My Semi-Genealogy Saturday - 29 April 2017

The only thing genealogy-wise I did today was read blogs, resolve Ancestry hints and research descendants of my ancestors.  A fun day, with a nice lunch and a great Padres game.  I wish every Saturday was this good!

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read email and blogs, picked her up, home to change clothes, and we left at 9:30 a.m. for Harbor Island and the retirement party for our financial advisor, Liz.  Sat with friends and got caught up on family, and had a nice lunch.  The retirement stuff went a little long, but the reminiscences of Liz's life were priceless.

*  We were home by 1 p.m., and I read quickly, noting that Surname Saturday -- COPELAND (England to colonial Massachusetts) and Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Genealogy Sayings in Latin posted.  Went to the recliner and got a nap while "watching" ESPN draft day.

*  Online at 2:30 p.m. to read, then worked through 233 Ancestry Hints, adding content and sources to my RootsMagic database.  Used suggested records for some to add more to the database.  Email provided info on a Dill family so I added them to the Ancestry tree, got Hints, and added content and sources to the database.  FUN!

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch TV news, eat dinner, and then watched the Padres game.  Read the paper, then the Connelly book, and washed dishes.  Padres beat Giants 12-4, so now 10-16 and in 4th place again.

*  Online to read, add to the Best Of post, and write this post.  Genealogy today 4.5 hours.

My Genealogy Friday - 28 April 2017

Happy 9th birthday to my 4th grandchild, Audrey.  She is the sassy one, the verbal one, the sneaky one.  She still wants piggyback rides and to play the kissing game, and loves my Dove bars and all of the junk food in the world.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up, and we went to Ralphs for groceries, and home by 9:40 a.m.

*  Added to the Best Of post, noted that 52 Ancestors - Week 173: #252 Peter Victorse Putman (1760-1835) of New Jersey and New York posted and wrote New Records Available To Search This Findmypast Friday, 28 April 2017 and set ir for later.

*  Answered email, worked on Ancestry for awhile in the Overseas Deaths database trying to find two Seavers in the files, and failed.

*  Had pizza for lunch, then online to read whatever, and rested my eyes a bit, then wrote This Week's We're Related Relationships - 28 April 2017.

My Genealogy Tuesday - 11 April 2017

I just realized I'm three months out from my SDGS talks and haven't even started.  Life has piled up on me a bit - especially the dental work which will be another month at least.  Then there's the dead car, the broken fence and the full-of-crap garage.  And the Padres games every night.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read email and blogs, and picked her up and home by 9:15 a.m.  Noted that Treasure Chest Tuesday -- 1876 Naturalization Record for T.S. Leland posted and rested my eyes for 20 minutes before leaving for the dentist.

*  At the dentist's office by 10:25, and she replaced the temporary filling, took impressions for a new crown, and installed a temporary crown, all without novocaine.  No problem, since the tooth had a root canal last week.

*  Home by 12 noon to eat lunch, read blogs, add to the Best Of post, answer email, and mess around some in the database.  Tried to make Calc work on my Kinship report and failed, so used FTM 2014 to do it and it worked.  Wrote Responses to Kinship Report Post - Family Tree Maker Can Do It!.

*  Online at 8:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and write the Treasure Chest post.  Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

My Semi-Genealogy Friday and Saturday - 7 and 8 April 2017

I say "semi-genealogy" because we spent both evenings at Petco Park rooting on our Padres to victories.  i'm tired!

1)  Friday, 7 April 2017:

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read email and blogs, then picked her up, and home by 9:15.  Noted that 52 Ancestors - Week 170: #243 Maritjen (Keller) Dafoe (1729-1789) of New York, Vermont and Ontario posted and wrote Findmypast’s Catholic Heritage Archive Continues to Grow and New Records Available To Search This Findmypast Friday, 7 April 2017.  Also the Surname Saturday post.

*  Rested my eyes for awhile, had lunch, and online to write RootsWeb Can't Create a New Mailing List Right Now. Later? and Get Free Advice About and Access to Probate Records on NEHGS on 18-25 April 2017 and the SNGF post for Saturday.

*  We left at 2 p.m. for El Pollo Loco for takeout dinner for Linda, then to Palomar station for the trolley, and were in Petco Park by 3:15 p.m. for the 3:40 game.  I had a pizza slice - better than last year from PizzaPort.  Padres won 7-6 in a good up-and-down game.  We were home by 7:40 p.m., so I read, checked Facebook, but didn't journal.

*  Went in at 9:30 to read my book and watch news.  Genealogy this day was 5.5 hours.

2)  Saturday, 8 April 2017:

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read email and blogs and dry the clothes, picked her up, and home by 9:15 a.m. and left at 9:25 for the SDGS meeting.

*  Got to the SDGS meeting by 9:45 a.m. and talked to folks, then Del did his Evernote talk.  Decided to skip the second half because I couldn't read the screen, so home by 11:45 a.m. to find that the house cleaner had not come, so we made the bed.

*  Online to note that Surname Saturday -- MARTIN (England to colonial New England) posted and Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- A Family's Increase too.  Added to the Best Of post.

*  Went in at 12:30 p.m. to watch TV and eat lunch, and had a recliner doze.  Online at 2 p.m. to work on the CVGS Newsletter draft and read email and blogs.

*  We left at 3:30 p.m. for In 'n' Out for dinner, then to the 24th St trolley station and were in Petco Park by 5 p.m.  Padres won 2-1 in a well-pitched game, so the Padres are now 3-3 on the season - this may be the best record all year.  We'll see.  Linda and I are 2-0 in the games we have attended to date.  A good start for us.

*  Home by 8:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and write this post.  Genealogy today was 5.0 hours.

My Genea-Thursday - 6 April 2017

This was a stay-at-home genealogy day, but I didn't find anything new.  It was another nice day outside but I didn't go out much.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, picked her up, and we went to Dollar Tree for Easter stuff and more.

*  Home by 10 a.m. to note that 1772 Birth Record of Mercy Plimpton (1772-1850) of Medfield, Mass. - Post #359 of Treasure Chest Thursday posted and wrote Findmypast Launches Six Counties In Six Months - Wiltshire This Month!.  Worked a bit in Findmypast on Wiltshire folks.  May have an idea for Ann Marshman's parents!

*  Went in at 12:15 p.m. to watch the Padres game, eat lunch, read the paper and take my nap.  Pads lost 10-2 to Dodgers, so now 1-3 on the season.  We go on Friday.

*  Online at 3 p.m. to read, then wrote Searching Wiltshire Parish Registers on Findmypast.  Checked Facebook.  Answered email and added to the Best Of post.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. for dinner, watch TV news, and wash dishes.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, then started the CVGS Newsletter and have it about 75% done.

*  worked on the 52 Ancestors biography and wrote the blog post.  Checked Facebook again and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

My Genealogy Wednesday - 5 April 2017

Another relatively short genealogy day with essentially no research performed.  I need to go hunting more to make me feel I accomplished something.  The tooth is fine right now.  It was a nice day today, should cool off tomorrow.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, picked her up at 9 and we went grocery shopping at Ralphs.

*  Online at 9:15 a.m. to read, noted that 2012 Legacy Cruise Photos: Part 2 -- Post 458 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted, and wrote SDGS Meeting on Saturday, 8 April Features Del Ritchhart on Evernote.  Printed off the CVGS Bored meeting stuff.  Tired, so went in to rest my eyes for 15 minutes, which turned into 45.

*  Hurried off at 11:30 a.m. for McDonalds for lunch, then the library to get to the CVGS Bored meeting right on time.  Did I mention I was bored?  Left at 2 p.m. and was home by 2:15.

*  Added to the Best Of post, answered email, and wrote Which Record Provider Provides the Most Record Hints?  Checked Facebook.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to eat dinner and watch TV.  Put the trash out.

*  Online at 6 p.m. to read, then wrote the Treasure Chest post, and read blogs and email.

*  Went in at 7 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, read my book, did the dishes and read email and blogs on the tablet.  Padres lost to Dodgers 3-1 so now 1-2 on the season.  A good game.

*  Online at 10 p.m. to read, then wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 5.5 hours.

My Genealogy Tuesday - 4 April 2017

It was really not much of a genealogy day what with the dentist, my nap and the Padres game.  Oh well, I'll have to be more time efficient I guess.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read email and blogs, picked her up and home to note that Treasure Chest Tuesday - 1850 Marriage Record for Sjur Torgersen and Brita Olsdtr in Voss, Norway posted.

*  Left at 9:30 a.m. for the dentist (the root canal guy) and he essentially did it all again and gave me a temporary small tooth that the primary dentist will have to adapt to somehow.  Home by 12:15 with a numb mouth.

*  Read for awhile, hungry so had a pudding, and then took a 90 minute nap.

*  The numbness eventually wore off, and I read, added to the Best Of post, answered email and eventually wrote Dear Randy: Can I Make a Kinship Report in RootsMagic?.  Checked Facebook, and then wrote Latest Update from Family Tree Maker About FTM 2017.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. for dinner, then online after 6 to read, and write the Wordless Wednesday post.  Added to the Best Of post.

*  Went out at 7 p.m. to get some air, pulled some weeds, and came in with higher hopes for the Padres second game of the season.  Read the paper, washed the dishes, and read my Stephen Coonts book.  Padres beat the Dodgers 4-0 behind 8 innings of Clayton Richard and enough offense.  Padres now 1-1 on the season.  It may be the last time they're at .500.  Hope springs eternal.  Read email and blogs on the tablet.

*  Online at 10 p.m. to read, then wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 6.5 hours.

My Genealogy Sunday and Monday - 2 and 3 April 2017

These were not full genealogy days for different reasons.  The weather was nice too - high around 75 and sunny.  The mouth is feeling OK, have the check-out-the-root-canal appointment on Tuesday.

1)  Sunday, 2 April:

*  Read email and blogs while watching Meet the Depressed, and then off to church at 9:40 a.m. Home by 11:30 a.m.

*  Wrote and posted Updated information on Family Tree Maker 2017 Release, and finished up the Best Of blog.  Went in to eat lunch, read the paper and watch TV.  Took a nap watching game shows.

*  Online at 2 p.m. to read, started the new Best Of post, and noted that Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 26 March to 1 April 2017 posted.  Checked Facebook.  Transcribed the probate records for Monday.

*  Went out at 4 p.m. to mow the rest of the back yard - knee high weeds and grass.  Whew.  Came in at 5 p.m. to cool off and watch TV, have dinner, and wash dishes.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, noted that Added or Updated Databases at Ancestry.com - Week of 26 March to 1 April 2017 posted, and wrote the Amanuensis Monday post.

*  Answered email, added to the Best Of post, and checked Facebook.  Watched WDYTYA the Jessica Biel episode.  Genealogy this day was 7.0 hours.

2)  Monday, 3 April:

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read email and blogs, picked her up at 8:45 a.m. and home before 9.  Joined the Mondays With Myrt hangout and talked a bit about RootsMagic sync features.

*  Added to the Best Of blog, noted that  Added or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 26 March to 1 April 2017 and Amanuensis Monday -- 1692 Probate Record for Abigail Young (1628-1692) of Eastham, Mass. posted. Took a nap, and had lunch, and checked email and blogs before 1 p.m.

*  Went in at 1 p.m. to watch the Padres/Dodgers game from L.A.  Padres lost 14-3 so we're 0-1 on the season.  It was worse last year, we lost 16-0 in the opener to the Dodgers.  Pitching will suck this year, I fear.

*  Online at 4 p.m. to write Found - Sarah (Knapp) Auble (1818-1904) Death and Burial Records.  Checked Facebook and answered email.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to eat dinner, and did dishes, then watched the NCAA basketball championship.  Read email and blogs at halftime.  NC won 71-65 but it was closer than that.

*  Online at 8:40 p.m. to write the Treasure Chest post for Tuesday, then added to the Best Of post and wrote this post.  Genealogy this day was 6.5 hours.

My Genealogy Saturday - 1 April 2017

This was a somewhat different Saturday - gave a talk, did some reading, took a nice nap.  Hmm, sounds like most Saturdays these days!

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to put the wash in the dryer, read email, and off for the 8 a.m. men's group breakfast.  Picked Linda up at 9:30 and home by 9:45.  Read blogs, answered email, noted that  Surname Saturday - WEED (England to colonial Massachusetts) posted and wrote A Note From Jack Minsky on Family Tree Maker 2017 Shipping Plans.

*  Had lunch, took my meds, and checked Facebook and added to the Best Of post.  Noted that  Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Where Have You Visited? posted.

*  Went in to watch TV and had an hour nap in the recliner.  Online for awhile to read, then watched the NCAA game (Gonzaga and SC).  That was over at 5:15 so online to read briefly, and then packed up the laptop and off to my dinner.

*  Got to the Spring Valley Historical Society meeting before 6, in time for the potluck dinner, and have my "Be a Family History Detective" talk to the group of about 20.  Got a little tour of the museum in the Bancroft house.  They were welcoming and the food was good.  Home by 8:45 p.m.

*  Read email and blogs, checked Facebook and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.
