My Geneaholic Thursday - 30 April 2015

Four months gone, 8 months to go for 2015.  This was an all-genealogy day at the keyboard, hardly a break, mainly because the Padres were idle, and hopefully thinking about breaking their 1-5 home slump.

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 260: 1827 Bounty Land Warrant Awarded to Martin Carringer and More HistoryLines Information - Post 6: Answers to Questions/Comments and set it for later.

*  Answered email, added to the Best Of post, then worked on the Ancestry presentation.  Got through about 60% of it editing text and replacing images.  Many changes on Ancestry since the last presentation on this a year ago.

*  Researched and wrote Down the Rabbit Hole Again -- Finding New Jersey Ancestors Probate Abstracts then added events, notes and sources for the direct ancestors on the list.  Checked Facebook and Google+.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. to watch TV news, eat dinner, read the paper, and then the NFL Draft.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, then got the 52 Ancestors sketch ready to go.  Tuned into Russ's Office Hours Hangout and enjoyed talking to Russ, True and Molly.  I added content from the AMT Hints to my database over the last 45 minutes.

*  Read, checked Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.5 hours.

Here are the numbers from my RootsMagic database as of 30 April (with increases in the numbers from 31 March in parentheses):

My Geneaholic Wednesday - 29 April 2015

This was a fairly full genealogy day - it's about time!

*  Read email and blogs, wrote Pre-Wedding Rehearsal Dinner -- Post 357 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and CVGS Saturday Workshop on 2 May 2015 and set it for later in the morning.  Then wrote HistoryLines Launch - Post 5: Saving or Printing Your Story and set it for the afternoon.

*  Worked on the FamilySearch handout for Saturday. Went off at 11 a.m. to McDonalds for lunch, to the bank for yenom, to the library to turn in my books and attend the CVGS program.  Got a book on the way out.

*  Home at 2:15 p.m. to read the paper, watch the end of the Padres game, they lost to Houston, so now 11-12.  Bleh. Linda wanted to work on her Chromebook but it wouldn't turn on without the charger.  Drat.  She was really slow trying to learn Gmail and Facebook.  Finally got her writing an email, and was able to at least read my email and blogs.  Added to the Best Of post.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. to watch TV news, eat dinner, put out the trash, water the front yard, and wash dishes.

*  Online at 6:45 p.m. to read, check Facebook, then did 20 1920 census items so down to 734 to go, sources at 62,041.

*  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.5 hours.

My Genealogy Days - 27-28 April 2015

Baseball season sure cramps my genealogy research...only 5 months left to go!

1)  Monday, 27 April 2015

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Amanuensis Monday - Post 265: Will of Christopher Bartlett (1655-1711) of Haverhill, Mass. posted.

*  Joined Mondays With Myrt and didn't have much to say.

*  Noted that New or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - April 20 to 26, 2015 posted and added content to the HistoryLines story for Georgianna Kemp, then wrote HistoryLines Launched Last Week - Post 4: A Canadian/American Story and set it for later.

*  Answered email, checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, took a short nap, and did a little online research, then worked in FamilySearch Family Tree matching folks with my RootsMagic database.

*  We left at 4:45 p.m. for the trolley station, ate at Tin Fishand in Petco Park by 6:20 p.m.  Read the paper, had my ice cream, and watched Padres lose 9-5 to the Astros.  We left in the 8th inning and were home by 11:15 p.m.  Boring.

*  Read quickly, added to the Best Of post and off to bed.  Genealogy this day was 7.5 hours.

2)  Tuesday, 28 April 2015

*  Read email and blogs, then wrote Tuesday's Tip - New York County Marriages, 1847-1848 and 1908-1936 on FamilySearch and A Gravestone for 3rd Great-Grandfather Daniel Spangler (1781-1851) and set it for later.

*  Worked on the Pennsylvania presentation for awhile, added the last big piece to it and edited the handout too.  I think it's ready!  Just in time for 17 May.

*  Added to the Best Of post, answered email, checked Facebook, and did some searching for Spangler and Carringer in the Pennsylvania Septennial census and Tax and Exoneration books.

*  Worked to add my 23andMe tree to MyHeritage, and wrote it up in  Switching my 23andMe Family Tree to MyHeritage.  Watched Angie Bush's presentation on GEDMatch and checked my GEDMatch data.  Tried to upload a GEDCOM but it was probably too big - it stalled out.

*  Took a 30 minute nap (needed these lately) and worked a bit in the FamilySearch Family Tree again, and found more Carringer and Feather records in Pennsylvania.  Captured them and added the images to the collection.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch TV news and eat dinner, then online for awhile to add to the Best Of post and answer email.

*  Watched the Padres game, read the paper, did the dishes and read my book, then got the laptop out and read email and blogs and Facebook while watching the Padres lose 14-3 to the Astros.  Crap.  Now 11-11, and 1-4 on the homestand.

*  Online to write this and I'm done.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

My Semi-Genealogy Day - 26 April 2015

I actually did a little research tonight, and my Padres won, so a good day.

*  Read email and blogs, and finished up the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 19 to 25 April 2015 post.

*  Went off to church at 9:30 a.m. and then to lunch with Gil and Lynda at Marie Callenders.  Home at 1:15 p.m.

*  Watched the Padres game, read the paper, took a nap.  Pads beat the Dodgers 301, so now 11-9, 1 game back of Dodgers.

*  Online at 3:45 p.m. to read, then wrote CVGS Meeting on Wednesday, 29 April - Donie Nelson on "Family Stories" and Added or Updated Databases at Ancestry.com - Week of April 19 to 25, 2015 and set it for later.  Wrote another post for Monday too.

*  Went in for dinner at 5:15 p.m., watched TV news, watered the front yard and washed dishes.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, transcribed a will and wrote the Amanuensis post for Monday.  Did 20 more 1920 census families adding content and sources.  Down to 763 left.  Sources at 61,959.

*  Checked Facebook, added to the Best Of post, answered email, and wrote this post.  Will watch WDYTYA? in awhile.  Genealogy today was 5.0 hours.

My Semi-Genealogy Saturday - 25 April 2015

Absolutely no progress today in research, but it was an interesting genealogy Saturday.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Surname Saturday - ADAMS (England to colonial Massachusetts) posted.  Wrote the SNGF post and set it for later.

*  Left at 9:45 a.m. for the trolley station to go to the San Diego Central Library to celebrate the dedication of the SDGS books to the library.  I got there by 10:30 a.m. and got into the library with Chris' help.  Had a nice reception on the 9th floor patio (it almost rained) and then inside for short talks by past Presidents and rick Crawford of the library.  About 40 were there and I enjoyed talking to a number of them.

*  I was going to do some research, but Pam Journey asked if I wanted to go to lunch with them, Chris, Phyllis and Gloria and I said yes.  We ended up at Dave and Busters in Mission Valley, that's an interesting place.  Gene and Pam dropped me at the Mission Valley trolley station at 2:40 p.m. and I took the Green line to downtown and onto the Blue line back to CV and drove home, arriving before 4 p.m.

*  Read, noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - A Favorite Family Photograph posted, added to the Best Of post, and finally went in for a short 20 minute nap.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to eat dinner, read the paper and watch the Padres game.  Dodgers won 11-8 but it wasn't that close.  Pads are 10-9 and lost 4 straight.  Drat.

*  Online at 9:15 p.m. to read, check Facebook, answer email.  Genealogy today was 4.5 hours.

My Genealogy Friday - 24 April 2015

So April is almost gone, and what have I accomplished?  Not a whole lot, I fear!  It's been a month of dental work for me and eye work for Linda.

*  Read email and blogs, and noted that 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 69: #78 Isaac Buck (1757-1846) posted.  Wrote HistoryLines Launched This Week - Post 3: An English Story and set it for later.

*  Left at 10 a.m. for the dentist offices for deep cleaning and root planing on the left hand side of my mouth.  That was a long-lasting hour, but I endured without much pain or agony.  Last episode is 15 May.  Expensive too...no dental insurance.

*  Home by 12 noon to eat some apple sauce for lunch, then online to read, add to the Best Of post, and go down the Mulford rabbit trail as genealogy therapy.  Wrote Genea-Therapy: Down the Mulford Rabbit Trail Today.

*  Checked Facebook, answered email and went in for a 30 minute nap.  Up at 4:20 p.m. to read, and saw my Find A Grave request was completed.  Cool!  Daniel Spangler's gravestone is very weathered.  That's OK.  Saved it and need to add it to his profile in RootsMagic.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch TV news and eat dinner - had soft beef stew and successfully avoided using the left side to chew.  Online at 6:30 p.m. to add some more burial records from Find A Grave to folks in Mercer County, Pennsylvania.

*  Went in at 7:15 p.m. to watch the Padres-Dodgers game.  My brother-in-law called with news of his birthday party in September.  I read the paper and then my book, and Pads lost 3-0 to the dodgers.  Now 10-8 and 1 game out of first.

*  Online at 10:15 p.m. to read, then write this post.  Genealogy today was 7.5 hours.

My Genealogy Mid-Week - 21-23 April 2015

Where did the week go?  Well, life, and genealogy intervened.

1)  Tuesday, 21 April 2015:

*  Linda had an eye doctor's appointment at 11:30, and that turned out well.  We went to lunch, then to Liz's for our financial review.  I have some homework to do.

*  Home by 4 p.m. to read, write a blog post, and then we had dinner and watched the Padres game.  We won 14-3.  Wrote a blog post for Wednesday.

2)  Wednesday, 22 April 2015:

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Post-Wedding Reception in San Francisco -- Post 356 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday posted, then wrote HistoryLines Launched This Week - Post 1 and set it for later, and wrote SCGS Genealogy Jamboree News - Early Bird Registration Ends 30 April and set it for later.

*  We left at 11:30 a.m. for Huntington Beach, stopped at In n Out for lunch, then on to the motel, and to Tami's at 2:30 p.m.  They got home at 3:30 so I had 90 minutes with the grandkids.  Charlie is a chunk!  Had fun with him, he wants to pull my beard hairs.  Linda stayed there, then went shopping for Audrey's birthday present and dinner, and Tami dropped her at the motel.

*  I left at 5 p.m. to get to Torrance for my presentation at 7 p.m. Got there by 6:10, traffic wasn't too bad, got a Togo sandwich for dinner, and was at the library by 6:30 p.m.  The talk went well, the folks were nice, fun to see Connie and Jane again.  Back to the motel by 9:30 p.m.  Read email and blogs on the phone.

3)  Thursday, 23 April 2015:

*  Read email and blogs on the phone, and we headed home at 9 a.m.  Home at 10:30 a.m.  I read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and noted that Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 259: 1829 Death Notice of Zachariah Hildreth (1754-1829) posted.

*  Wrote HistoryLines Launched This Week - Post 2 and had lunch.  Then went in to watch the Padres game, took a nap and we lost 2-1 to the Rockies.  Pads now 10-7 on the season, but tied for first.

*  Online at 3:15 p.m. to research and write Finding More Cousins in FamilySearch Family Tree Using Puzzilla.  Answered email and checked Facebook.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch TV, eat dinner, water the front yard and wash dishes.  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and then write the 52 Ancestors post.

*  Tried to use Ancestry to add to the database but the computer got slow, so rebooted and it was better, but Ancestry was down for me.  Shoot.  Maybe it works now?  Of course it does.

*  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 6.5 hours.

My Geneaholic Monday - 20 April 2015

It was just another geneaholic Monday - I drank the genea-kool-aid all day and my Padres played a great game.  All's well in the genea-cave tonight.  Except I didn't get any real research done today.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Amanuensis Monday - Post 264: 1804 Deed of Josiah Sawtell to Samuel Hale in Brookline, N.H. posted.  Worked a bit in the MyHeritage Instant discoveries.

*  Joined the weekly Mondays With Myrt and was able to demonstrate and discuss the MyHeritage Instant Discovery process.

*  Worked more in Instant Discoveries, and noted that New or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - April 13 to 19, 2015 posted.  Then wrote  MyHeritage Introduces Instant Discoveries to all Users and set it for later.

*  Researched and wrote two posts for Tuesday since we'll be gone half the day.  Answered email, tried to tabulate my AncestryDNA cousins in a spreadsheet, and added to the Best Of post.  Checked Facebook and Google+.  Found some records for Stephen Feather on Ancestry.

*  Went in for dinner at 5:30 p.m., read the paper, then watched the Padres beat the Rockies 14-3 and it wasn't that close.  Pads now 9-5 on the season and in second place in the NL West.  Got the updated presentation on the laptop.

*  Online at 9 p.m. to read, write Join Me at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, 22 April for "Probate Records" Talk in Torrance, Calif. and then write this post.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

Sunday, April 19, 2015

My Geneaholic Sunday - 19 April 2015

This was almost an all-genealogy day - rare!  Only the Padres game and food interfered.

*  Read email and blogs, and finished up the Best of the Genea-Blogs - 12 to 18 April 2015 post.  I didn't go to church but Linda did.

*  Worked on adding more images to the Probate talk.  Found a few, need more.

*  Linda home, and the Padres game started at 11:20 a.m.  Padres beat the Cubs 5-2, so now we're 8-5 on the season.

*  Online at 2:15 p.m. to read, write Added or Updated Databases at Ancestry.com - Week of April 12 to 18, 2015 and set it for later.  Wrote the FamilySearch post for Monday.

*  Transcribed the one Josiah Sawtell deed I have from New Hampshire.  Worked in Massachusetts Land Records looking for Josiah deeds also.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch TV news, eat dinner, and wash dishes.  Online at 7 p.m. to read, then wrote the Amanuensis Monday post.  Answered email, checked Facebook, and looked for the Josiah deeds in Middlesex County, Mass.  There were lots for his son.

*  Decided to look for where Josiah lived in Brookline NH.  Downloaded the Brookline history book from Internet Archive,  and found Nathaniel Patten's sketch which describes where he lived.  Found the 1892 Brookline map on the Rumsey site but no names ring a bell.  I have an approximate two mile stretch above the Massachusetts border as a possible location right on the Mason town line.

*  Checked Facebook, Google+, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.5 hours.

Saturday, April 18, 2015

My Genealogy Saturday - 18 April 2015

This was CGSSD day, and the Padres were at Chicago Cubs.

*  Read email, but not blogs, got off by 8:05 a.m. to meet John for the ride to the CGSSD meeting at UCSD.  After 45 minute discussion, group voted 34-9 to merge with SDGS.  There goes a yearly speaking gig.

*  In the second hour, John gave his Civil War talk and it was excellent.  We made it back to Chula Vista by 12:15 p.m.

*  I watched the Padres/Cub game.  Pads came back from 6-2 in the top of the 9th, but Cubs won 7-6 in the 11th.  Drat.

*  Online at 2:30 p.m. to read blogs, noted that Surname Saturday - MASON (England to colonial Massachusetts) and Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - The "When I Was Young" Genea-Meme, Part 3 posted.

*  Checked Facebook and Google+, and answered Ancestry messages.  Looked at my 23and Me matches again, sent out some invitations to share.  Got one back - looks like a 4th cousin, maybe a White.  Also checked Linda's - she has two Leland 2nd-3rd cousin matches.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. for dinner, and watch TV.  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, then did 22 Hints in the 1920 US census.  Added content and sources.  Sources at 61,839.

*  Added to the Best Of post, and got it ready for Sunday.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

Friday, April 17, 2015

My Geneaholic Friday - 17 April 2015

It was another stay-at-home day, but not all genealogy related.  The Padres game and a nap interfered.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 68: #74 Hannah (Smith) Sawtell (1768-1827).

*  Answered email, looked at NYGBR and TEG on AmericanAncestors, and then went in at 11:15 a.m. to watch the Padres game.  Pads beat Cubs 5-4.  Now 7-4.

*  Online at 2:15 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and write How Good Are Geni.com Tree Matches?  Not very...  Wrote the Surname Saturday post, checked Facebook, then went in and took a nap at 4:30.

*  Checked Facebook, wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 8.0 hours.

Thursday, April 16, 2015

My Geneaholic Thursday - 16 April 2015

Finally, an all-genealogy day, first one in awhile.

*  Read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and wrote Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 258: 1757 Marriage Record of Ephraim Sawtell and Abigail Stone.

*  Worked on the Pennsylvania handout, and got it pretty much done.  Need to compare with the slides and critically edit both again.

*  Wrote the Ancestry Academy Launched Today post but set it for later until I had the go-ahead to post it.

*  Worked in the MyHeritage app and wrote Updated MyHeritage iOS Mobile App - Research Features.

*  Went in at 3 p.m. and rested my eyes until 4.  That seems to help.

*  Online at 4 p.m. to answer email, read blogs, and check Facebook.  Worked a bit on Hannah Smith's records.  Checked AncestryDNA for new matches.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. for dinner, watched TV, and did the dishes.

Halfway through April - up to 61,743 sources.  I'm slacking off big-time.  I'll be able to work all through the weekend because Padres are day games at Chicago.

The Blogging Fool Today - 15 April 2015

The 150th anniversary of the death of Abraham Lincoln, Income Tex Due day, CVGS computer Group day, and all I did was blog.  No real research.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that And Now We Are 9 posted.  Wrote Bride Linda and the Moms -- Post 355 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and then CGSSD Meeting on Saturday, 18 April: John Finch on "Family Research and the Civil War" and set it for later.

*  Made images, then wrote MyHeritage iOS Mobile App Appears to be Updated and set it for the afternoon.

*  Went off at 11 a.m. for McDonalds for lunch, then the library for John's group and the Computer Group, and to Home Depot for a new shower head.  No Toro trimmer cord though - will have to get it online.  Home by 2 p.m. to install the showerhead with no apparent problem.

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Tuesday's Tip - The National Genealogical Society's Monthly Email Newsletter - NGS Monthly posted.

*  We left at 9:10 a.m. for Linda's eye doctor.  Everything was fine, but she wanted to do the left eye again to make the hole bigger.  That went fine.  But it took an extra hour.  We stopped for lunch at Lolita's and then the car repair shop and got a new battery for the Lincoln .  Home by 12:30 p.m.

*  Read, then wrote One Document, Four Database Providers, and Four Different Source Citations (or not) and then Book Announcement: "How to Archive Family Photos," by Denise May Levenick and set it for later.

*  Online at 4:15 p.m. to read, then wrote Added or Updated Databases at Ancestry.com - Week of April 5 to 11, 2015 and the FamilySearch post for Monday.  Found some pics for Lori and sent them to her.

*  Went in for dinner at 5:15 p.m., watched TV news, watered the front yard, washed dishes.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, then wrote up the SDGS program notes and emailed them.  Then transcribed a will for the Amanuensis Monday post.  Checked Facebook and Google+.  Worked a bit in FamilySearch Family Tree in the Colby and Bartlett families matching folks.  Found some differences in several family which need investigating.

*  Wrote this post.  Will watch WDYTYA tonight too.  Genealogy today was 6.0 hours.

My Genealogy Thursday and friday - 9-10 April 2015

One day was good for genealogy, the other one sucked.

1)  Thursday, 9 April 2015

*  Read email and blogs in a hurry, noted that Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 257: 1847 Death Record of Josiah Sawtell of Townsend, Mass.posted.  Wrote It's always the Last Place You Look -- Zachariah Hildreth's (1754-1829) Death Notice and set it for later.

*  We left at 9:40 a.m. for Linda's two doctor appointments.  Got right into the eye doc and everything looks OK.  Went up to the Family doc and had to wait an hour past the appointment time to see him.  We left at 12:50 p.m. for the pharmacy, and then home by 1:15 p.m.

*  Checked email in a hurry, then we left at 1:40 p.m. for El Pollo Loco for Linda's dinner, then on the trolley and the Padres Opening Day game.  We were in Petco before 3 p.m.  The game started at 3:40 p.m.  I had a pizza slice and we had an ice cream too.  Pads lost 1-0 in 12 innings to Giants.  Drat, now 1-3.

*  Back on the trolley, and we were home by 9 p.m.  Read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, checked Facebook, got info added to the 52 Ancestors person, and done.  Genealogy this day was 4.0 hours.

2)  Friday, 10 April 2015:

*  Read email and blogs, added to the Best Of post, and wrote 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 67: #73 Josiah Sawtell (1768-1847).  Wrote "Discover Your Ancestors" Magazine - 4th Annual Print Edition and set it for later.

*  Burned through many of my recent Ancestry Hints, adding content and sources to the database.  Added a bunch of England BMD also using FamilySearch databases.

*  Worked in FamilyTreeNow adding some tree persons, then wrote FamilyTreeNow.com Launches Family Trees.

*  Wrote the two Saturday posts also.  Answered email, and looked through family photos for Lori.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. to watch TV, read the paper, and eat dinner.  Back online at 6:30 p.m. for awhile, added to the Best Of post and checked Facebook.

*  Back to watch the Padres game at 7:10 p.m. - Pads won 1-0 with a run in the 8th inning.  Used the laptop to read blogs and check Facebook.  Came into the Cave at 9:45 p.m. to read, write this post.  Genealogy today was 9.5 hours.

My Genealogy Wednesday - 8 April 2015

Baseball sure interferes with genealogy research these days.

*  Read email and blogs then wrote A Vision of Loveliness -- Post 354 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday and SDGS Program on Saturday, 11 April Features Dave Tooley and set it for later.  worked a bit in MyHeritage Record Matches that came by email.

*  Left at 11 a.m. for McDonalds for lunch, then to the library for the CVGS Research Group meeting.  We had 20, one of the largest groups ever.  I demonstrated using AncestryDNA Circles, Chronicling america, GenealogyBank and my own file folder naming system.  The second hour we had sharing about many topics.  Used the microphone in the auditorium which really helped cut down the chatter.

*  Home by 3 p.m. to read, then wrote More Record Matches from MyHeritage.

*  Went in at 4:30 p.m. to watch TV, take a nap, eat dinner, and put out the trash.  Online at 6 p.m. to read, and write a post for Thursday morning.  Linda has two doctor appointments on the morrow.  Then we have the Padres game, so blogging may be light on Thursday.

*  Went in at 7 p.m. to watch the Padres game, read the paper, then my book, then got out the laptop and did Facebook and Feedly and email.  Padres lost to the Dodgers 7-4, so now they're 1-2 on the season.

*  Online to write this post and I'm done.  Genealogy today was only 7.0 hours.

My Genealogy Tuesday - 7 April 2015

Once again, real life intervened and I didn't do a lot of genealogy research today.

*  Read email and blogs, and noted that Tuesday's Tip - Subscribe to "Your Genealogy Today" Magazine posted.  Wrote my Whittle study article.

*  We left at 9 a.m. for Linda's second eye treatment/.  It was successful - both eyes were lased and working as hoped.  We went to lunch at In n Out, and then the store, and finally got home at 12:45 p.m.

*  Researched and wrote Attaching Hints in My Findmypast Family Tree, then lay down for 30 minutes.

*  Had my call with Fisher and discussed the Whittle story and crowdsourcing.  don't know when it will be on the air.

*  Did some research on the Woodwards, and wrote Is This My Long-Sought James G. Woodward?  Worked a bit more in FamilySearch checking search results there.  Found him in the 1850 census in dodge County, Wisconsin.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. for dinner, then back online for awhile until the Padres game started.

*  Padre/Dodgers game was delayed 30 minutes by rain in L.A., so read the paper, then my book, and read blogs, Facebook, and wrote this post.  Padres are winning 6-3 in the 9th.  Genealogy today was 6.0 hours.

My Genealogy Sunday and Monday - 5-6 April 2015

These were not real significant genealogy days - too much else was going on.

1)  Sunday, 5 April 2015:

*  Read email and blogs, and finished up Best of the Genea-Blogs - 29 March to 4 April 2015.  We went to church at 9:30 a.m.

*  Home by 12 noon, and I posted New or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - March 30 to April 5, 2015.  Wrote New or Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - March 30 to April 5, 2015 and set it for later.

*  Went in at 2 p.m. and took a nap, then watched TV until we left at 3:30 p.m. for Easter dinner at Cafe Lamaze with Barbara and Jean.  We were home by 6 p.m.

*  Watched TV news and read the paper, then wrote two posts for Monday.  Checked Facebook, and dreaded the Monday dental appointment.  Genealogy this day was maybe 4 hours.

2) Monday, 6 April 2015:

*  Read email and blogs, noted that Amanuensis Monday - Post 262: Will of Crispus Richards (1681-1763) of Lynn, Massachusetts posted.

*  Joined Mondays With Myrt and contributed a bit on several topics.

*  Answered email, added to the Best Of post, and noted that Added or Updated Databases at Ancestry.com - Week of March 29 to April 4, 2015 posted.

*  Wrote My Entry in Crestleaf.com's Guess My Family Heritage Blogathon Contest and set it for later.

*  Went in at 1 p.m. to watch the Padres/Dodgers opening day game.  Left at 1:40 p.m. for the dental office for my "deep cleaning" and antibiotic treatment in my lower right quadrant.  Although the appointment was at 2 p.m., they didn't call me until 2:30 for some reason.  I checked email, Feedly and Facebook while I fumed, er, waited.  No explanation.  At least the hygienist set the radio to the baseball game.

*  It was over at 3 p.m., and I paid (expensive!) and was home by 3:15 p.m. to watch the rest of the Padres game.  We lost 6-3, so now 0-1 on the season.

*  Online at 4:15 p.m. to read, and wrote a post for Tuesday because of Linda's eye appointment in the morning.

*  Went in at 5:15 p.m. for dinner, and then watched the NCAA Final game.  Duke beat Wisconsin - a good game, either team could have won.

*  Online at 8:30 p.m. to read, talk on the phone a bit with somebody about genealogy, listened to Fisher a bit, and added to the Best Of post.  Checked Facebook, and I'm done.  Genealogy today was 6.5 hours.

My Non-Geneaholic Saturday - 4 April 2015

Well, not much of a geneaholic day anyway.

*  Read email, not blogs, and off to the Men's breakfast at Marie Callenders with Ron.  Just the two of us.

*  Home by 9:30 a.m. to edit the CVGS newsletter, print the master and the labels, and off to the UPS Store to print 30 copies, then took them to the post office.

*  Home by 11:30 a.m. to read blogs, note that Surname Saturday - CHENEY (England to colonial Massachusetts) posted.  Had lunch, took a quick nap.

*  Off to Bonita at 12:40 p.m. for the CVGS workshop - all of 8 showed up for the Facebook discussion.  A wasted two hours - I played a bit.  Took a picture of the crowd and posted it to Facebook, inviting my friends to welcome the crowd.  About 40 did!  Noted that Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - The "When I Was Young" Genea-Meme, Part 1 posted.

*  Headed home at 3 p.m. after two wasted hours, and watched the first Final 4 game, read the paper and took a nap.  Linda was at the Padres thing all day.

*  Ate dinner, watered the front yard, and watched the second game.  Linda got home at 6 p.m., and I made dinner for her.

*  Online at 6:30 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, and back to watch the end of the game.

*  Online at 8:15 p.m. to read, answer email, check Facebook, and did some Ancestry for database entries adding content and sources.  Even found Edith's second husband's name!

*  Wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 7.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Friday - 3 April 2015

How bad is it here at the Genealogy Cave?  I did get dressed, but didn't put on shoes all day, or go outside.  I heard it was 85 F here today.  I really should get more exercise.

*  Read email and blogs, wrote 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 66: #73 Elizabeth (Keyes) Hildreth (1759-1793).

*  Looked at the Passport database, and wrote Mining the U.S. Passport Applications on Ancestry.com and set it for later.

*  Worked on the Probate talk for South Bay and updated the presentation and handout.

*  Worked on the Pennsylvania presentation and finished it up.  Need to proof it and test it, then do the handout.

*  Wrote Dear Randy: How Would You Search for Obituaries Efficiently? and set it for later.  Answered email and checked Facebook.

*  Took an hour nap, then watched TV, read the paper, and ate dinner, then did the dishes.

*  Online at 7 p.m. to read, and finished up the CVGS Newsletter.  Need to proof it now.  Wrote the Surname Saturday and SNGF posts.

*  worked in Ancestry for awhile, chasing unknown surname folks.  Not much luck there.  Added to the Best Of post.  Genealogy today was 10.0 hours.

My Semi-Geneaholic Thursday - 2 April 2015

Well, the early part of this day didn't go well...

*  Read email and blogs, and noted that Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 256: 1759 Birth Record of Elizabeth Keyes in Westford, Mass. posted.

*  Left at 8:45 a.m. for the dentist for my cleaning appointment.  My previous hygienist retired aft 40-some years, so I have Lorraine who is very nice.  We did the bitewing x-rays, and the wrap-around x-ray, and then the "how deep are your pits" measurements, and then she called the dentist over.  I have to go back four times for deep cleaning.  One tooth may have to be replaced.  Drat.  April will be the No Fun month, I fear.

*  Home by 10:30 a.m. read, then wrote FamilySearch Responses to Questions About IGI Extracted Sources.  Checked Facebook, and answered some email.

*  Checked my AncestryDNA for more circles, and didn't find any - just the two I had before.  Wrote  AncestryDNA Launches New Ancestor Discoveries Feature and set it for later in the afternoon.

*  Answered more email, watched a DearMYRTLE and an AncestryDNA video, and worked on the John Seaver parents problem a bit without resolution.  Worked a bit in Charting companion too.

*  Added some recent photos to Pinterest, then went through older Treasure Chest images and wordless Wednesday images and added them to Pinterest.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to watch TV, read the paper, eat dinner, and start the laundry.

*  Online at 6:45 p.m. to read, add to the Best Of post, work on the CVGS Newsletter, and got it about 75% finished.  Worked up the 52 Ancestors profile for Friday.

*  Back to Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 9.0 hours.

My Geneaholic Wednesday - 1 April 2015

I didn't play one April Fool prank today, and don't think I was pranked either.  Darn.

*  Read email and blogs, and wrote Maggie's 100th Birthday - Post 353 for (Not So) Wordless Wednesday.  That was fun!  Answered email, added to the Best Of post, and checked Facebook.  Wasted an hour, I fear.

*  Left at 11 a.m. for McDonalds for lunch, then to the library for John's group, and then the CVGS Bored meeting.  Dragged on until after 2.  The auditorium is not a good place for a Bored meeting!

*  Home by 2:30 p.m., read email, posted Researching African American Roots at the 2015 SCGS Genealogy Jamboree and then wrote Not An April Fools Joke - I'm Related to Both David Cameron and Kim Kardashian.

*  Wokred a bit on Maggie's and Paul's ancestry, now that I know his father's name!  Used Ancestry, should have done a tree there I guess.  I did it in RootsMagic but didn't attach sources.

*  Went in at 5:30 p.m. to eat dinner, watch TV, read the paper, wash dishes, and put out the trash.

*  Online at 6:45 p.m. to read, do more on Maggie's tree, and then started the CVGS Newsletter for April.  Got the two blog posts into it.  Will work on it more through the weekend.

*  In an effort to do something productive, I went through the NYC Deaths for Seaver and added content and sources to the database.  There were lots of deaths that I couldn't find in my database, mainly Irish and German, no surprise there!

*  Wrote the Treasure Chest post for Thursday since I have a dental appointment early on Thursday.

*  Checked in on Facebook, and wrote this post.  Genealogy today was 10.5 hours.
