saturday morning so genealogy may be light over the weekend.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read, added to the Best Of post, and noted that 52 Ancestors - Week 272: #445 Melatiah (Hamant) Metcalf (1704-1751) of Medfield, Mass. and Keene, N.H.  posted.

*  Picked her up at 9 a.m. and we went to Walmart for bathing suits - she got two!  Home by 9:45 a.m.

*  Wrote New Records Available To Search This Findmypast Friday, 5 April 2019 and wrote the Ancestry post for Sunday.  Took a short nap.

*  Had lunch, and online to add to the Best Of post, then wrote Genealogy News Bytes - 5 April 2019.

*  Went in to the recliner at 1:30 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and one of my books.  Padres beat the Cards 5-3 so we are 5-3 on the season.

*  Online at 4:15 p.m. to read, wrote the Surname Saturday post, and answered email.  Forgot to check Twitter and Facebook.  Oh well!

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. for dinner, watched TV news, and then worked in the front yard pulling weeds for a bit.  Tidied up the floors too so Paul doesn't think we are total slobs.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, wrote the SNGF post, and worked on the CVGS Newsletter.  Got it finished and set off to the proofers.  Whew!

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.5 hours.
