Genealogy Journal - 09/02/08

The calendar turns over, the days go by, and it's already September...I have a board meeting on the morrow, and have to get ready for the research trip to Carlsbad on Saturday. I'm kicking myself for not going to Philly for FGS on my free Southwest airlines ticket, but maybe next year.

After reading my email and blogs this morning, I posted LDS FamilySearch Labs Databases - Census Records to try to get a handle on what changes over time. I figure by posting this now, I can compare what is on the site later. I'll do it for vital and Church Records too, and maybe Land, Court and Probate too. I checked Facebook, then new Ancestry databases, and wrote the NGS NewsMagazine Table of Contents post and ranted about how bad some societies are in advertising their stuff... not in so many words, of course! I had lunch, then to go to the dentist for a filling repair. I was home by 12:30.

I spent most of the afternoon doing my ProGen assignment - a fee schedule and sample contract for my fledgling genealogy business. They still need work! I finally quit around 4, and wrote the CVGS Research Trip to Carlsbad on Saturday post, and checked Facebook. Linda came home, and I helped her, then went in to read the paper, watch the news, and have dinner. I came back in and worked for awhile in the LDS FHL Catalog for my Project M - there's a potential gold-mine surname book and some interesting county records. Then I went in to watch the Pubbie convention and the Padres game. After the game (we lost, 8-4), I went for a walk around the block, then read my email and blogs, and wrote this post.

Genealogy today was 6.5 hours - 0.5 hour doing email, 0.5 hour reading blogs, 1.5 hour writing blog posts, 0.5 hour on Facebook, 3.0 hours on the ProGen assignment, and 0.5 hour on Project M.
