Genealogy Journal - 05/18/08

This was a pretty typical Sunday - some reading, some blogging, some research, and major time away from genealogy.

I read my email and blogs before getting ready for church - and posted "Funny Place Names" after I got home. Thanks to Bill, I was able to spend about an hour finding wild and crazy and sometimes risque or rude place names. I loved it! Then it was time for lunch and the Padres game - the nap was a bonus.

After the game, I was back on at about 3:30, and posted "Best of the Genea-Blogs" for the week. This took almost an hour to compose. I received a comment on a post about the Tyler family, and did a bit of online searching to see if I could help my correspondent. The trail is pretty weak before 1880. It was dinner time, so we ate out in the back yard for the first time this year (it was about 85 F out there) in the shade, and then I watched the news for awhile. I didn't come back to the computer until about 7:30, and then only to read em,ail, blogs and print out my ProGen assignment for May. I watched Desperate Housewives and read my Saxons, Vikings and Celts book by Bryan Sykes. After 10, I came in to write this post and will call it a night.

Genealogy today was only about 4.0 hours - 0.5 hour reading email, 0.5 hour reading blogs, 2.0 hours researching and writing blog posts, and 1.0 hour doing the Tyler search.
