Well, it was exciting to me, at least!
* Read email and blogs, made Surname Saturday - WATHEN/WORTHEN (England > Massachusetts) post, and wrote Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Do Some Random Research.
* Decided I'd better get my column finished up before the editor complains that I'm late. Now I need to edit it a bit.
* Worked in the database for awhile, adding content and sources, and deleting extraneous families for whom I have no information and can find no useful or consistent information. good riddance!. Did a little weeding in the front yard too.
* We went to Lolita's for dinner, then home to watch the Padres lose 2-1 to the Giants (best game of the year, though! Darn errors and bad luck. Bass had a perfecto through 5.2 innings).
* Online at 8:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, get it ready for posting, wrote an Amanuensis Monday post, and worked in Find-a-Grave for awhile. Got through 640 in Seaver.
* Wrote this post.

My exciting genealogy day - 27 April 2012
Less than two weeks until we leave on our vacation to Europe. I have so much to do, and didn't get much of it done today. Again. At least the Padres won again.
* Read email and blogs, then wrote Follow-Up Friday - Helpful and Interesting Reader Comments.
* Captured screens and wrote up Using RootsMagic 5 to Add to the FamilySearch Family Tree.
* Left at 11 a.m. for the doctor's office. Home by 12:30 to eat lunch and read, then had to go ut again to the gas station, church and the bank because I forgot to do it earlier. Drat.
* Wrote the Surname Saturday post, and found some resources on AA that I didn't have, so downloaded 35 pages of NEHGR articles. Added the vital info to the database, but need the notes too. Will have to do that later!
* Went in at 5:30 p.m. to eat dinner. Back online by 6 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and write CVGS Program Summary - Dr. Steven Baird and another post.

My exciting genealogy day - 26 April 2012
It was a busy genealogy day, and then my Padres won tonight.
* Online early to read, then noted that Treasure Chest Thursday - Zachariah and Hannah Hildreth Death Records posted. Wrote Ancestry/Archives Comment Compendium.
* Packed up the laptop and left at 9:10 a.m. for Norman Park Center for the CVGS program to beginners. It started at 10 a.m., featured Susi, Randy, John and Janice, and was well received. I gave my 40 minute version of Genealogy - Be An Ancestry Detective.
* Stopped at McDonalds for lunch and was home by 1 p.m. Read everything, noted that the Ancestry.com TOS flap was fixed as I hoped it would be, and wrote Adding "Cause of Death" Fact to RootsMagic 5.
* Worked in the database for several hours, adding Cause of Death information, and BMD information for people without birth dates, mainly using the Mass VRs on American Ancestors and Ancestry census records to obtain data.
* Worked for 30 minutes on the back door screen installation, had dinner, and back online at 6 p.m. to read, check Facebook, and do some more database work.
* Went in at 7 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper and then my Michael Connelly book. Padres won 2-1 over Washington (6-14 on the season).
* Back online at 10 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and write this post.

Another exciting genealogy day - 25 April 2012
This was a very busy genealogy day - I even got some database work done in the evening.
* Read email and blogs, noted that (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Post 202: The Baseball Guys posted and wrote Dear Randy - Can You Describe Your Genealogy Workflow?
* Printed off 30 copies of my handout, got the laptop and CVGS bag together, and off at 10:15 to my PEO talk on "Genealogy - Be An Ancestor Detective" in Old Town.
* Got there early, got the laptop up and hooked up, and started at 11:10 a.m. Finished at 11:45, answered questions , disconnected, and off at 12 noon for the CVGS meeting.
* Got to the CV library at 12:25 p.m., and enjoyed the meeting and the speaker. Stuck around for awhile to meet with colleagues on Thursday talk.
* home by 2:45 p.m. to read, then connected to Ancestry phone call on Archives acquisition. That was over at 4 p.m., so I wrote it up in Comments on Archives.com Acquisition by Ancestry.com.
* Went in to watch the Padres game, read the paper, take a nap, and eat dinner (we lost to Nats 7-2, now 5-14).
* Back online at 6 p.m. for the Judy Russell webinar. Two hours non-stop of excellent legal advice about copyright. Judy answered questions for 45 minutes.
* Read everything, wrote the Treasure Chest Thursday post and screwed up - it posted tonight instead of Thursday...oh well. Worked in the database creating a "Cause of Death" Fact and added some to the database, plus added more census and occupation facts to the database with sources.
* Added to the Best Of post, wrote this post and i'm done. Now I realize I didn't index today. Oh well!

My genealogy day - 24 April 2012
I felt crappy all day long, headache, queasy tummy, slight fever, eyes aching. Hope I'm not coming down with something. I have presentations to do the next two days. Stayed home today again.
* Read email and blogs, then wrote Tuesday's Tip - Pennsylvania Collections on FamilySearch and then Lesson Learned: Don't Trust Online Family Trees.
* Wrote three posts for the week we're gone and one for Wednesday also. Copied files from flash drive to laptop today.
* Answered some emails, and had a phone call with a potential new member.
* Wrote Don't Forget to Register for SCGS Genealogy Jamboree.
* Worked in the database for several hours - adding content and sources while deleting loose persons. Database tonight is People = 41,266, Events = 111,515, and Sources = 28,061.
* Went in at 5:30 p.m. to eat dinner, back online to answer email, do some FamilySearch Indexing (one totally blank page, and a page with only 15 lines of data on it).
* Back to the recliner at 7 p.m. for the Padres game. We lost to Nationals 3-1 in a good game. Drat (5-13 now).
* Added to the Best Of post, and wrote this post.

* Watched the episode I missed of Finding Your Roots, then wrote Whose Charts are shown on PBS "Finding Your Roots" Series?
* Read Paul Larsen's new eBook, and wrote eBook Review - My Family History Toolbox, by Paul Larsen.
* Worked in the database, adding content and sources - got into the Ann listings. Finding that I can get birth/marriage/death info for about 80% of the ones that are completely blank between AMTs, census records, and vital records.
* Went in for dinner at 5;30 p.m., read the paper, and watched TV.
* Back online at 7 p.m. to transfer data to the flash drive to transfer to the laptop. Read everything and added to the Best Of post. Made airplane seat reservations tonight.

19 days until we go on our cruise. I need to start writing posts for those two weeks. Also need to work on the two cruise talks.
* Read email and blogs, then wrote Follow-Up Friday - This Week's Reader Comments and Questions.
* Worked on Barry's research problem for an hour looking for Donna's dad... wrote an email back about it. Decided I could blog about it too, so wrote Dear Randy - Help Me Find Donna's Father's Name.
* Went off at 1:45 p.m. to get a haircut, and home by 2:30 p.m. Worked in the database for awhile, then wrote the Surname Saturday post.
* Went in at 5:430 to eat dinner, and back online to research Hannah Smith. Some trees say her parents were Richard Smith and Hannah Cheney. I don't have enough info to make that conclusion. No recent works on richard smith of Newbury MA to help em.
* Went in at 7 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and read my book. The Pads lost 4-1 to the Phillies (now 3-13).
* Back to work at 10 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook and write this post. No Indexing tonight.
* The database-- People = 41261, Events = 111144, Sources = 27801. I deleted more no-info persons today, mainly from the Remley tree stump. Have worked my way down to Anderson on the Person list.

1) Saturday, 21 April 2012
* Read email and blogs, then off to breakfast at Jimmy's for the men's Bible study. Studied Mormonism. Good breakfast - I love bacon and eggs, with an English muffin.
* Home by 9:30 a.m. to post Surname Saturday - HEALEY (England > Massachusetts > New Hampshire).
* Wrote Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Do a Wordle Cloud and set it for later. blogger's scheduling still not working.
* Worked in the database for awhile, finding census and VR records for persons in my database. Down to the Ann collection...this may take awhile. Also added lots of occupation and census facts for Seaver family members.
* Did a batch of Indexing, and checked the last two batches. Messed up all of the freaking line numbers ... did 1 to 40, they were 41 to 80. The only mistakes on that batch - got 92% to bring my average down to 97%.
* Worked some more in the database.
* We left at 3:30 p.m. for the Padres game. Got a new Padres hat. Had Filippi's pizza at Petco for dinner. Pads beat the Phils 5-1 in a good game (now 4-12, still in last place).
* Home by 9 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, check Facebook, and decided not to journal tonight.

* Made our hotel reservations for Jamboree - just need the train tickets now. Still need to buy airline seat reservations. Worked in the database for awhile.
* Went in at 1 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, and doze off. Pads beat the Phils 6-1 (now 5-12, first 2-game streak of the season).
* Online for awhile at 4 p.m. to work on my source citation talk.
* Went in at 5:30 p.m. for dinner, then watched 5th Grader. Online at 7 p.m. to read, did an Indexing batch (got 99% on the last batch - 5 name errors that I think I did right). Posted CVGS Program on 25 April - Dr. Steven Baird: Terms for Causes of Death.
* Watched Finding Your Roots tonight with Downey and Gyllenhaal. Good episode, lots of history, great family tree charts (where did they do them?), and the DNA too.
* Started the next Best Of post, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.

My genealogy day - 19 April 2012
It was a stay at home genealogy day, and then a night out!
* Read email and blogs, wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - 1950 San Diego Plat Map. Then wrote Patriot's Day: My Revolutionary War Soldiers.
* Worked a bit on my FORUM column, but nowhere near done. Did some research on smart phones, tablets and readers. Updated apps on the Samsung and the iPhone. Went out and weeded the walkway a bit.
* Had fun finding Ted in the census, and wrote up Ted Williams in the 1940 U.S. Census. Did a batch of FamilySearch Indexing - still in Glendale, Los Angeles County, CA.
* Worked in the database for several hours (hmmm, need to work on my column, and get the two talks for May ready, and work on my two new talks for July) adding content and sources. Now through the "Al" people. "Am" people up next. At this rate, the database will be in good shape by about 2015.
* Went in at 5:15 p.m. to read the paper, and we left at 5:30 for dinner in Coronado and then to Lamb's Players Theater for "Brownie Points." A chick play, but funny and interesting. Short too, which was good.
* Home by 9:30 to watch the 9th inning of the Padres/Phillies game. We lost 2-0 (now 3-11).
* Online to add to the Best Of post, check Facebook and write this post.

* Read email and blogs, wrote (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Post 201: Christmas 1967 and then CGSSD Meeting on Saturday, 21 April on Computer Security.
* Edited the two talks for next week.
* Wrote Results from Ancestry.com Autosomal DNA Test - Post 2 and set it for later. The Blogger scheduler isn't working now... hope it gets fixed soon!
* Packed up and went off at 11 a.m. to McDonalds for lunch, the bank and the library for the CVGS Computer Group. That could have gone better - too many computers not working, and too slow on the Internet. Got lost in Chronicling America - couldn't find the newspaper search field. Drat. Found several people in the census for others.
* Home by 2 p.m. to read, then wrote I Found a Bride of Frankenstein in the 1940 U.S. Census and set it for later. Worked in the database for awhile, finding dates/places in American Ancestors and Ancestry census records.

* Went out at 4:15 p.m. to mow the front lawn. In by 5 p.m. to read the paper, then watch the Padres, eat dinner, put out the trash, and wash the dishes. Read a bit of my new Ireland Research book. Padres lost 8-4 to Rockies (now 3-10).
* Online at 8:30 p.m. to read, did a batch of FamilySearch Indexing, added to the Best Of post, checked in on Facebook, and wrote this post.
Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.
