My Genealogy Thursday - 31 August 2017

This was my first really full genealogy day in awhile.  August is over - the year is two thirds gone.  Time sure flies when you're having fun.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read email and blogs, picked her up at 9 and home by 9:15 a.m.

*  Noted that 1735 Marriage Record for Jeremiah Knowlton and Sarah Allen in Sudbury, Massachusetts - - Post 380 of Treasure Chest Thursday posted and wrote UPDATE: FamilySearch Digital Records Access Replacing Microfilm.

*  Answered email, and went searching for Seaver data for one of them who wants her husband's genealogy.  She found it in my Scribd report.  Had to figure out which Seaver he was, finally got info and found content and sources for his two marriages.

*  Added to the Best Of post, and took my nap.  Had lunch, then online at 1 p.m. to read, and worked in FamilySearch Family Tree matching persons to RootsMagic and adding content and sources for a Seaver branch.  TreeShared the database in order to stimulate Hints.

*  Downloaded the CVGS photos from Wednesday, and researched and wrote Dear Randy: How and Why Do You Use the FamilySearch Family Tree?  Checked Twitter and Facebook.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. to watch TV news, eat dinner, read the paper, and wash dishes.  No Padres game tonight.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, then worked on and wrote the 52 Ancestors post for Friday.

*  Added to the Best Of post, and worked on the Place Index in RootsMagic standardizing the F to K place names.  This is an ongoing problem...

*  TreeShared again, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.5 hours.

My Genealogy Wednesday - 30 August 2017

It's been a long time since I journaled - at least 12 days and maybe more. Did you miss my fevered but rote prose?   Life has been busy between two visits of the grandkids, and Padres games, and life.  Lori and her boys were here from 8/18 to 8/23, and Tami's three kids were here from 8/25 to 8/28.  We went to the Padres games on 8/19 and 8/29, and watched the others on TV.  I took a nap almost every day!

I was able to keep up with my blog post schedule, writing when I had free time in the morning, afternoon, and evening.  I even managed to do some descendants research - mainly mining Ancestry Hints and adding content and sources to the database, syncing RootsMagic to the AMT, and carrying on.

Today was pretty much an all genealogy day, except for naptime and the Padres game on TV.

*  Dropped Linda at the Y, home to read and start the wash, then picked her up and home by 9:15 a.m.  Noted that Still More San Diego Zoo Fun in May 2013 - Post 479 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted, then wrote RootsTech 2018 Conference Registration Opens September 20, 2017! and set it for later.

*  Went in at 10:15 to take my nap, up at 11 a.m. to check email and blogs, then off to lunch at McDonalds and to the library for a book and to attend the CVGS program meeting.  There were five speakers on our most exciting research find, and I was #3.

*  Home by 2:30 p.m. to read blogs, add to the Best Of post, and search for and write Seavers in the News- John Seaver Walks 100 Miles in 100 hours in 1866.  Checked Twitter and Facebook.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch TV news, fix and eat dinner, then watched the Padres game.  Read the paper, put out the trash, washed dishes and read my L.T. Ryan novel on my tablet.  Padres beat the Giants 5-0, so now 59-74 on the season.  We go Saturday night and Sunday this weekend, then Tuesday night next week.

*  Online at 9:40 p.m. to read, then wrote the Treasure Chest post and this post.  Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

My Genealogy Friday - 18 August 2017

Another decent genealogy day with a major error fixed, and some blogging.  Lori and the boys come tomorrow for 4 nights, so blogging may be light.  Or not.

*  Dropped Linda off, went to the medical center for my blood test - I passed, home to read, and picked her up, and home by 9:10 a.m.

*  Noted that 52 Ancestors - Week 188: #267 Susanna (Wood) Reed (1724-1780) of Woburn and Marlborough, Massachusetts posted, and added to the Best Of post.  Answered some email.  Wrote New Records Available to Search This Findmypast Friday, 18 August 2017.

*  Had a nap, ate lunch, got the wash started, and online at 12:30 p.m. to start on the Genealogy News post.

*  Wrote the Surname and SNGF posts.  Then the Ancestry and FamilySearch posts.  Went looking for the Catherine Knapp obituary and finally found it.  That got me looking for the wife of Charles C. Knapp and I finally figured out that I had conflated two guys with the same name and birth year into one - one ends up in Indiana, the other in Iowa, contemporaneously.  Created the second guy, unhooked the wrong guy from the Knapp family, found content and sources, separated them on the Family Tree, and I'm glad I did the other stuff early!

*  Noted that Genealogy News Bytes - 18 August 2017 posted, and checked Facebook and Twitter.  Washed both cars.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV, then online to double check the Charles Knapp work, and TreeShared the new and changed persons in the database.  It won't let me disconnect the guy from his non-parents on the Ancestry Member Tree.  I had to do it manually in the AMT, just like I had to do it in the Family Tree.

*  Went in at 7:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, read my Kindle book, play two Sudoku games, and wash dishes.  Padres lost to Nationals 7-1, so now 54-68 on the season.

*  Online at 10 a.m. to read, then wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

My Genealogy Thursday - 17 August 2017

One more day for genealogy fun - then the grandchildren come to visit.  This was a stay-at-home day.

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read email and blogs, picked her up and we shopped at Ralphs, home by 9:40 a.m.

*  Noted that 1742/3 Marriage Record for Nathan Reed and Susanna Wood in Boston, Mass. - Post 378 of Treasure Chest Thursday posted, added to the Best Of post, and worked in FamilySearch Family Tree matching with RootsMagic persons on a Seaver line.  More to do on that line.

*  Rested my eyes but couldn't nap, had lunch, then online to answer email and wrote Seavers in the News - Elizabeth Seaver's 1851 Marriage.  Answered email, then TreeShared RootsMagic.  Got drowsy, so took a nap.

*  Checked Facebook and Twitter, then wrote Using WikiTree to Find Relationships to Famous Persons.  Added to the Best Of post.  Worked on and wrote the 52 Ancestors post.

*  Went in at 5 p.m. to eat dinner, read the paper, and watch TV news.  Online at 6 p.m. to read, then answered more email.  Checked Facebook again.

*  Went in at 7:10 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper and start my new book...but I found I'd already read it.  So got the tablet out and started one of the Kindle books.  Padres lost 2-1 to the Nationals, so now 54-67 on the year.  Did the dishes.

*  Online at 10:15 p.m. to read, write this post.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

My Genealogy Tuesday and Wednesday - 15-16 August 2017

*  We left at 5 p.m. for the trolley station, ate dinner at Tin Fish, and in Petco Park by 6:30 p.m.  Padres won 8-4 over Phillies, so now 53-66 on the season, and we are 8-7 in person (I think).  Home by 10:30 p.m. to read and go to bed.  Genealogy this day was 7.0 hours.

2)  Wednesday, 16 August:

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up and we went to the 99cent store.  Home by 10 a.m.

*  Noted that Added or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 6 to 12 August 2017 posted, and started putting my Exciting Find talk together.  Rested my eyes and ate lunch.

*  Checked Twitter and Facebook, puttered around in RootsMagic a bit, treeshared the new folks and sources.

*  Went in at 5:20 p.m. to watch TV news and eat dinner, washed dishes, and online at 6:30 p.m. to write the 52 Ancestors post, started the CVGS Newsletter, and then resolved about 150 Ancestry Hints for the new people in the big database.

*  Added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.5 hours.

My Genealogy Tuesday and Wednesday - 1-2 August 2017

And so August begins, warmish and muggy, thunder clouds overhead but no thunder/lightning here.

1)  Tuesday, 1 August 2017

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, picked her up and we went to Ralphs for groceries. Home by 9:45 a.m.

*  Added to the Best Of post, noted that Treasure Chest Tuesday - 1870 U.S. Census Record for John Brocke Family in Cedar County, Nebraska posted, and wrote Added or Updated Record Collections on MyHeritage - 1 August 2017.  Answered email, and took my nap.  Ate lunch.

*  Worked on the News post, then updated the AMT with TreeShare, and worked through more Ancestry Hints adding content and sources to the database.  Checked Facebook but forgot to tweet.  Finished up the Genealogy News Bytes -- 1 August 2017 post and let it go.

*  Worked some more on Ancestry Hints in RootsMagic.

*  We left at 4:50 p.m. for the trolley, ate dinner at Tin Fish, and in Petco Park by 6:40 p.m.  Padres beat the Twins 3-0 so now 48-58 on the season.

*  Home by 10:30 p.m., but didn't journal.  Genealogy this day was 7.0 hours.

2)  Wednesday, 2 August 2017:

*  Dropped Linda off, home to read, wrote Sax and Goldschmied Graves in Home of Peace Cemetery -- Post 475 for (Not So) Wordless Wednesday, picked her up, and home by 9:10 a.m.

*  Wrote CVGS Program Review - "Try to Remember -- Never Forget," printed off the Board stuff, and took my nap.

*  Left at 11 a.m. for lunch at McDonalds, then to the library to talk to John, and at 12 noon joined the board meeting.  Home by 1:30 p.m.  Watched the Padres game, read the paper, and dozed a bit.  Padres lost to Twins 5-2, so now 48-59.

*  Online at 3:15 p.m.  Added to the Best Of post, answered email, checked Twitter and Facebook, and wrote Changes to RootsMagic 7 in Version 7.5 and Updates.  Did some planning for the Saturday presentation at Bonita.

*  Went in at 5:20 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV news, put out the trash, etc.  Took my block walk.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to write the Treasure Chest post, matched AMT data and RM data, then worked for two hours in Ancestry Hints on the big tree, adding content and sources for the recent additions to the tree.  Resolved 180 Hints.  Sources up to 85,730.

*  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.5 hours.
