This was another full genealogy day - and I got some things accomplished.
* Read email and blogs, then wrote (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Post 243: Christmas Dinner, 1967 and CGSSD Meeting on Saturday, 16 February Features Barbara Renick and set it for later.
* Prepped the laptop bag, and left at 11 a.m. for McDonalds for lunch, then to the library for CVGS Research Group. Got new laptop and projector set up, piece of cake, and the tablet hot spot worked well in the auditorium.
* Hosted research group from 12 to 2, then stopped at the drug store for a V-day card, and home by 2:30 p.m.
* Read, then wrote Happy to Finally Have Some AncestryDNA Hints. Answered some Ancestry messages.
* Went in at 5 p.m. to read the paper, watch TV news, woke Linda up from nap at 6 for dinner, and put out the trash.
* Online at 7 p.m. to answer email, then add to Vaux to-do list and do some research to see if records exist in Cloud County, Kansas. They do, but access may be a challenge. Some not on FHL microfilm.
* Worked on Find a Grave record matches on MyHeritage - got 23 more done, down to 592 to reject/confirm now. Probably another 6-8 weeks of pecking away at this. I'm finding I have many of the matches already in the program and sourced. Added about 70 sources tonight.
* Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, and wrote thisp ost.

My genealogy day - 12 February 2013
This was a pretty full genealogy day, except for the two interruptions...
* After reading email and blogs, wrote Tombstone Tuesday - Samuel and Mary Ann Vaux. Added my nominations and then wrote Nominations Open for Genealogy Readers Choice Awards.
* Edited my Jane's Roots presentation for the BASH, then worked a bit on the Ancestry presentation, which needs new graphics; gotta get these down to 50 minutes...so deleted some of the time-waster slides.
* After lunch, went off at 12:30 p.m. to the hygienist. Home by 2:15 p.m.
* Discussed Evidentia a bit in DearMyrtle's community, after commenting on one of Russ's blog posts about the report. Added my Talks to the Box.com site - for some reason they didn't load yesterday. Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, answered some email, and finally wrote New Ancestry.com Record Collections since 1 January 2013.
* Went in to read the paper, watch TV, eat dinner, watch the SOTU, and wash dishes.
* Online at 7:45 p.m. to read, more comment on Evidentia, then worked in Find A Grave matches on MyHeritage. Got down to 616 to confirm/reject. Added about 80 sources today.

My non-genealogy days - 9-11 February 2013
Well, I guess today was a semi-genealogy day, but it didn't feel like it!
1) Saturday, 9 February:
* Read email and blogs, noted that Surname Saturday - SHEPARD (England > Massachusetts) posted.
* Had to stay home until after 10 a.m. with the girls until Linda came home, then off to the 10 a.m. SDGS meeting to hear Gena Ortega's two talks. Home by 1 p.m.
* Noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Valentine's Day! posted. Got laptop setup for the girls in the dining room, they took a nap, and I took a nap.
* Watched and played with the girls in late afternoon and evening. I did more on the CVGS newsletter. They stayed up late, finally to sleep at 11 p.m. I read on computer, got the Best Of post ready to go. No research.
Genealogy this day was maybe 5.0 hours.
2) Sunday, 10 February:
* Read email and blogs, got the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 3 to 9 February 2013 post finished.
* Off to church at 9:30 a.m., Lauren and I home by 11:30, Linda and Audrey went shopping and got home at 1 p.m. Lauren and I had lunch, she played on the laptop, I worked online reading, and worked on the CVGS newsletter - almost finished.
* Did no real research today...but read a lot, and kept the girls in line. They were asleep by 10 p.m.
Genealogy today was maybe 5.0 hours.
3) Monday, 11 February:
* The girls slept in, so I had the email and blogs read and Amanuensis Monday - Probate Records of Matthew Wing (1674-1724) of Dartmouth, Mass. written by 8:30 a.m.
* Listened off and on to DearMYRTLE's webinar from 9 to 10:30, while keeping two laptops running in separate rooms. That worked pretty well! Got the girls packed up, tried to find everything they brought. They watched TV too, and I read quite a bit online.
* Researched and wrote Creating the Land Record Source Citation in RootsMagic 6 after lunch, and Tami came at 1 p.m. just as we were starting scootering on the sidewalk. The girls were really happy to see their mom. They left at 2 p.m. for home.
* Finished up the CVGS Newsletter, printed a master copy and the revised mailing list, and got to the UPS Store at 3 p.m., and home at 3:30 p.m. Done! Emailed it to the email list.
* Answered some emails, and wrote Review: Legacy QuickGuide on Using Historical Newspapers for Genealogy Research.
* Went in for dinner at 5 p.m., read the paper, watched TV news, did the dishes.
* Online again at 6:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and found some Dyar memorials on Find A Grave, so added those. Got started in Ancestry with Chat* names, and got mostly through the Cheney names. Added data and sources using VR books, AmericanAncestors, and Ancestry searches.
* Checked Facebook, and wrote this post.

My non-genealogy days - 7 and 8 February 2013
Our daily routine changed a bit on Thursday - we went and brought the grandgirls home with us in the evening.
1) Thursday, 7 February:
* After reading email and blogs, wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - 1885 Nebraska State Census Record for D J Smith Family.
* Worked on the Erie County Land Records for James and Samuel Vaux some more - got a sentence put together for the Deed Fact, then added Deed Facts, sources, notes and media for them.
* Wrote Entering Deed Information into RootsMagic 6 to try to document how I did the above. Worked more in the database on land records, media, etc.
* Tami called at 3 p.m. saying she was at the ER and needed us to come get the girls so that they could deal with her problem. We left at 5 p.m. and got to HB at 7, left there at 7:30 and were home by 9 p.m. Got email from Tami at 9 saying things were better, she was going to be discharged, and exhausted.
* Got girls down easily, and read, but didn't do any research or journal.
Genealogy this day was 6.5 hours at most.
2) Friday, 8 February:
* Got the girls fed, entertained and dressed, and was able to read email and blogs while they watched TV and played. Set up the old laptop in the bedroom so they could play games and watch Disney videos on it.
* Wrote Follow-Up Friday - Helpful and Interesting Reader Comments in between grandgirl crises. It didn't help that it was cold and windy and rainy all day.
* Wrote 'Tis a Mystery - What do these numbers mean? and Congratulations, Dona Ritchie! You're the Winner while negotiating peace amongst grandgirls often.
* Searched Find A Grave on a whim, and Samuel and Mary Ann (Underhill) Vaux were listed - added on 1 September 2012. They're buried in Concordia, Cloud, Kansas. The entry has birth and death dates, neither of which I had exactly. No other information, but now that I know more, I can pursue obituaries and probate records. A nice find for the day!
* Went searching for more info on the Woodward children, and found that Orpha did not marry Needham - another Orpha did. Deleted the Needhams! Now I don't have a spouse for her. spent time in the 1900-1940 census looking for an Orpha and an Ada that matched what I knew and found nothing. They must have passed away between 1900 and 1910. I wonder if there are burial records? Not on Find A Grave yet.
* Took the girls out to ride scooters at 4 p.m., and after 10 minutes it started raining again. They were cold anyway.
* We left at 5 p.m. for dinner at El Pollo Loco. Home by 6:30 p.m. to have dessert (the girls love my chocolate Dove bars - a big treat!), get them bathed and jammied, then read to. Both went to bed easily, but Audrey was up and I finally had to lie down with her for 30 minutes.
* She was asleep by 9:45, so was able to read, add to the Best Of post and write this post.
Genealogy today was about 7.0 hours.

The days are just rolling by - it's 3 weeks until the BASH, and 6 weeks to RootsTech!
* Read email and blogs, wrote (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Post 242: My First Airplane Flight and then SDGS Program is 9 February: Gena Philibert Ortega.
* Did more work in GenealogyBank, answered some emails, printed off the CVGS papers, and the computer slowed way down, and took awhile to reboot.
* Gathered papers and off to the pharmacy, McDonalds for lunch, the bank for money, and the library for the CVGS Board meeting.
* Had to do meeting in the auditorium...AARP using the Conference Room for taxes. We made do.
* Home by 3 p.m. to read then wrote GenealogyBank Shows Off New Features. I really like the new search and result and paper image changes. Checked Facebook and Twitter and Google Plus...finally went in at 5 p.m. Put out the trash, read the paper, watched TV news, ate dinner and washed the dishes.

It was another stay-at-home genealogy day - cool and cloudy today, high was only 58F here.
* Read email and blogs, wrote Tuesday's Tip - Look for Recent Obituaries in Google, Tributes and Legacy and then worked on and posted Finding Plat Maps for the James Vaux Land Holdings.
* Worked on and finished the two CVGS surveys, made them PDFs and sent them to the CVGS Board members.
* Watched Crista's latest livestream on being a professional researcher using Ancestry. some good tips there.
* Answered some email, wrote 2013 Freeman Student Genealogy Grant Announced and then Making a Photo Tree in RootsMagic 6. Noted that Program Review - "Creating Your Life's Story" posted on the CVGS blog.
* Went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV news, read the paper, eat dinner, and do the dishes.
* Back online at 7 p.m. to read, check Facebook, add to the Best Of post, then worked in the database adding content and sources. Now down to the Chat surnames. A long way to go! Found an adoption that nobody else has found, I think! Wrote this post.

* Posted CVGS Seminar on Saturday, 30 March: CeCe Moore on "Do Your Genes Fit? Discover Your DNA." Worked on Putting the Land Records Together for James Vaux (1787-1839) and set it for afternoon.
* Printed off the SOPs for the CVGS Bylaws meeting, and went off at 1:45 p.m. to John's house. Great food...and we got quite a bit done.
* Home by 4:15 p.m. to read, then abstracted all of the James Vaux deeds in Notes for James.

My genealogy day - 3 February 2013
This was not much of a genealogy day...but it was Super Bowl Sunday!
* After reading emails and blogs, I finished up and set Best of the Genea-Blogs - 27 January to 2 February 2013 to post after noon.
* We left for church at 9:30 a.m., and I got home at 12 noon. Read a bit, then went in to watch 8 horus of Super Bowl TV.
* Got the paper read, and a short nap, and then the NGS Newsmagazine, before the game. Ravens won 34-31, but it was close in the second half and one of the better games.
* Online at 8:30 p.m. to read, start the next Best Of post, and work in Find A Grave matches on MyHeritage. Got 13 more confirmed, but added about 90 sources because I found some VR sources for some of the people.
* Checked Facebook, and wrote thisp ost. Genealogy today was 3.0 hours at most.

* Home by 9:45 a.m., finished reading, noted that Surname Saturday - WIGHT (England > Medfield, Mass.) posted, and wrote Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - The Super Bowl! and set it for later.
* Worked on the two Standard Operating Procedures for the CVGS Newsletter Editor and Research/Queries Chair positions on the Board.
* Found the rest of the Vaux and Underhill deeds in Erie County NY (before 1859), captured the index entries and the deed records, renamed them, and added them to the research log.
* Checked Facebook, watched DearMYRTLE's hangout on Evidentia, and went in at 5 p.m. to watch TV, read the paper, and eat dinner.

One month down for 2013, 11 to go. This month is not too busy, but March will be a bear!
* After reading email and blogs, wrote Follow-Up Friday - Helpful and Interesting Reader Comments. Wrote Review: Legacy QuickGuide on Ontario Genealogy and set it for early afternoon.
* Wrote CVGS Workshop - Saturday, 2 February, 12 noon, Genealogy Days in Chula Vista - February 2013 and one more post on the CVGS blog.
* Worked on the CVGS member survey tabulation some more - almost done now. Still need to do two SOPs and type up the program survey. Answered email.
* Wrote Dear Randy: What Record Collection Would You Like To Have Indexed? Checked Facebook.
* Went in to watch TV, take a nap, eat dinner and do chores before getting online again at 7 p.m.
* Read, added to the Best Of post, wrote the Surname Saturday post, then did some random searching for folks in the database - added some content and sources. Got wrapped up in several families and found records in CT, MA and RI. Never got to the Find A Grave record matches!
Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.
