My Genealogy Friday - 31 March 2017

Well, it's the end of March.  3 months down, nine to go.  Day 91 is tomorrow.  I feel better today...and am taking my meds.  This was a stay-at-home day, but I even worked in the yard a bit.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read email and blogs, then picked her up and we went to the jeweler's and then to the grocery store.

*  Home by 10 a.m. to note that 52 Ancestors - Week 169: #241 Johann Ernst Dafoe (1726-1784) of New York, Vermont and Ontario posted and to write New Records Available To Search This Findmypast Friday, 31 March 2017.

*  Worked on the Saturday night presentation and got it on the flash drive, on google Drive and Dropbox to transfer to the laptop.  Rested my eyes for awhile, then had lunch.

*  Online at 1 p.m. to read, answer email and add to the Best Of post.  Wrote This Week's We're Related Relationships - 31 March 2017.  Checked Facebook and Twitter.  Worked on some MyHeritage record matches.

*  Went out to survey the back yard, and the grass and weeds are really high.  I mowed the north side and will do the west side sometime over the weekend.

*  Came in at 5:15 p.m. to watch TV news, read the paper, eat dinner and wash dishes.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, then wrote the two Saturday posts.  Set up the laptop to get the Saturday presentation on it.  Still waiting after 15 minutes for Google Drive and Dropbox to do it.  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

My Genealogy Wednesday and Thursday - 29-30 March 2017

The tale of two days...one essentially lost and the second a decent genealogy day.

1)  Wednesday, 29 March:

*  Got all of 3 or 4 hours of sleep in short bursts due to fever and toothache.  Woke up with my mouth hurting and swollen at the root of tooth #30. Took some Aeve which helped.  Dropped Linda off, home to read email and blogs, and picked her up.

*  Home at 9:10 a.m. to call the dentist, and got a 9:30 appointment.  She looked at it and said I needed a Root Canal.  Down a block to the RC dentist, and he did it.  Went to Ralph's for a prescription.

*  Home by 1 p.m. without lunch, and missed the CVGS meeting at noon.  Took my medicine and tried to nap.  Failed.  Online to note that 2012 Legacy Cruise Photos: Part 1 -- Post 457 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted, then wrote First Take on AncestryDNA Genetic Communities.

*  Had a pudding and some grapes, then tried to take another nap, which failed.  Checked Facebook and added to the Best Of post.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV and dozed off for 30 minutes.  Felt better.  We had dinner and I read the paper and did dishes and put the trash out.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, write the Treasure Chest post, and didn't do much else.  Didn't journal.  Genealogy this day was maybe 4.0 hours.

2)  Thursday, 30 March:

*  Got 9 hours of good sleep, and awoke at 6:30 a.m. feeling much better.  The root canal and meds seem to be doing their job.  Dropped Linda off, home for breakfast and to read email and blogs, then picked her up.

*  Home by 9:15 a.m. to add to the Best Of post, answer email and note that 1749 Marriage Record of Johan Ernst Defuh and Maritgen Keller - Treasure Chest Thursday Post #358 posted.  Wrote Family History Labs Survey - Your Help is Needed.

*  Worked a bit in my Ancestry Tree, and found that Find A Grave had a burial for Sarah Auble!  A new record for me.  Modified my Ancestry Trees to reflect it.  Requested a photo on Find A Grave.

*  Took a 30 minute nap, then had lunch, and online at 1 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and work on Seavers in the News -- Albert E. Seaver Dies in San Antonio, Texas.  Did some searching on Ancestry for the family and added persons, content and sources to the database.  Checked Facebook.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV news, read the paper, and watch TV, then washed dishes.

*  Online at 6:45 p.m. to read, then researched and wrote the 52 Ancestors post.  Answered email, and wrote this post.  Genealogy this day was 9.5 hours.

My Genealogy Tuesday - 28 March 2017

Another day, more blog posts.  Some interesting topics, though.  My tooth hurt again today, so I went to the dentist.  i'm not sure it is better.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read email and blogs, picked her up, and home by 9:10 a.m.  Noted that Treasure Chest Tuesday - 1876 Marriage Record for Torger Sjursen Leland and Anna Ellingsdatter Natvig posted and wrote Genetic Communities™ Beta: New Innovation from AncestryDNA.  Added to the Best Of post.

*  Double checked the income taxes, finished them up and submitted them electronically.  Accepted.  Done.  Yippee!

*  Answered email, grabbed some lunch, then went off to the dentist for a 12 noon emergency appointment.  She shaved the temporary crown down and it felt better - I can eat on it.  However, I may have an infection because it hurt when I touch the gum all the way to the root.  We'll see.

*  Home by 12:30, and took my nap.  Online at 1:30 p.m. to read, then wrote More Answers About TreeShare in RootsMagic.  Checked Facebook.  Answered email, added to the Best Of post.

*  Had to go to the store to get spaghetti sauce, and home for Linda to fix it.  We ate at 4:15 p.m.  I read the paper, watched TV and washed dishes.

My Genea-Weekend - 25-26 March 2017

It was a fairly typical weekend - not al ot of blogging or researching, but I did something both days.

1)  Saturday, 25 March:

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read email and blogs, and printed off the RMUG questions, then picked her up and home by 9:15 a.m.  Gathered the laptop, the flash drive and questions, and left for the FamilySearch Center in Mission Valley.

*  Got there by 9:40 a.m., and worked on Canadian databases on Ancestry and then looked for Sacramento Court Records on FamilySearch digital microfilm.  Didn't find what I waned.  The other court records are only on film, so I'll have to do that in SLC next year.

*  Went in at 10 a.m. to set up for the RootsMagic User Group and we had only 7, but they were a lively 7?

*  Home by 12:45 p.m. to have lunch, took a nap in the recliner, watched basketball, and was online around 3 to read, add to the Best Of post and do some MyHeritage Record Matches, adding content and sources to my RootsMagic database.  Noted that Surname Saturday -- ELDREDGE (colonial New England) and Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - The Day Your Grandfather Was Born posted.  Then it was back to basketball.

My Genea-Friday - 24 March 2017

It's only Friday?  It seemed like Saturday because the house cleaner came.  I actually did something useful this morning and tonight.

*  Dropped Linda off, then off to my doctor's appointment at 8 a.m. (smart move to make this early in the morning), then picked her up.  This was a routine appointment, the doc actually weighed me and did vital signs because the nurse was busy.  No problems.  He still wants me to have a colonoscopy...

*  Home by 9:10 a.m. to read, add to the Best Of post and note that 52 Ancestors - Week 168: #241 Anna (Van Vorst) (Van den Bogart) Kemp (1732-1789) of Fredericksburgh, Ontario posted.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to write the two Saturday posts, then corrected a family in FamilySearch Family Tree which an idiot changed - taking away the husband and six of seven kids.  I put them all back but it was a struggle, then worked on Dutch church records for a Putman family adding content and sources.

My Semi-Genea-Thursday - 23 March 2017

*  2.5 hours in the chair, had a cavity filled on #21, and then got prepped for a crown on #30.  She took off the old crown and found decay, plus a cavity below the gumline, so she fixed that.  Then impressions for the crown and the installation of the temporary.  Home by 4:45 p.m. with a numb lower lip and tongue and teeth.

*  Read email and blogs, then went in for dinner and watched TV and read the paper and did the dishes.

*  Tried to nap again, but failed.  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, answered email.  Tried to nap at 3 p.m. and Linda called me in.  Online at 4 p.m., and checked Facebook some more.

*  Went out at 4:50 p.m. to wait for the repair guy, and pulled weeds and talked to the neighbor.  He came at 5:10 p.m. and got the dryer open, diagnosed the program as the cable that tumbles the tub, and he didn't have the part needed, so he ordered it.  It will come on 23 March.  Grrr.

*  Went in for dinner at 6 p.m., and the potatoes burned, but the corned beef was great.  Read the paper, watched TV and did dishes.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, then wrote the Tuesday post, and worked in FamilySearch Family Tree matching Seavers and standardizing places.

*  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 6.0 hours.

My Genealogy Saturday - 11 March 2017

This was another nice, warm day in San Diego, unusual for March, high of about 80 F.  Only got 6 hours sleep last night because the Aztecs game ended at midnight - they lost 71-63 after leading by 13.  Same old same old.   Found out I have jury duty on Monday - Drat!

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read email and blogs, picked her up, and home by 9:15 a.m. to grab my pack and head off to the SDGS meeting in Lake Murray.

*  Headed home after the snack time and made it by noon, and immediately took an hour nap.

*  Had lunch, and online at 1:30 p.m. to note that Surname Saturday -- SMITH (Colonial Massachusetts) and Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Your Middle Name posted.

*  Worked in the Surname Society website a bit adding content to my profile and read/downloaded the recent newsletters.  Looked for the webinar, but it was over by then.  Drat.  Checked Family Tree Webinars and watched two webinars (well, skipped through them reading slides) and downloaded syllabus material.

*  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and answered email.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to read the paper, eat dinner, watch TV and wash dishes.

My Genealogy Sunday and Monday - 6 and 7 March 2017

It's been a busy two days - I watched WDYTYA instead of journaling on Sunday.  It drizzled a bit on Sunday and was clear today, but cool.  I got some tasks done too.

1)  Sunday, 6 March:

*  Read email and blogs while watching Meet the Depressed.  Off to church after 9:30, and home by 11:20 and took Linda to the Nails Spa.  I had lunch at McDonalds and rested my eyes.

*  Home at 12:45 p.m. to watch TV sports, took a nap, and online at 2 p.m.  Noted that Best of the Genea-Blogs - 26 February to 4 March 2017 posted.  Linda went off with Barbara to a concert.

*  Finished up the CVGS newsletter and sent it to the email list.  Worked on the transcription for Amanuensis Monday, then noted that Added or Updated Databases at Ancestry.com - Week of 26 February to 4 March 2017 posted.

*  Went in and watched TV news and read the paper at 5 p.m., and Linda got home at 5:30.  We went out to Lolita's for dinner and home by 6:45 p.m.

*  Read email and blogs, checked Facebook, and wrote the Amanuensis Monday post.  Answered email, started the next Best Of post.

*  Went in at 9:45 p.m. to watch WDYTYA? and dozed through it.  Didn't journal.  Genealogy this day was 6.0 hours.

2)  Monday, 7 March:

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read email and blogs, picked her up and home by 9 a.m.  Joined Mondays With Myrt, and got to talk about the RootsMagic sync news.  Video with Russ afterwards about RootsMagic features.

*  Noted that Amanuensis Monday -- Probate Records of Thomas Dill (1708-1761) Estate in Barnstable County, Massachusetts - Part 2 posted, and added to the Best Of post.

*  Made the black and white master of the newsletter, printed it off and printed the revised mailing labels.

*  Had lunch, then my nap, and online at 1:30 p.m. to note that Added or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 26 February to 4 March 2017 posted.

*  Took the newsletter master and labels to the UPS Store and made copies and sent them off to the mail labels.

*  Home by 2:30 p.m. to answer email, read blogs, add to the Best Of post, and check Facebook.  Wrote Using the "Share" Button in RootsMagic Facts and then Episode 181 of the Extreme Genes Podcast is Available and set it for later.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch TV news, eat dinner, read the paper, Facetime with Tami's kids, and wash dishes.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, talk to Lori, and write the Tuesday early post.  Reviewed the new Ancestry Hints but didn't resolve any.  Searched for origins of Gilford Seaver (1811-1879); have a thought but no data.  He's an orphan in my database, and nobody else knows his parents.

*  Wrote this post, read email and blogs, and I'm done early.  Genealogy today was 9.5 hours.

It's been a hard genealogy day here in the cave...

Sometimes, I resemble this situation...

Hat tip to John Grenham, who probably got it from the Simpsons site.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, then off to the men's breakfast at 8 a.m., over at 9:20, picked up Linda, and home by 9:40.  Answered email, made sure the presentation was on the flash drive and the laptop, and added to the Best Of blog.  Looked for females with no surname, found some, and solved three problems.

*  Went in at 11:30 a.m. to eat lunch, rested my eyes for 15 minutes, online to do email and blogs, then left at 12:30 p.m. for the Bonita library for the CVGS workshop.
